i am so sorry, Rosebud! I totally forgot! I am sososososo sorry! Please forgive me!!!!!

Cleo~

After walking back up from Starbucks, me with my s'mores frappachino, and with Jeremy, we chat. He is an amazing and thoughtful person! I am thoroughly impressed by him. Maybe a little smitten, too. Once we get back to the room, we pause. Something isn't right.

Suddenly, there is a screech. "The hospital is flooding! Get to higher ground!"

I look at Jeremy, frightened. But I try to remain calm, and he pulls back the blinds. Wow. All I see is rushing, dark water. My heart rises to my lips. I manage to say,  "Now, I guess it's time to evacuate." Jeremy is more excited than I thought he could get. "This is going to be an amazing adventure!" He says. I hesitate before saying, "Aren't- aren't you, well, afraid of dying?" He looks at me. "Umm... It's a possiblity... Always out there. Oh, geez. Let's just get out of here!"

He grabs my hand and we run from the room. Nurses are frantic, trying to grab yelling patients. Cleo dodges out of a particularly hawk-like one and we get separated. I am worried, but when I see Cleo again, I am terrified. She looks like she's about to faint. She is paler then death, shaking, and crying.

"Jeremy... Don't let me go. Hold my hand tight. Don't let go!" She gasps out. I understand her condition, now. She has separation anxiety. Not to mention we are running for our lives up the stairs, with a giant crowd of patients, and we can see the water below us, almost literally lapping at our heels.

(Whoops, just reread this. I switched narrators from Cleo to Jeremy. I hope that's okay. I hope I didn't control him too much, Rosebud.)

Nice. The narrator switch was a good thing for this post :)

Jeremy~

"This hand's sweaty, hold the other one. Let's get out from the grasp of your hawk-eyed nurse." Cleo laughs nervously. It's working, I think, keep talking, keep talking! My tongue flickers quickly between my teeth as I try to keep Cleo at ease.

"First floor's flooded! This old building's sprung a leak at the receptionist is going ballistic!" Someone says as we approach the stairwell. Okay, I'd kind of like to see that. And I can help with flying hospital records and papers; I've had hands-on experiance. But then, looking at Cleo's stark-white face, I banish the idea. Her dark hair cascades across her shoulders like a waterfall. Waterfall. How ironic. Pushing open the door to the stairwell, I hear a splash of shallow water and the frantic screams of the receptionist from the first floor. Cleo squeezes my left hand, which is quickly becoming my sweatier one.

"Hey, it's just water." Okay, not helpful, but seriously, when have a ever been  that good of a talker?

Cleo~

Jeremy is being extremely helpful. I am aware that I am acting absurdly, but I am scared out of my wits. He talks to me, which I find helpful in distracting me from the flooding going on beneath us.

"Hey, it's just water." He laughs, but I can hear the strain in his voice. I play along, and say, "I hope you know how to swim!"

"Do you?" He asks, looking over at me. "Yeah. I used to be on a swim team." I say simply. Before my heart condition got bad. "It was my dream all my life to be a great swimmer." I say.

He squeezes my hand. "And you will be, someday." "I hope so." I sigh. Then I notice something. "Is it just me, or has the water stopped rising?" I ask him. He studies the water, opens his mouth, and is about to speak when the loudspeakers blare, "Remain calm. The flooding has stopped. Stay where you are while the waters recede, please. A staff member will be along shortly to help you. Stay out."

A huge load of anxiety is lifted off my shoulders. I laugh and hug Jeremy, who looks pleasantly surprised.

Jeremy~

Okay, so she's...hugging me. Cleo's about a head shorter, so her hair falls over my shoulder.

"So, I suppose we should go help the secretary dry out her records and save the computers! Those new Macs are her pride and joy," I joke.

"Won't it be flooded down there?" She asks.  Jogging halfway down the steps, I look through a rectangular window in the door to the first floor. Wow. The water looks like it'd about waist-deep on me, a little higher on Cleo. Definitely too dangerous. I hurry back up the two flights of stairs to Cleo, who is pushing against the door we came through 2 minutes ago.

"It's stuck."

"Really? But–"

"No, there's a bed slammed against it, or something, but tit is definitely not budging," Cleo answers, "we're trapped!"

"Not if we go up," I point out.

"I thought we were on the top floor."

"The last floor that the elevator goes up to maybe," I retort, squinting up at the angular rows of stairs "but these stairs go up another half-flight!"

"Okay, up we go," she says, following my lead and trying to hide her fear.

"Hey, check out the ceiling," I say suddenly.

"We should be worrying about this door," she replies as we mount the last of the stairs. "I hope it's unlocked!"

"No, but there's a big wet spot in it, like the water came through. It's probably unstable," I say, my voice speeding up with urgency, we need to move back, it could fall at any moment!"

Cleo~

"It could fall at any moment!" Jeremy says urgently.

I moan. Did we really just escape the flooding to be squished by a wet ceiling? "Let me try this door." I mutter. I turn the handle and push. Jammed, although I feel it give way some. Jeremy looks up at the ceiling.

"It's starting to sag. Hurry!"

"I'm trying, I'm trying." He takes another look at the ceiling. Then he flings himself at the door. It moves a few inches. "Come on." He growls. He pushes desperately. We hear a soft ripping sound, and look up to see the ceiling start to crack. I kick the door and it finally opens with a earplitting wrench. We dart in seconds before the ceiling crashes to the ground behind us.

"That was close." Is all I can manage before the dust chokes me. I cough violently, and hear Jeremy do this same. I crawl back to him and show him how I am thrusting my shirt over my face. He does the same, and we breathe a little easier.

Once the dust settles a bit, I stand up and look around. We are in a dark room, lit by a few candles, and there is dust and cobwebs everywhere. "This must be the attic, or an unused storage place." I whisper in the eerie gloom. He doesn't answer, only examines the room. I look at the door. The ceiling fell in front of it. I go over and try to mice some of it.

It's way too heavy. What are we going to do?

Ooh! Ooh! Can Iris be on the floor of the ceiling that crashed on them?! Sorry, I'm WAY too excited about this.

Iris~

When I got to the higher floor room, and was settled back into bed, the nurses turned on the television and wordlessly handed me the remote. Excellent. I switched it over to the weather. They were covering the flood. Naturally.

"And be careful. The hospitial has gotten almost a foot of water, and many homes have been destroyed. Stay on your guard."

I shivered slightly in bed, making the beepy monitor pulse quickly. The nurses didn't seem bothered. Suddenly, they screamed and ran out the room, slamming the door shut. Rolling my eyes, I sighed. Everyone here was such cowards!!

Then I froze. I realized why they had left.

The floor was sagging.

I screamed in horror and pulled the wires from my body yet again. I ran lightly to the door and pulled on it, but it locked from the outside and someone had locked it. Idiots!

I pounded on the door, yelling, "Let me out! The floor!!" No one came, and alarms blared through the rooms. I heard snapping, and then the unmistakable sound of breaking wood. It sounded like it was below me, and I prayed whoever was under me had escaped.

"It's coming down!!!!!!!!" I shrieked at the top of my lungs. Then I fell.

And fell. And fell. Before....landing.

On something pointy.

I could hardly breathe. My breaths were shallow. I was crushed between a pointy plank end and a flat ceiling. Or floor. Honestly, I didn't know anymore. And why should I care?

The room spun, but I forced myself to shut my eyes and continue breathing. I knew if I screamed, no one would hear me, and if I slept, I might never wake.

My breathing slowed, but I kept it steady. Footsteps pounded outside the door as humans came. Everything darkened around the edges of my vision. Good. Humans. Doctors or nurses. Someone. Help. I reached out weakly and planks shifted. Hoping it was enough, I slipped into uncounciousness.

So, what I was thinking happened is that Cleo and Jeremy escaped and alerted someone that their ceiling collapsed. Then the someone got the doctors and nurses and they ran to the room. They saw no one, but then planks shifted.

I'll post tomorrow when I'm not unnecissarily mad at the world. Sorry I didn't get to it today, but it's getting late (my time is later than CB time). The story is awesome!! I'll work on ideas for this mysterious storage room. Maybe it had another purpose many years ago...I dunno, something interesting.

I apologize, guys, but I'm going to have to drop out. This is very interesting, but...I don't know, not as interesting to me? Sorry, I'm saying this wrong, it's just...Amelie hasn't been very relevant to the story, given I only posted once, so I feel like taking her out won't hurt anything.
