Combat Cliff RP!

Chatterbox: Inkwell

Combat Cliff RP!

Combat Cliff RP!

Across the fantasical land of Altruica (all-TRUE-ick-ah), Dimidiae-level students (elementary-highschool) are preparing for the friendly competition to take place on Combat Cliff. The teams:

Topazes

Team colors: yellow and black.

Favored weapon: A sword with a thick blade and capped end (no killing or maiming or you loose your desert privilages!!!)

Captain: Undecided.

Co-Captain: Keen Scartington (my charrie to come)

Base: An old Pre-school building, hidden within a patch of woods under the huge shadow of the looming cliff.

Rubies

Team colors: Red and black.

Favored weapon: A long staff that can be held in the middle or on either end, with a small ruby embedded in one end.

Captain: Tamala Camelia (pre-ordained charrie: felt like we need some leadership in case no one steps up).

Co-Captain: Undecided.

Base: A collection of bright red tents close to the cliff's rocky edges, separated from the main combat feild by a thin layer of scraggly trees.

Each team is divided into stratigests, archerers (with dull arrows meant to only confuse/bruise/knock of guard the opposing team), and fighters. Most of the caves in the cliff such as Archerer's Ambush and other such craggs are fair game for skirmishes, ambushes, spying, and more.

Rules:

If someone is seriously injured (broken bone other than fingers/toes, concussion, etc. Sprained ankle? You're fine, get some ice on it and keep fighting!), a momentary truce between the injured and his/her opponent while nearby teammates help him/her up to Team's Ledge, halfway up the cliff.

Stratigests can only fight if their base is attacked.

Treasureman's Cave, sitiuated near the top of Combat Cliff, is ABSOLUTELY BANNED and NO ONE is allowed in it because of it's unsafeness.

If someone disobeys rules, teachers and coaches are standing by to help up in the cliff's HQ building on the summit.

Character sheet:

Name:

Age:

Appearance:

Personality:

Team:

Specialty (archerer, fighter, or stratigest?):

I will post my charries soon!

I started a good first post but left it half-finished on the computer b/c it was time for supper, but someone x-ed the web page while I was feeding my goat and now everyone is yelling at everyone else (okay, okay, I started it) and I don't feel like posting anymore.

Rosebud, this is Daisy. I want to get this started! Can I post?

Okay, sorry, sooo-rrry. I'm gonna post anyways :) I'm still your usual, silly, absent-minded and dramatic Rose bud, just with a tiresome headache and a clock that won't stay put in the 8:00 hour (you dratted clock! Of course it isn't nine-fifteen yet!) But I'm not going to re-write Keen's post, which will cause stress and frusteration like little tornados inside my brain, so I'll begin with Amethyst.

Amethyst~

"Mum...MUM! That's the third Pegasus to go over our house! And I think one of them was a dragon, or maybe to pegasi, because it was HUGE. But we're going to be late!"

"Did you blow out your lam—" Mum questions from inside in a quick and impatient tone.

"Yes! And I put on the brown dress with the red bodice," I add before she can ask, "and that's the fourth pegasi over our house." Faster and more gracefully than a flitting butterfly, Mum slips out of the one story cottage and shuts the heavy wooden door.

"I'll braid your hair in the wagon," she says, twisting a fistfull of hair ties in her hands.

"Wagon? But I can't arrive like a sack of turnips to—" I retort.

"You can and you will!" She says sharply, then softens, "and you are the prettiest sack of turnips I've ever seen. Come on, we'd better get to the station." 'The Station' is a little barn nestled in the woods near our house where you can rent majoloff-pulled wooden carts (Majoloffs are strong, hairy beasts) to ride in down the trail. We walk towards it in a pace that is quickened, and yet does not waste my engergy. I'm going to need it. When we reach the station, I watch a family of gnomes climb abourd one wooden contraption. They look like little blue snowmen with aquilline noses and no hair whatsoever. Mum leans against the barn wall, sighing slightly as she finishes pinning up her hair. Trixit, the majoloff keeper, prepares a cart for us while Georgette, his little granddaughter, runs around trying to act helpful. Within minutes, I settle onto the grainy wooden cart floor staring at the two majoloff's hairy behinds. Mum grabs my head and gently begins to braid. The common way for girls to braid their hair is to first do six small braids, and then braid those. That way, if the ribbons come out, my hair will still be up in the six braids. Plus, it's just overall more secure. Just as the ribbons are tied, I look up to see Combat Cliff looming against the sky; huge and ominous and breathtaking.

"Okay, this is it!" I say to myself, "let's hope Keen and Tamala don't hurt each other before the fight even begins."

Mum walks over to the "Congradulations Graduatats!" banner waving in front of the steps up to the summit.

"I can't believe your cousin's graduating this year," she says with a look-how-fast-time-goes-by sigh.

"Yeah... this is Calcspar's last year as a Topaz, and I am gonna beat him." I say without much hope. I've never been good at PE (combat training, of course).

"Come on, they're probably already gathering on Team's Ledge," Mum replies, running with all the poise of a dancer up the steps. I follow, wishing I had my mother's agility.

I'm changing Kendall's age to 15.

Kendall~

I stand in front of the mirror in my tiny room, trying to decide how to braid my hair. My chesnut curls are a poofy mess, and I'm still in my pajamas.

"Kendall!" Mee calls,"Are you ready?" My grandmother peers around the door at me. My family and I had stayed the night at my maternal grandparent's. Their house is only three miles away from Combat Cliff, wheras ours is almost eighty. Yesterday's drive had been exhausting, and I had accidentaly overslept. As a plus, my twin younger brothers had been on the floor of my bedroom on a palatte the whole night.

"Um, no. Not quite ready, Mee." My grandmother groans,

"Well hurry up, child! we have a three mile walk until we arrive!" I was secretly glad my brothers were only five, that meant they were uneligable for the contest until next year.

"Yes, Mee." I braid my hair hurridly into six braids, than braid them into two braids that fall, bouncing, down my back. Changing into my clothes takes less time, and in no time at all, my grandparents, family and I are tromping the three miles to Combat Cliff.

~~~~
Combat Cliff is as intemidating as ever. Waving goodbye to my family and pouting younger brothers, I make a beeline for the crumbling pre-school. A massive crowd of yellow-and-black students are milling about, waiting for orders from the captain and co-captain. I already know who our co-captain is. My best friend, Keen Scartington, had been elected co-captain of the Topazes. I was proud of him. I had no clue as to who the captain was though so I manuevered through the throngs of people recieving orders. Classroom 5, or what remained of it, was the Captain's quarters.
"Kendall!" I turn, confused at the sound of my name. Keen is waving at me from the...
I couldn't think of anything. Sorry.
Hey guys let's get this RP goin'!
Keen~
"Keen! You're late!" Tamala's voice is as strong and rich and deep as Tatter Tree bark tea; the same shade as her dark skin and hair. We've been Frienemies for as long as I can remember.
"Hey Tam!" I yell down to where she is standing on Team's Ledge. Quickly, I stumble over the rocks and clumps of sparse grass covering Combat Cliff's summit. Before I can walk down the carved stone steps to Team's Ledge, one of the supervisors in a blue uniform stops me.
"Name? Team?" He asks.
"Keen Scartington, Topaz," I answer quickly, glancing back at the "Supervisory Building," which is swarming with blue-clad coaches and officials. A few parents and siblings are sitting on some of the larger rocks. My mother didn't come; she has to stay home with my two-week old sister. And my father, of course, wouldn't leave her side. So Uncle Tague dropped me off for the battle. In front of me, the supervisor scribbles something on a clipboard and points down to Team's Ledge.
"You'd better get suited up fast," he said. Running down the steps with no regard for safety (neither mine nor those waiting at the bottom), I nearly collide with Tamala as she steps out to meet me.
"Hey, high five, up high, down low, too—" I start gloatingly, but before I can say "slow," Tam slaps me across the face.
"You should've seen that coming," she says dryly.
"Yeah, you're just jealous 'cause you know we're totally gonna cream you today," I retort.
"We'll see," she answers, twirling her long wooden staff before she runs the rest of the way down the cliff face (on stairs, of course), her thin, silk stratigests jacket trailing behind her. Pushing past other stragglers hanging about the ledge, I run into the connected cave and grab some shin guards, a chestplate that looks like a flexible shirt (pretty cool stuff) but is hard as rock, my combat robes, and a Topaz trademark thick sword with a white cap on the sharp end. I hesitate for a few seconds, then grab a dulled knife on a chain and tuck it under my robes as I "suit up." As I race down to the old pre-school building, I look around for my best friend Kendall. Knowing her, she's probably late as well. I sprint across the field and push my way through the thick clump of trees surrounding our base. Even though it doesn't look like a pre-school anymore, it's still kind of degrading. The Rubies get these nice, battle-camp style tents and we get the old "let's memorize the days of the week" posters falling off the walls. Weaving my way through hundereds of my teammates, I head to what once was Classroom 5, now a room with maps and tables and stuff all over the place. Before I can push open the door, I see Kendall wandering around.
"Kendall! Hey!" She walks over, and I keep talking: "I've got to talk strategy with the Captain, you know, who to bash and who not to bash, so will you keep a lookout for the blue flag? That's the starting signal you know." She rolls her eyes.
"I know! How many years have we been doing this?"
"I dunno, I lost count at four," I admit, then add: "see ya on the feild!" And push open the classroom door.
"You're late," a distainful voice says immediately.
'Kay Daisy, sorry about that. You all can post your preparation posts and can start the battle if I don't post soon-ish.
So, does anyone want to be Co-Captain for Rubies? Going once...going twice...
Cleo~
After French Braiding my hair, I walk among the tents. We are team Ruby! Each one seems to shout. "Cleo Harstworth?" Asks a girl with dark skin and hair.
I pause. "Yes ma'am." I say respectfully. She is wearing a captains garb and I am her co-captain.
"Good. Your tent number is 13. Remember that. You may go look around, but stay away from the Topazes and meet me back here at 3 p.m. Understood?"
"Yes, ma'am." She dismisses me and I continue looking around camp, excitement and importance bubbling in my stomach. Just then, I see a familiar face with strawberry blonde hair.
"Elara!" I exclaim and rush up to greet her.
