The Gemstone Trials Solo Write

Hi guys! This is my first solo write, and I'm very excited! Okay, so here's the plot:
You live in the bustling, magical city of Almas Jetilmewi. The government here is corrupt, and taxes are nearly killing you. This is a city where there are mythical creatures and thieves around every corner, and any step you take could lead you straight to the cops. Every day is the same: you go to work, stay for hours longer than you ever wanted to, and go home. You are sick and tired of living in poverty, and one day someone in you're family (maybe you!) receives a glowing letter telling them that they have been accepted to one of the worlds most prestigious private schools for magic learners. The problem is, you've never heard of it before. Still, anything could be better than this life! They take the offer.

Rules:
1. No super advanced technology. This is mostly a magical world, and most stuff is run by magic. There may guns and newspapers, but nothing invented after the Revolutionary War.
2. I will allow the rare diary entry, and maybe letters back and forth between your character's friends and/or relatives, but other than that I will be doing the majority of the writing. As a general rule, only post diary entries about once or twice a week. I will find a way to work them into the story.
3. The first ten people to post are the main characters. Anyone else that enters after that will still be written into the story, but only as a background character.
4. Your character must have a name with a gemstone or type of rock somewhere in it. For example, Ruby Liles, or James Igneous.
Now, for the charrie sheet.

Sorry for missing last night. Today, you will be getting three chapters.

Chapter Two

Zen was to busy pacing to notice the envelope that had been slipped under her door. She was pondering what to do with about the man that had broken into her house. She'd already hog-tied him, and now she was deciding whether or not to let him go alive. If she let him live, word might get around that she was weak. On the other side of the spectrum, if she were to kill him people might send the authorities after her. Tracked down by the criminals or the cops. Those were her options. She decided to murder him, and it was just after she slit his throat that she noticed the letter. Of course, it is rather hard to not notice a letter when it is glowing.

Chapter Three

Tyberious and Sapphire were fighting side by side on the street when they got theirs. Their gang was fighting it's rivals, and things got bloody. Someone called the cops, and most everyone scattered. But, just as they were about to escape the brawl in the alley, two letters semmed to appear out of nowhere. This was rather distracting, and Sapphire nearly lost an arm to the bloodthirsty knife of the opposing gang because of it, but they managed to skillfully escape. As soon as they did, they opened their letters, and after some thinking about it, they both responded yes.

Chapter Four

Temuri was sitting on her favorite rooftop, munching awayat a red apple and watching two gangs figth to the death. Idiots. Everyone who has a brain knows that fighting isn't the answer, she thought. Once she had knawed the apple to its core and even nibbled hungrily at its seeds, she tossed it off the side of the building and opened the book she was currently reading to the page she'd dog-eared the night before. It was an action novel, that had to do with pirates and princesses and far-away lands. She'd left off at a cliffhanger last night, and she couldn't wait to finish the chapter, but as she opened the novel, a piece of paper fell out. She was puzzled, for she didn't remember having used a bookmark. She grabbed the paper and quickley scanned it, and relized it was an envelope. Adressed to her. She opened it and read the letter inside. A school? For magic? She rooted around in her pocket for a pen, and as soon as she found one she wrote her response.

yes yes yes yes yes yes yes yes yes yes
