For old time's sake, and with my ONE YEAR anniversary coming up on January 2nd, I'm going to restart (with some changes, of course) the first RP I ever made. AKA my Historical Fic. RP: I need this for ideas for a movie for National History Day at school, which I am doing on the Newsies Strike of 1899.
It brings back good memories! So to all history/theater/films-no-one-except-film-nerds-have-seen-film-nerds/NEWSIES geeks; let's get this thing started!
Like before, I will be giving you options for characters. You can have two, but if you do have two, one must be a boy. Otherwise, your one charrie can be girl or boy. Here they are.
NEWSIE: ages 7-17 years old. Your job is to sell The New York World, a newspaper run by Joseph Pulitzer. Newsies were mainly boys, but I will accept one girl newsie (besides my character, which is the same one from last time except with a different name). Post a nickname that suits your charrie, as well as your charrie's real name.
RICH KID: Age 11-17. Your family knows Mr. Pulitzer, and you can choose to be for or against the Newsies strike.
FACTORY WORKER: Age 9-21. Your life is extremely hard, as you are just a kid, and can't go to school, because you have to work all day. Can be girls or boys.
NEWSPAPER WORKER: Age 19-25. You work by distributing newspapers to the newsies, and to try to shut the strike down. You are against the strike.
NEWSPAPER REPORTER: Ages 21-25. You either work for The World, The Journal, The Times, or The Sun. If you work for The Sun, you can report on strike news.

PART OF NEW YORK CHARRIE LIVES IN: Brooklyn, as she is one of Spot Conlon's newsies.
CRUSHES: She'll wait and see, depending on if any of you chose Newsie crushes.
STRENGTHS: Good fighter, independent, determined, kind, strong-willed, tomboy, talented Newsie.
WEAKNESSES: Good fighter, has a dark past that she tries to hide (and doesn't remember), very handy liar, tomboy, strong-willed.
BACKGROUND: Her parents died when she was six, in mysterious circumstances, leaving her alone on the streets of Brooklyn. She doesn't remember much about her family, only that there was a fire, and they had to have died in that. She's not sure though... (#PlotDevelopmentIdeas) Out on the streets for two years, she was taken to The Refuge, a kids jail, at age eight, for stealing food. She escaped after only a day, because she was so skinny, she sld through the bars on the windows, and climbed down to the streets. She ran away back to her old home by the docks. There, she was taken in by an old friend of the family's, Spot Conlon, who is only a year older then her. They both became newsies, and both her and Spot gained a reputation for being the best newsies in New York.
POSITION ON THE STRIKE: Kathleen is all for the strike, and she was the one who convinced the Brooklyn newsies to help the Manhattan newsies with the strike, after spying on them to see if they had the guts to go through with the strike, and FIGHT!!

Sorry to put a damper on this but I read this and realized I had to point something out.
Brooklyn Newsie please don't be offended but you can't say no same-sex crushes. You were very nice about it but it still doesn't comply with the rules. You could say that you would prefer for that type of crush not to be allowed or hint at being uncomfortable with it, (and I'm sure plenty of people would respect that) but you can't ban them. Cho asked the same question a while back on the Note from the Admins thread (can I say no same-sex crushes on a RP?), and here was the Admins said
It is not our intent to provide separate threads for people of different perspectives. It is our hope that CBers will respect each others' views, whether or not they agree with them, and do nothing that is "in your face" and purposely challenging or disruptive. We will do our best to maintain the proper tone and characters appropriate for the role play, within our fundamental policies.
The Admin was asked to confirm this meant "no" and they said That is correct. They also said something later about Brown vs Board of Education I think. Shrug.
Please don't get mad at me. (I don't think you would cuz you've never been mean to anyone.) I don't mean to be all "AHA!!!" I just thought that the rules should be followed...because if there's an exception once then how many more could they be? Also I'm sure other people noticed it whether they were fine with it or not.
Just checking with the Admins, am I right in this case? There's always the chance that I could misinterpret something so I want to be sure.

I can't find the old Newsies RP anywhere. I thought it would be around the 45th page back, but it isn't there. So, I guess I'm using new charries.

NICKNAME(S): Just Guiseppe or Gui, most of the time. Sometimes, people call him "Russo" or "Russ"

CRUSHES: Possibly Kathleen? If they ever meet.
STRENGTHS: Has an innocent, younger-than-he-really-is face, which is good for selling papers. Knows how to swindle people, very charming, and pretty optimistic, I guess.
WEAKNESSES: Cheats, steals, doesn't keep promises. He's a live-for-himself kind of guy.
BACKGROUND: Lives with his cousin Piero (19 yrs) and Uncle Edoardo (41???) in Manhattan. The rest of his family is back in Italy, they wanted him to come to America to have a better future.
At first, he worked in a factory, but discovered that with his 'cute' face and small figure, he could make more money being a newsie. So, he started selling papers instead.
His family has hopes of joining him someday, but that will be far into the future.

NICKNAME(S): None, really. Guiseppe sometimes calls him "Pie", but not often.

AGE: 19
PART OF NEW YORK CHARRIE LIVES IN (Manhattan, Queens, the Bronx, the Bowery, Midtown, Harlem, Brooklyn): Lower Manhattan, same place as Guiseppe.
CRUSHES: None. (yet)
STRENGTHS: Almost has no temper (unlike his cousin), an amazing cook. He's very honest and can keep a secret. (a bit snarky around certain people?)
WEAKNESSES: Sometimes wanders around/leaves Manhattan with no warning. It's really scary to Guiseppe and Uncle Edoardo because they never know what could be happening to him.
Opinionated, but does not express his opinion. Once set on something, it is hard to get him to change his mind.
BACKGROUND: His mom left he and his dad when he was seven, because his dad was going through some problems then and she couldn't stand it anymore. (Edoardo has changed, now) Guiseppe came to live with them in Manhattan when he was twelve and Gui was 9, and at first, he brought his cousin to the factory to work there. That didn't work out. Now, Piero works in a clothing mill with his uncle and a lot of the other Italian immigrants from Lower Manhattan.
(Note: To quote a website, 'Perhaps the greatest concentration of all, though, was in Manhattan. The streets of Lower Manhattan quickly became heavily Italian in character.' So, I'm guessing his factory is mostly people from Italy)

Hey, Bluebird, if you can't find the old RP (which I am so ashamed of, ugh, look how horrible I was at writing) look up 'cricketmagkids historical fic. rp willow' which should bring it up. I liked Martyana! She was a fun character, but these characters sound awesome as well.
Argh! Can't decide whether Kathleen should crush on Spot or Race or Guiseppe now. PLOT PROBLEMS!!!

Would it be okay to have Martyna as a third character? I know you said only 2, and I really wanted to write a friendship between Guiseppe and Piero because they're practically brothers, but Martyna was fun to write. I understand if you don't.
