The Story Graveyard

What are some books/stories you have started writing but never finished? Post them here with a short synopsis and we can commiserate!

Some of mine from a few years ago...

Lucilly of the Lake A girl who lives in a poor fishing village must go on a quest to find a magical herb that will save her dying friend, but her quest is made challenging by the very intimidating "mosquito mosnters".

Brooklyn & Addie A realistic fiction about two young sisters and their cute little adventures. Excruciatingly boring!

Liflaloses A forbidden magical power can bring inanimate objects to life. It seems like someone has it, but who? And why? (This was an interesting premise, but it started rambling on and on about the adventures of some doll who was brought to life, and never got started on the real story!)

And another:

The Three Demigods, book 1: Automaton Madness    My cousins and I steal a flying car (FYI I have no idea about how I got this concept) from the Greek gods and go to Camp Half-Blood.  I have no idea how the story would go, but I started writing it anyway.  I started writing this when I was 7 or 8, but even then, I thought that it was a REALLY TERRIBLE Percy Jackson fanfiction.  It literally starts with my 15-year-old cousin (11 or 12 at the time) driving the flying the car.

I found the rough draft for this thing and I cringed so hard it was SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO bad!

Oh gosh. I have sooo many. Here's a few:

The Last Time Stopper (yea, I know, dumb name, but hey! I was ten!)

Basically this girl is an outcast because if her appearance, gets kicked out of the house by her parents, and joins this school far away. She eventually learns she has the power to stop time/freeze people in their own time. It's sorta confusing and got boring quickly.

Ice Age

Ok so this girl has ice powers, her mom, a superhero has them as well, and her dad, a super villain, has something resembling electricity powers. I really have to finish it if I can get it to be sorta understandable.

Hideout in the Mansion

This is actually a story my friend and I are doing together. It's a kinda hard to summarize, but basically during a storm, two best friends went into the hunted mansion at a theme park. Hopefully we can get it started again.

Wow, Shoshannah, Liflaloses sounds really cool!!

A Foxe's Tale

Oooooh it was okay. I mean, it was gonna have a cool picture of a fox's tail and it would be a pun, and.... it.... I actually near the end tried to improve this storyline but I just gave up.... although the storyline might be retrevable.

It's about a fox. His name is Ictes. Basically he had this older brother and they really warred and they were always trying to outdo each other. Basically it starts with him and his brother and his dad raiding a chicken coop. Ictes wants to impress his dad so he goes for I Don't Know the oldest cockerel or an old hen and basically he gets beat up by it (Hey, it was a strong hen/cockerel) his dad or his brother, I can't remember saves him and apologises to the cockerel/hen and gives Ictes a talking to, and then his brother saunters in with several eggs in his mouth, and his dad congratulates the brother for being so clever or something while Ictes is RIGHT THERE with blood all over him, and his brother says something really smart like: "Wooooah Ictes, never knew such a TINY hen could beat you up." And tut-tutts or something. Then as they're walking home (Ictes dripping blood every step) they see a plane or something, like, you know those old thibgs where you needed a really strong man who somehow flapped it? They saw one of those and (I have no idea why I did this) Ictes thought he could impress his dad by chasing after it (Apparently there was this story about a fox doing it and finding good stuff) so he just up and goes into the forest following the thing. Originally the story was he traveled back with a bear cub and a rabbit but I kind of scrapped it and whent back and added stuff, so the (better i think) other version is that he and his brother both run into the forest and get lost and have to work together and stop arguing to get back home and they're caprured by raccoons or something and they get into a rapids and then they get back home

The End

I'm very tired right nwow so I opalogise for the typos and whatnot, I might post more...

The Fish thing I don't Know

It was abotu a fish I tried writing in a dofferent style and the long and short of it is is that i gave up on i dont know, page three or something.

Now I start on a much better and different (I hope) story that I might post more bye now very sorry Admins bye.

Aw, I wouldn't exactly call my older stories dead, maybe just dormant. The thing is, every time I start to write a story, this cycle takes place.

Stage one: The story is so interesting, I love writing it, and for a week or so, I'm obsessed, doing illustrations, emailing it to my writing friend, working on chapters, usually posting it on here, doing cover art (note that at this point I'm only about three chapters in) and so on. And then....

Stage two: The obsession begins to wear off, and I work on my book every now and then, but not so much. My thread dies, I lose the plot, and I start to feel bored and bad about it.

Stage three: I hate my book. It's awful, who will want to read this? Then, I'm outside, see a leaf floating in the wind, and BAM! New story idea.

Stage four: I start writing my new and 'amazing' story, loving it all the way. And the cycle begins again.

So I end up with about eight unfinished stories that I switch between writing. So, yeah.... They all have the potential to be good if only I could be consistent with one of them. The farthest I've ever gotten is around eight-fourteen chapters (large span, I know, but I can't remember the exact number) on The Elves of Litenis Valley.

Anyway, I hope to finish them all someday, and I'll post a few of my many going stories now.

Starfire So there are these really intricate clans of different kinds of animals (predators and prey live together. Unnatural, I know, but it's a fantasy) and Starfire is the name of the leader of the Silverbark Clan. I think the clans are split up something like this. There are larger territories which house smaller clans, kinda like states and cities. All the larger territories are named with a star, like Starash, Starlight, Starfire. Yeah, I'm still trying to figure out why my MC has the name of a clan. Maybe her deceased parents split off from the clan and wanted to name their child after it in honor of that clan? I really don't know. Starfire is a young fox with no idea how to lead her clan, and maybe she gets washed away in a storm and learns the true meaning of life out in a forest or something. The plot is really tangled, and I have no idea what's gonna happen to this story.

Low battery, I'll post more later.

Don't worry, Leeli. The cycle of dormant story ideas happens with me too.

Okay, I'm not even joking. Leeli, that cycle?

EXPLAINED MY WHOLE WRITING LIFE. I can't stop doing that, and its annoying!!!!! Some of these are indeed dead stories, some are simply dormant, some are still in action and some are completed.

The Life of the Worst Villain in the Whole World-Reflecting, this was a pretty dumb plot, even for my first "novel." Here, I'll write my synopisis.

Chloe Henderson (MC) is a perfectly, average, ordinary, and normal ten-year-old girl. Zelda Henderson is her annoying younger sister. Wellwringer is a secret voice, shrouded in mystery, that Chloe believes lives only inside Zelda's head. Until she meets Ami. Ami Mastermind, a thirteen-year-old wizard-villain. Who's haunting Chloe. What Chloe did when Ami invaded her dreams changed her life forever. She could've ignored it. She might have forgotten it. But she didn't. Instead, Chloe tried to communicate. Join Chloe and Ami (and Zelda) on a quest to discover things. What things you ask? I'm not telling.

Yeeeeah. Didn't help that my handwriting was AWFUL, not to mention my grammar. Unfortunetly, I wrote about 7 or 9 chapters. Let's move swiftly on. Status: DEAD.

The Fire-This originally titled short story is what my mom considers to be the best thing I ever wrote. And, to be honest, I agree, to an extent. It's about a young boy, William, who lives out on the prairie. It's his birthday when a fire hits, completely devastating their home. As dark as it is, I think it's written pretty well. In a grammar pov, defentrlY the best. I could've expanded it, and was planning on it, but never got around to it. #laaazy

FUN FACT: The MC, William, was originally named Qui Pang. (Ch-E pah-ng) Status: FINISHED.

Fire, Water and Air-This short story, embarissingly enough, was originally a fan fiction of Brooke's True Name Solo Write. I used the MC, Ink as me, along  with the MV (main villain) named Brooke. The other two characters were Mei (xue) and Daze (Daisy.). Yeah. I was reeeeeeeally into Cricket then. It ended up with Daze being "ThE One" and sacrificeing herself to save the world. The ending was well written though, I'll post here.

"There was a bright flash of light and then...silence. A lark sat on a branch, overlooking the temple. He played a mournful song as he swept down under the arch into the temple. A brazen jar filled with water sat on the floor, the water still rippling (Daze). The wind whipped ferociously (Brooke). And  a single flame was lit in a brazier(Ink). When the lark flew close enough to the open flame, he could just barely make out the faces of three girls, all laughing and crying and hugging each other. The lark smiled secretly. Then he flew away. And the temple was never seen again."

This was supposed to symbolize their true names, as Brooke's was Zephyr, Daze was Tsunami and Ink was Ember. The faces in the flame was the three of them, together again, and happy without evil, in the aftrtlife, I guess you could say, forever immotalized. The larkr had to do with a prophecy earlier on. Status: FINISHED.

Death Welcomed Me With Open Arms-Yes, I know. Call the authorities-this title is TOO LONG! It was a wip. It was a spin-off of a another story I read on Cricket, who, unfortunately, I don't remember who wrote it. I want to say Rose bud, but I could be horribly, horribly qrong. It was about a set of triplet girls named River, Flame and Stone (Yes I was still really into the elements), who live in an awful orphanage that kills girls when they reach a certain age, because no one wants to adopt 16 year olds. RFandS run away, and get to a cottage at the border of the village, where they find an old man, who gives them horrible green liquid and they instantly die. Yeah, morbid. Again, ending was nice. I'll write. Anything in parentheses isn't in the original.

"Now, if you ever pass that old hut on the outskirts of the village, you can't help but notice the two trees on either side of the doorway-one birch (River) and one oak(Flame). Two of their branches have grown together, right over the arch. And, if you look closely, you can see they hold a single stone between them."

This last line was supposed to be a memorial to Stone, who was pulled away by the guards earlier in the story. Status: FINISHED.

Eris of the Moonbeams-Okay, so this really had the potential of a actual story. I did it in a writing group as a Excuisite Corpse, where I started, wrote about three sentences, then folded the paper down until all that was left was the  last sentence, and passed it on. There were only three of us, and we did two. One got hilariously out of hand, but this one actually stayed pretty much fantasy the whole way through. It could've been something, but it didn't happen. I'd like to post it on here, maybe make a rp. Status: IDUNNO.

Dovey's Wing-This was a story I had to write for a contest on Cricket. It came out well, and me and Little Reader ended up 2nd, with a near perfect score, missing only one point, due to my stale sentence structure. Curse you, grammar! Status: FINISHED.

Experiment 392-This story was morbidly dystopian, where a girl was kidnapped off a street, and slowly had all of her limbs replaced to robot arms. I lost intrest quickly, after only two pages. Status: DEAD.

Caught in the Act-My Nano 2016 submission...ah. I want to finish it, but the story idea has become stale...Long story short, it was about two twin princesses, Elle and Eli (Elizabeth) and a Pegasus, Winter. It was a combination of WoF and......the PEGASUS series by Kate O'Hearn, just without the god (esses)s. Status: MOSTLIKELYDEAD.

Autumnbreeze's Vision/Rising Shadows-A dormant Warriors fanfic. I'd love to finish it, and hopefully I'll post it fully on here when I have. I've tried multiple times to post it, but it is continually pushed down, and I forget. Status: DORMANT.

CYOA: Loch Ness Adventure-A story about you and a friend meeting the LNM. I found the CYOA format extremely hard to write, as you would have to write all you storylines first, THEN put in your choices....I abandoned it after 4 parts. Sad. Status: DEAD.

The Murder in Aisle 16-Okay, again, this one had potential. It was told from the POV of my MC, who was 8, finding a dead body in Aisle 16 of her library. It was supposed to be similar to the Agatha: Girl of Mystery series, but I never finished it, after writing 2 chapters. Status: MOSTLIKELYDEAD.

Abnormality/Boxed In-I wrote this dystopian story a while ago, ofF a prompt. It was something along the lines of: "Every person is born with a twin, one good, one bad. Your twin died at birth, and no one is sure which you are. Th E government makes an asumption. Unfortunately, it's incorrect. What do you do?" I was gonna get really deep, and be all like "the twin system is flawed. No one is either good or evil, everyone is both equally." But I never got there. Oh well. Status: MOSTLIKELYDEAD.

Burn-Ahh...my current novel. More info coming soon! ;) Status: WIP.

There you go, lots and lots of info. Sorry admins!

I don't know if these count as dead. I think they are just waiting to have ideas brought forth.

Black and White: A teenage girl kidnapped by a notorious villain. But when the girls brother and best meet three strangers, the world will never be the same.

Status: Eh, I don't know.

The Knife of Night: Jack, the prince of Atlantis, goes on a crazy adventure with a bunch of kids and creatures like him.

Status: Hasn't been touched in about a year.

The Thief of Darkness:

My idea for this novel came from The False Prince. Basically, a young orphan goes on adventure with an older teenage girl who is a master thief/assassin with powers of darkness.

Status: Could possibly come back to life.

@Shoshannah, can I please post an excerpt of The Thief of Darkness!

Oh my gosh. I HAVE SO MANY OF THESE!

Some of my stories/ story ideas are dead, some are dormant, some I'm just putting on hold and am considering for possible books... Cannot post all at once, since I probably will have to dig them up from a few places, but here are some...

-No Title (or The Chicken Man, since that was the title of Chap. 2... long story)

Thiiis was sort of a Riordan fan fiction type thing... only I used my friends as characters... yeah... no.

Status: Dead

-Four Worlds: Book One, Notris

There are four worlds. Earth, Thygn-Nao, Lelltaem, and Notris. Two humans from Earth are sucked into Notris--one year apart from each other-- in order to save their lives. But also, the four evil villains (yes, four worlds, four villains, that was on purpose), might have some evil purpose for this, because I think there's some hidden power in them? Also, the two humans were best friends. I did my best to try and plan this one out before I wrote it (the first four chapters--I was into it for about a week and then I put it aside, then a year later, I picked it up again, and finally typed it up.)

Status: Dormant, waiting for its moment to be rewritten and shine.

-Enyonmerlity

To date, my ONLY successful book. So basically, I wrote it from five different viewpoints (although two of them came up more than the others). And...

The book is set in Arnon, which is ( I think? ) a magical equivalent of Earth. There are portals to Earth, though they're heavily guarded. Rosa, my main character (my personal favorite) and the only human in the point of views so far, who has enormous power inside of her, goes on a quest for an ancient Feyna sword--named Enyonmerlity--so that she can stop the Feyna of Kraa from attacking Asor, Maerlon, her home. Also, bonus fun fact, Rosa was sucked into Arnon at the age of 8, five years before the story begins. I'm also working on Book Two.

Status: Finished, though not yet edited...

-Magikäya

I've written a few ideas based on the world of Magikäya, but they all downward spiraled. I've only written about a Chapter and a half. So, it starts out from the point of view of Cendrant, who's a servant girl (part Elf, I think), a not-quite slave, who works at her Uncle and Aunts' house, (the Artons) who make life miserable for her. Long story short, I was originally planning for Cendrant to go to the International Academy of Elyssa, and I might write it from the point of view of two or three characters...

Status: Mostly Dormant

And i have more, SO MANY MORE... but I'll save them for another post.

-Book Town

So, this was a story idea which I started, where everyone in the town has the name of a book character/author. Usually just the first names. For instance, I was planning to write it from the point of view of Louisa, who's named for Louisa May Alcott. I also based it partially on a homeschool co-op that I was once in, so... no...

Status: Mostly Dead. Only mostly dead because i like the idea of using book character/author names...

-Book the 1st: Elmira Woodburn

(Or at least that was the contemporary title, because the MC is named Elmira Woodburn.)

So... the heroine goes to  MPSSAPLA, (Magical Private School Swordfighting And Power Learning Academy), but of course she doesn't know that...She meets these also new introduct-ees to the school, Monnt and Moss, Maecy, Lady Lecrumfinielmf (Or Finiel, which is far more manageable), and Bentla. Maecy is normal, Finiel is half-Elf, Monnt and Moss are half-Fey and half-human. I only got about two chapters in, but it was meant to be a long story...

Status: Mostly Dead (Mostly because I still have sympathy for it in the back of my head)

--A Tale of Gaharniya and Arthur

This was meant to be a tale of two unexpected friends... Gaharniya and Arthur. They become friends when Arthur lends her his book which he wrote. And I have no idea what was going to happen in the book after that...

Status: Mostly Dead. (Except if I use it to power a second draft, it's dead...)

--Z.A.F.F.

This is told from the point of view of Melinda Fulsom (thank you, graveyard across the street! Melinda is my own invention, but 'Fulsom' I discovered on a gravestone). She moves to Oregon (WHY WHY WHY ARE ALL MY EARTH STORIES SET IN OREGON?!?) and joins a homeschool co-op/private school thing, called Z. A. F. F. (Prounounced zaff ) --Zany Activities For Fun. The name is a cover for what it really is, which is a private school for homeschooled children with special abilities...

Status: Dormant

Stars and Crystals

I combined this one--well, not the main idea of the story, but the main character, Nyæ, into Magikäya, from my previous post.

The Roof of the World

There are two MCs: a magical polar bear who's been turned into a human named Chilinski, and Jack: a normal, average, everyday guy who might be the only one who can turn her back.

Status: Dead
