Adventure RP

I was searching through old threads (ya know, like ya do) and I found an old RP about four friends that got lost in the blue ridge mountains on a hike. It looked really neat, but only one person joined and then the thread was sent to the back with all the others. I was hoping to restart this RP. Here's the charrie sheet.

Please Note that if you believe there are already too many RPs on here, you do not have to support this one. However, many RPs that are currently on the front page are ones that people can no longer join, so I thought it might be nice to throw in something ne and small-scale. Also, this RP is set in the real world, so no fairy wings on our characters please! :)

Nikkie~

I sit on a log by the edge of the well-walked trail, drawing in my sketchbook with the pieces of charcoal I stowed away in my backpack. Sure, a water bottle and lunch are necessary, as well as a first aid kit. But what fun's a hike if you can't sit and sketch every once in a while?

I'm currently drawing a sparrow in flight. The wings are giving me a spot of trouble, but the shading looks neat and I have the light source down. It's definitely not one of my better sketches, but it could be wall-worthy.

The sound of leaves crunching beneath someone else's feet makes me look up. I see two girls approaching me. One I recognize as the once-homeschooled girl from my math class and the tenth grader that's fourteen.

"Hi! Thanks for coming!" I say, getting up to go welcome them, "I'm Nikkie. And you?"

"Hello," says the tenth-grader in a somewhat small voice, "I'm Harper,"

"And I'm Aspen Jay," says the other girl, "But you can call me AJ. Now, where are the others?"

"Don't worry, they'll come. And there might be a few more than we expected. A bunch of people signed up for the hike. They ought to be here in a few minutes. Wanna share the log?"

I'm changing her brother to being a year older than her.
Harper~
Aspen's been known as my voice.
It's hard to talk sometimes because of the pills, so she'll talk for me. Mum used to do that too.
Noah's supposed to come when dad drops him off, because Auntie dropped me off.
Nikkie seems fun and outgoing, and good at drawing. I notice her sketch book and a picture of a sparrow. She kindly offers a seat to us on the bench, and Aspen sits, but I decide to climb up the tree right by them.
My foot catches every branch perfectly, and the air seems cooler and brisk up top when I finally settle down.
"So you like climbing trees?" Nikkie starts.
Don't attempt to make a conversation with me, if you don't want to be disappointed.
"Yes," I reply.
That was brief. Aspen and Nikkie continue to talk when I snap my fingers.
Nikkie looks up.
"The others," I say, pointing at the other figures coming our way. "They're here."

I also have another charrie, and a picture of him is below. He's open to shipping.

Name: Noah Reegan

Age: 15

Appearance: In the picture

Personality: Really techy, kind of a geek but also athletic. Sometimes he'll wear, glasses, sometimes he won't. He's definently more open than his sister, and he can make friends easier. He's funny, sarcastic, and nice.

Homelife: Like Harper, his mother died while in service as a police officer. He lives with his father, Harper, and their golden retriever Cleveland.

School life: He's in the tenth grade with his sister, even though she's a year younger than him. Some people think that she's smarter, but they're just smarter than each other on different subjects. Ex., he's more tech-savvy.

Other: None, other than he took his mother's death hard along with Harper, and it was a bad time for him too because his sister had cancer and his mother had died.

~Aly~

I woke up at around four AM. The horses where already awake, and kicking on the stall doors, waiting to be fed.

Quickly and quietly,I fed them, and then raced back into my loft to get ready for the day. After all, it's not everyday that you get to go on a hike with people you don't know.

I walked through the woods until I met up with the group. The are all in a small circle, talking. I thought about what Mom used to say. Imagine you are just talking with the horses. This would be easy. Or not.

Taking a deep breath, I joined the others.

~AJ
When Harper and I walk up to the trail, (the writer in me wants to call it a clearing, but it can hardly be described as such), I see a girl sitting on a log. She looks familiar--I have a feeling she's in one of my classes at school, but I don't remember her name. She's intent upon her sketchbook, but when we walk up to her, she glances up and says,
"Hi! Thanks for coming!" She stands and walks over to us. "I'm Nikkie. And you?"
"Hello," Harper says quietly. "I'm Harper."
"And I'm Aspen Jay," I say. I toyed with the idea of being formal last night, but I decided that I had best act like a normal person. For the time being, at least. "But you can"-- inwardly, I wince--" call me AJ." I learned the hard way to introduce myself as Aspen Jay, THEN AJ, otherwise people would look at me strangely. "Now, where are the others?" I'm glad we're not late.
"Don't worry, they'll come," Nikkie says. I find myself staring at her red hair. It is kind of eye-catching, but beautiful. "And there might be a few more than we expected. A bunch of people signed up for the hike. They ought to be here in a few minutes. Wanna share the log?"
"I would be hon--" I catch myself and bite my tongue. And there went the resolution to not be formal, already! "--I mean, sure, thanks," I correct myself.
I go over and sit on the log. Harper remains stationary for a moment, then gracefully climbs the tree. I smile. Harper loves climbing trees. I would climb trees too--I like being up high, since I can't have wings-- but I have bad balance and have never climbed a tree before.
"That's really good," I say, looking at the bird she's drawing. I think it's a sparrow, but I'm no ornithologist, so I can't be sure.
"Thanks!" She replies. She looks at Harper, who's settled in the tree. "You like climbing trees?"
"Yes," Harper says. I can tell that she does not want to talk.
I want to tell her that I like drawing too, but then she might ask to see my sketchbook. And I never show anyone my sketchbook. So instead I ask her which mediums she prefers to use, and we start discussing the pros and cons of pastels and watercolors. We're deep in conversation when Harper snaps her fingers. I'm instantly reminded of my grandmother, who used to do the same thing to get our attention, and look up, pausing mid sentence.
"The others," Harper says, pointing down the path. "They're here."
I try to decide whether or not to stand up. Would I be viewed as rude if I stayed seated? I settle for just facing towards them, since they have already come into view.
One of the girls has braided pigtails, and beautiful blond hair (okay, I think a lot of things are beautiful. But seriously, her hair was very rich), and she looks about my age (though I've learned never to judge anyone by their height). I think I've seen her around school before, but I haven't spoken to her, and don't recall her name.
The other girl looks older, perhaps a twelfth grader. She looks... I don't know... louder. She's got freckles like me, though they aren't as noticeable, and brown eyes. She also has blond hair, but it's a different shade than the girl with blue eyes and the braided pigtails.
"Hello," Nikkie says, jumping up from the log. "I'm Nikkie."
Realizing I'm probably supposed to speak here, I say "I'm Aspen Jay, but you can call me AJ," just as the tall, older girl says, "Hi! I'm Alisha!"
"And this is Harper," I continue, smiling awkwardly at Alisha. I'm not sure who interrupted who. I gesture at Harper, who's still in her tree, and she waves.
"I'm Aly," the girl with the braided pigtails says. I'm already wondering how I can sketch these girls when I get home.
Nikkie immediately starts chatting up a storm with Alisha. I feel shyer than I already felt. It was bad enough with only one person that I didn't know... now I have three!
I look up at Harper to make sure that she's okay and doesn't need anything, and she gives me a thumbs up. I go over to Aly, and, of course immediately blurt out, "What's your favorite book series?"
"Heartland," she says, and doesn't specify. I nod slowly, not mentioning that I haven't heard of it. "I'd tell you mine, but then we'd be here all day," I offer, and she laughs.

I hope this wasn't too charrie controlling! Sorry for the longness!

A girl named AJ walked up to me. I tried not to appear nervous.

"What's your favorite book series?" she asked me. I didn't need to think about this one at all!

"Heartland." I reply back, quietly.

"I would tell you mine, but then we'd be here all day!" AJ says in response. I laugh good naturally.

"I think I've seen you in school in my ELA class. Do you have Ms. Chance?"

Nianad, can you please answer this question?

Um... what is an ELA class? I can ad lib and say that she's AJ's math teacher, but I have no idea what an ELA class is... sorry!

-Nianad

I believe that stands for English Language Arts (reading, writing).

Sorry, I should have been more specific. It means English Language Arts. So reading, writing, and grammar.
