Adventure RP

I was searching through old threads (ya know, like ya do) and I found an old RP about four friends that got lost in the blue ridge mountains on a hike. It looked really neat, but only one person joined and then the thread was sent to the back with all the others. I was hoping to restart this RP. Here's the charrie sheet.

Please Note that if you believe there are already too many RPs on here, you do not have to support this one. However, many RPs that are currently on the front page are ones that people can no longer join, so I thought it might be nice to throw in something ne and small-scale. Also, this RP is set in the real world, so no fairy wings on our characters please! :)

Nikkie~

I'm honestly not much of a sports person, so when I see the others head towards the dock, I grab my sketchbook and a pencil. Then I race towards the dock, sipping up my thin sweatshirt. I'm about to greet the others, but I see that AJ and Matt are having a bit of a romantic moment. I stifle my giggle and go somewhere else to draw.

Walk through the camp until I get to the edge of the woods. Then, I climb into a tree, resting myself on a strong limb and open my sketchbook. The pages are filled with graphite drawings depicting people, animals, plants, in the greatest detail. I generally draw in black-and-white, and always something living. Once, when I was eleven, I tried to draw a landscape. It looked like a bucket of rubbish. Since then, I've stuck to animals and people. About two months ago, I branched out to plants (get it? Branched out to plants?). I found I'm actually pretty good at them. So I can draw trees, and people, and animals, and people and animals together and people in trees and animals in trees.

I survey the area below me, looking for something or someone to draw.I realize I actually have a pretty good view of the dock. I begin to draw the four of them. AJ and Matt flirting while Harper takes what I'm sure will be amazing pictures and Jeffrey compliments her on her technique. They all look so cute together.

I sigh.

I suppose I'll be the fifth wheel or something. It's not that I'm jealouse or anything. I'm actually pretty happy for them. I've just always been that person at school that's sitting on the sidelines drawing when everyone else is out at the movies.

But that has it's advantages. I have more time to do the things no one does. I can go out into the woods and explore. I can go for a hike. I can do this.

This is how I roll.

Noah~

"Watcha doing?" I ask curiously, looking up at Nikkie in a tree. "I thought treees were Harper's thing?"

She laughs. "They are, but this is also the best view for drawing things, scenes that I see on the landscape and my mind."

"Cool," I respond.

Yeah, no, I have no experience with what she's talking about. Almost everyone here is artistic with drawing and stuff, but Harper and I aren't. Well, unless photography counts, then Harper is.

While Harper is known for her photography to a lot of the kids here, we're especially known for our musical talent. Harper plays the cello, and has performed at prestigious concerts and actually gotten paid a couple of times. I, however, am a band kid, and I play the alto saxophone. I can also play the trumpet, but the alto sax is mostly my thing. I've also been in concerts, and I was practicing for a paid solo until this camp started. Last year my band and I were in the Macy's Thanksgiving Parade.

"So what do you like to do, Noah?" she asks, her red hair standing out against the brown oak and the green leaves.

Good thing I just practiced. "Well, I'm not really an art person," I respond. "I like baseball, but both Harper and I are known for music, and for Harper's photography. She can play the cello professionally, and I'm working on that with my alto sax."

I explain a little more, including where I've performed and everything to try to impress her. I feel like I look and sound stupid or arrogant, but she nods, smiles, and laughs when I tell her that one time we had an putdoor venue, and a dog accidentally leapt for a tuba.

"What about you?" I ask.

She sighs. "Well, I've won art shows and competed up to state level before. At one point, my school had some of their art students, including me, paint some stuff that ended up being hung up in the White House hallway."

"Wow!" I exclaim. "That's so cool!"

Once again, I sound like an idiot.

"Thanks," she responds, and leaps down from the tree. "Want to go see what the others are doing?"

No, I want to curl up and die because I completely butchered that conversation with you.

"Sure," I allow myself to respond, and we walk towards the docks.

Harper~

I sit at the edge of the dock with Jeffery, and he and I look over the pictures I took.

Some of them are silly, pictures of all of us making faces and one of Matt looking like he's holding the sun, but I still love the camera that dad got me. The other pictures are definently keepers.

My feet swing back and forth as I continue to look over the pictures. Even in my hospital bed I couldn't keep still. Always moving, but the doctors reminded me that they couldn't steadily put the IV in if I didn't stop tapping.

Ugh, the IVs. I feel like the small scars on the crease of my arm will never go away. That's why I always wear a hoodie, or sometimes a long sleeved shirt. I don't always want to, but I don't want to give people another reason to feel sorry for me.

Jeffery and I talk about our classes, and believe it or not, we find out that we're going to share a couple of  classes after break.

I look over at AJ and Matt, and see Noah and Nikkie walking up to us at a distance.

I look back at Jeffery, who's looking out at the sky. What a dramatic picture, his short golden hair shining in the sunlight. He's really nice and cares about people, but not a nosy kind of cares like "you're problem is mine."

I look down to discover that we're holding hands. Then, without warning, Noah jumps me and I let out a small scream. We get up and all of us laugh, as we head for the bonfire to cook dinner.

Okay, so I'm behind too... can we RP a bit of dinner and then hike day?

~AJ
We have fun goofing around once Harper and Jeffrey arrive, Harper snapping pictures occasionally, a tiny grin on her face, while we pull faces and chat.
Matt looks at me weirdly once, but I ignore him and instead we joke about my "Jedi move" as Jeffrey calls it. I hand the brush back to Matt, who slips it into his paint kit.
Eventually, Harper stops taking pictures and she and Jeffrey sit down next to me at the edge of the dock, looking at the pictures she took. As usual, they are amazing.
We're silent for a moment, as Harper and Jeffrey talk quietly. Matt and I are silent. Every once in a while a shoot a glance at him and he's always looking at me.
I glance at Harper, and I notice she and Jeffrey are holding hands. When did that happen? I hadn't noticed...
...
Dinner goes by quickly, as I am tired and just want to sink into my bed and go to sleep, and thus of course am woken up far too early in the morning by the sound of a conch shell. I moan and stuff my pillow into my ears, but eventually force myself to get up and get dressed for the hike. I grab my small sketchbook and put it into my bag, figuring that it's less noticeable than my big one, and as we stream out with the other campers, onto the trail we'll be walking on, we all start to chat and introduce ourselves.
~~~
Sorry this is so short. I've been really busy irl and I haven't had as much time for writing as I would have liked...
Harper~
I walk beside Jeffery and AJ, while we all begin to introduce ourselves. We all come from interesting backgrounds, but neither Noah or I talk much about ours.
I snap a few pictures occasionally, and during breaks AJ will sketch something or jot an idea for a painting in her notebook. The early morning sun glistens on the water, and dew lightly coats the ground in a transparent sparkle. The morning is beautiful, but there's something that's making everyone uneasy.
Hopefully this day will pass by smoothly.
Does anyone else want to revive this and go back to RPing this?
Please let me know what you think...
