Chatterbox: Inkwell

Two Kingdoms Birthday RP! (The RP itself has nothing to do with birthdays. I’m making because I just turned thirteen.)

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
There was once was a large and prosperous kingdom ruled by a wise and generous King. He had two daughters, twins, the elder with raven black hair, the younger, hair of flaxen gold. Their mother, an exciting and diplomatic woman, died during childbirth, and he was left to raise two very different children on his own. The girls grew to be wise beyond their years, but there was always a divide between them. The elder, Catherine, was a great negotiator. She fought her wars with words, not deeds, and was the happier for it. The younger, Adeline, was a great adventurer, who traveled across the land, living among her people for years, and slaying many a dragon. When the King died, it was his wish that the two sisters rule the kingdom in tangent. This worked for a time, but soon the sisters fought, and Catherine, hoping to avoid more bloodshed, suggested a solution. The Kingdom would be divided in halves between the two sisters, each becoming the sole ruler of one smaller nation. Adeline agreed, and took the prosperous southern Kingdom, while Catherine received the harsh yet beautiful north. The sisters went their separate ways, and the two kingdoms remained on cordial yet distant terms. However, as time stretched onward, the descendants of Adeline and Catherine grew further apart, until the countries relationship was strained at best. Now, the two kingdoms are teetering on the brink of outright war, and the kingdoms themselves are divided. Some want reunification, others, revolution. The two queens of the twin nations, descendants of Catherine and Adeline, are pressured and manipulated by advisors on all sides. Several death threats have surfaced, and each ruler is paranoid.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

So, now that we have our overly dramatic setting, I’ll explain a bit more about the world of the RP.

The only sentient species are humans, dwarves, and part elves. The true elves vanished years ago, but their descendants remain. Humans are by for the most common, and populate most of the two kingdoms. (Henceforth referred to as Northern Feradel and Southern Feradel) They are able to brew potions and use spellbooks, but it takes years of practice and dedication. Part elves are rare but not unheard of. They are more common in southern Feradel, but can be found in the north as well. They look human, and tend to have blonde hair and light blue or green eyes. They have a natural affinity toward healing and nature, but can not use proper magic. Dwarves live in the mountains in Northern Feredel, and consider themselves a sovereign nation. They have made an alliance with the Queen of Northern Feredel, and if it comes to war, the Dwarves will aid the North. A few Dwarves live among humans, often taking jobs as craftsmen or mercenaries. They are a short and stocky people, and generally have red or brown hair and a ruddy complexion. They are naturally talented warriors and metalworkers, and take great pride in what they do. They have crafting magic that can enchant swords, shields and the like, but can not do the same type of spells humans can. The twin Kingdoms are populated by various magical creatures, like dragons, gryphons, and ogres. Dragons are clever beasts who kill for food and sport. They are utterly vicious. Gryphons are good steeds, and are generally genial when tamed. Ogres are stupid creatures who enjoy kidnapping young maidens, and make a habit of saying things in dumb, vaguely ominous rhymes. Feel free to include other magical beasts as well. This takes place generations after the split of the Kingdom, when any geniality that existed between the two halfs had long since ceased. Political tensions are running high, and conditions in both countries have grown steadily worse. Both countries have problems with dragon and ogre attacks, and the south is in a crippling drought, spreading famine through out both countries, as most of the norths food supply is bought from the south. There are rumors of a revolution, a fringe movement calling for reunification, and the two countries are close to war. I’d like to have a good mix of species, but I’d prefer to have a few more humans. It’s okay if a few charries have magic, but potion ingredients and spellbooks are expensive, so poorer charries are a lot less likely to be magical. Here are the rules:

  1. Two charries max please. I might be persuaded to make an exception, but I find that three characters per person is just confusing.

  2. The more the merrier! While I’m not allowing people to join after we start RPing, there’s no limit to the number of people we can have.

  3. No OP characters. It’s no fun if one character can do everything.

  4. No true elves, because they vanished centuries ago. I’d prefer we don’t have any half of one species, half of something else, but if you must. You can’t RP as a dragon or a gryphon or an ogre. (I guess you could do an ogre, but they are dumb as rocks and twice as smelly.) Also, magic powers are more of an ancient art form, than something you can just do. Anyone, with enough practice, can do small magic, but very few are any good at it.

  5. I’m totally open to a romantic subplot or two. That being said, everyone doesn’t have to be dating someone.

  6. Try to use as correct grammar and spelling as you can. (I misspelled spelling at first. Irony!) It doesn’t have to perfect, and I’m not going to go through your posts looking for errors, but try your hardest. Spelling and grammer are often really important if you want you posts to be understood correctly.

  7. Be dedicated. I really don’t want this to die, so try to post as often as you can. I totally understand if life gets busy, but please stay with this.

Here’s the charrie sheet.
