Night at the

Night at the Museum RP!

Alright, so I really wanted to do a historical roleplay, but I couldn't decide on a timeline. Did I want to do 1920s or medieval? Did I want a Roman one? Why couldn't I make up my mind?

Then I thought, screw it! It's a Night at the Museum RP! We can do ALL THE HISTORICAL GENRES!

By the way, you do not need to have watched Night at the Museum to be in this rp! I will explain any confusion. This isn't ABOUT Night at the Museum, it's just based on it.

The plot: Two night guards have been hired to work in the History Museum for the summer. Neither of them know each other or particularly like each other, but they need this job. That's when things get interesting.

Something in the museum is causing the exhibits to come to life at night. They freeze in the day time, and if they are outside the museum when the sun comes up they turn to dust.

Unfortunately, some of the exhibits in the museum aren't friendly. Some of history's greatest bad guys and conquerors are after whatever powers the museum (because whoever holds the artifact can become a living person, who doesn't turn to dust in the sun).

It's a race against the clock to find the artifact and save the museum!

You can be a well-known historical figure (like Alexander Hamilton), the product of a famous myth or legend (like King Arthur), or a made-up historical character (like a knight or mobster)!

Exhibits:

African Animals (yes, you can be an animal!)

1920's Gangsters/Flappers/stuff

Medieval and Renaissance

Civil War Exhibit

Roman Civilization

Old West Exhibit

Dinosaur/cavemen exhibit (YEAH BOI, YOU CAN BE A DINOSAUR)

Egyptian Exhibit

1940's Exhibit (WWII)

A Victorian Exhibit

Pilgrims/Puritans

An exhibit about the Mongols/Genghis Khan

French Revolution Exhibit

An Exhibit for famous conquerors and villains throughout history (dun dun DUNNN)\

An American Revolution exhibit, with redcoats and patriot soldiers (are you happy now, Hamilfans?)

Only one to three people per exhibit! You can make two characters, but don't make them for the same exhibit. You may suggest another exhibit if I haven't covered your character in one of mine.

Also, every night the museum is basically a free-for-all brawl. So you might want to give your character some kind of weapon.

Name:

Personality:

Backstory (if you're using a real historical figure make sure to look them up and get the details right):

Weapons:

Good or evil or neutral:

My charries:

Name:Jeanne Vivian Crowe (went by "Vivacious Viv" or "Viv")

Gender: Female

Exhibit: 1920's Exhibit

Appearance: Short, curly brown hair, a silver-blue flapper dress, and heterochromatic eyes (one is brown and the other is blue). Wears high heels that she can run surprisingly well in. In her exhibit, during the day, she is holding a champagne glass and chatting it up with a gangster. At night she steals a pinstripe jacket and a tommy gun and raises hell in the brawl that happens in the museum lobby. The 1920's gangsters hate the medieval exhibit, so she's usually fighting them.

Personality: Cunning, sly. Very polite when she has to be, but is actually wild. Loves to wreak havoc. Is a caring person if you get past the violence and slaughter. Has a thick northeastern gangster accent.

Backstory (if you're using a real historical figure make sure to look them up and get the details right): (SHE'S NOT A REAL HISTORICAL FIGURE, THIS IS MADE UP) Jeanne Vivian Crowe, or "Vivacious Viv," was a girl growing up on the wrong side of the tracks in NYC in the 1910s. Kicked out of the house for falling in love with a woman (as being non-straight was taboo at the time), she went to a mob boss she knew and offered to do anything he wanted. He saw her use and hired her to infiltrate the elite. As a small, innocent-looking waif, she infiltrated the hearts of many wealthy men but cared for none of them. She made an empire and name for herself.

Weapons: T O M M Y  G U N S

Good or evil or neutral: Neutral-ish. Isn't evil, but is only out for herself (for now).

Other: There's a woman in another exhibit who reminds Viv of a woman she used to love. This has shaken Viv a lot. She secretly wants to meet the woman in the other exhibit.

Hey, if anyone would like to be a woman in the medieval exhibit whom Viv could have a crush on, that'd be great.

Can I make another charrie? If so:

Name: Grace Aredel

Gender: F

Exhibit: 1940's WWII

Appearance: She wears an American military uniform (WWII) and the sides of her hair pulled back. She has dirty blonde hair that is a bit past shoulder height with loose curls and light blonde streaks in them. She's pale and has a lot of freckles, and is slim but athletic. She has a small mouth and nose but bigger ears and a big blue-grey eyes with speckles of gold in them. She is average height.

Peronality: She is funny and brave, not afraid of the front lines. She's proper but not uptight, as she is social with the few people she becomes friends with. (An attitude kind of like Peggy Carter) Loves adventure and is a natural born leader. She's also very smart and a good strategist.

Backstory: She was born in Thames and grew up in London, then going to military school when she was older, even when it was generally discouraged for women to join the military. When the war began, she wanted to fight, but she wasn't allowed in combat because she was a woman. So she went to being part of the communications and American intelligence department, working through the battlefield and world governments in the base. She was also a spy for a little while.

Weapons: Walther PPK

Good or Evil or Neutral: Good

Other: None

Changing her appearance! That way when I write, I have better imagery or the charrie.

Appearance: Basically the same, but instead she has brown hair (still curly and about shoulder length, and still has lighter streaks) But everything else is the same, except her eyes have a bit more green in them.

Alas, I admit it. This guy was going to be my character for the now-probably-doomed Civil War RP, but since as I'm guessing it's not going to be revived anytime soon, it's nice to have another outlet for my multitude of CW knowledge.

Also, I am very open for shipping him with a character of any gender. Hit me up, y'all.

———

Name: Phoenix (or Poe for short)

Gender: Male

Exhibit: Civil War of course!

Appearance: Dark brown skin, sharp obsidian eyes. Curly hair cut close to his scalp. Kind of tall. Badly broke his left leg at age 14 and didn't get it set correctly, so it's a little shorter than his right. He walks awkwardly, with something of a limp. He's become used to it, however, and it isn't much of an impediment on a day-to-day basis.

He wears patched-up wool trousers, a slightly large linen shirt with the sleeves rolled up, and carries a violin/bow.

Personality: Closed off, careful, very deliberate. Doesn't rush into things, the sort to calculate each step before taking it. Loyal, stubborn, difficult to persuade to change his opinion. Unflinching in the face of danger.

Can be aloof to the point of extreme haughtiness. Generally a good guy, but really not an easy person to like. He nibbles on his lip when thinking.

Backstory (I made Poe up so):  He was a runaway slave who escaped at the age of 12 and made his way to Boston, where he started work at a factory. He enlisted in the 54th Massachusetts Regiment (the first all-black fighting military regiment) in order to fight for the Union. He died during the battle of Fort Wagner.

He plays the violin very well and gained some notoriety among the camps during the war for this, which is why he exists in the exhibit at all.

Weapons: Gatling gun freak yeah! The first ever rapid-fire spring loaded weapon and the forerunner to the modern machine gun!

Good or evil or neutral: Lawful neutral, but more towards good. He's a stickler for rules.

Also, I noticed an irritating lack of night guard charries... I'll definitely make one if no one else does!

Yeah, you should do one if no one makes one in, say, 1.5 days. Since we start in three days. :)

Sorry I'm so late!

Name: Stegosaurus, Nicknamed 'Spike' (original, I know)

Gender: Male

Exhibit: Dinosaur exhibit

Appearance: Green scaly skin with large plates along his spine. Basically, if you know what a stegosaurus looks like, he looks like that, but with green skin and one spike on his tail larger than the rest. (Ambiguity! YAY!)

Personality:He's a dinosaur, but he acts more like a dog. He's playful, a little bit crazy, and likes to chase squirrels.

Backstory: Uhhh... He's a dinosaur skeleton found in west Nevada with skin patched onto him to look cooler.

Weapons: His spiked tail, but he uses his plates fr defence.

Good or evil or neutral: Good!

Abigail, you can make the other night guard,.

Name: Annika "Nicky" Jameson

Exhibit: none, they're a night guard

Appearance: Brown skin, black eyes, hair pixie-cut and dyed bright purple. Wears their night guard uniform for work, but likes athletic wear most of the rest of the time: t-shirts and tank tops, long loose shorts, sneakers, wireless headphones, their favorite chartreuse hoodie, all in bright colors.

Personality: Peppy, resourceful, never seems to do anything slowly. This can sometimes mean rushing into things a bit too much and getting into sticky situations that could have easily been avoided. Gregarious and outgoing, excellent at managing small teams of workers, but gets frustrated quickly with long or boring tasks.

Backstory:  Nicky has always lived in [the city where this museum is? NYC??], though has moved apartments several times. Parents are divorced, though it wasn't a messy one; they have a younger brother Diamond and younger sister Choral, fraternal twins, both in college. Nicky majored in archaeology and worked at a McDonald's drive-through for most of it, and rather liked night shifts. Tried a forensic archaeology internship for a few months after graduation, but didn't really like it; this is their first job after that.

Weapons: Tai chi. Also a really fast runner, which is useful when they can't or don't want to win a fight.

Good or evil or neutral: Chaotic good, for the most part. Might act closer to chaotic neutral in life-or-death situations.

Koda says twoe. Aw, Koda, what's up that you're so woeful all of a sudden?

@Admins: I made a post to this thread early yesterday afternoon, but it still hasn't shown up. It was a character sheet for a character named Nicky who uses they/them pronouns; I asked at the top for anyone who had a problem with that to please tell me.

It's still under consideration among editors because of the characteristic you mention. We may allow the character but not discussion of the characteristic, if that makes sense. Yet to be decided.

Okay, thanks for letting me know. @Brookeira as well as Admins, would it work better if I switched Nicky to male or female?

Yes, then we could post the character right away.

(Also, sorry if I'm being too nosy, but does Brookeira have a similar post in review right now? I could've sworn I saw on the main Inkwell page that she'd posted, but I still haven't seen anything here.)

No. No other comments are under review at the moment, although there is a list of several I've not looked at for the first time yet waiting. I'm working on them right now.

Okay, thanks. I'm waiting on Brookeira before I make a final decision, but I'm thinking of changing Nicky to female and moving on.

Yes!!!! I'm back on!!!! Though Mark might wonder where his computer's gone pretty soon....

Can I still make that night guard? (Thanks Brooke!!)

Name: Finn O'Connell

Gender: guy

Exhibit: none

Appearance: brown-tawny hair that kind of puffs up a little (to his annoyance), umm, lets see, how about light blue-green eyes, tall, a bit awkward posture (explained more in personality). A bit handsome? Idk.

Personality: the kind of person you have to care for because he's pitifully inept in most situations. (He's actually pretty capable, he just puts on the personality described in the previous sentence.)  So this description has to be divided in two parts. At first meeting: he's shy, kind, tries to save other people from trouble but ends up making it worse. When you really know him: he honestly doesn't care what happens. Loves trouble and disaster if he has a safe spot from the sidelines. Is a first meeting-last impression person, easily falls in "love".

Backstory: he just graduated out of college and took on this job to get some money while he starts up his own business. All he wants is a quiet, easy, money-paying, temporary thing to do. So he hates how everything comes to life. Unfortunately, the only way he sees of calming all the crazy robot figures is joining in the battle.

Weapons: set up a cannon in the lobby, also carries around a sword (who doesn't want one?)

Good, evil, or neutral: good? He's fine with all the people coming alive (got a couple friends in the various exhibits ; ) just wants the battle to stop.

Other: Is this okay? Not sure about the giant cannon.

And I didn't even explain why he's awkward (so sorry for the quick assemble of conflicting qualities in one character).

I should've added that he has to be doing something and can't stand around quietly. So if it's very crucially important that he stay still, he's supreme uncomfortable/awkward

Abigail (the CBer) can have the role if she wants it though
