Welcome to GSD!

Chatterbox: Inkwell

Welcome to GSD!

Welcome to GSD!

No catagory of classes are more important than the other, and you will all be doing the same general activities.

If you got mostly A's on your survey, read this letter (please).

Hey students!

Congratulations on getting into GSD, and welcome to Aim! This letter is proof that you have mad skills, a tolerance for weirdness, and (hopefully, because you're going to need it) an excessive amount of energy.

In Aim (the class led by yours truly), we ask the big questions, like; "Is fire a hazard or a tool?" "Are the cupcakes poisoned?" "Is it possible to split an arrow down the middle with a second arrow?" And "Who is more important, Snape or Buckbeak?"

For class, please remember to wear flexible (preferrably nonflammable) clothing, and bring a whole lot of enthusiasm.

Can't wait to meet you!

Winston (GSD head trainer of Aim, etc., etc., etc.,)

P.S. The cupcakes are most certainly poisoned.

If you received a majority of "B"s on your survey, please read this letter.

Dear student,

  You have been accepted into the Griffinfeather School for the Determined. This letter alone is proof that you are strong, ambitious, and extremely bright. However, I accept nothing but the best from my students, and therefor expect all of you to keep up with our rigorous classes and extensive training.

When attending class, please remember to follow rules that will be set for your own safety. Inflammable attire is a wise choice. Also, please take precautions against electrical shock when working in the robotics lab.

You may have realized by now that you have very special talents that most people at your age do not even dream about practicing, let alone perfecting. Since you were accepted into "Build", that means that you are, to some degree, a strategist. You have the power to plan and create and take action. Even at your age, you can save, protect, and summon armies of creativity beyond your wildest dreams. It all starts in this school. You are the earth's future in more ways than you understand.

I look forward to seeing you in class.

Sincerely,

Sasha Night, Headmistriss of Griffinfeather School and leader of the "Build" training.

P.S. When attending class, please remember to follow rules that will be set for your own safety. Inflammable attire is a wise choice. Also, please take precautions against electrical shock when working in the robotics lab.

If you received mostly "C"s on your survey, please glance this way.

Hello students!

Congratulations on making it in to GSD, and more importantly, on being selected for the "Cabriole" training group. Here, we treat life as a dance; it escalates into tension, elongates into beauty, and falls back into patterns that are forever changing. You were chosen because you are a dreamer. You are a prodigious thinker and are full of art. You are more than welcome at this school and in these classes. The only rules are; no fudgeling, no smickering, and no coprolalia.

I await your arrival with eager anticipation.

Sincerely,

Miss Brunn, librarian and head of "Cabriole" training agglomeration.

Jela~

A nervous excitement bubbled up inside Jela as she threw the last pieces of clothing inside her suitcase. She was leaving for Griffinfeather. Her parents had been overjoyed at the offer of a free, specialized education, and had sent off her information almost immediately. Now, as she zipped up her suitcase and pulled it off her bed, she wondered if maybe this hadn't been the best idea. What kind of school told its pupils to bring inflammable clothing? She realized she was nervously chewing on her nails, and she forced herself to stop. It was just a school. There was no reason to be nervous. She hoisted her suitcase down the stairs and went to join her mom, who was waiting by the car. Her mom was a tall, beautiful woman with warm brown skin and eyes the color of melted chocolate. She gave her daughter a quick hug before climbing into the driver's seat. "You ready for this Jey?" Jela clambered into the backseat and gave her mother a nervous grin. "I sure hope so."

A few hours later, the car rolled up to an iron gate with the words "Griffinfeather School for the Determined" spelled out on it. Three figures stood in front of it, and Jela felt a fresh spurt of nerves surge through her. Her mom gave her a warm smile. "I guess this is where you get out.". She engulfed Jela in a hug. "I love you baby girl. Go change the world for me." Jela nodded and tried to restrain the tightness inside her chest as she climbed out of the car and headed towards her new life.

Reminder for multiple people posting: Rose bud (hello, that's me!) is on the keyboard b/c she is a brilliantly fast typist, and Cinderella is looking over my shoulder and whispering directions and stuff. So everything is slightly edited my me (Rose bud).

Also, if you're wondering why we are writing what I consider to be kind of late at night, it is because we just saw Wonder Woman and are therefor too busy crying our eyes out to sleep.  '

The world didn't exsist before Shakespeare.

Sasha~

Winston's words from yesterday whirr through my head, dredging up horrific memories that set my sleep alight with nightmares. At dawn, I give up all hopes of truly peaceful rest and set to work on the daunting stack of paperwork in my office. So many children...that's good, right? We have more to train for our cause...but so many in possible danger. The keyboard clacks compfortable beneath my fingertips. I sign forms, stamp envelopes, work into a pattern. Soon, it's 8:00, and Lizzy's silver van is skidding to a stop outside my office with only hours to spare, as usual. I don't even need to look up to know it's her. My brain keeps sending messages that I feel estranged from, almost like...but no, not like that at all. I tell myself, and stand up to make sure that the preparations for the orientation and the Elemental Quest afterwords are complete.

Caden~

(Note: I'm handing it over to Cinderella. She's had a lot of sugar. Don't trust her. Shakespeare only invented romance, not the world).

I've never been anywhere like Griffinfeather.

The campus is pristine, with cobblestone courtyards and verdant gardens and people hurrying about it. But every once and a while, if you look hard enough, there are abnormalities. The proud stone fountain is oddly scarred. There is a smaller building atompt a larger one. Fields close to the campus are messily littered with targets and broken wood arrows. I look around, clutching my suitcase closer and closer to my chest.

I wonder what the other future students think of me. I wonder what I think of them, too, really. They're all clutching tested inflamable suits and smiling nervously and standing beside their parents. I also wonder in that moment what it would be like to have parents of whom are proud of me.

Sorry for the back-and-forth here. Just trying to give the whole story! Also, as Brookeria will likely realize, I copied and pasted some bits from the old RP. I'm sorry about the un-originality, but I really didn't feel like writing a whole other orientation speech/Sasha looking at everyone.

Winston~

Orientations are always so EARLY. Which is exactly why I protest the 10:00 time every year by being late. And Sasha never notices. If I'm accidentally late or "unpresentable" or behind on something or other, she always fusses and demands that I act proffesionally. But when I protest on orientation day? Not even a glare or a hissed whisper of, "Set your alarm earlier."

Today is no different. I slip in to the auditorium side door while the students nervously file in the front double doors. The other teachers are lined up to the side of the platform. I take my place in the back, staring at the back of Lizzy Brunn's vivaciously curly hair.

Sasha~

I stare at the auditorium doors, a mix of emotions rising in my chest. Another year. Another year. I love what I do. But I can't shake the feeling that the shadows around me are moving...

Winston~

Tap. Tap. Tap. At the first sound of Sasha's high heels against the linolium floor (the auditorium is the newest part of the school), all the nervously whispering and fidgeting students go absolutely silent. She has that effect on people. I can't help smiling. Her eyes stare straight ahead, glittering and cold. Her lips form a perfect, pursed red line. And then they open, slowly, and she begins to speak.

Sasha~

Before I even begin an orientation, I like to get to know all the new students who will be attending Griffinfeather School. I do this by studying everyone, discretely, while I spill out the usual rules and instructions which have imbedded themselves so far into my mind that I barely have to think to let them out.

The girl with brown hair pulled back in a bun smiling and clutching a book to her chest cannot be anyone other than Vera.

"We founded Griffinfeather school three years ago..." I talk on through my memorized speech. I look at Winston. I didn't mention who all founded Griffinfeather school, and he noticed this instantly. Scanning the room again, my eyes settle on a girl who reminds me of someone. With a start, I realize who. Myself. Her hair frames her smart but almost cold-looking face, and she twirls a pencil between her fingers.

Another girl sits beside her, ing lookrelaxed, but with a hint of determination in every barely noticeable detail—the way her fingers curl just slightly around the chair armrests; a slight wrinkle above her nose, the hints of an invisiable smirk hidden  behind her seemingly placid face. She is much more dangerous than she thinks she is. But maybe that's why I accpeted her. She catches my eye and smiles confidently. I nearly stumble with my the end of the orientation speech ("All of these rules must be followed at ALL TIMES, unless you are with Winston. Thank you, and we hope you will enjoy every school day"), but catch myself.

Winston~

Except with Winston, of course, with whom you can act like wild banshees, I think happily. Perhaps I can persaude her to add that into her speech next year...

Sasha steps down off the platform, and Lizzy rushes to take her place, her almost motherly manners, leaping enthusiasm, and obvious fondness for big words soothe any anxious parents as she talks to them about residential life. The speech goes by in a blur of energetic hand-motions and bouncing black curls.

Then it's time for the goodbyes. Some students hug their parents and cry, others are so excited about the accadimics that they say quick but still heartfelt goodbyes, and a handful stand in corners; alone.

After the audience is free from bothersome grownups, the real fun begins. Slowly, the lights dim, revealing a projection on the wall above the platform. I can't help but grin as the kids gasp and whisper, looking at the image on the screen. Adrian steps up to the podium, looking very pleased as he recites the words projected behind him.

"Elemental Quest."

~~

So past RPers, do y'all remember the rules? Again, I'm not going to rewrite them, just copy and paste them. PREPARE FOR EPTACULARITY!

Wait. Last RPers? What? I most definitely wasn't one of those, so will someone tell me the rules?

P.S. I will post soon, but probably not today. Curse summer swim meets. P

Awww, don't curse your swim meets! Swim hard!!!! Go Hermione!!

Also, here are the rules, copied and pasted from Superschool RP numero uno. This is a "bring out the special abilities in the students" game.

Here is Sasha's explanation of the game:

"The goal of the game," I continue, "is to collect 1 token from 5 different areas on the campus, each representing a different elemental challenge. The team with the most tokens wins overall. In addition, class winners will be chosen based on preformance and team work. The challenges are: 1. snow, located somewhere in this building, 2. fire, located in the recreational area, 3., stone, located on the roof of the building, 4., desert, located in the other class building, and 5., water, located in the forest. Your challenge: go, survive each of the zones, find the hidden tokens, and bring them back here. Myself and other teachers will be standing by if something happens."

Official rules:

The Elemental Quest is a game that EVERYONE in the school participates in. Yes, even the teachers. Dangerous, thrilling, and fun, 3 teams will compete against each other to collect 5 tokens from 5 different areas designed to test each student. The areas:

1. Snow (affectionately called Narnia or The Wardrobe by Lizzy). Not exactly a winter wonderland, the "snow" area is located somewhere in Sasha's building, although the entrance is hidden (somewhere in the library perhaps?). Covered in snow and ice and liable to occassional blizzards created by the blizzard stimulator. Ah, here is where the teachers come in! They will be behind the scenes trying to keep you from your goal, which is, of course, the token, hidden somewhere in the area.

2. Lava/fire. The stone fountain is not all it seems to be. All Adrian has to do is pull a lever to send hot "lava" spurting from the top. The token will be hidden somewhere in the fountain, the students just have to brave the heat!

3. Desert. By far the usual favorite among the students, the desert area is located in the basement of Winston's building. Stimulated sandstorms are to be expected, as well as giant sand castles. Tut tut, the things Winston and Aim do in their free time..anyway, if someone decided to burry a token within a sandcastle, it wasn't me!

4. Stone. The most intimidating of all, stone is located on the roof of Sasha's building (yes, as Cinderella described on her post, there is a small building on built on top of the flat roof of Sasha's building). This complicated stone maze is COMPLETELY dark inside. Not a speck of light. And yet you must still find a token hidden somewhere in the inky blackness.

5. Water/forest. Adrian's frequent haunt. Picturesque gardens, tumbling waterfalls (and, erm, fatally sharp rocks), flowing rivers and exotic plants (as well as a couple exotic animals: birds mostly, and a few snakes) make up the enterior of this huge greenhouse nestled in the woods behind the main school buildings. Of course, there is always the plausibility of drowning or falling unsuported from one of the high trees. Teachers are standing by to protect you in these circumstances, but be warned: they cannot always save you, so you must have a certain ammount of skill and alertness.

So, who is ready to play Elemental Quest?? No killing or maiming or you lose your (probably poisoned) cupcakes.

Shared charrie alert!

Drew~

"Lava?" "Fatally sharp rocks??" "Snake???" Is this even legal???? I look around at the other students, who are sitting in stunned silent.

"Begin strategizing with your teams!" Finishes the guy on the platform. What was his name? Adam? Adrian? A low, whispering chatter rushes through the halls, broken suddenly by a yell.

"CABRIOLE OVER HERE! CABRIOLE HERE!"

I stumble over to the small knot that is the Cabriole group. A swarm of students rush the other way, nearly knocking me to the ground.

"BUILD HERE! BUILD STUDENTS HERE!"

Someone steps on my foot, hastily apologizing before sprinting away. I grimace against the pain in my foot, but finally make it to the Cabriole huddle. A tall girl seemed to be taking control of the situation.

~

A/N: secondary charries fill in the rest of the school. Just people we mention by name and stuff.

"Okay, this sounds pretty freaky, but I bet we can win," she says, "so any ideas?"

"Has anyone read Percy Jackson?" A freckled boy who is so  scrawny and long he looks like a frog pipes up, "this is like capture the flag. We have to come up with a distraction!"

"Ooh, I love Percy Jackson! It's like, totally awesome!" Another girl ejaculates.

"I prefer Harry Potter," I mutter under my breath. This is school, not some fantasy novel. "I'll help with the distraction. Which Elemental Site do we go to first?"

The tall girl looks unsure, "I don't think it matters."

" Narnia!" Someone yells.

"FOR NARNIA AND THE NORTH!"screams the girl who fangirled over Percy Jackson a second ago.

"Okay," said the tall girl, "we'll head for Narnia."

"And if any other teams decide to go there, we'll distract them!" Imyerjected frog-boy.

"We aren't going to win this," I say quietly, "we have to collect the most tokens. We should split up." No one heard. Or maybe no one cared. They were caught up in the new team and already sharing nes and interests.

Jela~

As soon as Sasha finished speaking there was a surge of activity as students rushed to their various groups. Jela was caught along in the undercurrent of motion and had to struggle to make her way towards Build. When she reached them, the air was filled with the buzz of conversation. "We could...." "No, but what if....." "If we timed it right.....". A tall girl with long, wavy red hair and bright green eyes (side charrie) raises her hand into the air, cutting through the noise instantly. "Ok, everyone. Listen up. I don't know any of you, but we all got the same letter, which leads me to conclude that we're all somehow similar. Now, if you're like me, you'll be wanting to plan this out. So.... ideas?" Several people shot off ideas, and Jela steeled herself. It was now or never. She stepped forwards. "I...... I can get us through the maze." The conversation halted, and Jela felt all eyes turn towards her. She gulped. Then, to her surprise, the girl nodded. "Ok. Anybody want to go with?" Jela was stunned. She had been expecting a million questions about how or why she would be able to do this, but the girl had simply accepted it and moved on without question. This group held many secrets, and everyone knew it because everyone else held them too.

A boy with messy brown hair stepped forwards. "I'll go with her. I think I spotted the maze on top of a building somewhere." The girl nodded. "Anyone else?" Another girl, her hair pulled up into a braid, walked up and stood next to the boy. "I'll come." The girl who seemed to be in charge nodded. "Good. Go." Without another word, Jela and her new teammates rushed off towards the stone token.

By the time they reached the top of the building, Jela was panting. They had had to go up several flights of stairs, and her thighs and calves were burning from the exertion. The girl strode up to the door of the maze and paused, turning to Jela and the boy. "I'm Zan, by the way." The boy raised his hand in greeting. "Caden." They both turned to Jela, staring at her expectantly. She panted out, "Jela. Nice to meet you." Zan turned away and gripped the door handle. "So, you can get us through this thing?" Jela nodded and went to stand beside her. "I hope so." Zan nodded, and for a moment, Jela could have sworn her eyes gave a brief flicker. "I could get us through this thing if only there was light." Caden gave her an odd look. "I'm sure we all could." Zan ignored him and turned the door handle.

As promised, the maze was pitch black. Jela reached her hand out to touch the wall, trying to gather herself before the door closed, plunging them into darkness. Caden's voice came through the stillness. "Ok, now what." Jela inhaled deeply, before placing her hands in front of her face. "You're going to think this is weird. Just...... trust me." Inhaling deeply, she brought her hands apart, then thrust them together with a loud slap. Instantly, the sound waves spread out from her. She closed her eyes, despite the fact that having them open made no distance in the dark, and mentally activated the part of her that could hear..... everything.

She listened to the sound waves as they bounced off walls, echoed off corners. She followed them to the center, where they pinged off of something hard and small. The token. Her eyes snapped open, and she grinned in the darkness. "Ok guys. First, we're going to need to turn right."

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Sorry for the rather lackluster quality, but it's late at the time I'm actually writing this, and I need to be in bed. Hope I didn't control anybody too much! (Really sorry if I did)
Luna says "ricu". That's a special type of clay that we use in pottery, and that only gets fired twice a year. I made a soap dish out of it once. (Actually, it's called raku, pronounced Ra-coo, but close enough.)
*No, actually. I said rice u. Because you should eat rice sometime.*
Kyra~
These kids are mega-fandomy, I think happily, sort of zoning out as a tall girl takes control of the Cabriole group.
"For Narnia and the North!" a girl screams, and Cabriole charges torwards Sasha's building. I run after them, but, clumsy as always, I bump into a girl with brown hair. She pokes me, but I take it to be a friendly "watch out" rather than "back off, freak".
"Hi, I'm Kyra," I say.
"Vera, good to meet you."
"Why aren't they strategizng?" I ask her. "Are we just going to charge off without any sort of plan?"
"I guess so. Have you got any better ideas?"
"Well, we should probably find out what the other groups are doing, I guess,"
"How?" she asks.
"None of them know us, so we could sneak into their groups. Maybe they wouldn't notice us."
"I dunno, those Build kids look clever, like they remember faces and would recognize us," Vera worries.
"Risk is part of the game. I'll take Build, and you could take Aim, if you want."
"Are we just spying, shouldn't we try to mess them up, as well?"
"Good idea. Try to get an important part in their plan without breaking your cover, and then mess up big time."
Vera, jogs torwards the Aim group, but calls over her shoulder, "Do't forget to keep them away from Cabriole!"
I give her a thumbs up, then find my way to the edge of the Build crowd.
Sorry, I'm on vacation my posts will be short.
Winston~
Honestly, the teachers enjoy this more than the kids. As soon as everyone splits up to strategize, we get to work. I see Adrian flick the switch on the fountain, which immediately starts spurting lava, as I run to my building to monitering the desert. Clunking down the stairs to the basement, I flick on blazing hot lights as I go. In the hidden control room, I boot up the cameras in order to see the desert spread out just one wall (and a secreted door that only I know about) away from the little control room. Next, I reach for the headset lying on the desk in front of my chair. Usually, I rely on my perfect accuracy to send paper airplane messages around campus , but I do use the headset during elemental quest. After all, there are no windows in the elemental sites geniously designed by Adrian.
"Winston, are you present?" Lizzy's voice crackles in my headset.
"Yup. I move fast."
"Aim is journeying your direction with a few Cabriole students in toe. The remaining Cabriole students found the secret passage with stunning speed," she continued with obviously pride, "Drew had a talent for riddles. She assumed I would use the cliche sliding bookshelf gimick, and swiftly concluded that The Lion, The Witch, and the Wardrobe would be the trigger-" Her voice broke off into static. As usual, Lizzy's talkativeness was too much for the  poor headsets.
"We will claim victory this time, just wait!" She ends.
"Oh yeah? Aim has a knack for surviving sandstorms," I retort. Lizzy draws breath for a counter, but is cut off by Sasha.
"Build has their first token," I hear a rare smile in her voice, "better get the dustpans out, kitchen duty is coming your way!
