MY FIRST RP!

Chatterbox: Inkwell

MY FIRST RP!

MY FIRST RP!

I've only been at Ivemara Academy for five minutes, and I've already learned something:
I'm gonna hate it here.

It's the absolute worst. The place looks like it's been here since the Stone Age. And so does the headmistress, Ms. Stowell. Her smile's just as tight as the bun on the back of her head. I still can't believe that my mom's making me spend the rest of my school years here. But don't you think that it ends there, because you haven't heard about the uniforms yet. Ugh, the uniforms. Where do I begin? Well, let's go from bottom to top. The shoes are black Mary Janes. Mary Janes were popular in the 1960s. We have to wear white leggings with a maroon and grey plaid skirt, and a red polo shirt with the Ivemara crest on the top right corner. Hideous. And itchy too. We were expected to arrive in our uniforms, and I've spent the last few hours in it. I'm going to hate having to practically live in it. Those are just a few reasons why i'm going to hate it at Ivemara Academy For The Magically Gifted.

...

Okay then! Now that that's out of the way, on to the details! So basically we're all students at thr Ivemara Academy For The Magically Gifted, and we've been sent here becausewe need to learn to control our powers.

Keiran-

Keiran stood just as a crackle of magic rippled through the air above his head. A thin golden serpent slithered across the ceiling, delicate and thread-like, and opened its dainty mouth. A message came out in the voice of the Headmistress.

”The following students will proceed to my office at once: Keiran Astrix, Russel Broadwaters,  Imogene Dallas, Asher and Elle Dvotoski, Sariel Edner, Samara George, Erin Griffith, and Asani Lerula.”

The snake vanished in a swirl of golden smoke. Keiran cocked an eyebrow. This couldn’t be about his uniform; the kids coming with him were all in their uniforms. Even Russel, who was staring at Keiran with some mixture of smigness and confusion. Well, an Astrix did tend to make people stare.

Keiran stood and rolled his neck. The others followed suit,  walking with Keiran down a roughstone corridor. Keiran sent a smirk toward Imogene, Asani, and Erin. Erin rolled her eyes.

”Oh, gods, stop that.” Russel said. Keiran turned to look down.

”Sorry, speak up. Can’t hear you from down there.”

Russel rolled his eyes. They were a clear, warm green.

Keiran’s glasses felt very cold.

The group entered Ms. Stowell’s office. She stood as they entered, giving them a stiff and strained grin.

”Ah, you’re here! Welcome, welcome. You aren’t in trouble.”

The group sat in front of her beastlike mahogany desk. She straightened herself.

”This matter is simply... of great importance.

”As you know, your great-great-grandparents attended this school over a century ago. They were all talented, and had similar abilities. But they wanted more power.”

”What happened?” asked Sariel, tilting her head with wide, unblinking eyes. Keiran suppressed a shiver.

”Your grandparents tried to perform a complex spell. It... failed.”

There was a brief, awkward silence. Stowell cleared her throat.

”Perhaps it’s best if I showed you. Sariel, you were blessed with the gift of memory, correct?”

Sariel nodded, black hair grazing her forehead. The headmistress pulled a vial from the wall.

”Scatter this in the air and concentrate.” Stowell said. Keiran and Russel exchanged a confused look. Sariel simply stood, throwing the dust found in the vial into the air. It flashed indigo in front of Keiran, black for Asher, silver for Sariel, orange for Russel, fawn for Samara, gold for Elle, red for Asani, glittering white for Erin, and deep blue for Imogene. The dust settled on each person in their color. Asani let out a noise of protest and anger. The room faded around them.

Keiran and the others were floating, as specters, in a small room. A woman with green eyes and black hair appeared in the room, burning into existence like a brand in the air. She turned to the door and smiled.

A man entered, face expressionless. “Reese, you didn’t have to teleport. The door was open.”

The woman laughed. “The Broadwaters family always makes a dramatic entrance.”

Broadwaters! The woman was Russel’s great-great grandmother. The man was likely Sariel’s ancestor, judging by the blue eyes and eerie look.

”Am I late?” a woman with pale blonde hair and blushing cheeks entered. Imogene’s great-great. “Hello, Reese and Saren!” She giggled.

“Hello, Izzy!” Reese hugged her. Izzy Dallas had infectious laughter. Soon after, a woman with Erin’s eyes entered with a woman with Asani’s hair tone. Erin’s great-great was named Emily, while Asani’s was called Annika. A kind-eyed woman was Samara’s ancestor, Sarah. Two twins came next: Eldrick and Asaya Dvotoski.

“Wonder where starboy is?” Asaya said, smirking. Dark matter danced at her fingertips.

”Arriving.” said a man as he entered. Keiran’s breath caught. He was the spitting image of his own grandfather, Calvin Astrix.

“Can we start now, cosmo? I have a date.” said Reese Broadwaters. Calvin winced.

Keiran stared at his grandfather. He wasn’t wearing glasses. His grandfather’s eyes were a gorgeous shade of indigo.

So it wasn’t hereditary.

Keiran was just a freak of nature.

The memory became blurred. Sariel was losing control. It sped up. Keiran’s grandfather was shouting, clutching his head. All of their ancestors were. They fell to the ground, writhing, before standing with ghostlike grins on their faces.

”THE FORBIDDEN WILL CLAIM THEIR HOME ONCE MORE.” Calvin said, in a voice that wasn’t his.

The memory vanished.

Elle~

“What was that?” I gasp.

The Headmistress curtly nods. “That spell was to protect all the children in this academy from the darkness that is coming. However, it failed, and the summer of that very year, all students who had no family to go to died from the evil force that entered the school.”

“Voldemort level stuff eh?” Asher whispers to me.

I smirk but pay attention to what the Headmistress continues to say. “This year, the administration believes that you students, the descendants, can conjure the same spell to protect this from happening again. The spell is a combo of all your powers, the ancient Inerga spell. Go to the library in your free time, it will be listed there.”

“I already know about it,” I interrupt.

“What?” Headmistress asks.

Suddenly eyes are on me, and I feel my face heat up.

“Er... the spell. I know the riddle for it, at least. Our father used to read it to us before bedtime. Weird, I know, but still.”

“Pray tell,” the Headmistress replies.

I nod, glancing at Asher. “One will erase the thoughts of the known, and one will leave then come back. Two will join, and combine, with dark and light. One will talk in tongues of the old, the other will eternally change the atmosphere. One will cause unchangeable gaps in space and time. The last will be the ultimate sacrifice. All must join to stop the Forbidden from claiming their home.”

“Dad was so stupid,” Ash mutters.

I shoulder him.

“Fascinating,” The Headmistress whispers. “Well, please, come back when you all think you have the spell.”

I give Ash a confused look before we all file out of the office.

“Elle,” Ash says.

I look at him. “I know. My ancestor wasn’t there.”

Yippee, I think I figured out the riddle!!The lines about individuals are for each of the students and I think I know which one goes to which student!

Sariel looked through the memory with exhaustion. This was from long, long ago... She could barely piece together the fragments of memory found in the vial.

Her ancestor was one of the few who looked nearly exactly the same as her. He held the same stare, the same stare people seemed to hate her for. But... the other ancestors didn't seem to hate him.

As the memory continued, it showed more and more ancestors of the people around her. The last was Keiran's, who Sariel noted, did not wear glasses.

Suddenly, however, the memories became... Messed up. They didn't seem to connect to one another, they lost sight, or hearing. Incredibly loud whispers rang in Sariel's ears, and she cried out in pain. The air around her choked her, she couldn't breath. It was like a void. But the voices were still there, calling out to her, telling her to come to them with wide grins she couldn't see. They reached out to her... Something about home, about forbidden...

"Sariel! Sariel!" Someone was shaking her, but this time she was almost positive they were real. Like a blurred picture, she could make out the face of the headmaster. "Sariel, what happened?"

"Y-you guys saw it right? The memory? How far could you go into it?" Sariel frantically pulled herself together, looking urgent.

"After my ancestor arrived the memory became too fast to see," Keiran told her, a look of worry stretched across his face. "The last thing I saw was all these faces telling us..."

"The forbidden with claim their home once more," Asher shivered. The headmaster nodded and began to explain about how the spell was meant to protect the school.

Sariel could barely make out what people where saying. Something about a riddle, a spell... Then she realized everyone was starting to leave. Shaking out the confusion from her mind, she stepped out with the others.

The others chattered lightly in front of her, their strides wide and bright. Sariel, however, stayed in the back, her head foggy and confused.

She didn't like that. At all. That had never happened. Even when people's memories were forgotten, nothing as big as that would occur. It was incredibly freaking painful. And what was worse... She realized that familiar, horrible feeling was starting to take fruit again. She was forgetting some of her memories. And unlike how it usually is, with just one little memory, one already pretty forgetful memory... This felt like more, like something that would happen over time. It scared her to no end.

So with that fact, she did what she felt best: She recited.

"My name is Sariel Edner. I am 16 years old. I control memories. My parents are Maddy Edner and James Edner. I am part of a prophecy to save this school.

My name is Sariel Edner. I am 16 years old. I control memories. My parents are Maddy Edner and James Edner. I am part of a prophecy to save this school."

Over. And Over.

She hoped it would be enough.

* * *

What I'm sort of getting at here is there was something wrong with that memory, and there is now something wrong with Sariel. *wink wonk*

1. “One will erase the thoughts of the known" Sariel. She has the power over memory, after all.

2. "One will leave then come back" Russel. He has teleportation!

3 & 4. "Two will join, and combine, with dark and light" Elle and Asher? Elle creates illusions, which would involve bending light; Asher controls dark matter.

ALTERNATIVELY: The two are Imogene and Asani (water is dark, fire is light)

5. "One will talk in tongues of the old" Samara! She speaks many languages.

6. "The other will eternally change the atmosphere" Erin? Erin has cold/ice abilities, so this could make sense. It could also be Asani, who has heat/fire abilities.

7. "One will cause unchangeable gaps in space and time" Keiran. That one's pretty obvious. :)

8. "The last will be the ultimate sacrifice" Could be one of them!

NOTE: Elle said "my ancestor wasn't there", so maybe Elle isn't involved in the prophecy itself, or will become evil? IF SO:

1: Sariel

2: Russel

3 & 4: Imogene and Asani

5: Samara

6: Erin

7: Keiran

8: ... Asher? :0

Doctor Who?:

I’d like to add that I meant to type “two will change the atmosphere.” With that, PinkPanther has a theory. Take it away girl.

PinkPanther:

One who erases thoughts of the known is Sariel

One will leave then come back is Russel

Dark is my charrie, Asher, and light is Asani

The one who talks in tongues of the old is Mara

Eternally change the atmosphere is Imogene and Erin

Space and time gaps is Kieran

Ultimate sacrifice is Elle? I have a feeling that’s also cause her ancestor didn’t show?

Is this right?

Doctor Who?:

Perhaps. ;)

I'm pretty sure Elle is the ultimate sacrifice...

Oh also, @PinkPanther, I was thinking that at some point Asani and Asher could become friends... I mean, not suddenly, I just think that I could maybe introduce them soonish, and they could hang out together, because they are kind of similar. They're both sort of socially awkward, and they both have kind of dark powers (I mean, fire... destruction)...

Also, @everyone, just so you know, Asani isn't as angry as I made her seem through my charrie, so don't go around making her get mad at everything. She can just be a little irritable and kind of sarcastic, but she is overall nice. She WILL get mad if someone is being mean to another person, or if someone is being cruel in a situation that she has strong feelings about.

I hope that makes sense. Sorry for not making myself clear; it's kind of hard to describe her character, and characters will sometimes shift throughout my writing. Bear with me. By the way, I really like what all of you have been writing, about the prophecy, etc., and I will try to post soon. I have been kinda busy lately, so I apologize for not posting. I've been trying to keep up with the story so far (gasp, pant). :)

Okay, welp, then, yippedoodahday, sorry for being annoying and sorry for confusing you all.

Ooh, riddleses we likes to figure them out, precious, or rather we like to figure out the prophecy like in Warriors before the catses do, we does. (Yerss, we're a Gollum impersonator, precious, yesss.)

K. Here's my theory...

One will erase the thoughts of the known: Sariel.

One will leave and then come back: Russell, OR it could be Elle. Like leaving was an illusion. (If it's Elle, I think it is likely it turns out to be it looks like she's dead and then she comes back and saves somebody or something, Idk.)

Two will join and then combine, with dark and light: Asher and Asani. Darkness and fire, which is a sort of light.

One will talk in tongues of the old: Samara, of course, since she can speak any language.

The other will eternally change the atmosphere: There are actually a LOT of possibilities. I think it could definitely be Imogene or Erin, or it COULD be Russell. Technically, teleporting is in the atmosphere, and Russell could do something big in it. Also, Samara and Russell are both characters made by the same person, which accounts for "one" and then "the other." Also, "The other" makes no sense with Erin and Samara or Imogene and Samara.

One will cause unchangeable gaps in space and time: Keiran.

The last will be the ultimate sacrifice: Who knows? There are a lot of possibilities. I think it COULD be Elle, but I also think it's possible that because there is actually one too few lines for all the characters in the prophecy, and Elle's ancestor wasn't there, Elle might not actually be in it for a reason. Like maybe there's a separate prophecy for her, or rather, a lost line to the riddle.

But here are my finalized theories.

The first line is Sariel, the second is Russell, the third about the two is Asher and Asani, the fourth is Samara, the fifth is Imogene,  the sixth is Keiran, and the seventh line... well, that leaves either Erin or Elle. I don't think the fifth line is for two people because it talks about the other. One person. I think the last line could be maaaybe Erin's and that comes back to my Elle-has-a-missing-line-that-was-lost-ages-ago-that-she-has-to-find theory. Also, I think the line about "the last" could be Erin because she was the last to arrive at the school of all the main characters.

That's all I have!

Asher~

“Elle, look at me.”

She looks up.

“It’ll be fine. Sariel was exhausted, poor thing. Maybe she forgot to include your ancestor.”

Elle starts shaking her head. “But Asher, it would make sense, wouldn’t it? I’ve always wondered who the sacrifice would be in dad’s stories, and I’m not even a part of your family by blood. All those people...those were their real ancestors. Heck, you even had two!”

“That doesn’t matter-“

“It does!” she interrupts. “Asher, we need to find out where I really came from. Don’t you have a feeling that me being the only orphan with powers that dad coincidentally happened to stumble upon is sugar coated and too easy?”

“I think you’re over complicating things-“

“The why weren’t my ancestors there?”

“Again, Sariel-“

“No. She started wavering towards the end. Not in the beginning when everyone was introduced. You know this. You won’t admit it.”

“Elle-“

“You won’t! Asher, what’s going to happen?”

I shake my head. “We’ll figure this out. You, me, we can ask Mara or Kieran or others if they can help too-“

“No,” she interrupts again. Well, she’s interrupted me a lot in this past dialogue. “Let’s try not to mix others into this. I don’t want them worrying about me, because it’s not just about me. They have their part of the prophecy to worry about. And if anything happens, it won’t matter. It’s not like they knew me well anyway, save you and Mara.”

“Elle, are you hearing yourself?” I exclaim. She’s always been selfless to a fault. “You’re okay with this? We need to fix this, I don’t think that you being a sacrifice means you have to die!”

“Doesn’t it?” Elle replies, breaking down into quiet tears. She slides down the wall, and collapses her head into her knees.

I kneel down beside her, patting her shoulder. Ugh, I’m so bad at comforting people, it’s actually making me wince.

“Elle,” I say more quietly. “You’re not going to die. We’ll figure this out. The future isn’t dead set yet, okay?” I grimace at my accidental pun.

She sniffs and nods, not noticing it, and I pull her into a hug.

Other students walking by look at us in curiosity, and I give them a death (ahhhh) stare. They move along quickly. I feel slightly bad, but I also know Elle doesn’t like showing this side of her, and I only want to respect her wishes.

I think back to the prophecy. I believe I’ve got everything figured out. I’m obviously the dark that it talks about. Gee, even the prophecy emphasises how dark I am. Really ‘preciate it.

But it would make sense for everyone else. The two people with weather powers would change the atmosphere. Ice and water. Fire, I’m guessing, is my opposite. Gosh, who knew I’d be opposite from the flaming red head, yet we’d somehow combine our powers.

We all know where Key and Mara fit in. Language and space, and Russell’s teleportation powers cause him to come and go. Thoughts is Sariel.

Elle shakily stands up, and I stand up with her as we walk back to...wherever. I spot Mara and pass Elle off to her, as they start talking a bit. I can tell Elle isn’t being very explanatory though. I walk off and find Kieran, where he and Russel are trying to figure out the riddle.

Once they’re done, I tell them my own version, and for once afterwards, everything seems a bit calmer.

But this is only the calm before the storm.

Oh wait TWO will change the atmosphere? That sounds like it could be either: Erin and Imogene, ORR Imogene and Russell, going back to my theory that Erin COULD have the last line and Elle's is missing.

Erin~

I dart off to the library immediately, the riddle spinning around my head. Two will eternally change the atmosphere... that has to be me and Imogene. Elle's line is creepy... does that mean she'll actually die? The ulimate sacrifice. But would that truly be death? What if it means something else, something worse that death?

And who know what my line even means? Eternally changing the atmosphere doesn't sound like a minor deal. I sit down, feverishly scribbling, working out theories. It's pretty easy, actually. The prophecy is... rather obvious. My finalized list reads:

Line 1. Sariel

Line 2. Russell

Line 3. Asher and Asani

Line 4. Mara

Line 5. Imogene and me

Line 6. Keiran

Line 7. Elle

I look back at the spot on the paper where I copied down the prophecy. It had an ominous feel to it. Eternally change the atmosphere. And somehow, I have a feeling it's all going to come down to fighting the Forbidden, whoever they are. The prophecy makes it obvious we'll have to face them. Could this prophecy be about the inevitable battle to come, and our fates in it?~

Azkiel says hwyi. I know, I know, I still have tutorial homework to finish over break... ARGH.

(December 30, 2017 - 1:26 pm)

I sit on my bed, looking at the prophecy that I've writtn down. I think that Erin and I are the ones who will eternally change the atmosphere. Right. That kind of makes sense. Now, I need to figure out the others. I know that number 1 is Sariel, 2 could be Russell, 3 is Asher and Asani. 4 would be Mara, 5 is Erin and I, 6 is Keiran, obviously. That would mean that... Elle is the last one. The ultamite sacrifice. She might... She might die. I have to find the others.

Sorry this post was so short, I won't be home for the rest of the day, and I wanted to post before tomorrow.

(December 30, 2017 - 1:27 pm)

Ugh again Allie just posted but I won't have time later to post so whooops.

Also, I find it funny how we're theorizing a poem one of our fellow RPers created. My theory, really, is that Doctor doesn't know and that'll be all improvisation from now.

* * *

They were in the library before Sariel even realized. It was large, and old, filled with thousands and thousands of books.  Sariel would have been excited were it not for the fact that her head hurt like heck.

"Well, we should probably start in the spell section," Asher mused. Everyone else muttered in agreement and separated to do the searching.

As Sariel picked out a book titled "The History of Spellcasting", She noticed Mara walking toward her. Sariel cocked her head to one side.

"We should be researching," Sariel frowned, keeping one finger still on the page she was on. Mara sat down next to her and shook her head.

"Sariel, you are okay right?" Mara fidgeted slightly, her forehead creased in worry. "You didn't look all too good after the memory stopped. Did something happen?"

"It was definitely the worst experience I had with a memory," Sariel stared back at her page, sighing. "But it doesn't matter. We need to get this prophecy done."

"Sariel, seriously, what's the matter?" Sariel ignored her, flipping her pages like a stubborn child.

"Sari-" Sariel got up exasperatedly, an intense and almost irritated expression on her face. Grabbing her book, she walked off to a quieter part of the library.

She found a chair in the corner of the library and opened her book to Chapter 1.

Sariel tried not to notice the searing pain in her head increasing. She knew that she would be able to find some sort of information sooner or later, if she just kept going... But as she reached her 6th book, she decided that enough was enough. Standing up, she brushed off her skirt and began to walk towards the others.

They were all sitting quietly around a large circular table. Once in a while one of them would mutter something to another. Coughing to get their attention, he muttered, "I'm going to my room. Keep working without me."

"There's nothing wrong right?" Imogene lifted her head from her book, doing her best to keep her long hair out of her face.

"Just tired," Sariel stated, placing a palm to her head with exhaustion and pain. She waved goodbye to the others before turning on a heel and walking out. Carefully opening the giant door leading into the library, she sauntered slowly into the hallway.

Without the small distraction of reading, the pain in her head grew to an unbearable amount. Stumbling even more so, she strode into her room and collapsed on her bed.

As she focused on the pain, trying to wash her head of the memories of it(Didn't do much help), she started to realize the voices were coming back. First, they were just whispers, like last time, but then they became louder, like someone increasing the volume of a video. Then there became more voices, and more, all of them jumbled up and barely understandable. She would catch a word or so, like forbidden, or one of the ancestor's name. Sometimes it didn't even feel like english. Then, like a beat, they were repeating her own name.

Sariel, Sariel, Sariel Sariel SARIEL SARIEL

Then in stopped. And slowly the memory started to fade away. The strings of voices and thoughts were lost in Sariel's mind as she desperately tried to grab hold of them. But like a eraser to pencil, there was nothing. All she could remember was something being there.

Then something filled that gap. Another voice, but this time clear and soft. This voice said:

Yia itio pkoalo furbodien.

Then, like, that, Sariel fell into unconsciousness.

* * *

I have a few ideas floating around. This is one of them. Let's see where it brings us.
