Cool!

Name: Aliyah Carlson

Age: 13

Gender: Female she/her

Appearance: Chocolate coloured skin, dark hair. Her hair is short and curly, with one side shaved (she took inspiration from Emmy Raver-Lapman, who was Angelica in SF). She has large brown eyes, and thick eyelashes. She has an athletic build.

Personality: She is super extroverted and optimistic. She is very sarcastic and witty, but is a good person, and always means well.

How you got into theatre: She was a dancer to start, but then her teacher told her that she had a talent for singing during class. She watched a bootleg of Hamilton and hasn't looked back.

Shipping?: Sure

Backstory: Her family doesn't have that much money, so she learned how to dance by herself. When she was 11, she got a scholarship to a dance school. At school, her music teacher told her that she should go into musical theatre, and she watched a Hamilton bootleg and got really into it.

Other: Her favorite shows are Hamilton, West Side Story, and Newsies, because of the choreography (she can Newsies jump!)

My second charrie, because the deadline is today.

Name: Laura Michaels

Age(10-14): 10

Gender/Pronouns: Female, she, her, etc.

Appearance: Average height, with gold- flecked green eyes and wispy, shoulder- length golden blond hair. Slightly tanned skin. Wears bright, colorful clothes and is usually smiling, despite all she has been through.

Personality: Shy and quiet. Vey sweet and compassionate. Innocent. The kind of girl that all adults think is "adorable" and is seen by others her age as "perfect". She keeps her many foster homes a secret, because she rather likes this image. The problem with it is, she doesn't have many friends.

How you got into theatre: Her latest set of foster parents wanted her to try it out.

Open to shipping?(yes or no): No.

Backstory: Laura's father abandoned her and her mother when she was a baby, and took all their money with him. Since her mom hasn't had enough money to take care of her properly, Laura has been bouncing around from one foster home to the next. She wants to find some place (like the theatre) that she can call home no matter where she is.

Other: The cast list (and the first installment!) will be up later today!

PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE ACCEPT ONE MORE PERSON! I KNOW I'M LATE BUT I WILL THANK YOU ETERNALLY!

Name: Timothy Yu

Age(10-14): 14

Gender/Pronouns: Male

Appearance: Jet black hair with his bangs almost covering his almond shaped eyes. Tall, but scrawny. Light skin. Long fingers that play the piano. He doesn’t wear many bright colors, but he’s not goth.

Personality: He tries to act like he doesn’t care, but he does have a conscience and a heart. His emotions show usually only when playing the piano or acting (oh, and also when he talks to his dog, a female husky named Sofia). He doesn’t like singing in front of people because they are always surprised at how good his voice sounds.

How you got into theatre: He genuinely enjoys acting, even if he doesn’t show it when off the stage.

Open to shipping?(yes or no): yes

Backstory: His father was a piano teacher, but he recently died in a car accident. Timothy plays piano to feel connected to him. His mother is currently trying to get over his father’s death, and is distracting herself with all things basketball(she’s a coach).

Other: He is on the basketball team

Hah! Looking through character profiles and I see that I unintentionally set up Timothy and Quill's character to have TENSIONS hah! both play piano on and sing(although T-man doesn't completely enjoy doing the latter in fornt of others). Quill's charrie dislikes the basketball team and Timothy is on it!  WELL. That will make for an interesting plot. Also, wow T-man, you realy got a good part! Practically star of the show! What do you think?

Timothy: Don't call me T-man.

Alright, Daddy Warbucks~

Timothy: Ugh. You would do that.

Ok, Mr. Grumpybucks you can go backstage now! I'm gonna write a little blurb. Did you guys know that in old Solo Writes participants would write diary entries for their character, based on what the author posts? Cool right? I'm gonna give it a try.

Dear Dad,

It's a hard-knock life without you here. Today Mom told me that her girl's travel team is going to vs a team in Miami, which is far away. I can't go with her because of school and stuff, so I have to find someone to stay with or find a relative who can come here. If you were here, I could just stay home as normal. I'm not that familiar with any of the guys on the basketball team, and I don't really know anyone from the cast list posted today. Maybe Mom can convince Aunt Peony to come over. She's the nicest of the 6 Flower Powers, besides Mom. Who knows, I just hope I don't have to stay with Aunt Rose. But as the drama instructor says, 'Ya gotta go with the flow!'

Speaking of drama, you'll never believe what part I got in Annie, this year's school musical. Daddy Warbucks. Nice, right? I can't wait untill practice starts. Then I get to live as a different person. Become someone else. Heck, maybe even some scouter will notice me and give me a new life of doing just that.

I am working on the Minute Waltz by Chopin. Thought you'd like to know. Sofia is giving me a hard time about your old concert shoes. The black leather ones that you'd polish the day before a big performance. She's always sniffing around the closet they're in. I'm trying to keep her from shewing them up. I don't think shoe polish is good for dogs. I tried them on again. Still have a little ways to go. I wish I could fill your shoes, both metaphorically and literally, because Mom needs someone to depend on and she never seems to relize that I'm there for her.

Sofia wants to go on a walk. She still remembers the Get-the-Leash trick that you taught her.

- Timothy

Hope you guys like it! Can't wait for the first installment!

Lily~

I walked home with Maddie and Kathryn. "Todays auditions were fun! I hope I get a big part. I'm a natrual." says Kathryn. "Oh jeez I'm scared! What if I messed up? I've been waiting for my big break since I was 8! Oh please let me get a good part!", Maddie begs. "Chillax Mads. Your awesome.", "I reply. We'll see tommorrow"

Still Lily~

Later that night I was reading Anne of Green Gables, I got a sick feeling. Eila Woodsworth had a perfect chance of beating me to Annie. I shut my book and wrote a letter to my mom, who was travelling to NY for buisness. Dear Mom, Eila is going to beat my to the role of Annie. I know it. I miss you a lot. I could have done better at my audition. Amy was better. I have a good chance of getting Grace Farrel though...... Sincerly, Lily

Maddie~

I quickly ate my dinner and put my plate in the sink. My audition was terrible! I'm such a wannabe. Later Dad came to my room. "Mads, are you ok?", he asked. "Sure, I'm fine", I say sarcasticcly. "My audition was terrible. I did a better audition when I played a ugly stepsister for Cinderella!" I start to cry. I'm way to old to do this! "Aw Mads, your ok!" Dad said. "C'mon, I'll give you some extra TV time."

Sorry this took so long! Between my last few days of elementary school(!!!) and tech week for a show, I haven't been able to post much. Now both of those are over, and I'll be posting more here.
Without further excuses, the first installment!

Installment 1

On Saturday morning, kids throughout Redgrove reacted with every emotion from excitement to anger to disbelief. The drama club cast list had been posted late the previous night, long after auditions, long after even the most determined kids had fallen asleep while waiting for it to be posted.

{}{}{}

"Ensemble. I'm only in the ensemble," said Taylor Reed from his bed, lying flat on his stomach with his phone face- down on the pillow next to him. His mother, standing in the doorway, smiled.
"At least you made it in," she said sympathetically. "I'm sure you'll do great." She walked away, leaving Taylor exasperated. Why did adults always say that? Was it trying to make kids feel better? If so, it never worked.

{}{}{}

Halfway across town, cousins Lily Corette and Maddie Lane were sitting on the porch of Maddie's big blue house when the cast list appeared.
"Yes! Grace!" said Lily, pumping her fist in the air and doing a wild dance that caused her to almost fall off the porch. Maddie put down a half- finished drawing and waited for her cousin to regain sanity.
"How about you?" said Lily, finally stopping to catch her breath.
"Eh, not my best audition. Small but important roles," said Maddie. "When do you think we get costumes?"
"Not in the first week of rehearsal, that much is for sure!" replied her cousin, and they both burst into laughter.

{}{}{}

On the next street, in the kitchen of a medium-sized yellow house, the Woodworth family was eating breakfast, and listening to their daughter Eila explain in detail what had happened at her audition the day before.
"...and then I dropped my arms like this and looked sad, which might not have been the best idea, but-"
"Eila, your cast list is up," said her brother Max from his computer in the corner.
"Oh!" Eila ran over and took a look at the laptop screen. "Yes! I'm Annie!"
"Congratulations!" said her sister Sadie, smiling. The family applauded politely.
Eila couldn't wait for drama on Tuesday.

{}{}{}

In a small white house somewhere in Redgrove, Timothy Yu was playing the piano. As his fingers expertly glided across the keys to play Chopin's Minute Waltz, he was mentally composing a letter to his father.
Dear Dad,....
From somewhere in the room, his Ipad dinged. An email from the director!
 It was the cast list posting.
It's a hard-knock life without you here....
He scanned the list, looking for his name. There it was, at the top of the list.
But as the drama instructor says, "Ya gotta go with the flow!"....
Timothy shut off his Ipad. He had been cast as Daddy Warbucks! Face expressionless, he walked back to the piano bench, as if this had never happened
But inside, he was jumping for joy.
{}{}{}
Hope you guys enjoyed! Installment 2 will be up sometime this weekend (I promise. No more excuses. XD) !
