DnD on the CB

I tried posting this, and, though it was met by a enthusiastic reponse, died quickly. So, I decided to remake it. We will be using DnD 5e core rules, because that's what I have, so don't be a rules lawyer, and don't argue with the DM when I use 5e rules. Now, character sheet.

Charrie name: Serious, please. No "Sir Cupcakes" and "Lord of the Candy", only "Tariks" and "Almarels"

Character age: Above eighteen, please.

Class: Core DnD classes, so Bard, Barbarian, Cleric, Druid, Fighter, Monk, Paladin, Ranger, Rogue, Sorcerer, Warlock, and Wizard.

Race: As with classes, 5e cor races, so Dwarf, Elf, Halfling, Human, Dragonborn, Gnome, Half-elf, Half-orc, and Tiefling.

Character Appearence:

Backstory:

Background: Core DnD backgrounds, Acolyte, Charlatan, Criminal, Entertainer, Folk Hero, Guild Artisan, Hermit, Noble, Outlander, Sage, Sailor, Soldier, and Urchin.

Equipment: Write down your weapon's dice rolls, and your armor's AC additions, just so I can keep track.

Bond:

Ideal:

Flaw:

Spells:

Skills:

Ability Scores: Roll 4d6, remove lowest die roll, though only one of a double.

Strength:

 Dexterity:

Intelligence:

Wisdom:

 Charisma:

Constitution:

Will: A new ability score, devised by me, used for mind control, both saving throws and spell                checks, among other things.

Total Hit Points:

AC:

Speed:

Treasure:

There, that's over with.

Also, I'll post a new installment every Sunday, and you must have posted your actions by then.

Oh gosh yes, I totally reserve!  I can finally put that beautiful handbook I got a couple years ago to good use.  All I use it for right now is admiring the pretty illustrations.

Oh my Claaws, cool! I want to be either a tank or a healer. Wait, how’s this going to work? Are you going to make rolls for us? Oh, should I be stealth? Agh, there’s so much I want to do! I don’t like people stuff so much... Should I wait and choose based on party balance? Ideally we’d have someone from every class. I’m thinking either fighter, cleric, rogue, ranger or bard. Hmm, maybe one of those snooty artist types? Very dedicated to their work but rather disillusioned with other people. Race will almost definitely either be dwarf, elf or human. Hmm, you know what, I might not have as much time as I think I will, so I’m going to go with either barbarian or cleric. Simple that way. I’d like to wait to see what everyone else wants to do and ask how I should fill this sheet out (I sort of know how it works in first edition, but not fifth). Do I just roll a D20 on everything?

Wait, I can just pick a class after my ability scores. Okay: 12, 11, 13, 16, 9, 13, 11. Do I assign these in order or however I want?

Okay. Um. Let's see. You guys are going to have to put your rolls in your posts, and if you don't have polyhedral dice, find a dice rolling app, (i know of a free online one, but it would require a link, so impossible.) And use that. The books say what you should assign your character's top two scores to, but I'll say that the Cleric's highest should be Wisdom, and the Barbarian's is strength, after that, whatever you want. The DnD official site has a free download of the basic rules, but that only covers Fighter, Wizard, Cleric, and Rogue, so no Barbarian. I'd go for cleric, since they're underrepresented and really useful.

All right, Cleric it is!

Strength: 11

Dexterity: 13

Intelligence: 11

Wisdom: 16

Charisma: 9

Constitution: 12

Will: 13

I’ll say age is 30, race is human (or maybe Tiefling, what are tieflings, and does race have any impact on bonuses and stuff?) and background is Acolyte, Guild Artisan or Hermit. Now, tell me about skills, spells and equpment. What can I have and how do I get it?

Just a note: No Tieflings in this campaign, as they're a bit controversial, being descendents of people who made pacts with demons.

Anyway, Viola?, as a Human, you get a plus one to any one ability score. Your rolls being slightly mediocre, no offense, this will be helpful, as you currently have a minus one Charisma Ability Modifier. An ability modifier is determined by your ability scores, and is what you add to certain rolls, like, for example, your Will is a +1, so if a Mind Flayer is trying to break into your head, you add plus one on your Will saving throw. However, your Charisma ability modifier is a minus one, so if you tried to bluff your way past the Palace Guard, you have to subtract one from your ability check. The table of ability scores in respect to their modifiers is as follows:

1 = -5

2-3 = -4

4-5 = -3

6-7 = -2

8-9 = -1

10-11 = +0

12-13 = +1

14-15 = +2

16-17 = +3

18-19 = +4

20-21 = +5

22-23 = +6

23-24 = +7

25-26 = +8

27-28 = +9

30 = +10

Now, for money. I do not use the 5e core rules for this, instead, roll 3d6 and multiply by ten. If you have a Charisma modifier, subtract or add this amount, to a minimum of 1d6, and a maximum of 6d6. For Equipment, just tell me what you want, and i'll tell you if it's covered by your class, and if not, how much it costs, if it's available. No magic weapons or anything though, unless they're really minor, and covered by your class or background. Now, Skills. You have to choose five from a list of seventeen, preferably pertaining to your class, the list being Acrobatics, Animal Handling, Arcana, Athletics, Deception, History, Insight, Intimidation, Investigation, medicine, nature, Perception, Performance, Persuasion, Sleight of hand, Stealth and Survival. Now, spells. I, for pne, am a little bamboozled, so i think the best thing to do would be to google "list of 5e spells" and if the Dndwiki page comes up, use that. (Though use Incognito mode, or Private Tab, just because internet safety.) At first level, no matter what class you are, get three Cantrips and two first level spells from your pertaining Class spell list.

Ooh! I guess I’ll boost my charisma when I level up, depending how much I use it and how amusing it is when I fail... Or did you mean now?

For money I rolled a 6, 5 and 2, then another -2 for my Charisma. That means I get 110 gold, right?

Equipment... I want some clothes, either common or traveler’s... What’s the setup? Do I know I’m going on an adventure? As a cleric, do I have to choose a deity?

For Skills, I would like Acrobatics, Insight, Perception, Stealth and Survival. Also, I’m going to make my background Hermit, and maybe bump my age up a few years.

For my cantrips, I selected Light and Guidance. For spells, I chose randomly: Detect Magic and Healing Word.

Hmm. Yes, as a cleric you will eventually have to choose a deity, or a Power, (totally not  copying Kyngdom there) as they're called in my campaign. You probably know you're gonna go on an adventure, but maybe not how much it'll affect Octearth eventually.Everything else sounds good, though you need armor and weapons.

DANG IT, I CAN'T USE MY SNEAKY BOI.

Wait....I got it!

So you know, this took literally hours to do.

Charrie name: Nesseth Blentmo

Character age: 19

Class: Fighter

Race: Dragonborn (+2 STR. +1 CHA)

Character Appearence: Black Scaled. About 6'2" and 235 pounds. Gold eyes and seems to have a permanent frown despite being in a more calm relax state most of the time

Backstory: He never knew his parents. His egg was found in the streets of the town Naserith out of seemingly nowhere. Naserith despite it's diversity never had a dragon born before him. So he was always the outcast. He wasn't hated, no. He was simply... Ignored by his peers. By age 7 he like most twice his age was set out to find someone willing to train him into their expertices. He always wanted to explore and he was good with the pen. So a cartographer seemed right for him. After a half a year of searching he found one willing to teach him. A Half-Elf who took kindly of Nesseth's passion. He explored the nearby forests and mountains and caves. At age 14. His last year as an apprentice. Naserith was covered in darkness. A vampire enter the townsquare and declared for all to bow to him. For Naserith is his now and if they don't surrender all shall die or be enslaved and every other threat you can imagine. Nesseth was getting supplies while this was happening and was fortunately behind the ranting vampire. He knew he had to do something. Near was a blacksmith. With a Morning Star laifed out for display. (If any of you played Castlevania, it looked like that Morning Star) along with some barrels containing other gear. Some barrels were still being made. Several pegs were left out. The plan forming in his head was reckless, stupid, and he might die. But it was something. Peg in one hand and Morning Star in other, he sneaked up to the vampire. Still ranting about what he's going to do. When Nesseth swong the Morning Star so it wrapped around the Vampire's neck, brought the Vampire down and stomped the peg into his heart.

The whole thing was over in seconds.

After what felt like an eternity of silence. He was picked up by the townspeople and praised for his bravery. Nesseth could not believe it. In fact, while others praised him and celebrated. All he could think about was why it was so easy that that Vampire down. Unknown to any of them. The Vampire was just recently turned and grew cocky and power hungry very quickly. After learning the trade of cartograph, he set out. To explore the lands. The event made him want to learn more of the art of combat. So he continued to train. In case a real threat emerges.

Bond: My tools are a symbol of my past life, and I always carry them so I never forget my roots.

Ideal: There's no good pretending to be something I'm not

I might do this. I'm thinking about being a fighter or a bard. Opinions? If need be, I could also be a sorcerer, or other magic-user. I'm pretty open about background--although I'm not firmiliar with that mechanic (sorry, D&D newbie here), does it actually affect my stats? I'll probably be a human or at least half human. Should I roll my stats? I don't own any d20s, but I could find an online dice roller or roll one at my next D&D club meeting and write down the scores.

Laylanie says haku. Haiku? Maybe she wants me to be a bard. Even still, I think she picked the wrong thread to talk about haikus.
