Section 2 (part 2), Group 2:

After discussing small details needed for the Quest, (map reading, survival skills, first aid, etc.), they showed the map to the Admins.

”Vassator” the Admins said when they saw the blank spot on the map.

”What?” said Luminescence, frowning slightly.

”The Vassator.  The creature that kills the imagination.  It thrives on the imagination, the creativity, of others.” said an Admin grimly.

”This makes the Quest all the more urgent” another Admin said.

”Surely —“ began Blaze, but here her optimisticness failed and she fell silent.  Even she couldn’t find anything to be hopeful about regarding the Vassator.

The Questors looked at eachother.  None had heard of the Vassator before.

”Is this something new?” Win asked.

The Admins shook their heads.  “No,” one said, “this creature has been around since the begining of time.  Hundreds of years ago it was captured and subdued.  But something, someone, has woken and freed it.”

Another Admin continued, “the Chatterbox is made from imagination, it is kept alive with imagination.  The Vassator could mean the end of the Chatterbox.  It could mean the end of you as you only exist here because of your imagination.  If it get’s Chatterbox it will proceed to empty the world of imagination.”

There was a horror filled silence as the Questors thought of their beloved Chatterbox gone, of the world void of imagination.  Simply no one could live without the power of imagination.

”So now the Quest is also to save the world” Joan said softly.

”Indeed.”

There was another pause as the Questors realized fully the enormity of what they had taken upon themselves.

”Is there perhaps ways to counteract the Vassator?” asked John.

An Admin nodded, “There is.  You must believe in the power of imagination.  There cannot be one doubt in your mind about it.  The Vasstor will try to persuade you to join it in the destruction of imagination, you must also have immense will power to go against it.  Though these are not guaranteed to protect you from the power of the Vassator.”

Felix quickly changed the subject, “How are we going to tell between those who support the Quest and those who don’t?”.

You could feel the relief of everyone in the room for the subject change.  Not one wanted to talk about the Vassator longer than was necessary.

“Good question” said an Admin.  “Look into their eyes.  There is a certain light in those who believe in the imagination.”

The Questors nodded, saving the information for later use.

Before everyone left the meeting Sybill asked, “is there any thing more discovered about the Orb?”

The Admins shook their heads, “no”.

What mounts would you like to ride for the Quest?  What is you mount’s name?

- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -

Your mounts are not allowed to have any powers.  Other than the ones that come with them (i.e. a dragon can breath fire, a horse can kick with it’s hooves).

I’ll do a part with the first group of Questors next section.

It's very good! And I can't say I noticed any issues with scene transitions. In fact you managed to balance the multiple CBer's really well. Likewise I was well portrayed, particularly with my first words being an apology; since I often say 'sorry' so much it's like my personal catch phrase.

The only point of criticism might be that this: '(who was studying the swirling patterns on the page about the Orb with his raven)' was a bit long winded. Maybe just add a comma next time. Other than that, I did notice a small capitalization error later but  I'm guessing you simple missed it. Overall I really enjoyed the whole thing. Especially how you reversed the usual villainous entrance trope, it was quite amusing.

Alsoto Luminescence: I believe this was the first, of two installments, so the question may be posted in the next excerpt. Hopefully this helps with your inquiry, though I realize it wasn't addressed to me.

If it's possible for me to obtain a griffin then it might be a adequate mount. Since ,of my few acquaintances, I believe I meet one named Lysander a while back. He might even prove to be a good conversationalist on journey, though it would unfortunately have to be one sided. I'm not much of a talker and if I recall correctly Lysander talks a lot about his honor (which does seem a bit prideful). So I guess it remains to be seen how well enlisting his help will work out.

Also apologies, my most recent comment applied to excerpt one; I just didn't seen that the next part was being posted. But hopeful that was implied.

So your welcome, Luminescence! And don't worry Peregrine, it was just the particular except I pointed out since the rest seemed concise.

As to the second excerpt, I found the Vassator intriguing yet I simultaneously hope we don't run into it to soon. If I may theorize perhapes the creature runs in accordance to Peter Pan type magic? This conjecture coming from the beasts apparent relaiance on beliefor the absence their of. Though perhaps other Cber's  have ideas as to the Vassators true mechanics?

Likewise, it acured to me that this Orb could be the fabled Orb of Creativity; the one that used to run Chatterbox City. Though I'm not sure if that was intentional or if anyone here has hear of Chatterbox City?

I understood your last comment was applied to Section 2, part 1.  I think we posted close together. The quote of the sentence you were talking about helped in clearing up what you were talking about.

I’m afraid I don’t quite understand your thinking of the link between the Vassator and Peter Pan. Perhaps because it has been a while since I last read Peter Pan.  The Vassator came to my mind and demanded to be put in the story.

The name is taken from the Latin word for destroyer, vastator.  I was originally going to call it the Vastator but it turned in to Vassator.

It’s a little ironic.  The Vassator destroys the imagination.  But it itself is the product of the imagination.

Please tell me more about the Chatterbox City and the Orb of Creativity.  You are the second person I have heard mention it but I don’t know what it is.

I wanted to say I loved the Disorienting Express.  It was very well written and I enjoyed it a lot. When reading it I felt like I had stepped back in time, to an older Chatterbox.  There were so many names I only knew from reading old threads.  People I had thought gone from the CB.  But no, they were hiding there in a small corner of the Chatterbox, not totally gone.  A small time capsule in the corner of Puddings Place.

Firstly,I merely meant that, within Peter Pan, fairies are kept alive by continued a persons continuous belief in them. Hence the scene where Peter Pan is trying to believe in Tink while she is close to death; though this could just be in the movie. So, I thought the comparison could be made to the Vassator's reliance on belief. Though I could be wrong since my knowledge of Peter Pan is mostly from listening to materials inspired by the book.

Secondly, it's very interesting to hear of the actual inspiration behind the Vassator. I like it when names have meaning so the use of Latin seems inspired. Strangely the creature does seem familiar though, like I've heard the name before. Perhaps I just recognize the root ('vas') from somewhere. And yes, it's creation does seem charmingly ironic. Unless it somehow feeds on your imagination in order to get created in the first place. But let us hope not as that would make the world a stranger place all together.

Lastly,I do realize I was a bit ambiguous about Chatterbox City so my apologies; likewise for the late reply. Though I'm now uncertain as to the point since it looks as though Mahriel beat me to the answer:[http://www.cricketmagkids.com/chatterbox/inkwell/node/442019] I admire the resourcefulness.

Though, to tell the truth I'd actually been considering doing a Solo Write on the subject. I just hadn't competed the necessary research yet. So this then leaves me with a bit of a quandary, should I post the rather lengthy explanation I'm drafting or not? Is it best placed on this RP on yours, Mahriel?

Oh, how clueless I am!  Or maybe it’s just my memory is unreliable and failed me there.  Now I remember the scene where Peter saves Tink.  I see your thoughts on the link there.  Though that didn’t inspire the Vassator.

You know, I felt like the Vassator seemed familiar too.  Maybe I read about a creature like it a long time ago and nothing but vague thoughts on the Vassator like creature are left.  I wouldn’t be surprised.

I really hope the Vassator isn’t destroying my imagination!  Goes to show how dangerous your imagination can be.  Maybe I’m safe as I believe in the power of the imagination.  Not sure about the immense will power though.  So perhaps not.

You don’t need to apologize about mentioning Chatterbox City.  Really, I am grateful you did.  The Overseer left me with many questions I have to answer myself.  Several of them concernig the Orb. If it won’t spoil the solowrite you were planning please do post your explanation here.

No need to feel clueless I have an odd knack for remember obscure details within a text. While you may have remembered the scene the bit about fairies and belief is oddly specific.

I was only referring to the Latin when talking about inspiration for the Vassator though. Odd that you should say you also have a sense of déjà vu, I actually did a quick search to see if a creature like it existed but nothing came up. Maybe it's a sort of myth or it's just in a familiar folkloric style. Yet, I'm sure you'll be fine as impart you words are in part just imagining sounds that aren't there.

I was just worried about it being an inside reference, when referencing Chatterbox City, thus downplaying newer CBers. So, a brief recap of  Chatterbox City shouldn't spoil my SoloWrite. In fact, due to the length and relevance, I'll might ask The Chronicler to copy the explanation into Inkwell as a means of prefacing the beging of his writing.

I'm just not prepared to start the SoloWrite just yet due to my own procrastination and the absence of  complete reasearch. Research which is presented in the explanation bellow, though there are too many links to include:

So Chatterbox City was a series of Role Plays wherein the Chatterbox was its own universe. The capital city was made of of the houses, tree-forts, caves, or mansion created by various Chatterboxers. There was also a castle owned by the Admin as well as the gigantic public library. Thought the castle in some reiterations was a public hub from which Wi Flies delivered messages and posted the CBer's ideas. The first noted creation of Chatterbox City was by a CBer named Somebody, while Jarvis, then Lilypad followed suit. This dates the Chatterbox Universe (CU) at April of 2015 though Cber solo write or journal entries may have existed before then.

The first threat, faced by the fledgling citadel, was the lose of The Cosmic Orb Of Creativity & Imagination. Which I just remembered as The Orb Of Creativity, so my apologies if refereed to again the same way (cause C.O.O.B.I is not a pretty short form). This device powered the imagination of the Chatterbox and so could be lethal in the wrong hands. There were also some details about a battle against Frosty (presumably the snowman) though I personal haven't completed the necessary research. Likewise my investigation established losesly that this was resolved in an epic battle of some sort.

The second threat was that of mysterious runic markings appearing within the HUGE library. This lead to strange magical effects in the form of some familiar faces from Crowed Sorcery. While the return of avillain named Schyll and Margot Monroy caused havoc to CBer airspace and caused the Admins to go into red alert. Though not much detail is included as to why these two had a grudge against the Chatterbox, aside for the mention of a previously attempted invasion. I do however like to theorize that this Margot had something to do with a popular sing by the name of Marilyn Monroe, as their names bare similarity. This RP unfortunately ended mid sword swing as the Cber's defend their beloved caste and their Alter Egos avoided mind control.

Lastly a third threat happened as recent as 2016. The CBer's faced a malignant cloaked figure how liked Alice In Wonderland inspired mindgames. Leaving many Cber's anthropomorphized and trapped in an impossible maze. Hence the swift kidnapping of one of the three Admins within the confusion. On a side note, I believe there was another RP wHere an an Admin was captured and the CBer's had to help rescue them. Making me think that possible some Admins, or at least that one particularly, might have been an Ensign (Or 'red shirt' as I believe the Star Treck trope is called) in a previous career. Though this again is conjecture, and one hopes it was not the same Admin in both the mentioned RP and this era of Chatterbox City. This RP ends with many of the CBer's, including my own dear sister (Chinchilla), trapped with few ways of escape.

Though one assumes all was not lost as General Waffleson recounts his own tales of Chatterbox City (or at least of those of the Chatterbox as a hub-like central office building) up until 2018. From my recollection, the brave general from the breakfast kingdom recounts in great detail: his piloting a TARDIS, being hired as an inter dimensional bounty hunter, meeting Morpheus, and fighting Jadis (the White Queen).

This just from the sections I've read. Other parallel or conflicting accounts tell about Cber's saving the multiverse, receiving magical names, and getting lost on a remote Scotish island; by Brookeira for the first two and Jarvis for the last. Yet I have not investigated these leads as thoroughly since they don't directly pertain to Chatterbox City as a town.

Also, for reference, Character Cafe is another popular Rp from back in the day. The premise was that characters from a CBer created Nanowrimo Novel or RP could manifest in a transdimensional bistro/restraunt.  I believe it was  either revamped by Javis or created by them, but I can't find the RP link at the moment. Can anyone find it?

If no one mentioned Chatterbox City at a certain point it would probably be forgotten.  So thank you for telling me more about it.  Now it will less likely be forgotten.  If I ever come across the Character Cafe RP I will definitely tell you.
