Dragon Riders RP

Dragon Riders RP ~ Revival

Hello, everyone. A few of you may remember the Dragon Rider’s RP from a while ago, but most of you probably don’t, because it drifted through the pages of the Inkwell pretty inconsistently. But I missed it, so I decided we could start anew… You don’t have to have been part of the original rp to join. We’re starting from scratch this time...

~backstory~

In the land of Emarya, the citizens and dragon riders have coexisted for centuries. The Riders simply wanted peace and safety for their people and their dragons, and the kings and queens of Emarya respected that. But one day, the current queen of Emarya mysteriously disappeared and was replaced by a new king - a mysterious man known only as Azazel.

Azazel wants power over Emarya and all the surrounding areas - including Equidron, the Dragon Rider’s territory. The Dragon Riders, of course, refuse to give up their homeland, and now the Riders are on the brink of war with Azazel and his supporters.

In Equidron, the Riders are preparing a plan known as the Lunar Sun Plan. The Lunar Sun is a time when the sun and moon both hit their peak. Every dragon gains power from either sunlight or moonlight, fueling them to fly faster and work harder. When the moon and sun are both out, the dragons will be strongest - and it may offer their only chance at defeating Azazel.

The future of Equidron is at stake. The Lunar Sun is two weeks out, and six young riders will be working together to form a unit of dragons and riders. If all goes according to plan, they will be saved… but if not, it means the end for the dragon riders.

Augh I'm not happy with this but I really don't want this rp to die -

This is pretty much the worst time to be late, so of course Azami-Enji Castañeda is missing zer dragon. Ze pauses by a wall and peeks around the corner. People, lots of people wearing bright gold-or-silver encrusted shirts and chattering excitedly; one around-12-year-old scrambling to pick up a bunch of spellbooks they had dropped; several statues of dragons - but no Hinata. Ze looks up to the cloudless sky, where dragons of all sizes and colors glide around on the breeze - but all of them have saddles, riders. Zer dragon? Well, annoying as it is, Azami-Enji doesn’t have a saddle. So zer dragon can’t be one of them.
That’s not good. The dragon conference should start in only a little bit, and If ze doesn’t get to it, several things happen.
Well basically, evil-guy-takes-over-Equidron. And Azami-Enji would totally refuse to submit to him, and then ze would get in trouble, and the whole thing would just be bad.
But also? That’s the guy who killed zer brother a month or two ago. Zer brother, the one who kept zer alive for the first nine years of zer life. Zer brother, the one who helped zer find zer dragon Hinata in the first place. Zer brother. The best person in the world.
Zer fists clench. Ze’s going to get revenge, save the world, and maybe even find somewhere to stay. Well, hopefully.
The whole thing’s a bit of a stretch.
But for now, ze figures that Hinata will hear the bells when they strike out the hour. Or at the very least, be at the conference building. But what if they aren’t? Hinata can sometimes lose track of time, and might be out of the range of hearing.
Azami-Enji doesn’t want to be late, though. Ze leaps up and barrels forward.
About 15 minutes, one stolen bread loaf, and 3 run-into people later, ze reaches the conference building. It’s big, grand - red brick, pillars, domes, probably the epitome of architecture, if anyone knows what that means. Ze could go inside, but Hinata’s not here yet, and ze wants to wait. Ze grabs zer bread loaf and starts chewing.
Hinata should be here soon. If they aren’t? If they get held up, if they lose track of time? There’s a high change ze will flunk. And that’s bad.

Also I haven't looked this over again... *shudders*

[To clarify: Lyra communicates with Soror telepathically and vocally; her telepathic communication is written in italics.  Soror communicates with Lyra telepathically; her telepathic communication is written in bold italics.]

~ Lyra ~

Lyra spun on her heel, feeling the hard stone grind into her feet through the leather of her shoe and the solid weight of her sword in her hands as she swung her it up to the rising sun and slashed it across the deep blue sky in a harsh stroke that would have sliced an enemy diagonally had there been any.  The polished silver of her sword flashed bright patches of light as the sun danced off her blade and fell on the rough stones beneath her.

Soror shifted and the blue speckled pattern of mirrored light that came from her scales spun in dizzying arcs.  She watched with one eye as Lyra feinted to the left and skewered an unseen enemy to the right, her temendous wings spread across the stone floor of the tower.

Small figures of other dragons and their riders circled the large tower to the north -- the training tower -- morning sun reflecting off the dragons' scales creating burning bright specks in the sky.  Soror and Lyra were alone on a smaller tower.

You are going to be late, Lyra, Soror said.  Five minutes until classes.  Later you have assignments . . . I'm sure your unit will consist of reliable people.

Lyra finished an arcing cut as she heard Soror's words vibrating in her mind.  She frowned mentally to Soror.  Slightly perturbed at being pulled from the meditative calm sword practice gave her.

I hadn't forgotten.  She was curious to know who would be in her unit; she didn't comment on the small feeling of nervousness she had, but Soror knew anyways.  Right.  Best not to be late.

She sheathed her sword in one smooth motion and set off at a loping run along side Soror as they made their way through the monolithic halls of Equidron.

I don't know what Mary has planned so I didn't move it forward much.  I am looking foward to moving the story along!

Torbjorn~~

Classes had just started and Andrei was still missing.
Tornbjorn had looked for xem everywhere, and there had been absolutely no sign of him. He'd flown up to Andrei's dorm's window and had seen that the room looked abandoned. It wasn't in a mess or anything, it was perfectly neat (just as Andrei kept it) so Tornbjorn didn't imagine xe'd been kidnapped.
One of the scouts had seen Torbjorn flying around, and called him over. Torbjorn landed and the scout explained that she'd seen Andrei leave the base and school early that morning, but he'd never returned. Torbjorn sighed internally, it seemed Andrei was skipping class again. He desperately hoped Andrei would be back for the ceremony, though he seriously doubted he would. Andrei had a bad habit of missing incredibly important events.
Torbjorn figured he should look for Andrei. Xe'd already missed a good amount of classes, but maybe he could find him before the ceremony. He wondered if one of the other riders would be willing to help.

Does this RP have anything to do with the Eragon series?

submitted by Eragon?

Hi! This is late! And overwhelmingly unproofread! But here it is!

Lexi ~~

The day wears on.

Every time I feel a hint of stress or nerves over the unit ceremony at the end of the day, I brush it away like a dust bunny on a shelf. But it still remains, the empty feeling in my stomach never fully leaving. So many things could go wrong. What if one unit member was terrible? Or what if one didn't even show up for the ceremony?

At lunch, I pay a visit to the dragon stables, hoping Kayda will do something to calm my nerves. As we step out of her stall into the open sunlight, a massive silver-gray dragon lands down on the cliff. Something in its bright yellow eyes tells me that this dragon is definitely perturbed.

Kayda approaches him swiftly and they start conversing in their own dragon language, a series of grunts and huffs and snorts. After a few interactions, she turns to me.

Torbjorn's rider is missing. He fears xe will miss the ceremony.

A sudden jolt of distress hits me. Though the odds are slim, there are chances that this rider could be in my unit. And there are chances that he won't be at the ceremony.

Impulsively, I say, "What can we do to help?"

~~

p.s. the idea is that all of our charries will end up in a unit together, but feel free to take creative liberty on how that happens. I don't want to be in too much control, even if I'm the one who "started" this rp.

p.p.s. @eragon, this rp doesn't actually have anything to do with the eragon series, although I would like to read those books at some point.

I started this RP before I read the Eragon series, but after reading it I realized this RP is very similar to Eragon.  However I am positive the similarity was, and is, unintentional.  This might be hard if you haven't read the series, but I think we should try our best to steer away from following the path of Eragon.

I am working on a next part!
