So. NaNoWriMo starts

Chatterbox: Inkwell

So. NaNoWriMo starts

So. NaNoWriMo starts in *checks YWP link* three days, eight hours, sixteen minutes and seven seconds. Six. Five. Four... *gets annoying*

Yes. I am very excited. I have blackmailed almost all of my friends into doing it too, and instead of going to the regional kickoffs we're having our own party this Sunday. (Yes, we're geeks. What's your point?) Kathy and I are going to start writing together on Halloween at midnight (after eating obscene amounts of candy and getting sugar rushes). Needless to say I cannot wait. *babbles*

Rambling aside... how is everyone else (who is doing nano) getting ready, and what does everyone plan on writing about (if you're planning at all)?

Three days, eight hours, eleven minutes and forty seconds...

I really should change the smiley by my name to a frowny. My life is painfully busy right now, and I'm having such a hard time eeking by with the most essential schoolwork that I can hardly handle the Chatterbox right now, let alone the frenzy accompanying a book-in-a-month ordeal. Neeless to say, I am super disappointed about this, but even if I was insane enough to try (which, I'm sorry to say, I'm not - not quite, at least) my mom has vetoed Nano this year, hence I really have no choice. So while you guys start your Halloween parties, I guess I'll slink off and join the Cowards Club, where we can't handle the awesomeness of Nano. *tries to smile encouragingly and say "Have fun!" in a genuine manner but can't do it from the great force of disappointment* *grits teeth and slams literature book onto computer desk in place of head* *sneaks off to bed, eventually crying herself to sleep*

So yeah, I'm kind of ticked off about that. Perhaps we could organize a similar thing - ChaNoWriMo :P - at a later date for those of us who just can't handle it right now. What say my fellow non-Nanos? *cringes at having to classify herself as a non-Nano* *starts crying again*

Fine, I'm not as soggy as I sound. I am ticked, but I don't plan on crying about it. You're starting at midnight in New Jersey, Mary W.? (What is the proper method of punctuation in this and similar situations? For example, if I'm asking my composition teacher something and I say, "......, Mrs. K.?" do I write "Mrs. K.?" or "Mrs. K?"? And what about there with the ?"? combo? Argh!) Anywho, then it will be nine here, and I will very likely still be handing out candy. I will eat a piece and write a poem - or something - and think about you at nine, promise. :D I was about to say I'd call you, but then I realized I don't know your phone number..... Sheesh, I thought I was talking to my friend in Connecticut for a minute there. Wow. I need to go to bed....  *goes to bed* *grits teeth in sleep over not being able to do Nano* *wakes up with a headache and a twisted retainer* *decides to blame it all on Mary* *tells Mary she's just kidding* *actually goes to sleep this time* *is unable to stop little asterick sequences* *yawns* *falls asleep* *wakes up to add initials and hit the submit button* *goes back to sleep*

*sniff* Poor Emily. *gives hug* I'd also say I'd call you to cheer you up, but I don't really know your number either... So I'll think of you at twelve. :)

It's okay. You could always do it unofficially. And ChaNoWriMo (I like that name ;D) is a cool idea too.

Re: ""?"" etc: (alright, that was quite odd) I'd say make the period at the end go away. See, with "etc:" I took the period away, just because it looks neater-ish. Of course, with me I really don't minjd if you just take the "W." away entirely. I really don't need to type it anymore, 'cuz everyone knows it's me, I think, but still... And if you want you can call me Mary Liz or ML. :)

And I do that thing with the friend in CT all the time... See, I actually do have a friend in CT (Tommy, the lucky one who owns books 6-8 in Ranger's Apprentice ;D), who is scarily like Reuben on the CB, and sometimes when I'm addressing one I think I'm addressing the other... Grr. My brain is so confused.

And you have every right to blame everything on me... More often than not everything is my fault. XD

Anyway... I am very sorry you cannot do nano... *sniffles* I will keep you on my writing buddy list, though. :)

I am attempting to do NaNoWriMo, but quite honestly, I doubt that I will have enough energy to stay up until midnight tapping away on my tiny keys. I am going to be oh so tired *yawns, even thinking about it* because I am going trick or treating with my friend, in our tiny town, but even so, it's gonna take a while, especially if you're thorough. Speaking of which, I am going as the Mona Lisa. Yes, I did steal the painting from the Louvre. I go there all the time, I mean why not? No, really. My mom and I painted one with a face hole for my face to go in. It looks pretty good. My mom is an artist, after all. *shrugs importantly and tosses head.* Oh, there's no  bragging involved in that... Anyway. I have zero friends on NaNo, because I have been on the website 3 times only, and I am not entirely sure about how to get your word count...? Soo. I plan on just writing  something out of an idea I have tucked away, and hope nothing goes wrong? Yeah, that's what I'll do. By the way, I like your poem Emily H. (yeah, what is the rule about the period intial thing? It's weird right?) that won the poetry contest!

May someone please explain to me what NaNowrimo is? How does it work? Is there a website?

@ Dawnpaw:

NaNoWriMo is basically writing a 50000 word novein the month of November. You can check the FAQ at the website, which's name I'll hint as to. It's a pretty obvious name, no caps, and dot org. Or, you could Google NaNoWriMo.

Oh, and I like the idea of a ChaNoWriMo. Maybe June would be a good month for that.

@ Reuben: Yeah, June'd be a good month. And it's an excellent idea, also, Emily.

Thanks, and June does sound good. Our writing co-op may do it in March again, but I'm willing to do it twice in a year. :D

I will be doing NaNo this year for the first time in my life. I got my friend to do it too. Yay!!! I have a terrible sneaking suspicion that this, like many other undertaken projects of mine, will never be finished, because I am horrible at following through on many things.* scolds self*

I can't wait for NaNo because I have a good idea for my novel even if I'm not sure it will fufill my word count. (I'm not going to tell you because it's kinda small.) I do hope I won't lose my momentum on this project 'cause I really want to do this! It sounds like a lot of fun.

I'm wondering though.  Is it ok to have multiple short stories in a novel instead of just one big story? Maybe you can help me cause you soud like "pros" at this.

My English teacher is demanding that my entire class do it, and I am the only one who has stepped forward. I will try, I'm just not sure that I can make it.

I just finished Trick or Treating and dinner, and my family is
gossiping. I'm sitting at the computer wearing gym shorts and mascara
and a Starfleet T-shirt, waiting for NaNoWriMo to begin.

Four hours left in my time zone. Best of luck to all.

Reuben, you're so much more civilized than I am.

SO... We started last night and wrote for like two hours. Gianna and Kathy and I. I have something like 1,882, Kathy has 700, and Gianna somewhere in between that.

And, oh yeah, I only four hours of sleep and now I have to go serve an 8:30 mass...
