~The Storymoth~

It flits and floats and flutters and never stops, papery white wings so delicate, so fragile, that you almost miss it…
And perhaps, once, you would’ve missed it.
Once, you couldn't've cared less.
Once... but once is no more.
You stop and you turn and you watch it, backlit by the lantern, your bike forgotten on the ground besides you. The first stars are twinkling in and you should be getting home, but you stand, and you smile, and you laugh, and you watch the moth, floating around the light, and you remember…
The tears are still drying on your cheeks. You know now they were worth it. You suspect you’ve known from the start. You just had to realize it.

yes, another text adventure, after my writing and ideas declined so spectacularly in the last one. I just don’t know when to give up, do I? :)
But even so, hope you participate, because this time there’s *gaspp* actually a plot (well, some sense of one) and it’s not just me randomly wandering around in a world that only exists cuz one day I was like, hey, this’d be cool to create! :) And to give you proof, this will be… well, a different kind of text adventure??? You’ll start at a place and I’ll hopefully take you (and me) on a moving and inspirational (or really at least just enjoyable) journey, and then somehow using your totally open-ended commands you’ll end up at this scene?? Anyways yeah it makes total sense. So sorry about the formatting (that's why there are all these little dashes/hyphens everywhere).
------------------------
5 Months Ago:
You wake up in a room. It’s not your room. It’s not even, you realize, your house. The walls are clean and white, bright fluorescent lights blind you, and there’s a weird smell in the air like… dead flowers? You twist around and, sure enough, there’s a pot of dead flowers next to your bed (well, not your bed, but the bed you’re currently in, which is just as well). There’s something oddly sterilized about this place, almost like… you’re in a hospital. You bolt up, leap out of bed, check yourself over. You didn’t get injured, did you? You didn’t roller skate into traffic again? No, no, nothing hurts. You breath a sigh of relief. Good. You left your past of horrific accidents. No need for a repeat of that episode. But then… why are you in a hospital?
---------------------
You step out the doorway of the room and find a set of stairs. A red carpet descends down the length of them. Weird. You didn’t know they had such ornate staircase in hospitals. But you decide to make the best of it and pad down the stairs like you’re a movie star, pausing every once in a while to smile for the cameras and pose for your adoring fans and sign autographs and-
“Uhhh… what are you doing?”
Surprised, you look up suddenly, into… beautiful chocolate brown eyes, so deep, you could fall into them and never… and, distracted, fall down the stairs thumpity-thump, crash landing in front of Misty Brook’s smirk.
“December, what have you gotten yourself into now?”
What do you do?
-----------------------
Some information about you-
Name: December Woods
Pronouns: she/her
Age: 13
Appearance: long messy brown hair, a splattering of freckles
Personality: everything and anything, a walking oxymoron (though not the moron part… ok, maybe occasionally)
--------------------
Note: I'm a bit scared to say it... but you have complete control over December. I'm handing you full reigns. Whatever you say, she's gotta do, as long as it's realistically possible and it doesn't interfere with the plot. So, haha, actually, no, you don't have full reigns. But pretty close.

Celine?

Anyways, this sounds cool! Let's see, December says, "Honestly, I'm not really sure myself. Perhaps you could remind me?"

Yup! Wait did I not put my name down? Oh oops well yup anyways it's me! :)

~~~~~~~~~~~
"Honestly, I'm not really sure myself. Perhaps you could remind me?" you ask Misty. She really is so pretty...
Misty gives you a strange look. "Hey, December, you alright?"
You giggle. "That's what I asked you! Am I?" You're acting so weird. You need to stop acting weird. You can't stop acting weird. Why do you always act weird when Misty's around?!?
Misty's looking really concerned now. "Umm.. maybe.. we should take you to go see a doctor... We are in a hospital after all. We can make a quick trip upstairs, have you checked-"
Hospital. You remember now. You'd momentarily forgotten. You're in a hospital. Why are you in a hospital again? Misty's still talking. You try to listen to her, but your brain is going full panic mode. WHY ARE YOU IN A HOSPITAL?!? You take a few deep breaths, try to calm down, try to- "MISTY!" you shout. "WHY AM I IN A HOSPITAL?!?"
Misty stops mid-sentence, suprised. "Why- oh, I see now. That's why you're acting stranhr. The doctor said this might happen once you woke."
"What? What might happen?"
"Minor disorientation. You probably don't remember, December, but we moved."
"M-moved?" you ask. It's coming back to you now. Slowly. So slowly. Not slow enough. You don't want it to come back. It's too horrible. You don't want- "Misty," you say, slowly, evenly. "What. Exactly. Happened?"
Misty's looking at you intently. "I think you remember now. The shock's wearing off."
"I-" you swallow. "I-I remember..." you shove Misty, run out the door, run and run and keep running until you find yourself in a quaint seaside town. There is no one in sight.
You sob quietly by yourself. Soon you slowly come back to your senses. Where am I? You wonder as you walk around still frazzled by the memory of what happened.
@celine, you write very well this is so cool!
Oh, thanks! :) I totally didn't, like, forget about this for a few days or anything... sorry. It's been busy :/
~~~~~~~~~

You sink onto a bench conveniently placed right next to you and sob quietly by yourself. A few minutes pass and, slowly, you come back to your senses. You take a look around you, noting a few seemingly abandoned shops, and some scattered gulls. All in all, the place is pretty empty. In fact, there's no sign of any human life at all except for the buildings. Where am I? You think to yourself, still frazzled by the memory of what happened. Where am I? It's a good question that, unfortunately, you don't know the answer to. Suddenly, you shoot up off your bench and turn around wildly, looking for the - or really any - exit. But walls surround you on all sides. Solid, brick walls, where there was once empty space. The path you took into this town has disappeared. There's nowhere to go. Nowhere to run. Just the walls and the sound of waves lapping all around you... but, wait, you realize with growing dread. You live in the middle of a landlocked city. There's no seaside town around here. It would've been impossible for you to... Everything's spinning, too fast, too out of control, a blur of colors in this mess of a world and nothing makes sense anymore and did anything ever really make sense and-

You do the only reasonable thing. You pass out. When you finally come to, there's a face looking at you intently. It seems to have a really thick beard of some sort. The face looks sorta familiar for some reason... wait a minute! The face doesn't belong to a human at all. You realize why you recognize it. It's your dog! But... your dog died a few years ago. You still wear her ashes around your neck (morbid, yes, but comforting in a way). You study the dog, and in return, she licks you. You laugh, not minding the slobber. Yes, this is Ashe all right. There's no doubt about it. But... what is she doing here? How is she here? And how long has it been since you passed out? The walls are still surrounding you, seeming to smirk at you, cornering you in despite being inanimate. Ashe rolls over to show her belly and you absentmindedly scratch it while thinking... what is happening? Suddenly, a strange sound comes from behind one of the walls. Ashe perks up and leaps out of your reach, clearing the wall in one jump. You try to follow but fall, and skin your knee. Great. Ashe is long gone and now you're bleeding and you're no closer to figuring out a way out of here or an answer to all these questions than you were before.

Try to find another way up the wall

Bad writing today but wanted to get a response up bc we're getting closer to where the story starts picking up! :) :/
~~~~~
You try to find another way up the wall. All the bricks are perfectly - unnaturally - smooth, and provide no useful foot/handholds. There's no handy rope or ladder around, and nothing you can use to dig under the wall, or break through the wall, or go around the wall (you are in the middle of a walled-square). But wait! You see that one of the buildings, a place called Randy's Food Kitchen - though you don't understand why there needed to be "food" there if there was already "kitchen" - was relatively close to the top of the wall. If you could just get on the roof... you try the door, but it's locked. You can't scale these walls, either. There's no way you can currently find of getting on the roof and over the wall.
Go around the back and see if the roof is lower there?
You go around the back and see that, unfortunately, no, the roof is not lower there. But there is a ladder! (OOC: Or, actually... I'm gonna make this more interesting bc I feel like it and this is my story and I can do whatever I want with it. Full executive power! Yay! Take advantage! Soo... rewind BIC:)
You go around the back and see that, unfortunately, no, the roof is not lower there. Fortunately, there's a ladder! Unfortunately, it's broken - there's a step that's fallen off. Fortunately, you don't really need that step to climb the ladder! You can just skip it. You try to carry the ladder over to the wall, but unfortunately, it's too heavy, and you're too... well, puny and weak. But fortunately, the designer of this ladder was a genius - or perhaps puny and weak themselves - and put wheels on this ladder! Unfortunately, the wheels are locked, and you don't know how to unlock them. Fortunately, there are some spare wheels just randomly hanging out nearby, and you change them. They work now! Yay! You climb over the wall. Mission accomplished! :D
Explore~
submitted by Hawkstar, age JDynamite, My thoughts in Korea
(December 17, 2023 - 10:41 am)
You explore. But the thing is... there's nothing to explore. Only blank whiteness, like you've stepped into a fresh canvas. There's no form or depth or space or color surrounding you. Maybe, you think, if you keep walking, eventually there'll be? You keep the wall to your right side so you won't get lost (after all, there are no other landmarks) and start walking. You wonder where Ashe had gone. For a second, you contemplate calling out her name, just to see, but you're uneasy here. Better to stay quiet and wait to see what happens. Suddenly, you trip on something. With an involuntary yelp (so much for staying quiet), you tumble, skinning again the already skinned knee, and losing your grip on the wall. When you reach out again, it's disappeared.
