Author Pairs #2?

Does anyone want to continue GloWorm's brilliant idea?  Except that this time we would have a deadline for pairs to be chosen and also a deadline to finish all stories/poems. ***No one would be allowed to start until all the pairs were set up***  --Otherwise there is a lot of chaos.  Afterwards there would be a contest, and the winners would be chosen by judges...  Admins could input if they wanted as well.  So is anyone ready for a fresh start?  If so, please post a writing sample and the type of genre you would like to write: Fantasy, Mystery, Action/Adventure, Hist. fiction, Romance, and Sci-fi.

Hobey-Ho let's go!  *snickers*

Thanks Trixy!

Are we going to go into more detail as to what the judges do later?

OK! Here is my writing sample. It's part of a longer story I wrote. And I prefer writing fantasy.

I kept running away from the Jotuns. I had no idea whichdirection I'd come, but I didn't really mind so long as I got out of thiscreepy forest. Night had come quickly; the moon was barely up.

I sighed as my run slowed to a walk. I was lost now, as nearto lost as I could figure. This would never have happened if ... if ... if that god, Loki, hadn't "selected" me.

And all of a sudden, the trees stopped being so thick, and Isaw that there was much more lightcoming in. And even all-of-the-suddener, the trees just stopped. Glancing aroundat the yellow-gold grass, I saw that I now stood at the top of a huge hill.

At the bottom of the hill stood a town. In little clusters, the houses seemed to be lingering, as if afraid of the imposing hill. With myhead held high, I began my down-the-hill Odyssey. It was steep. The ground was far below and I had to be careful not to slip.

I glanced up. Iwas almost half way down. Then a butterfly seemed to dart around the inside of my stomach. The shape of a wolf was crouching atop the hill. And it was not the kind you usually see.

This wolf was ten feet from nose to behind. The tail was atleast an extra three. I would have screamed, but I was too scared to screambecause I didn't know if the giganto-wolf saw me yet. Screaming was liketelling it, "Here I am! I want to be wolf-food!" And that was thelast thing I wanted to say.

So I tried to go faster, but I slipped, and began sliding atan out-of-control fast pace. I slipped down the clifflike hill and through therough dirt. The wolf, nearing me in a leap, was close behind.

"Ow!" I bumped over a root and started sliding on my stomach. I got up again, stopped myself from slipping and picked up a rock. With velocity, it struck the wolf's left front paw. The wolf stopped. I didn'tmiss the chance to run the last twenty feet to the town. I threw two more stones before I ducked inside the nearest building, whose door was conveniently open.

I was greeted with a strange sight.

The whole room was made of a strangely antique dark wood. Inthe center of the room stood a totem pole with a carved raven on top. Parts ofthe totem pole were painted with bright colors, but some spots were just wood. On the right side of the room, two round coffee tables with chairs at them; and a man with long-grayish hair and a beard (his hair was so long it covered his left eye) was sitting there. On theleft side of the room was a big counter, like they have in grocery stores and bars and stuff; and there was a man with reddish-brown hair and beard, bigeyes, and bushy eyebrows standing behind it. Behind him on shelves were assorted bottles and, to my surprise, a large hammer.

"Hey, no kids in th' liquor store," said thebushy-browed one thickly. "This is a liquor store. B'sides, she's th' traitor, isn't she."

"Silence, Thor," the one I recognized as the god Odin said smoothly. "I let your boys in. Now I'd like to talk to this girl."

My mind raced as Thor shuffled away. They knew I was with Loki! Would they put me in eternal punishment for helping the enemy?

"Don't fear me, my girl," said Odin. "I, too, have been tricked by Loki."

"Tricked?" I asked. There had been no trick.

"Ah." Said Odin. "You should read the Loki section of my book to refresh your memory." And he held out a thick book. Flipping through it 'till I got to "Loki," I read:

Loki was a Jotun who was handsome and kind, or so it seemed. We became blood brothers. But that was a mistake that took Balder's life. The council agreed that if every living person mourned Balder the afterlife gods would bring him back to life. But one person did not mourn: an old woman who we later found was Loki in disguise.Still, Balder was dead forever and Loki was punished by having him tied beneatha serpent whose venom dripped on his face.

Loki had three children, though they were not really children. The first was Hel, who rules the dead. Second was the Midgard Serpent, a hugesnake, and third was a giant wolf called Fenris.

It wasn’t helping at all. "How was it a trick? And why would he trick me?"

“You see;” Odin explained, “ all your enemies so far, the exception being Heimdall, were on Loki’s side.”

“Why would Loki trick me, a regular mortal?”

Odin sighed and paused, his face filled with emotion."To get you out of the way.

"Out of the way? Get to the point."

"You are ... well ... you have something he wants. We Aesir want it too." Aesir is a word that refers to the gods.

"With me?" I asked. "I'm not carrying a thing! I swear!"

"At your house. I’ll.... I'll explain later, my girl. Tonight you need sleep." He walked to the door on the back wall and opened it to let me through. I stepped across the threshold.

Okay! I'm ready to write when someone else is!

I'd really like to write something and I don't mind who I'm paired with as long as we have somewhat similar writing styles.  I like fantasy or sci-fi but I'm probally a little better at fantasy. :)  I can post a sample later.

I want fantasy-comedy-action/adventure, please.  Yes, all of them together.

Sample:

It was a moonless night.  Clouds shrouded the stars like a thick blanket. Darkness crept in everywhere, snuffing out all attempts at lighting one's way. People everywhere were in bed, asleep.  Except one. A young woman was sneaking down the street, silently. She had a mission.  To steal something.  Something rare.  So rare, in fact, it was probably the rarest thing in the world.  One-of-a-kind.

She saw the building.  It was a massive marble building, grand but rustic. Great pillars reached into the sky, touching the high white ceiling.  She snuck in through a small open window cut into one side. She grabbed something in one of her pockets after her feet touched the floor. A magic invisibility potion. She wrapped her fingers around it and drank deeply from it. Nothing could see her, not even cameras or fancy radar technology.  She would need to be invisible, as she was not welcome here.  She was here to steal something.  A dragon egg.

Dawnpaw, you won't believe it, last year, I wrote a story about stealing a dragon egg too!!!

Here's the idea:

There are dragons in this world, but only evil ones, and they are more like magical Komodo Dragons. There is also a 'rebbelion'. They steal four dragon eggs. Also, in this world animals can shape shift(ex: red-tailed hawk/red fox, golden eagle/brown tabby cat), and they have a specail connection with humans, who can also shift into elk, deer, etc.

Maybe we can work together and combine ideas or somthing.

Can we?

Maybe.

I once had this idea that certain animals have elemental abilities (Foxes are fire) and that humans have certain elements, too. (some fire, some water, etc.) There's this huge competition between the humans with elements to see which element is best, and the elemental animals get into the excitement, too.

But stealing dragon eggs is always a fun time. /sarcasm because I am a huge dragon fan

*hyperventilates*  And maybe a story with awesome evil unicorns, or....

*rambles on for a long time*

Or animal witches, or some person traveling to different worlds, or the earth turning out to be magical, or elemental chickens, or book characters coming into the real world, or dragons, or some fantasy with birds and/or cats, or . . .

OK, so would you please find someone for me to write with? I don't mean to be nagging or rude, but I thought the whole point was to find someone to write with.
