Names. Ok,

Chatterbox: Inkwell

Names. Ok,

Names.

Ok, does anyone else out there spend a lot of time trying to think of just the perfect name for your main/side characters? Cause man, it can be exhausting!

How do you tend to pick out your characters' names?

How many times did you say, "but it's a diminutive version, and I don't think a diminutive version
would be good for a villain's name; it's less formidable; it's your
choice, though!"

Spammy says "hydy". Heyday?  Maybe...

I honestly don't know. I copied it and pasted it each time there was a diminutive version; I didn't write it out all those times. I was tired, and I suppose I didn't feel like saying, "but it's a diminutive version," or, "which is a diminutive version," or something like that every time there was a diminutive version...

Or Venefica? I just used an Internet translator to translate 'sorceress' into Latin, and that One of them happened to start with V and sound like a female name.

Aetc says hrmk. That's either harm (as in, "Your villain will harm people,") or "Hrm..." (as if wondering about names for her as well.)

There's already a Venificus in this thread: http://www.cricketmagkids.com/chatterbox/inkwell/node/65463

Oh, right. I completely forgot. Never mind, then.

Aetc says W( )D(o)xy. He seems to have named a doxy W... Just like the midge.

Well, Jassiana could still use Venefica. I mean, ML is a very nice person, I'm sure she would never think of impaling anyone... You know what? Never mind. I can't say (type?) that with a straight face.

Oh man, I know!  Trying to choose a name is the hardest thing in most stories.  Ugg.  I tend to go to this website called 20000 Names.  It's huge, and has great categories.  The only thing is there are a lot of pop-up adds to bug you, but as long as you're careful about closing them and not accidentally clicking them, it's all right.

Happy Birthday, Laura!

That sounds like a good resource for names. I will have to add it to my growing list of "name places".

Oh, and I know this is like almost a month late, but...Happy Birthday!

Add Behind The Name. It's wonderful. I highly recommend it.

But of course look at it first and decide for yourself if you want to add it or not. I'm just saying it's excellent.

No not really.

The most time I spend on a name is 5 minutes!!!!

I just randomly think of a name!

I like (and am saving for GOOD stories) Adessa Marie (one of the baby name is like), Ardessa Marie (another baby name), Andrew, Aaron, Anna, Grace, Noelia (my friend's name), Carolita, Christina, Sarah, Marie, Mary (or Mari).

See, that was super easy!!
