Synopsis from my nano page: "John Watson and Sherlock Holmes. They solve a murder. A bunch of
murders. And, in the process, join up with Chaotic Good rebels to fight
the Lawful Evil government. There are zombies and vampires and
werewolves, and also fae. And whatnot. And everything is vaguely
steampunk.

Also, Watson is a magician."

Two facts:

1. Staying up late = 4,000 words.

2. Staying up all night = attempting to speak German with a Spanish accident and wondering what in Io's name went wrong. :\

Also I'm all jittery 'cause I haven't slept in... let me see... well over 24 hours now, I can't do math like this x| and I've had way more caffeine than I've had in ages. [wild flailing]

What's a Spanish accident?

Sorry, I couldn't resist. You're such a good speller, TNO, you always say what you mean.

It's what a Spanish accent sounds like when you haven't slept in 24 hours :D

What year? I'm in 1880.

I'm doing something that vaguely involves creatures akin to angels and demons, crazy rituals, the occasional kidnapping and maiming, a high school, a demok heir, underground cities, cities in trees, a tiny bit of magic, the occasional flaming sword.

I started writing at 1 am on my iPad on November 1st because I had been reading on it using the Kindle, and I realized it was November 1st, so I started writing.

I have no outline. When I started, I had one character, a school, a vague idea of species, and that was all. Now I have over nine characters, a kidnapping is about to happen, and still no idea what I'm writing. And 2386 words.

I want a coke and wings and claws.

I do believe that I am going crazy.

Though I have no doubt that at one point, there will be a revolution, people or angiks or demoks will die, and the Judgment Day band will play, "Last Friday Night (We Killed a Few Angiks)" Also, there may be time travel and actual angels and demons involved. I'm not sure.

Have I mentioned that I think I'm going crazy?

Unfortunately for me, I'm still at 2444, and my dear mother is telling me to get off the computer and go take a shower because I have orchestra for which I play piano at 7:45 tomorrow.

And on the main site CreateSpace is offering 5 FREE PROOF COVERS OF NANOVEL for winners. For free. Did I mention 5? I should really get back on track since all homeworks done.

A pathetic 1546. :( Hopefully YWP (on which my goal is just 10,000) will offer the same offer as well. *crosses fingers*

Still 1546.

9.6K, yuss.

So I broke one of the Cardinal Rules of NaNoWriMo and went back to rewrite my beginning instead of forging bravely on. I redid the whole beginning, this time following STUD a lot less closely. It lost me some word count, but I'm still ahead and now I feel good about my beginning. The first meeting is my favourite scene ever; I wanted to get it right. ("You have been in Afghanistan, I perceive." I stole a bit from the Sherlock version of the scene because holy cake that was well done. Particular the way they dealt with Watson's Wandering War Wound. [My Watson, for the record, has a shoulder injury.] ACD's notorious suckiness at continuity has provided me with several other useful plot devices, though.)

WHat IS NaNoWriMo?

I believe it stand for National Novel Writing Month or something like that. It's a program where people aim to write a certain number of words in the month. Some of the participants can give you more details.
