NaNoWriMo is National Novel Writing Month, an annual challenge where participants try to write fifty thousand words - a short novel - in November. It's wicked fun and the reason I've written 11.4k since the first.

Scrivener is the best thing ever, I swear. I'm never going back to Word. Gorgeous, gorgeous.

You have Scrivener? I'm thinking about asking for it for my b-day (I'll hopefully have a winner's discount by now). Is it really that much better than Word?

7385. I wrote around 4000 today. And I did a mock theory exam. And the usual piano and theory lessons. I also had a pop swim practice.

I downloaded the NaNo trial version (though Dad has said that he'll get it for me when it runs out, if I win). And yes, it's ridiculously much better than Word - they don't even register on the same scale. It does everything except write the novel. And bring you cups of tea, it doesn't do that either. And it does not appear to have a flux capacitor or a chameleon circuit. (Or maybe it's just that the chameleon circuit doesn't work, because it still looks like a 1960s police box to me. But then, everything does, after a while.)

Why is it so much easier writing the insane people's parts? I just gave this entire cult/religion definition, rituals, gods, and priests.

I need CAFFINE. *begs parents for a can of coke*

Just asking- don't smite me for not knowing- what's steampunk?

Analesia: Prepare for a strange SC explanation.

Steampunk is a relatively new genre, that really has no defined boundaries or set themes. It is a combination of sometimes historical fiction, sometimes fantasy, sometimes science fiction, and most definitely something awesome. And there is usually some clockwork involved. And, depending, some romance, but the romance is very definitely optional. The way I think, steampunk is a lot of awesomeness thrown together in a way that makes even more awesomeness.

It's kind of hard to explain, so I'll just give an example:

Leviathan, by Scott Westerfeld

Set during World War 1 (historical), where the Central Powers (Austria-Hungary, Germany, etc.) are Clankers, metal workers, gear users.... and the Allies (England, France, etc.) are Darwinists, named for, of course, Charles Darwin. He took his research further then he did and discovered "life threads" (DNA) (science) The Darwinists have their beasties, animals created using different life threads from different creatures, and sometimes entire ecosystems. (science, but also a bit of fantasy)

Ugh. I'm a horrible explainer, but I hope that cleared it up a little bit.

Ever read Leviathan? The Clanker machines exude Steampunkness.

11,740. I have an hour and a half left though.

Oh, and they're doing the CreateSpace FIVE FREE PROOF COVERS!!!! offer for YWP. And I'm a member of both. *impish smile*

A copy of your book.

A real, live, non-breathing (paperback in this instance) copy of your book. Self-published book.

I'm supposed to be doing homework right now so nano's not open. Excel is. *sigh*
