Kyngdom Survival Guide

The group of

Chatterbox: KYNGDOM™ RP Board

The group of

The group of misfits, rebels and mislead oddballs had been camping out in the clearing long before now. They have a small dug-out patch of ground in the center for the fire and a fairly well-constructed, large canopy hanging above their heads that is composed of pieces of grass, twigs, string, and tree bark with enough wholes for the moke from the fire to escape. They shelter there, arguing and slashing at the nature around them, some of them stargazing and some pondering the great beyond. They were like a small, poorly functioning, wild family with a rather unhealthy mindset.

Their names are Aurora Dayle (who prefers to go by Rori, if you would like to keep your head soundly on your shoulders), Taurus Unstellei, Sorrel Flourola, Astrid, and West.

~The air stiffened, and we could feel a shift.~

None of them know what it means to be loved or give back to the world.

~The bushes rustled and shuddered.~

So perhaps you could teach them.

~And then a new hope for us emerged.~

~Anyone can join this RP. The charrie sheets for these guys are on the last and second-to-last pages of Who's here. Your charrie(s) are/is the one(s) coming from the bushes, and you can do whatever you would like (you don't have to follow the "new hope" thing if you don't want to).

The figure stumbled through the bushes. They held their hand against their stomach. Blood was pouring from between their fingers.

The base...it was gone, bombed--they tripped and stood back up, wiping blood and dirt from their eyes.

He stumbled through the bushes. They shook violently. Twigs snapped beneath his feet.

He came across a fire. He wasn't thinking straight, thought it must have been some other  Resistance members. He gasped and then fell, unconscious, as the fires of the base burned somwhere in the distance.

~Red~

I walked through the forest, my green eyes darting, searching every corner. Where is it? I pondered. It could be anywhere in this forest. But you have to go through. You always do. And remember the money you will be paid. I snarled. Why couldn't you get money easier?

Then I saw a light. Too big a light to be the jewel I'm looking for. The yellow-ish color means it probably is a fire. Probably innocent campers. But I'm curious. Maybe they have information I should know. I crept toward the light. I saw a campsite with ragtag people doing different things. Didn't look necessary or important. But I knew to be patient. Probably pointless but I was patient nonetheless.

Everything seemed normal and boring for a while. Then suddenly, a dark form came out of the bushes and fainted on the grass. Everyone in the campsite looked extremely surprised, as was I. What was happening here? Maybe this was going to be worth the wait.

West~

"Oi, West, you've got something stuck in your fur," Astrid informs me gruffly. I toss my head over my shoulder, peering at the matted ruffle of grey fur coating my body. "Where?"

"Right here," she says, placing her paw on it. Her fur is mated too, muddy browns mixed in with her slick red coat. "Here." She claws at it gently.

"Awww, how sweeet," Rori croons mockingly, her facial figures twisted with disgust. If this is what joking with your friends is, I really don't see what there is to enjoy about it- Rori makes it seem pretty un-fun. Actually, she makes everything un-fun, though I would of course never say that to her. She scares the Claaws out of me.

Still, I scowl. "Shuddup, Aurora," I mumble. Taurus's eyebrows do a dance. "Oooooo..." they squeal, preparing for a fight, throwing the stick they were fiddling with into the fire. My inner voice spews a strand of curses. Using Rori's real name is strictly forbidden by our code of extremely loose and few laws, most of which translate to "Roru rules over everything all the time, also don't question each others' weirdness cause none of us know what we're doing with out miserable lives".

I am saved by the bizzare appearance of a sudden crashing in the bushes. A bleeding mass of boyflesh crashes into our camp, causing both Rori and Taurus to swear and Astrid to accidentally scratch me with her fingernail. Even Sorrel seems intruiged.

Sorrel~

A breif, aimless conversation is being passed idily around the camp. The fleeting words spoken here matter not to the vast and relentlessly cold world, for we shall all be gone from it one day soon enough. It is all meaningless, and I am the only one who can see that. I feel that since everyone has assumed I know not of their ways and thoughts, I should not tell them otherwise. What good does justifying oneself do if they themselves hardly believe what they are saying to be true? I am not stupid, yet I do not possess some rare and difficult knowledge that they have not. I merely think beyond the plain that lies before me. What is past that. What comes after.

I am intrigued by the bleeding boy that has stumbled into our camp, however, as I have never seen him before and it seems a peculiar situation to be in. He looks beaten, weak, and desparate. A small surge of sympathy is overcome with my thoughts- will he die? What did he believe about death? Where did he come from? Did he lose all of his friends and family to the same thing that is weakening him now?

Astrid and Taurus rush to help him. West just looks confused. Rori looks revolted, like she can't believe someone would be so disrespectful to crash into her camp like this. She has no sympathy for this boy.

I see a creature lurking in the bushes nearby, but don't bother to mention it. It seems to be of no importance.

Kamau awoke to a ring of animal and human faces surrounding him.

He went to sit up, but didn't because there was a sudden flash of pain in his stomach. The events leading up to his wound rushed back to him, and he realized that he had no idea who these people were.

"....Well, you aren't the people I was looking for." Kamau looked at all their faces.

" Well, we weren't looking for you either! "  A girl with dark red hair snaps. She seems to be about my age, but much more immature.

One of the foxes rolls their eyes at this comment. "Ignore her," They mouth .

"Who were you looking for?" A quiet kid says. They had an oddness in their eyes--a sort of distant intelligence that both intrigued and frightened Kamau.

Kamau looked at the gang of misfits surrounding him. They definitely weren't Catastrophe's soldiers--if they were, he'd definitely be dead by now.

And anyways, his badge was sewn onto his jacket. They'd probably already seen it.

"The Resistance."

The redhead looked at his jacket. "Oh, you're a member. You Resistance members are so... law-abiding."

"Is that supposed to be an insult?" Kamau asked. The girl seemed a bit taken aback that someone would dare to defy her. "And anyways, at least we're organized. It looks you guys could use a lot more of that."

Aneko~

I look up at the faint moon. Tomorrow will be the Surge. I sigh, but deep down I like the Surges. They give me a power that I am helpless without, and they make me feel united with myself. A flicker to my right catches my eye. Soft voices whisper from it.

"What in Claaws' name...?" I creep closer to the flickering light, and I see another creature stalking around the perimeter. I scan the eyes of every creature I see. They are all non-threatening. I scoff. This'll be boring. Let's liven things up a bit, shall we? I slink away. After I reach a point where I can no longer hear them, I turn and walk back, only this time, I should come up right behind the person who was on the perimeter. As I stealthily close in on them, I draw my scythes. Then, with a well-practiced motion, I shift them into scythes and whip them up to the throat of my target.

~

She won't kill anyone, she just wants to see what they're made of. Aneko would like it best if she was "taken prisoner" or something. SHe's twisted like that.

Kamau~~

As the hours pass and it starts to get darker, the misfits introduce themselves to me. Despite their leader's rudeness, the rest of them seem to be pretty nice people. They just don't know what freedom really is, it seems.

The moon rises and I hear a loud rustling in the bushes surrounding the camp. Suddenly, two scythes are against Rori's neck.  Rori is able to easily get free from their grasp with a quick jab of her elbow. She rolls away from the attacker. The attacker is ready for this though. They cut one of the ropes holding up the canopy with a swift blow. The corner of the canopy falls, covering Rori. Before she's able to escape the leafy blanket, the attacker moves towards Sorrel.

Taurus pulls Sorrel to safety. I pull out a tranquilizer gun. The attacker, a young teenage girl, whips towards me. Before she's able to slice my head off, I pull the trigger. The shot hits her directly in the chest. She stumbles slightly before the dart works on her and she collapses in front of me.

Astrid~

So, the boy's name is Kamau, and he's Resistance. Rori obviously doesn't approve, but none of us approve of her walking around like she's the best thing that ever happened to Kyngdom. Why I still fight alongside her, honestly...

He is injured badly, but he pretends not to care. A vein goes in Rori's neck when she is cirtiqued, when is a rather amusing sight for the rest of us. Time passes. He doesn't leave. Rori's about to explode, I can tell. Part of me wants to see it, but I know it won't be pretty. I start wondering who we could get this boy to safety and medical care when I hear a noise from the bushes behind me like an injured animal. I turn, concerned.

"What...?"

Something errupts from the bushes and launches itself onto Rori. She screams, strartled but unwilling to show it, and rips the twisting mass away from her by hitting it in the gut wih her elbow. In one fluid movement, the attacker soars off of Rori, slices through one of the ropes supporting our canopy, and hurls itself toward Sorrel in a furious whirlwind of spitting and scythes.

Taurus~

Instictively, just as I did when Felix and Athena were already lost, I grab Sorrel around the middle and fling her out of harm's way. The attacker is enraged. It spins toward Kamau, revealing itself to actually be a teenaged girl, ready to unleash yet more fury, but Kamau pulls the trigger or a tranquilizer on her before she can do anything else.

Rori untangles herself from the leaves, cursing loudly and spiking fury into all of her movements. "Who the HECK-" (language edited)- "Thinks they can THROW THEMSELVES onto me and not PAY FOR IT??"

Someone unaware of your oh-so-influential power, Your rude-butted Highness, I think spitefully, inwardly rolling my eyes.

"Hey, the canopy!" cries West. "We spent forever on that!"

"And you all are welcome for that," Kamau grumbles. Rori huffs and mutters to herself furiously.

"Didn't have to be so gracious about it, Kamau," drawls Astrid.

"You are all missing the point!" hisses Sorrel. Which startles me- and everyone else- because if anyone would get our conversation back on track, I would never think it to be Sorrel

"What do you mean?" I ask quickly, intrigued. Worldlessly, she points to the bushes behind Kamau. In the silence, we all hear it- the whimpering of a wounded animal.

Aneko~

The last thing I think before I fall asleep from the darts is "That was fun..."

I wake up in ropes. Ha! To think mere ropes can hold me. My scythes are on the other side of the camp. I smile and lean like I'm drunk, performing like the sedative is still wearing off. A fox notices.

"She's awake."

Taurus~

As we all stare at the bushes, waiting for something to happen, Astrid calls, "You guys! She's awake."

And so she was. The madwoman, looking rather disoriented and strange, like the sleep dart is still wearing off, but I can see her looking at her scythes.

"We-eeell," she says, drawing the word out into two syllables, "I found that quite fun. Didn't you?"

Before any of us can reply, she's out of her bindings in a flash. Rori makes to grab the scythes, but Kamau gets there first. He starts towards the woods when West shouts, "No! We still don't know what was making that noise. You want to walk to your death?"

"Oh, and this situation doesn't put me in any danger at all," he replies sarcastically, though I see who panicked he is by the savage woman fighting for the scythes in his hands.

~~Sorry about the wait!

She's not savagely violent, but I can work with this.

Aneko~

I rip apart the ropes and leap for the person with my scythes. He fights back. Such fun! I don't want to hurt him, though. I look up at the moon. I could probably do a Surge, but tomorrow's will be slightly painful. I decide against it. Besides, these scythes are mine. I shout a sprite's enchantment, and my weapons fly out of the boy's hands and into mine. I fancifully return them to their sheaths on my back, then sit down pleasantly. They look at me in horror and distrust.

"Oh, no need to fear me-" I start. One of them explodes before I can finish.

"YOU JUST FOUGHT FOR YOUR WEAPONS-"

"They are mine. I was merely taking back what belongs to me."

"But you threatened to kill-"

"I wasn't going to kill him. I just wanted to know if you could defend yourselves. Since I beat you easily-"

"EASILY? EASILY???"

"Then again, I am a were-sprite, so I guess it's kind of an unfair fight."

~

I'm having a really fun time with this.

Kamau~~

There is an explosion of yelling.

"Alright, alright, calm down," I say, "No need to get so riled up over a fluffy fairy."

"Did you...just call me a fluffy fairy?" The girl says, raising her eyebrows in surprise .

"Yes."

"You know, with that injury you've got, you should really be more careful," she says.

"Are you implying my injury will keep me from beating you in a fight?" I ask. "Oh, and that enchantment was cheating, by the way."

Aneko~

"An enchantment is not cheating when there are no rules." I reply smoothly. He scrunches up his face, trying to come up with a refutation. "And yes, I do believe I could beat you in a fight." I Surge for a moment, showing a fraction of my power.

Rori~

The two are planning to fight. Right here! Talking about it, in fron of me, uninvited and in our camp when they don't even want to join us! I can't believe it! Can't they see my authority? Can't they see the power I uphold? No, this has gone too far.

"Hey!" I bark, "Nobody is fighting in my camp unless I'm in it!"

I rip the scythes from Kamau's hands before he can argue and throw them to the girl, who I'm pretty sure is more than just a human. "And take your dumb scythes already!"
