NAME Dr. Blart Blartrid 

NAME: Andrej Gillman 

SPECIES: Vampire (Sluagh Lineage)

JOB/TITLE: Scientist at SOCKS

APPEARANCE: Tall but hunched. Long thin black hair. Wide eyes. Thin lips and long, jagged fangs. Wears grey coats and tunics, mainly. Long fingers, and a bat-like face. Pointed ears like many naturally-born sluagh.

PERSONALITY: Confrontational and direct, but not out of genuine malice, more issues with empathy. He does his best. Bounces between a truly terrible attention span and hyperfixation on scientific projects. He's a loyal friend, but he tends toward being self centered. 

Area of scientific expertise: Chemistry and raising the dead. In a fun way!

BACKGROUND: Born to the Sludge Boys, a clan of Sluagh in a sewer. The Sludge Boys were lead by Wormeater Scur, Andrej's uncle. The Sludge Boys sided with The Rebellion not out of any lofty morals, about half of them would have willingly sided with Catastrophe, but out of fear of local Rebel Forces. The Scum Boys were a small group, and even more relentlessly darwinistic than other Clans. Andrej, a physically weak and "Low-Blooded" specimen, likely would have been outcast if not for his Uncle's relentless pampering. Andrej focused on his studies in an attempt to differentiate himself from his dozen or so cousins and siblings, and eventually managed to get into a university, which he was promptly removed from after turning his roommate. Now he's at SOCKS HQ. Joy.

Koeia paced back and forth in her lab room---a habit of hers, and it always helped her think. After her recent observations on magical abilities, specifically shapeshifting, she knew that she was about to hit something big. Discover something big. But the question was how.

Koe walked over to her desk and took up her papers she wrote on what she had so far. She flipped through them until she found the map of Kyngdom, and its neighboring islands. One of them was Lupine Island, and from what she researched, the people from there could---or used to be able to---transform into different creatures, namely wolves.

But how? Magic? Koe thought magic was cool and all, but she also knew that there must be some deeper answer other than magic. There must be some sort of science to it. She went back to analyzing her data. If only she could get a sample of a real life...no. She shook her head. Maybe one day she could get it, but it would have to be from a volunteer. Or maybe there will be some leftover evidence of one of them somewhere in Kyngdom and she could harvest it. She was not going to use any sort of methods like BIG. 

She sighed as she thought about BIG. When she was younger, she had fallen in love with science, and the big science name at the time was BIG, after SOCS had fallen. But because Koe showed no interest whatsoever in Catastrophe this, Catastrophe that, the bigger cause, she wasn't accepted. And that was when she found SOCKS, and ended up here.

In the middle of her thinking, she suddenly heard a noise at the door. She exited her lab room, making sure to close the door, and saw that it was Blart, returning from whatever he did on his excursions.

"Welcome back, Dr. Blartrid," she greeted.

NAME: Theori Haridal (pronounced theory har-i-doll; purposely a play on words). 

SPECIES: Human

JOB/TITLE: Bioengineer/geneticist

AGE: 33

PRONOUNS: she/her

APPEARANCE: Dark brown hair that is fairly short, blue eyes, usually wearing gray (her favorite color) and a silver bracelet in the shape of a double-helix. 

PERSONALITY: Tends to be more quiet and observant (until you break the ice by mentioning anything related to genetics, that is), diligent, generally calm and collected, kind, passionate, can lose her patience and get resentful easily (this does not result in very much anger, but it takes her a while to to regain her usual composure), and focused. She works best when she’s by herself.

AREA OF SCIENTIFIC EXPERTISE: Genetics/Biotechnology

BACKGROUND: She used to work at BIG researching genes and genetically editing bacteria cells, but left at about the same time as Dr. Blart Blartrid when BIG started experimenting on animals and humans. Theori Haridal is not her real name. She changed her name entirely it after leaving BIG, but no one knows exactly why, and no one knows her real name either.

"Ah, Astri," Blart grunted, using her last name like usual. "I had a question for you, Astri. We've recently received funding for another expedition. The Resistance wants us to spend it on researching the Powers. But personally, I'm quite fed up with doing whatever the Resistance wants, and besides, we've already funneled plenty of money into the Powers and made scant progress. You've been researching Lupine Island and it's inhabitants recently, haven't you?"

"You have a point, Dr. Blartrid," Koe replied. "And yes I have been researching." She couldn't help excitement creeping into her voice as she continued, "I've been researching how its inhabitants can shapeshift, and I think I'm onto something big."

Interesting. Andrej listens awkwardly from behind a corner, because of course he does, That's the right thing to do. He feels morally justified, by the Powers. Definitely... That is the term he would use, undoubtedly. 

"And it is definitely worth investigating. We could discover how to shapeshift ourselves!"

Yes, she said that, the... Human. With the blood. Excellent. Shapeshifting sounds excellent. Andrej feels a deep desire to be on that mission, and not here, with an old man WHOM HE RESPECTS, OF COURSE. But yes, field work. The point was--is. Is. Field Work. It is only a matter of strolling confidentally around the corner, and looking trustworthy. Haha, yes.
