Hunger Games RP.

Chatterbox: Pudding's Place

Hunger Games RP.

Hunger Games RP.

Another one, yes. Because the old one was really fun. Just a typical Hunger Games, begins with the reaping, ends with the Victory Tour.

You can make more than one character, yes.

 You can make mentors, yes.

No gory descriptions. Actually, no descriptions of deaths at all.

Just follow the guidelines, okay? Apart from the fact that we're killing each other.

So. Yeah. Anyone want to join?

Again, don't worry, Admins. We'll keep to the code... Err... Guidelines/too much PoC.

Also, I'm not entirely sure what you mean by 'pulling a Katniss'. If it means that a twelve wins the hunger games, then we'll have to wait -- I sort of want Ness to win, and SC wants Calan to win. If you just meant that Katniss is your mentor, then, well, not really, since that interferes with the storyline -- I doubt that both Katniss and Cato could've won the Hunger Games, and me and SC want Cato as our mentor.

Also, SC, mind if you introduce Cato? I don't really know how he'd act...

Sorry, I was on vacay and the wifi there was awwwwful.

So, I'm thinking Liriope with Siv, but can I pretty please stab him in the back with an axe when he's not looking?  *gives puppydog face*

Liriope:

I sit there watching all the other Tributes on the television. They all look scary.  There's this one boy, Siv, who looks sort of trustworthy.  Maybe we could have an alliance.  If he doesn't try to kill me.

Mecinda comes in.  "Hello, again, Tributes.  Here are your mentors.  Johanna Masonhere will be working with you, Liriope.  Oakl Hubert will be working with Kestrel.  I'll leave you to... Mentoring!" she trills in her singsong voice.

Oakl brings Kestrel into another room.  "Great, another powderpuff," Johanna scoffs.  I pick up the knife from the food that was set on the coffee table.  It whizzes by her face as it hits its mark, a pink puff pastry.  She pulls the knife out of the pastry and licks the pastry off.  "Way to pull a Katniss," she says.

"I'm nothing like that weakling," I say, trying to make myself sound brave.

"Okay, quit the act," Johanna tells me, laughing, "I've known you long enough, Liri.  You're too nice."

We both start giggling at my acting skills.  "But, seriously," she says, stopping her laughter, "The nice girl is a great angle.  It gets sponsors.  And few people will want to have an alliance with you, since you don't look like you can kill.  Sometimes, that an be a good thing."

"There's only one person I think I might want to have an alliance with," I say, pointing to the television where Siv is shown at the Reaping.

Johanna looks at him.  "He looks like a weakling," Johanna says, "Oh, I know what you're trying to pull."  She looks at me with admiration.  "You're quite evil, kiddo.  Oh, and just warning you, the stylists are going to dress youup as a tree. Prepare to be embarrassed."

He can kill him if he wants. Or Ness can kill him. That'd be fun. Or he can kill him and she can kill someone else...like Jenny. Or maybe someone more challenging.

I'm calling her Ness, but you can call her whatever you want. Call her Nessie The Loch Ness Monster if you feel like it X3

 Sylvia has to... Okay then?/confusion

That's awesome. Go for it.

I'm not sure. Kestrel just asked her because he was nervous and because he'd form an alliance with Deniss if it meant not being alone (that was a hyperbole). She might form an alliance with Cleo and Kestrel, yeah. I just did the alliance thingy because I lacked pie. Or something. I dunno.

Yes, Blue Moon, feel free to join. Just try to catch up.

As SC said, Katniss Everdeen perished tragically. So your mentor is Haymitch, unless some new person from 12 won the 76th or 77th.

Will post when Melody's post shows up.

I had idea.  What is peeta died and Katniss one the seventy forth and Cato wone the sevendey fifth! Woo hoo! Cina is my styalist! Pulling a Katniss is getting the attention of the game makers with an almost direct hit in their faces, but hiting their food.

Okay, I guess that would work, but Katniss couldn't have shown any sign of rebellion against the Capitol during the actual Games or people like Prim, Katniss's mom, Gale and his family, otherwise Snow and Co. would have killed some of those people as a warning towards Katniss. She can't really be a rebel, because everyone knows that the Capitol just can't stand rebels.

Oh, and Annie, is Maple dying or is it possible that she might be the victor?

I'm back from vacation!

And have just spent an unnecessarily long time reading pages 2-5 of this RP!

So yes, Alexander and Hyaline will both join the Career pack. I may write a little bit from Alexander's point of view.

Since I didn't have a bio for Alexander, I'll write a little about him now.

He's 16 years old. He is a Career and will be joining the Career pack. He's strong and mostly uses a sword, but he's not exactly a major contender, unlike Hyaline. He'll probably be killed off around the time nine or ten tributes are left.

I'll post as soon as all the comments show up.

Okay, I'll post now. :D

Hyaline~

I boarded the train with a smile on my face. Camellia was right behind me, chattering away like a bird. I didn't mind. I was basking in my triumph.

Alexander Drastin would be no problem. Sure, he was stronger than me, and he'd been trained for this, but a knife in the back and he'd be taken care of. I knew my mentor would be Cecilia Morse, the victor from the Games a few years ago.

As I expected.

"This is your mentor," says Camellia, trailing behind Cecilia as she enters the room. "She'll be helping you win the Games and . . . er . . ."

She trails off. We're both casting her such mortifying glares I'm surprised she didn't perish on the spot.

"Anyway," she warbles, "She's here to help you. So be nice, Hyaline!"

I rolled my eyes. Since when am I nice?

"Okay, Hyaline," says Cecilia, her eyes gleaming. "You're a Career. You've been trained in the ways of the Games. So unlike in many of the other districts, I don't need to talk you through weapons and tactics. You know what to do."

"Right," I replied.

"But I am going to ask you, what weapon do you prefer to use?"

"Throwing knives," I said immediately.

"Good. We'll work with those in the Training Center. In the meantime, you can watch the other reapings. I'll help you assess your opponents."

She turns on a television set.

The first reaping shown is from District One. I can't help but smile as I am chosen. I look striking, confident, and as deadly as a snake. Oh, yes. My opponents will be intimidated.

District Two: A girl with blond hair, freckles, and brown eyes. Aha. A fellow Career. She'll be in the pack. She's the one I'm itching to stab as soon as I get the chance. She looks serious, so the earlier she's gone the better. Also, a boy who talks with a nasally voice. He looks annoying. I'll kill him at the Cornucopia.

At District Three, a scared-looking girl and a surprised but angry-looking boy. Both weak and easy to kill. I waved them off.

In District Four . . . Two Careers. More allies, more enemies. I licked my lips. If there's a trident or some nets in the arena, those two have serious sponsors headed their way.

District Seven, even more boring than three. An average boy, but the girl might cause a little trouble. Oh, it's fine. She's not going to make it into the pack, so we'll hunt her down right away.

Ten is two siblings. I feel a flash of sympathy for the parents, but then it's gone. They both look weak and stupid, like cows. Two knives, two down. Simple enough.

Eleven, a boy and a pretty nice-looking girl. She's going to get a lot of sponsors and whatnot. It'll do us well to collect her supplies after we kill her. She'll have some good stuff. She can probably climb trees, but that won't do her any good.

Twelve, another weak boy and a girl who looks shocked. No trouble at all. There's been no one good since Katniss Everdeen, and she should have been killed when the Careers found her. The tracker jacker thing was just a fluke.

And that's it.

Cecilia turns the set off and turns to me. "Well. My assesment says the pack this year will consists of you and Alexander plus the District Two girl, possibly the boy, and both tributes from Four. That's five of you. Not a lot, considering the size of the pack in recent years. But many of the others will be easy to take out, at the Cornucopia and later." She begins ticking off fingers. "I'll bet Three goes down at the Cornucopia. No physical strength or speed. District Seven, the boy at the Cornucopia and the girl later. Ten, easy. The brother might make it out of the Cornucopia---the girl will protect him---but he'll be on his own and clueless. Eleven, the boy probably at the Cornucopia. The girl will have a lot of sponsors, so if she escapes the bloodbath she'll be off pretty well. Twelve, simple." She stopped and gave a little tinkling laugh. "Am I boring you to death?"

"No, it's interesting."

"It's not." Cecilia walks over to me and puts her hand on my shoulder. "Listen, Hyaline. You're going to go out there and you're going to fight in those Games." She held up a hand to halt my response. "I know you've been trained. And I can tell you're ready. You're fit and you're clever enough to hold your own. But you might not make it out. Some of those others? The girl from Two, the tributes from Four. Alexander shouldn't give you too much trouble, but the others . . . well, Hyaline, the way I see it, the outcome of this Games is divided four ways. You, and the three I just mentioned. Even if you don't like it, the odds are stacked against you three to one. It's that way for each of the four." She paused. "And those odds are not in your favor."

By the time I went to bed, my mind was whirling with her words. Was she right? Was she telling me I would die, or was she just preparing me for the worst? Hope for the best, but expect the worst. That had been my way of thinking for a long while, but in this Games I had thought of no alternative besides my victory.

No, she's wrong. I'll win. The odds are in my favor.

Or are they?

~

WOW, that was a long post.

Oh, and yeah. Cecilia's assesments may have been totally inaccurate. She's pretty cocky.

Everyone should finish a meeting with their mentors, and then we can do stylists and the Tribute Parade.

So, Dennis is a contender, but Cecilia ranked him low because she knew everybody was going to kill him the first chance they got. :P

However, I'm thinking Four won't do so well, actually, since we're in a kind of desert environment. (Yeah. I'm good with that idea.)

How about the only water source is underground? Like in the canon Quarter Quell, you had to get water from the trees. Here, you need to dig to get water.

Dennis is not a contender. He has gained Luxuria Salman status. He doesn't die at the Cornucopia, but a few minutes after the inital bloodbath when the Career Pack goes hunting and someone in the pack gets annoyed and stabs/tridents/kills him.

I suggest for your outfit you have a long twirly dress, pure black, each time you move black powder comes off, at the end, I suggest you light the outfit on fire. Or, you could be a canary, to symbolize the ones they keep in the mine, you can have a dress with yellow feathers and a mascerade mask. I'm out of ideas

I have no idea what's happening with Liriope.  Kill her, make her victor, I don't care.  Just let her stay alive till the end, please.  Oh, and can I kill Siv?

Liriope~

We had finally made it to the Capitol.  It went by much faster than I had hoped, since I was dreading our arrival so much.  The whole ride, I was waiting for the train to derail or something.  Anything to give me the chance to escape.  The only reason I hadn't locked myself into my room was Johanna.  Since I had known her since I was little, we were always telling each other inside jokes, like, "Peanut brittle bananas."

"Liriope?  Are you okay?" Kestrel asked.  I nodded, and tried to look braver.  I can do this.  I can do this.  Kestrel took my hand and squeezed it.  "We're not going to die," he tells me, "Yet."  I glare at him until he releases it.  I walk into the building where I'll be spending most of my time the next few days.  Mecinda instantly escorts us into an elevator.  We ride down to the prep level.

"Hey, Liri," a woman with purple skin calls, "I'm Kollina.  Jewel, Vidienne, and I are going to be your prep team."  Jewel has silver hair and Vidienne's wearing a big plastic bubble for clothes.  I'm guessing I'm lucky it's tinted green.

I try to smile.  "Hello girls," I whisper.   They quickly scrub away all the dirt that has accummulated on my skin from all the years of working cutting down trees.  By the time they're done, my long brown hair actually looks glossy and clean.  It never does!

"Time for you to meet Helga, your stylist," Vidienne trills.  Her bubble wiggles as she escorts me to a small room.  An older woman with gray hair and blue eyes walks in.  I'm astonished someone could live to be that old.  No one lives that long in our district.  Vidienne scurries away.

"Welcome, sweetie," Helga drawls.  She doesn't have a Capitol accent.  "Before you ask, yes, I'm originally from District 13.  My father was a Peacemaker, so I moved away before it was destroyed."

"That means you're at least..." I start.

"Yes, yes, I'm old, I'm old," Helga says, dismissing my comment with a wave of her wrinkled hand, "My daughter was supposed to be your stylist, she's been one for years, but there was an incident with hair dye, so I stepped in.  And believe me, I'm not going to force you to wear a tree costume.  I have a better idea."  She looks me over.  "I think you'll be able to fit into my first one."

Hours later, I look at myself in a large mirror.  I don't look that bad.  Instead of being dressed as a tree, I'm only dressed as one leaf.  The green really brings out the color in my eyes.

I ended up not posting as Anesla, I didn't have enough time.

 @ Annie

Go ahead with Katniss... We're trying to please everyone here, so okay. But Peeta died.
@ Melody
I think Liriope is obeying you completely, just like all your other characters...coughcoughnotcoughcough. But it's okay, it happens to all of us. I didn't mean it as an insult.
@ SC
Again, I'm not really sure what a mentor-Cato should be like, so can you just let him begin to mentor us so that I can get a general idea?
@ LD
Wow. Cool ideas, though I'm kind of leaning toward the canary idea because catching fire would be like another Katniss, which wouldn't be the best idea because a) having the mc for a mentor AND having a costume with a similar theme to the mc's would increase Sue status (not that Maple's a Sue, but even the most balanced characters can develop into Sues over time).
@ Annie again
I don't think a coconut tree really fits into the environment. But maybe if you desperately need coconuts then Caesar Flickerman asks her what she would want most in the games, she says 'coconuts', and then some sponsor charmed by her awesomeness sends it to her? That is, something of the sort except more subtle.
@ Everyone
I'm going to post.
Kestrel Lapidus~
After my one attempt to comfort Liriope, I decided to give up. She doesn't need to be comforted, she can use an axe, she'll probably get sponsors, she has a good mentor. Plus, the less close we get, the less upset we'll be when one, the other, or both die, and the less likely we'll be to have to pull what Estelle calls a Katniss-Peeta angle.
"Good luck with your stylist," Oakl snickers at me. Last year, they dressed the sevens up as trees, the year before we were different trees, the year before that they felt creative and dressed us up as sheets of paper. I suppose we're better off than 12, though the new stylist that designed Katniss Everdeen's clothes is doing well.
But before I even know my costume, I have to undergo the humiliating process of being stripped, plucked, washed, and whatever by my prep team. One had yellow hair, neon green eyeliner, and purple lips. Another was relatively normal, apart from the fact that she had a tail, whiskers, and little ears sticking up out of her blonde hair. The last had skin in a revolting shade of fuchsia and a wig -- I hoped -- that was made up of writhing snakes. Artificial, probably.  She told me that it was based on a myth from before the Capitol existed. I didn't really want to think about that, so I just said 'interesting'.
At least, they were done, and I got to meet my stylist. She was a young woman with spiky purple hair, silver skin, and a curly tattoo thingy on her cheek.
"Hello, Kestrel! I'm Cornelia, and I'm your stylist!" she exclaimed, eyeing me critically from head to toe.
"I still have all my teeth, if you're wondering," I said weakly, creeped out by the way she was staring at me.
"That's good, at least." I'd been trying to make a joke.
"Now, my partner, though she's a little old-fashioned, had a wonderful idea for a costume. You are going to be..."
 "A tree?"
"No," she smiled mysteriously. "Try again!"
"Another tree. A piece of paper. An axe. A woodsman. A piece of bark." I tried.
"No, no, no, no, and definitely no. Behold!" With a flourish, she holds up an orangish-brown suit that looks a bit like an oversized, flawless, stereotypical leaf.
 "A leaf...?" I asked slowly.
"Kid, if you were any slower, you'd be going backwards. Yes, a leaf! A beautiful, wonderful, autumn leaf. Your friend is a spring leaf, green, but we thought brown would go better with your eyes and complexion."
 "Okay..."
"You'll look stunning!" With that, she pulls the costume over my head.
~~~
 When Liriope sees me, a giggle escapes her. She's wearing a costume like mine, except hers is bright green and she actually looks nice in it.
