Online Add-on

Hey, everybody! You may remember a game called "Add-on" that the characters play in the book Big Nate Strikes Again by Lincoln Peirce. Well, we can play it over the Internet! The rules are like this:

We all suggest features for a character: "a pegleg, wonky eyes, three noses", to name a few. Then we must all draw our own pictures with a character featuring those features. On a given date, we all stop suggesting features and post our pictures here, so we can comment on them!

If some people want to just suggest a feature but not draw a picture, or vice versa, you can do that too.

We'll all stop suggesting feautures by March 27.

If you want to participate but do not know how to submit an image with a post of yours, here's how:

1. Post your image (s) on another website. I like to put text before and after the desired material to make the next step easier.

2. Highlight the image (s) with your mouse, and hit "Ctrl" and "C" at the same time. (If you're a Mac user, use "Command + C" instead. This is copying it.

3. Go back to your post, and while typing, hit "Ctrl + V" or "Command + V". It will become part of your post just like the text you type. If you put in text to "bracket" them like I do, then remove that text unless you want it there.

4. Add any additional text you want to put with your image into the post, and submit it! Ta-da!

If you do not understand any of these steps, then just ask me for help. Admins, feel free to refer this to anyone who asks about how to post images in future.

So let's play Add-on! I'll start the suggesting features with a cowboy hat! Great. If you want to play this game, go grab a nice big sheet of paper, draw a cowboy hat, and add other features as people suggest them. I'll do it myself later.

Write it down on a piece of paper. That's what I did. Also, can we draw more than one person? My person started looking really freaky.

No, I've already colored it and don't want to trash at this stage~

We could do another once this one has finished.

Okay then, we can just remember it for next time. I contradicted the I Love Pi T-shirt with the sleeveless t-shirt addition, so pick one or the other. I'll remember to write it down next time.

You can draw more than one person if you want, Theo. I'll write down everything that was submitted and rearrange my drawing later.

You could have a sleeveles shirt that says I Love Pi. With a tailcoat over it.

Oop, too late! Already drew otherwise! (And I couldn't find a way to fit the tailcoat in, sorry.)

Does anyone think we should just stop here? I've pretty much got a full-featured person now, and I can't really add anything else over all my marker and colored pencil.

Okay, you know what? I'll just post mine now, since no one else seems to have any more features to suggest and we all seem to be done.

So, what do you all think?

Theo, your picture is HILARIOUS and you are an AWESOME DRAWER! I'm going to start our next game of Add-On now!

Speaking of awesome drawer, we got lots of awesome entries for the March Cricket League art contest, Inspired by the Sea. The judging was really difficult because we go so much outstanding artwork. Winners will be shown in the July/August Cricket and on the website at that time. Right now you can see art from earlier contests at: www.cricketmagkids.com/contests
