~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
For some, that letter probably sounded familiar...I the Phantom, have officialy reopened the Hallows Eve Hotel and anyone here is welcome to join us! I, the Phantom, first officicially opened the Hallows Hotel to the good citizens of CB last October. After some...shall we say, unforunate incidents. Some people left our numbers. Something to do with...over spicyness? Hmm...anyhoo! Everyone is welcome! We will arrive tomorrow evening, where I will make introductions. And no, you do not have to arrive tomorrow, that is when room arrangements will be made. You can arrive anytime and will be welcome! We need a minimum of 6 to get this going, and there is no liit to who can join! AEs welcome!
Note from the writer: Hey crew! For those of you that were here last time the Hotel was opened, you know that I cut the story a little short (headdesk). And unfortunanlty, some of our fellow guests from then have since left the CB:( But for those of you that wish to join again, I was going to ask you. We can either ignore last year's storyline and start fresh, or we can put it in a setting that corresponds to the events of last year, except I can make it so that maybe everyone went home after the hotel murders, and came back this year or something. I don't know. I need input!
Awesome! Guys, everyone is more than welcome to join whether you were here last or not;)
Day 1~
The Artist stood outside of her house on the sidewalk, looking around. She was sopposed to be arriving at the hotel that evening! How was she soposed to get to the hotel? Was theyre some sort of haunted bus service? With her bags clutched in her hands, she began walking slowly down the sidewalk. She looked up at the sky, which had a few stars just beginnning to appear. The moon shined low over the trees in the west, and the last bit of red horizon was just dissapearing in the east. It was beutiful. But just then, as she peered at the moon, she noticed a tiny speck in the didtance. The speck wasn't large, but it was getting bigger every second. Before too long,  she could make out what looked like...no way. The object finnally came into full view. It was a bus. It was made of black wrought iron, welded into the shapes of werewolves, vampires, ghouls, and other monsters all over the bus. There were no windows, and no door, just stairs into the bus. The machine hit the pavement hard and stopped with a great screech of metal next to The Artist. The driver was, (of course) a ghost. He smiled merrily down at her.
"Wonderful! Another guest! Please, hop on!"
Smiling, The Artist grabbed her bags and jumped onto the bus. the seats were filled with passengers. Other specially invited guests, she figured. She took a seat next to two other girls. Just as she sat down, the bus started driving again. It picked up speed, then it gave a great lurch and was in the air again.
"Hi!" She said to them.
"Hey! Nice to meet you, Im Zaiden." Said one of the girls.
"I'm Pepper Star." Siad the other. "You excited about this vacation? I've heard that the hotel has won multiple awards."
"Yeah!" Said Pepper. "I-" But Pepper's words were cut short as the loudspeakers in the bus crackled and came on.
"Hello honored guests of the Hallow's Eve Hotel! We will be arriving at the resort in less then ten minutes, so pleas esit back ,make yourselves comfortable, and prepare for teleportaion!" The loudspeakers crackled off again.
"Teleportation!" Zaiden almost shouted. "Thsi is going to be bumpy, HANG ON!" The three girls grabbed their armrests as the bus gave another loud screech. The air around them all of a sudden started to glow purple. Energy was flowing all around them, and then, in a split second, everyone on the bus felt like theyd been thrown into a tumble dryer. The bus wobbled and shuddered violently, a purple energy swirled all around the bus. Not ten seconds later though, the bus gave one more lurch, and they were on the ground. The bus was parked right next to the biggest castle The Aritist had ever seen in her life. It was in the middle of a large clearing surrounded by dark forests on all sides. There were ornate carvings, stain glass windows, and statues (all depictions of strange creatures) covering the wgole structure, and far up in the air, the guests could see large battlements and towers. There was a long flight of steps leading to a wooden, two part door. There were iron bars for handles.
The loudspeaker crackled again. "Please exit the bus." They all got out and stood at the foot of the steps. The Artist and her new friends were standing next to a very odd asortment of people. One was wearing a cape and a mask,  and kept randomly pulling pies out of his cape to lob at people, one was a large dragon, and the last was another girl about there age.
"And who might you three be?" Asked The Artist.
The dragon turned it's head in there direction. "Im Spyro, it's a pleasure."
"Masked Piester!" Said the caped pie-er
"I'm Novelist." Said the last girl, ducking as another pie flew through the air.
"Msker Piester!" Soemone shouted from the crowd.
"Uh , oh! Gotta Go! Goodbye!" Said MP running off throught the crowd. Artist and the others all laughed.
"Oh, look!" Said Pepper, pointing towards the top of the stone steps.
"Now the fun starts." Said Zaiden. Strange red smoke was starting to swirl at the top of the steps, and then with a loud bang, a cloaked figure apeared. A hood veiled the face, but it's voice was merry.
"Welcome friends, to the Hallow's Eve Hotel!" Everyone cheered. "I am the proud owner of this establishment. Just call me The Phantom." He dramatically waved his arm. "Tomorrow we will begin our activities, but for now, I wil anounce room arrangements. I know you are probably exausted from your travel." He reached inside his cloak and produced a roll of parchment. Opening it he read;
"Room One will consist of; Daisy, hotairballoon, Bolten, Brookeira, and Misty. Room two will be Novelist, Pepper Star, Zaiden, The Artist, and Sweet Tea. Room three will be Bombett, Keleidoscope Gryphon, Beth, Brookeira, Leafmist, and Fia. And Finally we'll have Masked Piester, Spyro, Gossomer, Lilycat, Burt, and Waffle." With that, The phantom rolledup the parchment and stuck it in it's robes. "The ghost staff will show you to your rooms, good night, and enjoy your stay here!!!" The Phantom exploded into smoke.
"I'm exausted, lets go to bed." Said Novelist.
"I second that motion!"  Said Pepper.
"Anyone up for a little hot-nted hot chocolate?" Asked Zaiden. "The brochure said it was dementionally-famous!"
"Uuummm..." Said Gryphon. It was 8:00 in the morning. She, Brookeira, Bombett, and Leafmist were all at a table in the Dining Hall (which looked almost identical to the one at Hogwarts). Ghostly waiters were floating all around the room delivering platters of odd eatables for the cbers. Gryphon was staring down at her plate, but she was fairly certain it was staring back. There was pink jello with what she hoped was pineapple floating around inside. There were strange, pear-like fruits, some kind of cheerio looking cereal that let out tiny screams when you poured milk on it. The final thing though were greenish egg looking things (without the ham) that had yolks which were twitching oddly. Almost like it they were blinking up at her...
"So guys, any idea of today's agenda?" Asked Brookeira.
"No," said Leafmist, "but I wish that The Phantom would hurry and anounce it, the AEs at table six over there are starting to throw food. That's always a bad sign."
Brookeira's eyes widened. "Masked Piester, that does NOT go in your mouth!"
Just then, on cue, there was an explosion of red smoke at the entrance to the dining hall. "Gooood morning everyone!" The Phantom called merrily. Everyone turned to face her(or him!)."I hope you all got a good night's rest last night, because we're going to have an extremely busy day today! We are going to play hide and ghost-seek inside the castle!" Everyone cheered.
"The rules are simple! You will all go out into the castle and hide, while four of our staff members count to one- hundred. They will then go out and try to find you. If you are found, you will be taken back to this room to wait for the game to end. If you are the last one found, you will win a fabulous prize! (Courtesy of Quickenmoans, giving loans to monsters everywhere since 1823!) However, I will warn you, be careful. There are many strange creatures, hidden traps and passages in this castle. So have your eyes open."
"Now! Since everyone is done with their meals, our staff will begin counting, aaaaand...GO!" With that, The Phantom exploded into red smoke and disappeared.
With that, everyone jumped out of their chairs and ran out of the door and into the castle.
*****
Ten minutes later, Katy was running down a long hallway. She was fairly certain the ghost staff couldn't find her now. She was a long way from the dining hall now. She slowed down. This was perfect! She stopped walking all together to catch her breath. The hallway she was in now was lined with doors. they all looked the same. She started walking again, slower this time though. But before she had gone much farther, one of the doors flew open and slammed into her. She staggered backwards.
"Katy!?" Said a surprised voice. There in front of her stood Beth, Bombett, and Leafmist.
"What are you doing here? Are you all right?" Asked Bombett with concern.
"I'm fine, I thought nobody else was here!"
"Well, we came from the other direction. I cant remember exactly how we got here now." Said Leafmist in embarrased amusement.
"We're all here, so why dont we just continue together?" Suggested Bombett. They all agreed.
"Alright, let's move people!" Katy said. They marched on through the hall. Then they came to another hall, with similar matching doors, then around another corner only to find more matching doors. After about another ten minutes of this, Beth held up her hands.
"Guys, I think we're going in circles." She said. Everyone burst into talk at once.
"No, we just turned-"
"I thought this hall looked different-"
"That's perposterous we-"
"EVERYONE SHUSH!" Shouted Beth. "I hear soemthing..."
They all listened intenetly. Indeed, there did seem to be a noise. Almost like whispering. Beth walked forwards a step.
"I think it's coming from one of these doors..."
"Beth, don't open any of them, there might be something alive there!" Yelped Leafmist.
"Oh dont worry, it's-" But she never finnished her sentence. She had grasped the doorknob and twisted it. There was a loud crashing sound, and all of the otehr doors up and down the hallway all at once sprung open. There was all of a sudden a blast of cold air, a shrieking sound, and everything went black. By the time the group had woken up again, Beth was nowhere to be found.
R.I.P. Beth, or is it?
Sorry about all the mix ups guys! I'll post the room arrangements again. And if I make the same boy or girl mistake again, (sorry Zaiden!) I apologize. I'm not aquainted well with everyone yet. Day 3~
Hotairballoon woke up at around seven in the morning. The sun was barely starting to appear over the horizon through the window. She got out of bed and walked quietly over to the large windows overlooking the forest. a a few birds were starting to sing morning tunes, orange, red, and purple leaves were flying around in the breeze, and a single owl flew into the forest, heading back to it's roost for the day. She heard a small noise behind her. She turned around and saw Daisy climbing down from her top bunk.
"Good morning." Whispered Daisy. Hotairballoon smiled.
"Good morning, you want to go on down to breakfast? I think everyone else will be asleep a while."
"Sure, sounds good." The two girls walked out of their rooms and down the hall to the large stone staircase. At the base of the stairs, and the tops of them. their were stone gargoyles that would tell you what was on the breakfast menu, directions, and even who won the Foot-less ball championships. After the gargoyle had described the morning's meal of Sceeching Scones and Demon Doughnuts, the two walked down the several flights of stairs to the main floor and to the dining hall. Bolten, Misty, Cortana and Brookeira came down and sat with HAB and Daisy. After they ate, they talked awhile about Beth, and then about the her mysterious demise.
"They said that she just dissapeared! The doors all started to swing open and shut, and then soemthing caused them to black out. When they woke up, Beth was gone." Cortana recounted.
"That's very strange. Freak magic door incidents happen occationally, though... I guess." Said Brooke.
The murderer smiled to herself (or himself). She was sitting not to far away from the occupants of room 4, and had heard everything. Then, (tight on time, as usual) The Phantom's red smoke explosion went off in the hall entrance and The Phantom appeared, wearing his (or her) usual black cloaked attire.
"Good morning, friends. Before I go to the announcements, I wish to take a moment to remember our friend Beth." THere was a pause. "Now," The Phantom pulled a scroll out from his cloak. "Now today, we have an exeptionally hard challenge for you all. We will be particiating in a haunted corn maze navigation race today. You will be broken up into teams, and then sent out into the maze through different entrances. The first team to find their way out wins! The corn has also been enchanted so you cannot break through the stalks. You will always reappear right where you were the moment before. The staff will tell you your teams. Good luck!" With that, The Phatnom exploded and vanished into smoke.
"Haunted maze! Yay!" Said Misty excitedly. "This sounds terrifyingly awesome!"
*****
HAB was teamed up with Riddler, Kestrel, and September for teh competition. They recieved cryptic maps of the maze, then they set off into it. At first it seemed like any other maze,  but as they got deeper into it, the corn stalks grew taller, the sky darkened a little, and the breeze picked up.
"I think we should turn here." Said Kestrel, pointing right at a fork in the maze. The continued walking.
"So, are we soposed to encounter some sort of monsters or soemthing? It doesn't seem very haunted in here." Commented Riddler. Just then, they heard a not so far off screech. "Nevermind!" She squeaked. Kestrel held up her hand.
"Stop!" Listen, I think whatever made that sound is getting closer. Listen!" Said Kestrel. Everyone listened intently. They heard one more screech, but it sounded farther off.
"Oh, thank goodness. I think it's going away." SAid September in relief.
"Yeah, me too. That was too close for comfort." Said HAB. Kestrel smiled as well, but Riddler still looked uneasy.
"Guys, I dont think- LOOK OUT!" Riddler yelled, shoving her friends backwards right as a huge furry form crashed through the corn right were they hadbeen standing not a moment before.  The huge object was unlike anything the group had seen anywhere but in pictures. HTe beast had the immense body and head of a lion, and an over sized tail of a scorpion. The gigantic creature was ot the ordinary lion size. It was at least ten feet tall.
"MANTICORE!" Shouted HAB. "Run!" They took off into the maze again, sticking close together.
"This is soposed to be a HAUNTED maze, not a deadly creature wanting to eat you one!" Yelled September as they ran. She could barely be heard over the screeching of the Manticore close behind them. Alas though, what they didn't know is that they were coming up on a clearing and dead end.
"Oh, no!" Screamed HAB. "Dead end!" The manticore ran up behind them and slowed to a walk. It's body blocked the way back into the maze.
"What do we do?" asked September in a panic.
"I've got an idea, spread out!" Shouted Kestrel. The groupd dispersed and made there way cautously around the maze corners.
"What's your plan?" Shouted HAB.
"On three, we're all going to rush the manticore. That'll catch it off guard, then slide under it's legs! It's tail can't get us, or it's head! Then we can get by!" Kestrel answered.
"Got it!" Shouted September.
"One, two, THREE!" Yelled Kestrel. They all rushed the manticore. The creature lunged forward, teeth flashing, claws out, and tail lashing. The four CBers waited until teh beast was on top of them before they hit the ground and slid right under the creature. They jumoed back on there feet. It ahd worked. The manticore was momentarily confused, which gave the four enough time to get back into the maze. They took off running. They heard a loud roar, but by then, it was too late for the manticore. The four friends were long gone. They finally slowed down and stopped, having lost the monster.
"That-was-EPIC!" Shouted Riddler.
"I know! It worked!" Said September with equal inthusuiasm.
"Wait, guys, were's HAB? I thought she was right here?" Said Kestrel.
"She was- oh no!" Said Riddler in a paniced voice. "You dont think-"
But she never finnished her sentence. The three Cbers heard a final screech from the manticore far away, lastly, the scream of HAB.
R.I.P, HAB. Or is it?
