Chatterbox: Pudding's Place

Warriors RP

Warriors RP

This roleplay is made in reminiscence of a previous Warriors RP, which was right here in Pudding's Place! I rummaged through a bunch of old threads and found it earlier today. I read a lot of it, and judging from my comments I was a total jerk back then XD Enough rambling! Here's the RP.

⬩◈⬩

You are a cat. You live in peace, going about your daily rituals as usual. Life is good. But one day, the earth begins to shake. The ground is torn apart. Trees fall down, their roots loosened by the breaking world. Nowhere is safe for you. When the quake is over, the land that was once your home is nearly unrecognizable. Gaping rifts lace the hills. Debris litters the ground. Gazing around at the wreckage, you wonder if your home, or your life, will ever be the same.

But that's not the worst part. ThunderClan has fallen. With its leader and most of its warriors lost in the earthquake, the survivors scattered in panic. They are now nowhere to be seen.

As you look across the ruined landscape, you wonder: how can the four Clans survive when there are only three?

Btw, are we in the old territory or the new one?

This is gonna be hard to write... Let's get started! I sorda forgot how this works, so I might have to take creative liberty in how starclan looks like.

Nightthorn~

Nightthorn stares into the moonstone, his eyes dark and sad. After a few moments, he lets himself sink into its deeps.

He finds himself in an unknown place, with mist covering the ground and the air foggy and scented. He feels almost weightless, and he relaxes. Suddenly, a cat pushes itself out of the fog and into Nightthorn's view, followed by many others. Nightthorn stared at them all, shocked. There were old leaders, apprentices whose lives were cut short, medicine cats killed protecting others. But one cat caught Nighthorn's eye...

Windfeather.

A guttural cry reached Nightthorn's throat, but nothing came out. She stared back at him, her eyes swirling with intelligence and sorrow. Nightthorn's feet felt stuck to the ground, but he reached for her anyways, his eyes wide with new tears.

Nightthorn finally shook his eyes away from her when a cat came forward. It was Emberstar.

"Emberstar, I'm sorry--" Nightthorn began, but Emberstar ignored him. She touched noses with Nightthorn.

He felt a searing pain, and he gasped. He tried to pull away, but he couldn't.

"With this life, I give you faith. Use it to keep the trust you have in your clan," Emberstar calmly instructed, her voice certain. The pain felt sorrowful, and he saw the blinding light of Emberstar's death.

The next cat to step forward was unknown the Nightthorn. However, has she came closer Nightthorn recognized her as a cat in Riverclan. Daisykit. She was incredibly small, with her eyes filled with a wisdom too old for her age.

"With this life, I give you curiosity. Use it to explore and find the truths of life," Daisykit stared at Nightthorn as he was given this time a feeling of kithood and family.

He was given patience, courage, endurance, hope, and offering second chances. But there was still one last one to go.

Windfeather steadily came forward, lightly smiling at Nightthorn. He blinked back tears.

She touched noses with him. "With this life, I give you Compassion and Happiness. Use it to keep yourself and your clan together." Then she backed away.

Emberstar steps up again. "I hail you by your new name, Nightstar. Your old life is no more. You have now received the nine lives of a leader, and StarClan grants you the guardianship of WindClan. Defend it well; care for young and old; honor your ancestors and the traditions of the warrior code; live each life with pride and dignity."

The cats around Nightstar began calling out his new name. He stood a little taller. Then their voices die out, and he finds himself back in the Mothermouth.

Willowpaw finds herself back in Mothermouth. Her starclan dream was nothing of importance, really. She begins to tell of it anyways, however, Whitepelt shushes her.

They make their way back outside. Willowpaw looks at Nightthorn, now Nightstar. His eyes are filled with sorrow. Willowpaw wants to ask him what he saw, but she remembers that he must not tell anyone about it.

* * *

I really need to write with Willowpaw more. Woo! That was a hard write! I needed to research a bit to figure out what happens in the ceremony, and I got a bit lazy.

Also, I knoooow Windfeather's life gave compassion and happiness, but I researched and that happened with Firestar and a few other leaders. And Nightthorn probably needs both of these.

@Scylla:

Yeah, sorry I haven't been wrting as much. This week has been insane, between finals prep (I get out on the 19th), field trips, and crazy stuff like that. It may be a little more difficult for me to post, starting next week, because I have been posting on a school-issued computer, and we're turning them in next week. But I will still post! There may just be more errors, because I will be using my family's iPad. You can count on me!

@Danie and Random Person:

you guys wanted to ship Nighthorn (now Nightstar) and Whitepelt, but a) I think there's some interesting chemistry between Nightthorn and Dawnblaze, and b) Isn't Whitepelt a medicine cat, and can't medicine cats not have mates? Please correct me if I'm wrong! And, of course, you can certainly still ship Whitethorn. (Whitestar? Nightpelt?)

NEW PART!

~~~
Eaglepaw
I am excitedly waiting. This night is the full moon, and it'll be my first Gathering EVER! I can't wait to see all the leaders, and meet all the other Clans, and... maybe, just maybe... see that mysterious grey cat again. The one who came to help the one who I (I wince guiltily) attacked for prey-stealing. I can't get her out of my head. She mesmerizes me. I know it's strange, but I think I like her because she so easily defeated me. Okay, that does sound weird, but whenever I play-fight or train with the other warriors, they always go easy on me. This cat. however, did no such thing. I think of the way her grey pelt rippled when she threw me aside, how her blue-grey eyes sparkled in the second she spared to look at me...
"EAGLEPAW!" my mentor, Blossomwing, yowls.
I sigh. What have I done now? I'm always doing something wrong, no matter how hard I try. I dash back into camp from my perch beside the river. Blossomwing is waiting for me, a clump of moss in her mouth.
"This moss you put in the elder's den is all wet!" she complains, dropping it at my feet. I nose it. Indeed, it's sopping wet. Strange... I could have sworn I put in dry moss...
I whip around just as my littermates, Ripplepaw and Troutpaw, disappear around a bush. I growl and start to run after them, but Blossomwing gently catches the tip of my tail in her teeth.
"A good warrior stays calm and does not attack needlessly," she reminds me, for what seems like the ten-thousandth time.
"I know," I mewl, "but they just annoy me so much!"
Blossomwing licks the top of my head kindly. "I know they do," she meows back, "but you need to remember they'll grow out of this."
She turns and pads away, brown and gray pelt rippling.
I sigh, but raise my head determindly. I won't let Troutpaw and Ripplepaw ruin my first ever Gathering.
~~~

I think that someone a little more experienced, like one of the leaders or deputies, should write the Gathering scene. I don't know what the leaders are going to say about the recent earthquakes and terror. Plus, of course, Nightstar has to announce Emberstar's death.

Night ~

I sink my teeth into a nice juicy mouse and head toward my den. I moved it slightly closer to Windclan territory in order to catch more prey. There isn't much near the other clan, Thunderclan. I'm about to start eating when a loud yowl interrupts me. "The rogue!" the cat screams at the top of their lungs. "Great, just great," I mutter. I race away and climb into a tree. I notice that one of the branches goes past another three. I bunch up my hind legs and leap. I do this a few more times where I can and finally relax.

Whitepelt ~

The Moonstone meeting was pretty uneventful. I finally curl up in my nest and go to sleep. A dream meets me. A she-cat that I recgonize as Windfeather appears. "Thunder, Shadow, River and Wind must unite or all will be lost," she says mysteriously. I see a flash of the river and cats engaged in a battle. I recgonize none of them. Everything is covered in blood. I wake up with a jolt. "Great Starclan," I mutter. "Thunderclan must be recovered. But how?" I ask myself.

On my school's field, my friend and I are working on a project. We're making a clan that my friend named Cowclan. We'vegot a few members now. They're our friends. Honeystar, Grassheart (deputy), Rosekit, Shadekit, Silverkit (me), and Birdheart (medicine cat). What do you think?

P.S.

The clan name was not my idea.

I’ve had a thought. I feel like the situation with Eaglepaw liking Winnow will take some time to develop, but… There’s Blossomwing. In the charrie sheet, it is mentioned that she is ‘perfect for shipping’. So, maybe there’s, like, a love triangle? Blossomwing would like Eaglepaw (there really isn’t a very large age gap, if you look), but Eaglepaw doesn’t notice because he’s so infatuated with Winnow, and Winnow is just… being Winnow, until she starts to return Eaglepaw’s feelings. This whole time, Blossomwing and Winnow are kind of having this rivalry, sort of, over Eaglepaw, but Winnow doesn’t really know why Blossomwing dislikes her so much. She just knows that she won’t stand for what she believes is unnecessary… I don’t know the right word for it. Rudeness? Hostility? Anyways, let me know what you guys this of the idea.
Winnow~
The moon shines brightly in the sky. Brighter than usual, since it's full tonight. The moor grass ripples like water as the wind whispers over it, escaping into the trees. I keep well hidden from both groups of cats -- ones smelling of heather, and the others smelling of fish and sweet fresh water -- as they merge, on their way to some huge meeting. Over the moons that I have lived here, I've seen these cats on their way to the four huge trees in what I'm assuming is the centre of all the territories. Despite a number of times I've watched, hidden, as the cats stream by, this is the first time I have decided to follow them. This is the first time I've ever even felt curiosity towards the Clans. I curse the paleness of my fur, which causes me to stand out a bit more than I would like, as I slip between the trees, keeping to the shadows. Finally, up ahead I smell the scent of two other groups joining with the scent of the two I’m currently following. My senses become mixed and confused as I try to take in the sounds and smells of what must be a hundred cats all in one place. To avoid being spotted, I climb up a large oak tree in the corner of the clearing with lots of cover. Settling comfortably in the vee of two branches, I peer around the clearing. Almost immediately, my eyes are drawn to the pretty grey-brown she-cat -- Blossomwing -- who invited me to join her Clan a couple of days ago. Not far from her side is the cat she called Eaglepaw. I don’t realise that he’s met my eyes until I blink and see his big blues eyes turned towards me. I flick my ears, then tilt my head in the direction of the woods, deliberately getting up and hopping down a branch. When I see that he’s gotten the message, I glance around to make sure that no one else has spotted me, then I scramble the rest of the way down the tree. I am met with a bundle of blue and grey striped fur, but I don’t say anything until I’ve led him well away from the rest of the group.
“So, you seem to have a keen attention to detail, Eaglepaw “ I drawl, in reference to him spotting me up in the tree.
Eaglepaw ducks his head, seemingly abashed, “Thank you…”
“Winnow,” I supply.
“Winnow,” he repeats, almost wonderingly, “That’s such an interesting name… You must have escaped from a Twoleg.”
I huff of indignance escapes my mouth before I can stop it, “I am no kittypet!” I hiss, offended. “My name is chosen after the movement of the air. When you listen to the wind blowing through the night, you are hearing my namesake,” I inform him, irritatedly.
“Oh,” Eaglepaw says, his voice small, “I- I didn’t know.”
“Hah. Clearly,” I respond.
He falls silent, seemingly staring at something over my shoulder. Or maybe at me. It’s hard to tell, with the distant look in his eyes.
“Information for information, “ I say finally.
“Huh?” Eaglepaw says, blinking.
“Information for information. I’ve told you a piece about myself. Now you tell me something,” I explain, reigning in my impatience.
Before he can respond, a yowl cuts through the trees, calling the meeting to begin.
“I’ve got to go. Um… Will I see you around?” he asks hopefully.
“Doubtful,” I respond, though I’m not sure whether it’s true, then melt back into the underbrush, becoming one with the moonlight and slipping away more smoothly than a shadow.

Whitepelt ~

I sit with Darksnow and Featherpool, exchanging news about the growth of herbs. I jolt up as the leaders leap onto the rock.

Night ~

I smell a large group of cats. Clancats and their gatherings.

~~~
Forgot to mention, Featherpool's a background charrie.
Sounds cool to me (Cowclan), maybe some of the cats are dissatisfied after the Gathering about what their leaders are doing and want to split away? I don't know. And since I have some free time, I'll post another section! This one follows Dawnblaze.
@Kestrel: Yeah, I like the idea! Mei, what do you think?
~~~

Dawnblaze

I look up as Falconclaw (someone I totally made up, but I needed someone vicious and self-assured) runs back into camp, panting and sweating. The cats in the camp all look at him in surprise. Whitepelt is mending Swallowbrook's paw, with Willowpaw looking on. Darkfeather and a few other warriors are lounging by the fresh-kill pile, and the elders are poking their heads out of their den as he rush in.

I pad up to Falconclaw as he skids to a stop. "Can I help you?" I meow calmly.

Falconclaw looks past me distractedly at the leader's den. "I need to talk to Nightstar, now."

I block his path. "Our leader is resting right now. Anything you need to say to him, you can say to me."

Falconclaw bristles. "Just because an old leader said you were the deputy, doesn't mean you are! Nightstar will announce the true deputy at tonight's Gathering." He smugly licks his paw. "I think I have a pretty good chance, me being his nephew and all." (sorry Nightstar, I invented a nephew for you... I didn't want him to be your son, cause I felt like that would be too controlling... I can always make him not-related of you want!)

I bristle at his presumptuous tone. "Emberstar named me deputy!"

Falconclaw scoffs. "Emberstar isn't the leader. She was weak and dying, and obviously made a mistake! No one would ever make you deputy!"

I yowl and throw myself at him. Not even the warrior code can keep me from attacking this high-and-mighty cat.

We're rolling around on the ground now, hissing and spitting. Suddenly, a strong force throws me aside.

"Stop fighting," Nightstar meows commandingly. Falconclaw and I immediately separate, sitting straight and tall in front of Nightstar. I resist the urge to lick my tufted fur down.

Nightstar paces in front of us. "Fighting at the slightest provocation. Not a good quality to have in a deputy."

Falconclaw's face glows, and he shoots a smug look at me. I continue staring straight ahead, but worries battle inside my head.

I'm the deputy!

But you're not! According to the warrior code, only the new leader can choose the deputy!

But Emberstar did anyway!

Nightstar continues. "Still, I suppose there was a good reason. Dawnblaze, my deputy, meet me in my den. We have some important things to discuss." Then he turns and walks away, tail waving.

The smug look on Falconclaw's face evaporates, and his fur loses it's stuck up appearance. I feel a little bad for him. He's a new warrior, and is still trying to find his place in the tribe.

"You can still come and tell Nightstar the news," I offer, trying to be kind.

Falconclaw hesitates, then grudgingly nods. "All right. I will."

He follows me to the leader's den, where Nightstar reclines on soft moss. He flicks his tail at me when I come in. "Welcome, Dawnblaze. We have some very important--" he breaks off when he sees Falconclaw slink in behind me. "I thought I said only Dawnblaze was to come in."

His voice is icy cold, and Falconclaw shrinks under Nightstar's icy gaze. For the second time that day, I find myself feeling sorry for him. I step between Nightstar and Falconclaw. "I asked him to come," I meow. "He needed to tell you something important."

Nightstar levels his gaze at Falconclaw. "Is this so?"

Falconclaw nods. "Yes. Nightstar... I've found the location of that rogue's den! The one who was prey-stealing from RiverClan!"

~~~
Obviously, yes, I invented Falconclaw. But I was thinking that WindClan could send some warriors to attack Moon and Winnow's camp, while the other warriors go to the Gathering. Winnow returns from the Gathering to find Moon badly injured and their camp destroyed. Then they go to RiverClan and ask for shelter, cause Blossomwing offered it to them. I don't know if this will work or is too controlling; Kestrel, Scylla, and everyone else who this affects, let me know. I don't want to be super controlling!!
I apologize for not posting sooner.
Also, I'm fine with Falconclaw being Nightstar's nephew.
I forget how gatherings go, so excuse me if I get anything wrong!
Nightstar~
Nightstar stays blankly at the wall, his eyes clouded over. Despite his best efforts, his thoughts have only been on Windfeather. He knew he must concentrate on being a leader, but sorrow still clouded his mind.
Finally, these thoughts dispersed as he heard cats fighting. Alarmed, Nightstar jumped up and cautiously went out of his den.
It was Dawnblaze and Falconclaw. Nightstar's eyes widen in surprise.
"Stop Fighting!" Nightstar commands, pushing Dawnblaze off of Falconclaw. They separate, still glaring at each other.
"Fighting at the slightest provocation. Not a good quality for a deputy," Nightstar paces, his eyes darting back and forth. Perhaps Emberstar's decision was clouded...
Nightstar shook away the doubtful thoughts. Emberstar wanted Dawnblaze as deputy. He should accept her decision.
"Still, I suppose there was a good reason. Dawnblaze, my deputy, meet me in my den. We have some important things to discuss," Nightstar turned sharply on the ball of his paw and strided back into his den.
He took the moment to further search the den. It still smelled of Emberstar's scent. He still needed to find the cause of her death.
He heard Dawnblaze pad into the den. "Welcome, Dawnblaze. We have some very important--" Nightstar notices Falconclaw and growls. What now? "I thought I said only Dawnblaze was to come in."
Falconclaw shrinks under Nightstar's gaze, but he doesn't bother to notice. "I asked him to come. He needed to tell you something important." Dawnblaze explains.
Nightstar sighs. "Okay, fine. What is it that you care to say?"
Falconclaw straightens. "Yes. Nightstar... I've found the location of that rogue's den! The one who was prey-stealing from RiverClan!"
Nightstar's eyes widen. "Who? Did you get them by name?"
"Yes! We heard them talking with each other. Their names are Moon and Winnow. We have also found their camp."
"Then we need to send a patrol immediately! Dawnblaze, assign cats to the patrol. They will go while the others go to the gathering."
Dawnblaze nods and jumps out of the den followed by Falconclaw. Nightstar paces his den for a moment and then pads out.
* * *
Nightstar looks down at the many cats below him. The gathering is about to start. Jumping off the rocks, he climbs onto his spot as leader. The other leaders look at him in alarm.
"Who is this?" "A New Windclan Leader?" "Is Emberstar dead?" Nightstar looks down at them all, nervously.
"Attention Cats!" Icystar, the shadowclan leader, starts the gathering. "Our clan is thriving as of now. One of our apprentices, Redpaw, has become Redwind!" There is some whispering, which one cat with a flaming red pelt straightening.
"That is all." Icystar looks over to Minnowstar.
"We have had problems with rogues stealing our fish. However, we are still striving and will soon find the culprit." There is more whispering, which Minnowstar does her best to ignore. " One of our kits, Quillkit, has become Quillpaw!"
Minnowstar finishes with a bit more information and then looks over to Nightstar. He breaths in heavily.
"Emberstar, our leader, has been killed. The culprit is a loner, who we will soon catch. I, Nightstar, have taken her place as leader, and Dawnblaze is now my deputy," Nightstar informs, trying to keep his voice steady.
"We have also found the cat who has been taking Riverclan's fish. We are taking care of the problem as of now," Nightstar closes his eyes and tries to ignore the whispers and loud complaints.
"Really, now? Do you expect us to be in your debt now?" Minnowstar's fur pricks. "We can take care of this problem ourselves!"
"We are only doing this because their camp is on our territory. Helping you is only a side effect," Nightstar cooly replies.
The leaders discuss other issues and then end the gathering.
Sorry, this is a bit rushed.
