LUMINANCE!

LUMINANCE!

The Day has come, so here we go!

~~~~
You run to your mailbox. It just let out a strange puff of white smoke. Opening it cautiously, you see a square envelope inside. On the front, in big swirly letters, it says "You're Invited." You take it out carefully and open it. There's a note and another piece of paper inside. The note says:
"Hello. You're invited to come spend the next week at Camp Luminance. Please fill out the form immediately.
Best wishes,
Camp Luminance."
You open the next sheet of paper, which is the form, read it quickly, then race up to your house to find a pen.
i don’t think they’re necessarily being transphobic; i also do not agree with the pronoun policy on this thread but i think we should give them a chance to explain. i’m not sure what the explanation would be but i don’t think we should jump to any conclusions
Other: @Nyxie, I don't mean to contradict or offend, but there are several CBers who have other pronouns besides she/her or he/him. You'd be more inclusive and gather more people if you let the pronouns be whatever the CBer feels they are.
Okay, I have a few questions that are...sort of important, in my opinion, at least. I don't want to put you on the spot here, but is the reason you want us to use she/her or he/him pronouns because you're, um, transphobic, or because it's easier? I can TOTALLY relate if it's because it's easier. Sometimes it's hard keeping track of different pronouns. It might even seem scary, if you're new to the LGBT+ community (or even if you're straight!). You don't have to answer, if you don't want to, but I'm asking because others might think you're transphobic. (Not that I do, yet, anyway. Please don't take this the wrong way!) :>
Name: Parody, or Lynx (may go by Lynx for awhile now!)
Pronouns (he/him or she/her only please): She/her.
Age: 13.
Personality: INFP/INFJ. I'm kind and polite, and I'm quiet too--but if there's something that NEEDS to be said or NEEDS to be talked about, I'll talk about it no problem. I'm not great at making friends, and, let's be honest, I'm kind of awkward and shy at some instances... If I'm drawing something, I make the face of whatever I'm drawing. XD
Appearance (please add your attire): Let's go with a fall outfit! A cute brownish reddish beret, a beige cardigan and a pinstriped dark orange scarf that partially covers my mouth. I'll be wearing a reddish brown skirt that is a few shades brighter than my beret. And I'll have my reddish brown glasses, too, of course, along with my brown boots and long beige stockings. Bodily appearance--shortish light blonde hair and striking grey eyes with long lashes. I'm sort of shortish, sadly, although I have long legs.
What are you packing in?: A brown leather backpack where instead of a zipper, it has a large flap with two buckles dangling down that magnetize to my backpack so that it seals. It has four pockets on each side of it--one large and one small. A front smaller pocket for my phone.
Choose one of these (put an "x" beside your choice): How can I just choose music OR nature? Mm...Let's go with nature, I suppose.
a) build
b) music
c) nature X
What does your dream room look like:
a) like a forest
b) like a beach
c) like a season (if this is your choice, which one?: Autumn, of course!)
Do you want to share a room (this is recommended): Why not?
Special abilities (i.e. plays the violin, extensive knowledge of mushrooms, etc.): Ooh, let's see. I can play piano and sing very well, and I'm pretty good at writing and drawing. Also! I can, uh, whistle through my nose because I possibly have a deviated septum?
Other: Nope :)
Hey Nyxie! You've already had lots of comments about the pronouns thing. You seem like a sweet person, and a great writer, so I'm sure you did not mean any harm by it. You might not feel as though you're leaving people out, but the truth is, making rules against certain pronouns really can hurt people.
I totally understand that pronouns are a newer idea, and that you may feel intimidated by the unfamiliarity of it all. Here's a quick guide to they/them pronouns, which are often used by people who identify as nonbinary:
they/them
I love their new jacket.
They are so kind.
I'm working on my project with, him, her, and them.
There are many other pronouns people choose to use, but she/her, he/him, and they/them are the most well known. Pronouns such as "she/they" or "they/he" usually mean the person is comfortable with you alternating between the two in your writing. Many people are willing to answer questions you may have when using pronouns unfamiliar to you, and it's okay to ask for help!
I hope this was able to help you, and if anyone would like to add something, I'm sure we can all work together so everybody feels comfortable and happy. Please let us all know if you have any questions about using pronouns that are new to you.
Also, this looks interesting! Once we have the confusion cleared up, I think I'll join.
Choose one of these (put an "x" beside your choice):
Hi everyone. I'm sorry about the pronouns thing. Honestly, it's not to be rude or anything, just I'm not very exposed to the they/them and it's very confusing for me and kinda easier, I guess. Again, I'm very sorry, and please don't be upset or anything. Really and truly, I want things to be kept simple. It's mainly to help me not mess anything up and let it work well. Really sorry.
I'm sorry if I'm excluding anyone. *sighs* I not trying to be exclusive at all. If it makes some people feel better, I can allow at few they/them, but I'm not very good in writing like that. It's all very confusing for me, and I'm thankful that Periwinkle explained that, and some of you asked about it, but I just thought it would be easier if it was she/her or he/him only. Really super sorry. :((
Thank you for explaining, Nyxie! I'm really happy we could talk about this instead of there being a conflict. In my experience, there's often more to the story and it's great when we can communicate.
It would be awesome if you could do your best to include people who use they/them pronouns. I want you to know that this is a supportive and loving place, and nobody will be upset with you for trying your best; it's okay to make mistakes sometimes! It's also okay to ask questions. Ask us for help when you need it. Chances are, many of us will be willing to help you.
Would you like me to give you a further explanation about using they/them pronouns in writing? I'm perfectly happy to.
