Chatterbox: In This Month's Issue

I love this

I love this issue!!  Cats are amazing!!!  I'm so glad they got their own issue!!  "The Catnip Mice" was a cute story, especially since I know how much my cat treasures his toys (but he would never be happy with something that doesn't have catnip in it, like balls...).  I loved the story "Moses the Kitten"!!!! :):):)  I already knew it, because I have the James Herriot book for kids, and my mom is completely obsessed with James Herriot's books (we have about every single one!!).  My favorite James Herriot story (besides "Moses the Kitten", of course!!) is either "The Christmas Day Kitten", or that one about the cow who escapes from the butcher, but I can't remember its name.  James Herriot is my favorite author.  I like the crossbird puzzle, too, but I like the one that I got online better (at least the buggies on the page were even funnier...).  :):)  What did everybuggy else think about the November issue??  IT IS MY FAVORITE EVER!!!!

Yes! James Herriot is so, so, so awesome! I also have his book for kids. I love all the stories in it. (I seem to remember one, "Oscar, Cat about Town," being my favorite because we had a cat by that name.) I found "The Catnip Mice" cute and slightly weird. I also liked all the photography winners. You should really do another photo contest soon, Cricket!

I'm so glad that another kid knows who James Herriot is!! I don't really know any kids who do.  :):):):):):)  Oh, I forgot about "Oscar, Cat About Town"!!!  That is probably my second favorite (either that, or the one about the old cow who escaped from the butchers, but I can't remember the name, and I can't remember if it was in the kids book or not....)!!!!  I can't find the book right now, so I'll ask you.  Is "The Christmas Day Kitten" in that book or am I getting it mixed up with something else?  Have you read the stories about the fat, little pomeranian (I think it was in one of the adult books)? It always makes me laugh. :):)  This is sort of in the wrong place, but my cousin had a cat named Oscar! He died, though... :(:(:(:(:(:(  "The Catnip Mice" was sort of wierd, but I liked it because of my cat.:):)  Cricket, you chose such a wonderful theme for this issue!!!!!!!!!!!  I LOVED IT (and of course, still do!!)!!!!!!!

I can't believe it, but I totally forgot about this awesome thread! I feel so bad <:( though I can see why, because I usually hang out on down to earth or chirp at cricket... Anyway, I think both of those stories were in the kids' book, though I can't find it either, I'm just remembering the great pictures, which I know the other books don't have. In the older books, love the fat little pom!! I think his name was Ricky Poo or something hilarious like that. And his owner was always feeding him too much and embarrassing poor James Herriot! Hee hee hee...  And my cat Oscar died, too!:.(  Actually looking at your post I realize that I could have written it! Funny how much we have in common.

I tend to stay at Chirp at Cricket and Down to Earth, too.  Ricky Poo the fat pomeranian!!  So random!!!  Poor, little - er - ginormous Ricky Poo....  Sorry about Oscar...  You're the third person that I've met on this site where we have SO much in common!!  I LOVE this site!!!!!!!!!!!  :):):):) Cool

Hi, everybuggy! [espeicially Pussywillow],

I love this magazine and have just recieved my first Cricket issue. I loved "The Star Shard" and love to read. I love "Treasure Island" and "Madame Curie." I hate what is happening because of Global Warming. I just had to go onto the website to see what happened before in "The Star Shard" and cannot wait for the next issue to find out more about the Harpy.

I LOVE James Herriot!!!!!! I really like "Moses the Kitten"...I also really liked "The Market Square Dog"...it's another story by James Herriot. I actually read the adult books that he wrote...they are good but really like vet-ish :) It sounds strange, but if you read them you'll know what I mean.

Well, thank you, Ladybug!!  Tell Pussywillow that I love her!!!  She is so cute!!  You are so lucky to have such an adorable cat (or pussywillow, I guess...)!! :):):)  You are one of my absolute favorite buggies!!  Smart idea, telling Cricket to dress up as a chicken!!!  You are such a smart buggy!!!  :):):):)

I already entered for this month's art contest!!  I hope that I at least get honorable mention.  I entered a picture that I drew a few months ago; I was waiting for the right contest to send it to!  It is a (surprisingly good, for my skills) picture of a tiger, but I won't say more.  You'll have to wait to see it, and I don't want anybuggy to steal my idea! :):) I may enter again, just so I can put a picture of Pussywillow in!!! :):):):)

I also love James Herriot! I have the children's treasury, just like you. A few months ago I read all of the original books from our library. Um, Paige, weird question, I know, but what curriculum do you use? I have the James Herriot Treasury for Children because it came with our curriculum one year. I do Sonlight! :)(:

What???? ARE YOU SERIOUS, YOU USE SONLIGHT????  I DO TOO!!!!!!!  You just made my day!!!  What grade are you in????  I don't know exactly which year I'm doing.  We changed it around a little.  We've read Mara, and The Hittite Warrior, and a bunch of other books.  Have you done this year, yet??  What are you using for science?  I don't remember if it came with the curriculum, but I use Apologia.  It is SO boring!  Highlight.  Read.  Highlight.  Read.  Answer question.  Read.  Highlight.  Do simple experiment.  Highlight.  Read.  Take impossible test that has nothing to do with what I read and highlighted.  Highlight.  Read.  Etc.  I never used that James Herriot book in school.  Just for fun!!  I'm so happy!!!!!!!

YOU JUST MADE MY DAY, TOO! I'M THRILLED! I'm not sure exactly which year I'm doing, but I think maybe it's year 5? I don't know, it's the one with Eastern Hemisphere Explorer and all the World Book stuff. We kind of skipped around a little, too. For science I do Apologia General Science. Which math program do you do?

I've done Eastern Hemisphere Explorer, too!  I found the World Book part EXTREMELY boring after about a month.  If you don't think it's boring yet, it will get there.....   Do you like those projects that you get to do after each country?  I always liked those!!  For the Pacific Islands, I designed an island resort, since I want to be an architect when I'm older.  We've skipped around, too.  I use Math-U-See (I met Mr. Demme!!!). What do you use?
