Hi Amethyst!

*looks at forms*

Oh, we're both scared of spiders apparently! The big ones frighten me the most. There's just something about them that is really creepy crawly...for some reason I like other insects but not spiders.

And we both like the Chronicles of Narnia and Wonder! Those are all very, very good books. Which is your favorite book in the Narnia series? Mine is the Horse and His Boy. The interesting thing is when I first read Wonder, I didn't like it, but when I read it the second time, I loved it.

What kind of poetry do you like to write? I like to write rhyming poems with rhyme scheme, meter, and consistent syllable length.

Aw, don't worry, if you're busy I can wait :) School (and, of course, Christmas) do tend to take up an inordinate amount of time.

Lol, my last post was from Thanksgiving. Now it's Christmas all of the sudden? No idea where the time went.

Well anyway, I'm on winter break, which means that I'm not longer an a hiatus and I can be on Chatterbox a lot more! I missed you too :(

Maybe the Shadow Wolves and the Shadow Eagles could be linked through telepathy (reading minds?) I'm not sure how that would work since they're completely different species, but there's got to be some magical explanation...

This is a cute ghost I drew (which is exciting for me because I don't do digital art very often) that I already posted on the ART POSTING thread. Come to think of it, it's Halloween themed, not Christmas themed, lol.

Ooh, I think for Thanksgiving we had fruit salad and some sort of pie...can't remember what kind..for desert. I heard of a debate going on (I can't remember where exactly) about which pie is better: pumpkin or apple pie? Personally, I like apple pie because I like fruit, and besides, you can eat it with ice cream. And also, sometimes pumpkin pie is a little too sweet for me. I like dried cranberries, too! And also raisins, except that raisins are a little stickier. I think both can be in trail mixes. Thank you, I did enjoy my Thanksgiving! :D

And since that was a month ago, Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays! :D My family and extended family are doing a Secret Santa gift exchange tonight. Are you going to do anything special?

Don't worry about not updating your Lost Gold solo write! I think I'm in the same situation with my ski lodge, especially because I was trying to write a scavenger hunt and it ended up being more tricky than I thought :/

I know, time goes so quickly... I feel like it was just barely last year, and now suddenly it's almost next year.

Ooh, I like the idea of telepathy! That would pose an additional problem for the other wolves and eagles - maybe eventually they could discover that the Shadow Wolves/Eagles are able to do that, and discover how so that they can too. For a magical explanation, possibly there's a language they both speak, so they communicate telepathically through that? I also feel as if we should have a name for all wolves and eagles who aren't Shadow - something like Gold/Sunrise/Jewel Wolves and Eagles. Eventually we should probably just start the RP, but I'm having so much fun planning it...

Pie is necessary for Thanksgiving :) I love apple pie and pumpkin pie both - I'm not certain that I have a favorite. Pumpkin pie does depend on how it's made, but when it tastes nice I like it. Apple pie is utterly classic, though. Haha yes it does have the advantage of being able to be paired with ice cream ;> Yeah, raisins are nice, but in general I prefer (dried) cranberries. Hooray for trail mixes :D Dried cranberries and raisins certainly belong in those. I'm glad you enjoyed your Thanksgiving.

Thanks! A Secret Santa gift exchange sounds like fun, though I've never tried one. We spoke to our grandparents who live in Mexico virtually, which was wonderful because it had been a while since we did that, and opened some of our presents. Some of them are actually still left, as we're going to open them with our other grandparents today :) And we had turkey for lunch, since we rarely have it for Thanksgiving, which was lovely.

Oh dear, good luck with your scavenger hunt! I'm still interested in your ski lodge, if you pick it up again.

Yess I saw your ghost on the Art Posting, though *shock* I suppose I never commented there in the end. It's soooo cute <3333 I don't know how a ghost can look that adorable, but somehow this one does :) And I love the borders too - they look so mystic.

I'm running out of Narnia locations lol... I'd better go on on another spree of looking for names. It's great to see you around again!

*nods in agreement* Yes, I feel like 2023 was so short, but when I try to remember what happened exactly last year, I can't. And so the past year feels very long and very short, at the same time. No idea if that makes any sense...

Initially, I was thinking that each wolf (not just Shadow Wolves) had a telepathic connection with an eagle, but your idea that only the Shadow Wolves and Shadow Eagles know how to communicate telepathically is good because it gives the Shadow Wolves a secret advantage over the other wolves. Yes, the other wolves should have names!!! I like the names you suggested, or we could try creating names that match the wolves'/eagle's climate (earlier we were talking about Forest and Ice Wolves). Lol, me too...It is good to plan things ahead of time though :) We might be able to create the RP under pen names, because as far as I know, no CBers come onto this thread, so no one knows we're planning an RP.

That's a good idea to open presents with your grandparents!!! My family has filmed opening them in the past, and on Sunday we video-called my grandma and uncle to thank them for our gifts, but we have never video-called while opening them. What presents did you give and/or get for Christmas? I don't have turkey very often either. I can't even remember what it tastes like half the time XD

Thank you!! :D I finished the first part of the scavenger hunt, but the rest of it was going to make Day 1, part 2 a little too long, so I moved it to part 3, and am now stuck on it again :( Currently I'm writing the part after the scavenger hunt, just so I can at least work on the ski lodge, if not the hunt itself, before school starts again (on Tuesday) and I have no time to write...When do you start school? (if you haven't started yet...?)

Thank you!!!! I have a weakness for cute, smiling ghosts, and get really excited whenever I see them (in stores usually). Someday, I plan to draw a lot of tiny ones and hang them from the ceiling inside the house, for dangerously adorable Halloween decorations :P I used a special paintbrush in an iPad app called Procreate to create the borders, then used a tool called liquify to swirl the mist into the background.

I'm running out of Narnia locations as well, even though I'm keeping the VotDT in my room to reference (that's where I got my current location). It's wonderful to see you too, and to be back on the CB in general! :D

It certainly makes sense... I agree, there are things that seem so far away, and there are things that seem so recent.

Yes, names linked to their climates would be good! That would require thought. And maybe they could have names instead of Forest and Ice Wolves/Eagles - for example, the "official" name of the Forest Wolves could be something like the Fern Wolves, and the Ice Wolves could have some name like Crystal Wolves (because ice is like crystal...?) Perhaps there could be one name for all of the good Eagles/Wolves together, and then those names for the two different groups of good Eagles/Wolves. Pen names yesss that would be fun :D Maybe some CBers are reading, though - sometimes I dip into other MaF threads without commenting... If no one's reading ours, I'd love to use pen names.

I gave my mom a quote calendar that I made with my sister :) And I gave my dad a bird calendar, and I got a calendar, so it was a very calendar-oriented Christmas ;) I also got a couple of CDs that I'd been wanting for a while, and two necklaces that I am now extremely attached to (one from each of my grandmothers lol). Oh, and my sister and I got the Rivals for Catan card game, which looks very very fun - I think you said somewhere that you and Rora also play Catan? It's such a good game :D What did you give/get?

XD Turkey does have a taste that's hard to remember~

Oh dear, it's so aggravating to get stuck on a story. I was coming along fairly well with my Guardians solo write, but then I was writing out the next part on the computer, and (predictably?) lost it all. I've resolved to write the next part on paper :| When I get around to writing it - I am, again, writing far too many things at once, but I should get back to my solo writes in a few days, or that's what I'm hoping. I started school last Wednesday, but I did have a week and a few days of vacation from Christmas onwards, which I made the most of :)) Good luck with starting school!

Awww yes dangerously adorable Halloween decorations should be obligatory! There's something so irrisistible about a cute, smiling ghost *melts in cuteness*

The Silver Sea is also from the VotDT - I actually have all the CoN in my room, but I'm still constantly left without locations lol. It's wonderful to see you too :D

I like the name Fern Wolves a lot! Maybe we could say that they are named that because they eat ferns (like you suggested a while back) or use them to camoflauge their dens (to protect animals from getting at their young ones are something like that, but that would mean that there are carnivorous animals in the world, and there is a predator that eats wolves, which doesn't make much sense...oh dear...so maybe the ferns are just for decoration?) As for the Ice Wolves, I looked through a DK Eyewitness book my family owns on minerals, since I have used the name crystal several times already and wanted to find other words to say it. I found two crytals that intrigued me, that I did some research on: Halite (which is the mineral form of salt, naturally arranged in cube shapes, is created when ocean water evaporates, and is seriously so pretty) and calcite. Those are just my preferences. We can still call them Crystal Wolves if you want :) Ooh, maybe we could each make a charrie/OC, and use that as our pen names? Oh dear...well, if any other CBers are reading this thread, they haven't said anything about it or acknowledged that they are reading it. There isn't really a way to know, unfortunately, so maybe we can go under pen names just because it's fun :)

You made a quote calendar? That is a really creative idea! I'm guessing that it was a blank calendar that you and Poinsettia decorated and added quotes to? Yes, we really like playing Catan, although we haven't played very recently for a lack of time :) I have played Settlers, Seafarers, and Rivals of Catan. For Christmas, I gave a Joann's gift card to my cousin, Nano blocks and candy to my dad, and an adorable butterfly ring to Rora. For my entire family, I wrote, designed, and photographed a choose-your-own-adventure, that we all played on Christmas morning :D I received four stuffed animals (three of which were a surprise because I didn't intentionally ask for stuffed animals lol), a packet of hot chocolate, a ring with leaves on it, a papercraft of Howl's Moving Castle (for Rora, my dad, and I to build) and a catbus model kit (Both are from Studio Ghibli movies. Have you heard of them?), a bookmark, and magnetic bookmarks.

Oh no, you lost the entire next part?! I hope you can remember what you wrote, once you write it again. I have lost a story before in the past, and now I can't remember what it was about, at all :( Yes, it's a good idea to write on paper. I wrote most of this post on paper, at school when everyone was studying for something I already had studied for extensively.

The funny thing about my room is that I have LOTS of books, but they're almost all schoolbooks. I've kept almost everything since kindergarten, just to look back and see what I was learning, what 5 year old to last year's grade me was like and read fiction pieces I have no recollection of writing XD. All the children's chapter books/novels (including the CoN) are stored in a little family library (five shelves) that I alphabetized by author's last name. I love alphabetizing all the books in my house, so maybe I will be a librarian someday. And that brings up the (very complicated, at least for me) question of careers. What career would you like to have?

Yes, eating ferns could be a reason for calling them the Fern Wolves... as for having ferns across the mouths of their dens, that would be a good idea! Maybe it could be because there used to be predators that would attack wolf pups, but though that stopped, the ferns have become a habit and the wolves still do it. Or it could be just for decoration :) Ooh, those two are pretty - maybe they could be the Halite Wolves? Oh gosh that sounds so nice :D Fern Wolves and Halite Wolves should be good, then? Yes, our pen names could be charries... and definitely it would be fun, so I suppose we can just do it anyway. We should probably be thinking about the charrie form, too - what should we include? Yoo hoo are you reading this thread and are you not Lyric?? Just in case :>

Thanks! It's only a calender in a broad sense - we wrote a quote on a piece of paper for each month, and illustrated it. I've played Settlers and Seafarers too, and Traders & Barbarians, which is also fun. All those sound like lovely presents to give/receive! Four stuffed animals oh fluff! No, I've never watched the Studio Ghibli movies, though I think I've heard a couple of CBers mention them. What are they about?

I can more or less remember what I wrote, but it's proving to be difficult to actually find the inspiration to rewrite it. Oh dear, that sounds dreadful :( *sends virtual inspiration and rememberance* I've written a few comments on paper, though this one I'm just writing here on the CB (and hoping that I don't lose it all - hehe).

I have some of my schoolbooks from all my years at school in my room too :) Lol, one does forget what one wrote... I'm not so interested in alphabetizing books myself, but for some reason I love the idea of having files, and putting everything away in its proper place. Being a librarian would be nice, I agree. It's a complicated question for me too; there are so many things that I would like to do, but I don't know if I'd be good at all of them or if I really want to spend my whole life on them. Being a writer, of course, is something I'm fairly decided on, but I'm not planning to just be a writer: they don't get paid very much, it's unpredictable, and all that. I love thinking up dances to music, so maybe a dance choreographer, but I don't think they get paid very much either :/ Or something to do with nature, or with traveling, because I love to see new places. It's very difficult to choose one thing... What about you?

Yayyy perfect solution to the predators-eating-wolves problem! :) It seems like all three wolf packs have potential to be good at camoflauging--or types of wolves, if there were several smaller packs within each type, but that might be too complicated...Also, can we finalize the magical abilities for each type/pack of wolf? I think we were talking about how the Shadow Wolves could disappear into shadows (and maybe the Shadow Eagles can as well), the Halite Wolves creating snowstorms/snow/ice, and how some wolves (can't remember which) could see into the future. Another also, for the foxes we thought of earlier, maybe we could have arctic foxes who live alongside the Halite Wolves, and red foxes who live alongside the Fern Wolves? I can't think of what their role in the story would be though, besides helping the wolves. And perhaps the Shadow Wolves and Shadow Eagles could live in the mountains nearby the other two packs, where there are a lot of shadows and it's very desolate? I think the Shadow Wolves/Eagles (and maybe/Foxes as well?) can keep their current name unless we can think of a better one.

I think maybe another list of all our ideas would be helpful at this point XD I think I might compile all our ideas in my next comment or so, in an organized fashion, since we're so close to starting the RP! :D

And then for the charrie form...I think maybe we could include the basics (name, pronouns, animal, pack, etc.), as well as backstory, fears/insecurities, nature (with assertive, aggressive, passive, and passive-aggressive in parentheses). Hello, if you see this comment or Amethyst's comment and aren't either of us or the admins, would you mind commenting and letting us know?

Studio Ghibli moves are almost all fantasy-themed, and most of them are quite kid-friendly (there is one that I didn't dare to watch that is extremely violent and bloody, as one of the exceptions; I do not recommend watching that one). They're Japanese anime with very beautiful animation, music, and storytelling, but there are English translations of them. A few of them are based off of books, and actually remained mostly true to the book, which is nice :D

Oh yes, I also love files and putting things away! It makes me so happy for some reason :) Same, there are extremely interesting careers out there, but I don't know if I have the skills/traits/capacity to do them. Mm, yes, writing is unfortunately not a very high-paying job. I'd probably keep it as a side-job, or find a career that involved writing to some extent (like an ELA teacher, maybe?) Perhaps since you like nature, you could be a national park ranger, or a zoologist, or a trail guide? I haven't researched those, so I don't know what they're like or what education they might require, but I think they're all nature-based? I can't think of a traveling-based job, except a writer who travels around the world and writes about what they see, perhaps. I'm having difficulty with choosing careers, because half of me wants to choose a literary/word related career, and half of me wants to choose a science career. For example, I think I'd like being a teacher, but then I would probably need to choose a subject to teach, and I'm torn between ELA and Science, because I really love books and writing--but in school I'm liking my biology class better than my ELA class, and am also pressured to choose a science career for various reasons :/ Do you have a favorite/preferred school subject(s)?

Yes, probably Shadow Wolves/Eagles/etc. should be able to disappear into shadows, as well as communicate telepathically, though the other wolves will eventually learn to do that too. They should probably have some other powers, or the Halite and Fern Wolves would be more than capable of dealing with them - maybe they could have the same powers as the other wolves, but more moderated. The Halite Wolves should probably be able to summon snowstorms/other winter-related things like we had said, and the Fern Wolves could have forest-related powers like making trees and other foliage grow. Maybe they should be the ones to see into the future? They don't seem to have many other powers :/ Also, it might be a good idea for any allies of the Wolves (primarily the Eagles) to share their powers; it would make things simpler, though I'm not entirely sure it would work. I was also thinking that they could all have some basic powers, like being able to be invisible for short periods of time, moving quickly from one place to another, etc.

Ooh, I love the idea of foxes :D Perhaps they could be not allied with the Wolves as a whole, but there could be some foxes who join their forces to act as spies/any other useful things. Yes, probably the Shadow Wolves/Eagles/Foxes can keep their name; though ooh, I just thought, maybe once the action takes off the Halite/Fern/Shadow animals could be known as Alliances? Like the Halite Alliance, the Shadow Alliance, and so on? It would save them from having to be called Wolves/Eagles/Foxes each time. Just a thought, though :]

Since my last post I've been brainstorming ideas, and I came up with several (yess, we need another list...) I like your ideas for the charrie form; probably name, age, pronouns, background, pack, fears/insecurities (I like that one :) ), and nature... I was thinking also appearance, and possibly shipping. Then it might be good to have a simpler form in case anyone wanted to make specific eagle or fox charries, with name/age/pronouns/kind of eagle or fox.

Also, I was thinking how the packs should be organized and ruled; the simplest thing might be for the Fern Wolves and the Halite Wolves to each have one leader, one of which you play and the other of which I play. That way we don't have to worry too much about the social structure, and through them we can more or less control the plot. The Shadow Wolves might be more loosely organized, but they could also have one leader if you think it would be better :) I love the idea of mountains - though I think originally we were saying that they would start out among the other wolves, plotting to overthrow them from within? Maybe they could go to the mountains after their plot is discovered, or they can just be there from the first place :) We need to figure out the plot points a bit more...

Studio Ghibli movies sound nice! I should probably try them out :> Yayy finally movies that stick to the original book!

Those sound like interesting jobs; I think they are all nature-based or at least nature-oriented. Yeah, something to do with ELA is definitely appealing. Oh dear, being pressured to choose a science career? That sounds difficult - hope you can work it out <3 In school, I like ELA and history, though sometimes math can actually be rather... fun? I'll never choose a career in math unless I have to, but some things about it are interesting.

I should probably go on to some other topic, but this comment is already much longer than I intended it to be (I must still be in MCU mode) - hope it wasn't too long :)
