AlaskaI am a new CBer and I was wondering why people ask Admins about Blue Moon ice cream? Is it a reference to a past issue of Cricket or what?

PhoebeSRParticipant10
Sonoma, CAIt's something about this–
One of the older admins told a story about Blue Moon ice cream a while back and it became something of a meme: http://www.cricketmagkids.com/chatterbox/downtoearth/node/441247.
(From Admin Questions Thread, This Month, Chatterbox)
Also @Kitten–great idea! I'm relatively new here, so a guide to the Very Complicated Secret Language of Chatterbox is a great to have around
Yes, I'm that Admin. I think that was in 2015 or 2016 when Blue Moon ice cream caused me to break my wrist. I've had no mishaps since then and I've switched to different flavors. Thank you, PhoebeSR, for providing the link to the full story.

bi the way—The MCU—
(because many new CBers may be confused about this topic, as I was when I first joined, and I don't believe anyone has made this addition to the Ultimate Guide)
"MCU" stands for Monthly Check-Up, and this essentially is a post made on at the beginning of every month, filled with important dates, quotes, AE shenanigans, and more. It's pretty much the only thing on This Month, aside from the CB Censuses and occasional HHG (Holiday Hunger Games).
>>Sections<<
Some common sections of the MCU~
Important Dates: Pretty self-explanitory, this is a list of holidays, national & internation days, and observances. CBers may also submit their own, for example, birthdays, CBversaries, holidays, or other days special to them. For example, National Burrito Day, Human Rights Day, New Year's Eve
Advice Column: Every month, the host asks for advice about a specific topic/problem, and CBers will respond with their advice. This will be featured in the next MCU. For example, Telling Your Crush You Like Them, What is a good way to be kind to people at school?
Last Month We Asked You (often abbreviated to LMWAY): Every month, the host will ask a fun question, typically relating to the upcoming month. CBers will respond to the MCU with their answers that will be featured in the next MCU. For example, What is the most ridiculous thing you could think of to be colored rainbow?, How do you celebrate your birthday in quarantine?
Location of the Month (often abbreviated to LotM): A contest held every month where CBers will think of a location that relates to the upcoming month. The host will choose the winner, and that will be put in the location box of the MCU post that month. (because of this, it's typically best for the location to be under 25 characters, and if the winning one doesn't fit, it probably just won't be put in the location box). For example, Frolicking in a field of flowers, 2021! We made it!, Dancing in the Rain
Jokes Column: The month before, CBers will often send in jokes to be featured in the next MCU. These are often related to the month, but not always. (of course, these jokes should be appropriate for the CB – dad jokes and puns are the most common) For example, Can February March? No, but April May.
Those are the most common, but others have been added as the MCUs evolve. Book of the Month, Culture Section, Random Facts, and Quotes (Book Quotes, Funny CB Quotes, and Inspirational Quotes) have all been included at one point or another.
>>History<<
Once for chatting about the latest issue of the Cricket Magazine, Ella Starburst revolutionized the dying This Month section in February 2019 with the first edition of the MCU under the name Floof Industries. Over time, the Ella's MCUs morphed to into soap-opera-like segments filled with AE drama, along with the sections it had always included.
In March of 2018, however, Ella announced that Floof Industries would be leaving the CB, and would no longer produce the MCUs CBers had come to love so dearly. They explained how the MCU had become a burden, and they would be discontinuing it.
The CBers decided to continue Ella's legacy and make their own versions of the MCU – first by a group of CBers known as "The MCU Team". However, they only posted a couple months worth of MCUs before lack of responses, as well as numerous other factors, caused them to stop.
That, though, was not the end of the MCU. Months later, two new MCUs emerged. Periwinkle suggested reviving the MCU, much to other CBer's excitement and enthusiasm, and Writing_in_the_Dark explained xe was already planning on doing an MCU. Luckily, both were willing to collaborate, and alternate the months they would host.
Currently, Writing as the Doodle Society and a whole crew of helpful CBers as Elsewhere, Inc. are alternating doing the MCU bi-monthly, and it's working pretty smoothy. The MCU is without a doubt a treasured Chatterbox tradition, and I'm excited to see how it will continue to evolve.

PoinsettiaParticipantTop! This has so much useful information!
This may have been mentioned before, but I'm not sure – when a thread is commented on for the first time and disappears into the back pages, you need to click the "submitted by" button just above the list of threads on the first page, which will organize the threads by date. If you click again, the threads will be organized with most recently created ones first, and the sought-for thread will be there.

Outskirts of the GalaxyYes! This is an easy way to locate threads that have been "bottomed" (ie. sent to the back as a result of the first comment). However, it's worth adding that for some reason on BaB, you only need to click the "submitted by" button once, not twice, to find the most recent thread. I don't know why this is, just that it is 😛

topping with a questionDoes anyone know how to put scrollover text on images? I was looking through some of the first pages of the Art Posting thread and I never knew you could do that.

Outskirts of the Galaxy@Wolfy, here you go~
Scrollover Text
Scrollover text can be read by hovering your mouse over an image (or holding down on an image if you're on a touch screen). Here's how to put scrollover text on images:
Step 1: When you go to submit a comment, scroll down to the My Art feature. Select "Choose File" and insert an image.
Step 2: Click the "Upload" button.
Step 3: A text field will come up where you have the option to write the title of your image. Of course, you can write whatever you want there. This will be displayed in the scrollover text.
Alternatively, you can skip clicking "Upload" and submit the comment using the incorrect CAPTCHA. This will bring you automatically to step 3.
Scrollover text, like I said before, can be read by hovering your pointer over the image (or holding down if you're on a touch screen).
Example of scrollover text below~
