SybillParticipantHe/himHey everyone! It feels kinda surreal to be back. I see some familiar faces which is nice. I was on the CB from… about 2017/18 to 2021, I *think*. I'm honestly not totally sure; I might go check that later and come back with a more accurate timespan. I've decided to pursue clinical psychology as a career, though I imagine that I'll always write and pursue art as a hobby. I've also been listening to a lot of good music lately. Been really into Sparks, Franz Ferdinand, Talking Heads, Diablo Swing Orchestra, and Therion. So a weird mix of things, but I have been getting more into metal music lately. I've also been playing a lot of videogames lately, lol. Working on finishing Faith and Pathologic 2 at the moment. I've also been taking a sociology course that's been really fun so far; so have my psych courses.
Anyway, it's really great to be here today! I haven't been on the CB in years, so it's nice to see it again. I hope everyone's doing well. I might come back to add more when I have some time.
It's great to hear from you, Sybill! Welcome back. – Admin

she/her, sunny side upSYBILL HELLO IT'S SO GOOD TO SEE YOU AHH
i know we didn't talk an extremely large amount but you were definitely one of my CB role models. how are you??
-
SybillParticipantHe/himHey there! Aw, that's really nice to hear, haha. I'm also aware we didn't talk like, super often, but I always really appreciated everything you said! Honestly, I also always looked up to you. You had (and I'm sure still have) such a sweet and caring way of approaching situations and people.
I've been doing pretty good! Definitely much happier now. I had a weird like, crisis of faith, but I think I'm pretty satisfied with where I've ended up with my personal beliefs and my own sense of self. I hope you're doing well yourself!
-
LuminescenceParticipantfourteen
she/her, sunny side upahh thank you?? I'm glad to hear that you're doing well 🙂 I'm pretty good as well!

AzaleaParticipant16
the CB :DHey, good to see you- I love the Talking Heads! My mom showed me their Little Creatures album last summer on a road trip; it was her favorite album when she was my age. I'll have to listen to the others. I'm envious that you have an actual career plan; psychology is so cool but… I can't science, lol.
-
SybillParticipantHe/himTalking Heads is great. Right now I'm really vibing with their songs "I Zimbra" and "Road to Nowhere." Not having an exact career plan figured out is okay! You've got time and most people's career paths aren't straightforward anyway.

Outskirts of the GalaxySybill! Hi!
Like Lumi, I feel like we've never really spoken, but I definitely looked up to you. It's great to see you again! I've always been interested in psychology and sociology, and I hope to take some courses in high school. Anything I should know beforehand? Anyway, again, it's so good to see you 🙂
-
SybillParticipantHe/himHey pangolin! Great to see you too!! If there's anything I would suggest–and this is true in all aspects of life, tbh–keep an open mind. Sociology is all about how people are connected… so don't try to separate yourself from other people so much! No matter what you're going through or how you feel about things, I can guarantee there is another person out there who feels exactly the same as you. You're never alone! More practically, hone your observation skills. Notice all the little things that people do, whether it be something as miniscule as how often they use "like" when they're talking or something more noticeable like how they dress and what gender they are. Also, take copious notes. Sticky notes are awesome. And by "copious", I mean write down a lot of shorthand, quick little things, just to jog your memory. You could also research some past psychologists and sociologists! I just did research projects on Lev Vygotsky and Harriet Martineau, both of whom are really cool and fascinating people.

pangolinParticipantshe | they
Outskirts of the GalaxyThank you so much, this is really helpful!

MoonlightParticipantHey Sybill! I'm not sure if you remember me but I did my first rp with you on Kyngdom. I'm not sure if you ever realized that but it was an amazing introduction into the CB and everything as a whole and I am so grateful that you took a chance on a random post. I loved writing with you and I always looked up to you and took inspiration from you for my own writing.
Clinical psychology is super cool! It's one of the things I'm looking into studying in the future (I'm not at college yet!) along with chemistry and fun sciency stuff.
I'm happy to see you doing well though. I hope life goes well for you in the future!
-
SybillParticipantHe/himHi Moonlight! I definitely remember you and our first Kyngdom roleplay together. Honestly, I might go back and draw some of those characters because they still mean a lot to me. I hope every is well for you! It's really nice to hear from you again.
-
-
HexParticipantI think I joined after you left, Sybill, but I can remember seeing you in the mag or around Kyngdom. You're the person I associate Kyngdom with, as like one of those crazy old and important CBers. idk if this is just me, but hi and it's so cool to actually read you instead of just seeing what you wrote years and years ago!
-
SybillParticipantHe/himAww, that's very kind of you! I wasn't active on Kyngdom during its conception, but it was very important to me and I was on it for many, many years. So it's very much an honor to me to be associated so closely with it.

ZealatomParticipant18
Can't recall what I usedHey there CB!
Gosh, its been so long since I came on here… How has everything been going? I wasn't very active anyway, when I stuck around here around… maybe 2019? I forgot. School really weighed me down, and I didn't have time to make a ski lodge, take part in a RP, or anything really. I mostly messed around and stayed to read everyone else's posts. Nowadays I'm juggling classes in school with playing tennis, learning arabic, writing music and finishing chores at home. Its tiring, to say the least.
I did take part in some ski lodges though. In the first weeks I was active, there was a outburst of them. I'm glad to see the same event taking place once more in Pudding's Place, like, there are 6 or 7 of those running now, that's insane.
I hosted some hay fights, I recall that. It did start to die out later though, has there been one lately?
There is a Catch The Cookie in Inkwell however, I'm glad to see that, I made one before. (One of the only threads I made, accompanied by Corrupt a Wish.)
Aaand Last To Post is still up, along with the Poetry thread and Art Posting, along with Ultimate Picturings, that's always nice to see, despite me not being able to draw to save my life.
There are also old faces! Or, famillar faces at least. Silver Crystal, Jaybells, Emekittycon Kitten, Pangolin… I still remember these names. I wonder who might remember me. Maybe Admins? I dunno?
Whatever. Happy valentine's day everyone! I think I'll stick around for a few days before to-do-lists finally catch up with me. Heh.
Thanks for listening to my long rant about unimportant things.
(That wasn't the note I wanted this to end on, but its the best I can manage.)
Glad you're doing well, Zealatom. – Admin

Silver CrystalParticipantInfinity
Milky WayZealatom!!! Ofc I remember you! You were one of the main characters in my very first ski lodge way back around two years ago. It's great to see you again!
-
pangolinParticipantshe | they
Outskirts of the GalaxyZEALATOM! Hi! I remember you! Like you said, ski lodges, the Last to Post thread, and the Catch the Cookies are still going strong, although we haven't had a hay fight in a while. It's so good to hear from you! Tennis sounds really fun — I haven't played much, but I want to — and so does learning Arabic! I've always wanted to learn a new language, but don't have the motivation :/ Oh, and writing music is pretty fun too! I'm not great at writing music, but I have experimented a little, and it's really fun! It's great to see you again, and I wish you luck with balancing your classes and activities.
-
Reuby MoonnightParticipant*whispers* I wanna say Hi to someone…but I'm so neeew.OHO
-
-
PoinsettiaParticipantplease someone tell me what a hay fight is~ Oh, and learning Arabic sounds amazing!
-
Zealatom@PoinsettiaParticipant18
Can't recall what I usedHay fights!!!! How can people not know about them?
Possibly because it completely died over the course of about 3 months?
Shut up Terracotta.
Anyways, hay fights are like that ultimate pie thread I spy fluttering at the bottom of Down To Earth. Just plain throwing hay at each other, along with an assortment of ah… spears, bullets, icebergs and whatnot. It used to be SUPER popular when Neko and Agent Winter were there to push them along.
The first was created by Gracia, I recall. She was the origanal Haymaster, as the title goes. It had a period of glorifacation, but later died way too fast. There were some tries to revive some, but they all failed.
But I shall host a new one! How can the CB forget the nonsensical, ridiculous hay fights? I shall start one at Pudding's place right now!
#Revive hay fighting!!!!
Here is hay fighting's climax in all its utter, ridiculous glory. I don't regret spending half an hour for finding this link at all.

DragonriderParticipant18
Hey everyone! I'm Dragonrider (she/her). I was here from 2015-2018ish.
I'm writing this from my college dining hall, which is crazy because I remember posting from my elementary school computer lab! I'm so glad the CB is still going strong and still looks the same as it did when I was here. And I'm glad the Valentine's Day reunion has kept going! (If you can't tell, I'm a very nostalgic person)
I'm a freshman in college now and I really love it here. I found the right school for me and I'm so happy about that. I'm planning to major in Spanish and minor in elementary education so I can be a teacher after I graduate. It's all I've wanted to do since I was little, and it's so exciting that I can actually work towards that goal now!
I kind of want to go looking for some of my old posts, but I don't want to embarrass myself too much…
Welcome back, Dragonrider. – Admin

AzaleaParticipant16
Hello, lizards! Like Lumi, I'm not sure if I'm a Certified Old CBer(TM) yet, as I've really been ghosting around for the past year or so… But I'll introduce myself just in case.
I'm Azalea, aka Aza (she/her) and I was most active from early 2020 through sometime in 2021? 22? I'm in tenth grade and I go to an arts school where I'm currently in a visual art and comic books class (I'm making my own comic & am 4 pages in!) I still write, mostly poetry, and I absolutely have the CB to thank for inspiring me to put pen to paper. And I finally have friends irl who understand me the way I thought only only people on here could. But still, this little corner of the internet is so important.
Thank you periwinkle for making this thread, and I'm so excited to read everyone else around!

I remember a couple weeks ago, walking my dog, I thought Dang, that Lumi is going to do something great in life. I hope she's doing well. And now you're here! I just went back and read some of your poetry, too, and it's amazing.

SybillParticipantHe/himHey Aza! Going to an arts school sounds like so much fun, haha. Good friends are such a blessing. I'm thankful to know you and so many other wonderful CBers. Also, making your own comic is so cool!

he/himhi hi hi!! i'm bakerloo! you might also know me as ronan. that was the name i went by on kyngdom. i've been in and out of these forums since early 2017! it's absolutely wild to be back for the reunion… i think this is actually my first one of these. weird.
to anybody here who was a part of kyngdom back in the day — thank you. i literally think about that universe every day. i don't believe i would be half the writer i am today without each and every one of you guys <3
to those from the realm of big boss: hay
to the admins (and cricket himself!) HAPPY FIFTIETH TO THE MAG! this is an amazing achievement. literally so proud of you guys. here's to fifty more years of stories. pretend i'm making a toast.
to everybody that was in "secret of ellingham manor" — you deserved better honestly. i'll probably finish it one day. when i'm quite old and grey. barnaby lives in my head rent free.
to the chatterboxers who joined after i left: howdy!!!! it's nice to meet you!!!! do y'all still play catch the cookie?
to nobody in particular: i'm so glad this site is the same as it was in 2007/2008. as someone who grew up with the internet then it is very comforting to see a site that advertises an rss feed! indigo mentioned that this site has a very specific culture. i think that's specifically because the site is from a kinda bygone era where these very small and insulated web communities would form on sites not too different from this one. tldr; i love the chatterbox. there's nothing else like it on the web today.
to everyone reading this: you're a part of the chatterbox. that's an amazing thing. give yourself a pat on the back.
ciao for now,
bakerloo
Great to hear from you, bakerloo. Thank you for the congrats! We are celebrating all year long. – Admin

MiceareniceParticipant20
Ronan! Hello! I'm so happy to see you. And I'm so happy to hear you still reminisce on Kyngdom, because I do the same. I still think about how great it would be as a movie/TV series and I still marvel over how well the RPers worked together to weave amazing plots, lore, and twists. Catastrophe was an amazing villain.
Makes me wonder what a group like that could do in a real studio…entertainment at large these days has pretty much gone down the drain, in my opinion. But anyway, there's something extra special about cherishing such a grand story between such a small group of people scattered around the world.
-
PoinsettiaParticipantHa yes entertainment at large has gone down the drain SO MUCH :/

LuminescenceParticipantfourteen
she/her, sunny side upBAKERLOO HI
the secret of ellingham manor is and always will be a masterpiece regardless of completion status. barnaby was epic and unforgettable and i'm so glad i got to be a character in that.
anyways i have no idea if you remember me much but i definitely remember you. so far as my cb role models go you were definitely up there and you were always really nice and funny so it's good to read you again 🙂 how are you??
-
bakerlooParticipant18
he/himLUMINESCENCE!! ahhhhhhhh hi!!!!! of course i remember you <3 it is so so good to read you again. i've missed you a whole lot.
i'm doing pretty well! currently i'm wrapping up my senior year of high school and preparing to head off to college in the fall (admins, i don't remember if specific college names are allowed? anyways, i got accepted to vassar through early decision 2 about three weeks ago). school is a drag but i've got a lot to look forward to. i'm directing a play that i wrote and rehearsing for a production of le mis later this spring! the day to day of it all is a bit boring, but overall i'm feeling quite happy 🙂
it's so so so good to read you again — i know i just said that but it really does bear repeating. how've you been???? what are things like in luminescence land????
-
LuminescenceParticipantfourteen
she/her, sunny side upWOAH CONGRATULATIONS THAT'S AWESOME?? like, to all of that—college, les mis, directing your own play (!!).
i've been pretty good! i'm in 8th grade now so high school is like, out there, which is a little scary but overall i'm excited. i've gotten back into piano and choir again, so that's been nice, and i joined an actual serious swim team which is slightly scary and kind of ironic seeing as i'm not serious about it, like, at all, and overall things are pretty great! i'm glad to hear you're doing well 🙂
-
-
-
SybillParticipantHe/himGoodness, yeah. Kyngdom is still so meaningful to me. I love a lot of the characters I created for it, even if they're a little cringey/underdeveloped now. They were fun; maybe I'll even reuse them for things down the line. Also, wow, crazy to think the magazine has been around for fifty years! It's like I'm celebrating a friend's birthday.
-
PoinsettiaParticipantOoh, hi, Bakerloo! I've seen some of your old posts. (I joined in September 2022.) Nice to meet you too! Yep, we still play catch the cookie. And yes, the CB is so amazing!

NowhereI'm Suki. I use she/her pronouns. i only just joined the CB in early january this year, but I've been pretty active so far. My favorite part of the CB is down to earth right now because of the zoodles. I love the last to post thread. i like reading and drawing, and I am in fifth grade.
-
Luna-StarrParticipantthey/he
Existential PondermentHi everyone! I'm Luna, though some people might know me as Soren. I was active about 2018-2021. I use they/he pronouns now and I'm 15.
I always love the reunion and seeing old friends and mentors! The CB is such an oddly specific place for people to meet and talk, and it makes for some wild stories and great friends. I was always a fan of the poetry threads, hay wars (my team was… the something witches??), and ski lodges. I managed to write and finish 5 in my time here! (Magicae Palace and The Ski Lodge Story were the most popular- they were a duology that talked a lot about the mystery and the power of storytelling.) I still love writing mysteries to this day because of them.
I'm really busy nowadays- I'm a sophomore in high school involved in just about everything. Right now it's musical season- I'm ensemble in Willy Wonka and that keeps me busy just about every day. I'm also in scouts, book club, service club, and scholastic bowl; we're practicing songs from Aladdin in choir and I'm getting ready for solo and ensemble in band. Tomorrow is acedemic challenge regionals and I'm the only underclassman who made the team, which is wild to me. (Acedemic challenge is where you take tests competitively- usually it's only seniors and juniors who make the varsity team.)
It's weird that I hardly know the CBers that are here now! I definitely remember some names, though, and it's good to see you all again. I'm grateful for the CB and everything it's helped me with- my writing, my confidence, my identity. I'm glad to be back for a little 🙂
Welcome back, Luna-Starr. – Admin

I totally get sophomore year being really overwhelming- it's crazy how much you're managing to do! I hope the rest of your year goes well <333

Luna-StarrParticipantthey/he
Existential PondermentHey, it's good to see you!
It always makes me so happy to see people talking about my ski lodges- here I am, jsut writing whatever crazy stuff I want to about the mystery and AE subplots and weird hosts, and I hear about how people really enjoy them! It's just insane to me, and I'm glad people have enjoyed them. <3

Outskirts of the GalaxyLuna-Starr!! Hey! It's so good to see you! I don't think we've ever interacted much, but I've always looked up to you. I love Magicae Palace and The Ski Lodge Story (they are both literally so epic), but I never realized you had other ski lodges — what were they? Congrats on making the academic challenge regionals team, that's awesome! It sounds really fun. Good luck tomorrow! 🙂
-
Luna-StarrParticipantthey/he
Existential PondermentHi pangolin, and thank you! 🙂
My other ski lodges were never all that popular- I wrote two before Magicae Palace when I was very new to the CB, and they aren't all that good imo, but I guess some people like the twists? Links if you're curious:

http://www.cricketmagkids.com/chatterbox/puddingsplace/node/376231
Then after The Ski Lodge Story was finished, I wrote a very short one with only ten guests over the summer. I don't think people really knew about it because spots filled so quickly, and my identity was never revealed.

Existential PondermentLumi!! It's so good to see you.
Thank you so much!! I never know what to say when CBers talk about my poetry, since it's inspired by CBers before me! My style would not be what it is without Bluebird, Stardust, Abigail, Leafy and plenty others, and it's incredible to think I could be doing that for others. I do lurk on the poetry threads sometimes, and watching your poems evolve makes me so happy. <3

SybillParticipantHe/himHi Luna!! I'm not much of a theater person myself but the artform has always been super impressive to me. Sounds like a lot of work! Also, wow, you're doing so much lol. I agree with you on the strangeness of not recognizing the current CBers. It's not bad, just makes me feel a little like an ancient relic of some sort.

to vote, she/theyHi!
It's me, Kitten, the one who looked up all the old reunion threads last year. It was such a surprise to open this thread and see my name there <3
I remember the first reunion in 2019, and it's so weird to think that it's been four years since then?!
A little bit about me- as I just said, I'm Kitten. I use she/they pronouns. I was active on the CB from 2017 to around 2021. Some of my favorite things about the CB are the odd traditions that are somehow still going, like ski lodges, the poetry thread, and catch the cookie. This was the site that first encouraged me to write and gave me a place to share my writing, as well as the first time I was ever on an internet forum, so it holds a very special place in my heart. Like Indy and Bakerloo said, going to this site again was such a nostalgia burst- it's so fun to see that it still looks exactly the same, still has that weird glitch where the first comment on a page sends it to the very back, etc. It feels almost like a time capsule.
I'm currently in high school. I'm taking some very fun classes this year, and I'm realizing just how much of a history nerd I am. Some of my current interests and hobbies include: robotics, the school newspaper, editing videos, collecting earrings, jigsaw puzzles, researching random fun bits of history, Matilda, Graceling, Shadow and Bone, Heartstopper, Critical Role, and loads more. I haven't been writing as much lately as I used to, but I have still been doing NaNo every year, which I absolutely credit to the CB.
What's up with y'all? Any new pieces of media you're obsessed with?
