StarseekerParticipantHey y'all! It has been a very long time since I've submitted a post here. Since the last reunion thread, I think! The CB was very near and dear to me for a long time; I was active here 2015-2021ish, and my older sister was here even earlier than that, so I've had an awareness of the CB for a very long time. Even though the CB is no longer the place for me, I'll always be grateful for the connections it allowed me to make and the stories it let me tell. <3
A little bit about me, since none of you probably know who I am! I'm Starseeker, but I usually go by Star. I'm a college student (haha yikes) who is majoring in Art History and double minoring in Art Museum Studies and Classics and Ancient Mediterranean Studies. That's a pretty long way of saying that I want to work in a museum after I graduate! While on the CB, I had a pretty long thread of my original novel that I worked on over the span of a few years before finally finishing. Somewhere around here is also the thread of all my short stories, too, and of course my art in the art posting thread as well. It's good to see some old names on this thread that I recognize!
I hope everyone had a great Valentine's Day. It's nice to check in with y'all!
~Starseeker
It's good to hear from you, Starseeker. A museum is a wonderful place to work. Thanks for checking in. We hope to hear from you again in 2024.
Best wishes,

StarseekerParticipantI should also add to this: my pronouns are she/her! And while I was on the CB, I had an AE named Zoey and a CAPTCHA named Starfire Scales. I hope everyone is having a great night/day!

to vote, she/theyStar! I was so excited to see that you posted here. I remember checking your novel and short story threads religiously to see every time you posted a new chapter. Those were some of my favorite pieces of writing on the CB, up there with Vyolette's book and "Follow me Chase me" (who remembers that lol), and such an inspiration to me. <3
It's so cool that you want to work in a museum! I'm at the point in high school where everyone is telling us to Think About Your Future and Make Career Plans, and while I don't know for sure what I want to do yet (I'm in high school! they all need to chill out!), working in a museum sounds amazing. I'm not as much an art history person, but classics and other more modern history is fascinating.
-
AzaleaParticipant16
the CB :DSTAR!! I was hoping I'd see you here! You're really a role model for me in your art, writing (I distinctly remember Zoey and your short story thread), and the way you carry yourself so eloquently and full of kindness. Your career path seems (like everyone's) so cool.
-
SybillParticipantHe/himHi Star! Happy belated Valentine's day. Majoring in Art History sounds so cool, and so does working in a museum. Your artwork has always been a huge inspiration to me! I hope everything is well in your world!

Alizarine, she/himParticipantunknown
whereabouts uninterestingHey! I'm Alizarine and I joined the chatterbox in late 2017. I can't remember if I made a reunion post last year or not, but it's fantastic to come back to so many familiar names 🙂 I remember doing a bunch of rps, a picturing thread or two, and co-writing the Ryokan Suzuran ski lodge w/ Viola. SO awesome to see another catch-the-cookie thread… I remember those… back in my day (<- under 5 yrs ago.)….
I'm a first-year college student now, and I'm wavering between engineering and environmental sci. College is busy, but really exciting, and I'm still finding time for music/art/lit in my free time! My favorite class right now is an intro to literature class– I just finished reading Beowulf translated by Maria Headley– and other than that I've been working on a few zines + chipping away at my hydra-headed reading list.
It's so great to see this site still active and thriving. Happy 50th, Cricket, and happy Valentine's day!!
It's good to hear from you, Alizarine! Thanks for checking in.
Best wishes,

Existential PondermentAlizarine! You might remember me as Soren. It's good to see you again!
The Ryokan Suzuran! I wasn't in that one, but I remember reading it- that was such a good "era" of ski lodges. I've always loved your writing and humor, I remember you as one of the funniest CBers 🙂
-
JaybellsParticipantLost in the UniverseAlizarine! That's crazy! I don't know if our active times overlapped much, but Jwyn is always talking about you, and it's great to see you around!

MorningParticipantshe/her
yonderHi, it's Morning! (Used to be PygmyOwl) I was active on the CB from roughly late 2019 (?) until 2021 (?) It's kind of late for a reunion day post, but I almost forgot it was today. It's so amazing to see all these new and old CBers that I knew/read about in old threads/haven't even met before. The CB was such an important part of my life, especially during COVID, and so much of who I am today is possible because of this site.
I'm a co-author (along with NerdFace) of the Camp Juniper ski lodge (which is not dead, by the way, we're both just busy and full of procrastination, so we post about one part a month) and that ski lodge, along with various other writing projects that I worked on here helped me grow so much as a writer. I'm currently working an a VERY rough modern retelling of the Greek myth of Orpheus and Eurydice that I hope to finish before I graduate high school.
I'm fifteen (for one more month!!!) and a sophomore, and I'm so busy right now with a thousand different things. My school's drama club is putting on a production of She Kills Monsters, a play about DnD, which is amazing. I'd highly recommend looking up the show, if only to read the script, because I love it. I'm playing Kaliope, a dark elf ranger with a spectacular quarterstaff. I'm also going to state in a completion for my school's business club, despite the fact that I never want to be a business-person at all, and I'm doing a performance for National History Day with NerdFace.
It's so cool to be back here, and I hope this site continues for a long time. Farewell for now, lizards, and I hope you all have an amazing Valentine's Day! <3
It's not too late, Morning, there's still almost an hour left of Valentine's Day in Central time, and three hours in Pacific time. Morning, you're welcome here this Night and any other time of day. Thank you for checking in.

-
MorningParticipantshe/her, yonderLUMI!!! HI I MISSED YOU, YOU AMAZING HUMAN!!!
I definitely considered you one of my closest CB friends too, and thank you so much! You're so brilliant and thoughtful and spectacular and I really missed talking to you. How have you been?
-
LuminescenceParticipantfourteen
she/her, sunny side upahhh thank you! i've been pretty good, you?

MorningParticipantshe/her, yonderHi, peppermint! It's good to see you too!!
-
-
HexParticipantshe/herOH HI you probably don't know me, I think I joined after you left, but I've read part of your ski lodge and some poetry I think and they're both so good, and I seriously love the name PygmyOwl 😀
Nox says {fybry}—February! It's okay, Nox, I can't spell it either…
-
MorningParticipantshe/her, yonderTHANK YOU SO MUCH!! I'm so happy you liked the ski lodge, it's kind of my baby. I think I may have posted two or three poems ever, so if you found those, I'm very impressed. I don't think we ever met, but I've popped in a couple times without our posting, and I think I definitely recognize your name.

-
AzaleaParticipant16
the CB :DYo, Morning!!! I was in costumes crew for my school's production of She Kills Monsters last year and I adore the play, though theater is a lot, to say the least. You definitely seem like a Kaliope-type person. <33
-
MorningParticipantshe/her, yonderNo way, that's so cool! It's definitely a lot, and that show in particular has so many technical elements (we've spent countless hours making Tiamat out of paper mache) but it's definitely a lot of fun.
-
AzaleaParticipant16
The CB :DOh yeah, we were lucky enough to have the wife of one of the teachers (I'm not entirely sure if she has a standing job at the school or not) come in and make the Tiamat heads for us- each of the heads represented one of the 5 stages of grief, and we had actors wear them on their heads. It was awesome. Their was a LOT of spray paint.
-
MorningParticipantshe/her, yonderYeah, that sounds pretty similar to what we're doing too. I love the idea of having the heads represent the stages of grief, though. We're just basing them on the five elements, although all of us who actually play DND keep complaining that it's not technically accurate to Tiamat. One of the art elementary teachers is helping us with that too, but it's VERY messy and time consuming.

St.Owl/CoulsonParticipant18
xe/theyHi everyone!
I'm Coulson, but I went by St.Owl when I was on here back in 2015-2019-ish. I haven't been on the CB much recently, so it's been lovely to return and see so many familiar sights. I desperately miss the amount of writing and roleplaying I did during my CB days, and I'm excited to see that you all are still going strong.
I graduated from my high school/early college with an Associate's degree back in June and so I am now technically a junior in Actual Four-Year College, but I'll be taking three years here to give myself some space to breathe. I have been really enjoying college. I'm a classics major with hopefully a minor in gender and sexuality studies. I've done a lot of historical research and theory in the past few months and really fallen in love with it! Being a classics major also means I'm doing a lot of language. I'm in my fifth year of Latin now; last semester I tried Roman comedy for the first time by reading Plautus's Mostellaria, and this semester I'm reading some new parts of Ovid's Metamorphoses, which I love endlessly. And while I took a year of Ancient Greek as a senior, I started fresh in college and I'm about halfway through the beginner track now! If all goes well, I'll be able to start reading some actual Ancient Greek texts next semester – exciting!
I still haven't totally figured out what I want to do after college, but my current concept is possibly going into archives. I'm taking a class this semester about archiving a site called Dura-Europos, which is a very exciting archaeological site in Syria with Hellenistic, Persian, and Roman artifacts and influence. I'm hoping this class will serve as a springboard to some museum internships over the summer… but we'll see!
I hope you all are doing well. I'm happy to see so many familiar and unfamiiar faces, and hear what's been going on in everyone's lives!
It's great to hear from you, and it's wonderful that you're enjoying college! – Admin

Ahhh so many familiar names!
Ruby M. you're CB royalty! I don't know if we actually overlapped on here, but it's still great to see you. Please keep coming back for as long as you want to. We will always be happy to hear from you.
Mice, your ski lodges are LEGENDARY and I need to go reread them immediately. Nice to see you!
St. Owl! Hi! I was hoping you'd show up!
Indigo! It's so good to see you!
Viola?! Moonlight! Jwyn! Starseeker! Vyolette! Alizarine! I remember you guys!
~~~
P.S. I forgot that this is a great place to rant about the things I love, so I'm gonna take advantage of that. I am obsessed with the musical Hadestown, the show The Good Place, and the books The Starless Sea and This is How You Lose the Time War. Anyone else?
-
Luna-StarrParticipantthey/he
Existential PondermentYou wouldn't know me (I was kind of in the "era" after you; I read Mice's ski lodges so I kinda know "of" you), but hello, I also love Hadestown so much! The style, the themes, the parallelism between the characters- it's all so fantastic!
-
VyoletteParticipantHey Dragonrider! I remember you too! How have you been? Unfortunately I don't think I've watched/read any of the books or shows you mentioned, but I have heard of them.
-
Ruby @DragonriderParticipantHi, Dragonrider! If we haven't overlapped, we've definitely talked before, because I remember you for sure. How have things been?
Also wanted to drop a line re: This is How You Lose the Time War. It's not my usual sort of thing, but some of the prose made me want to clip through the floor. You know when you want to lie down to process something…let it steep, if you will…but you're already in bed so you just kind of groan like a slightly enraged rhinoceros and ascend into a nether dimension? Yeah. Enjoyable read, glad to hear you like it.
-
MoonligjtParticipantDragon!!! hello!! Welcome back here for the moment! I am also obsessed with Hadestown. It is my favorite musical ever!!! I've been considering starting The Good Place once I have time so maybe you have convinced me…
Tsuki the SkywolfParticipant14
she/herHey guys!
I'm Tsuki, I use she/her pronouns, and I'm a new CBer; I've been on here since September 2021. It's so cool to see all of the old CBers coming back to say hello! It's so cool that a whole generation of writers and dreamers has come from here. You guys have so many insightful and beautiful things to say, and I'm so honored to be a part of this community! I'm trying to think of something meaningful to try to articulate my feelings, but it's hard, haha. I wanted to touch on what Azalea said a few pages back– the CB doesn't feel quite like the Internet. I love that about it. When I first joined I was slightly frustrated with the time it took for something to be posted, and now I'm very grateful for it. Azalea was right, it's like writing letters. It's unlike the rest of the fast-paced digital world– it's our own, private, safe, cozy corner of the internet always there to come back to. It's not a social media site to get likes or to stalk people or just to scroll our sorrows away; it's a place to build a community and boost each other up.
So many epic people are coming back to say hello and that's just so inspiring to me. All of you were CBers at one point, and now you guys are in college, and you're working on your careers, and you're dreaming, and you're figuring out where you belong in this vast expanse we call the universe. I love to see you guys here, and you have no idea how much your words warm my heart.
I never knew any of you returning CBers, but I appreciate all of you so much and how you built up this community. (Wow, Ruby M., you invented Ski Lodges? That's so fantastic! They're one of my absolute favorite parts of being here!) Thank you for just stopping by to say a few words and tell us how you've been. I know I'm a day late– I don't know if anyone will even see this– but you guys are great.
*awkward salute*
Tsuki
Thank you for your kind words about Chatterbox, Tsuki, and for this beautiful message to CB alums.
CorinaParticipant21
they/themHi! This totally slipped my mind yesterday but I figured I'd stop by anyway even if a little late. I'm Corina. I think I might be the oldest who's checked in except Ruby. I was active probably 2013-2015ish but this forum was one of the first places I discovered a lot of the things I still love today and it's super nostalgic for me. Can't believe it's been 10 years!
I'm graduating college in a few months and moving on to a real adult life working in interior design. Although I didn't pursue writing as my focus, it is my minor and I still write almost every day. When I was here, I was 11 and a lot was going wrong in my life. Now I'm 21 and living on my own and honestly, nothing's perfect still, but I survived and life does get better. 🙂 In a lot of ways I'm embracing my inner 13-yeear old now more than ever (even if that just means I still listen to MCR almost every day…).
I hope all the returners are doing well and those who use this placee now are having as much fun here as I once did!
Oh, Corina! We're so pleased to hear from you. Thank you for this update on your life!
Best wishes,
Admin
-
Ruby@CorinaParticipantCorina, it's so good to see you! I think we last talked on Valentine's Day 2021…? How have you been since then?
Congratulations on your upcoming major and your flourishing writing hobby. I'm glad to hear things are turning out for the better, even if they aren't perfect. That's been my experience with adulthood too so far, so I imagine you'll have even better times ahead of you.
Do you already have work lined up? Are you excited to head out into the world?
-
CorinaParticipantOops, a little late on the reply here but maybe you'll see it at some point. Hey Ruby! I think that's pretty accurate- it's always lovely to come back here and see you still doing well. Honestly, I think I'm in a very different and much better place than 2021. Growing up & all.
Thank you so much! On your own post, I saw that you're doing work in admin & translating, which is so cool! That's awesome to see develop out of the passion I know you have for that sort of thing. I wish you all the best with all of that.
I have an internship right now through my last semester of school, and have some job prospects lined up from previous internships and connections, so hopefully one of them pans out. Not terribly exciting work, but I'm looking for financial stability and comfort more than passion, honestly. I have a lot of ideas about where I want to go next that are more exciting, but I'm focused on surviving school for now.
LupineParticipant15,she/her
Platform 9 and 3/4Just read through all of the pages on this thread and it made me very unnecessarily emotional which is not going to help me do my precalculus homework but that's fine :')
Hello! If we haven't met, I'm Lupine, she/her, 15. I'm an active CBer and I've been here since June of 2020. It was a real refuge for me during quarantine, which was the perfect time to discover a hidden website where I could pass the hours surrounded by other art-and-writing nerds who made me feel less lonely.
Lumi, Azalea, Bakerloo, Viola?, Starseeker, and Morning–you're the ones I remember the most on this thread so I wanted to say hi!!
Lumi, I remember thinking that you are such a kind, compassionate person who always made others feel better and expressed your thoughts in a very eloquent way.
Azalea, I thought you were so cool when I first joined (you're slightly older than me, your art was so good, and I felt like we had a lot in common lol) so it's great to see your name again!
Bakerloo, all of your posts were so thoughtful, they were always enjoyable to read.
Starseeker, I remember looking up to you a lot –you were so talented at art, but besides that, you always gave good advice & thoughtful comments.
Viola? I know this gets super repetitive, but your art was (and still is I'm sure) INCREDIBLE! But besides that, you always expressed yourself in a very poetic way and seemed so kind! It's cool that you're majoring in English; that's what I want to do when I get to college.
Morning, I remember seeing you around on BaB and always enjoying your book recommendations!
It's great to see you all again :') I feel very old now…
-
MorningParticipantshe/her, yonderLupine, hi!! I remember you as having amazing book recommendations too, actually. I guess we influenced each other's bookshelves. It's so good to see you! Also, I don't know if I ever said this when we were both active, but I love your name.
-
Viola?ParticipantSecret
SecretHello! Don't worry, I always appreciate the reminders. And thank you so much!
-
AzaleaParticipant16
the CB :DLupiiiine! Thank you for the compliments; it means a lot that all my time spent on here led up to some kind of a positive impact. I'm honestly anything but cool irl though haha, so that surprised me. I remember thinking we have a lot in common as well! You're so kind, and a great artist as well (I look through the art posting thread every once in a while lol)
Also, I second everything said about other CBers here! 🙂
