GreenMangoParticipant19
they/themWhoops, I'm totally late to this but I was reminded about the Valentine's Reunion and wanted to check in! I'm GreenMango (I normally just go by Mango), and I was active around 2016/2017 I think — I'm not sure the exact timeframe.
I really appreciate the CB for the friendships it led me towards; it's so weird to look back and consider how a simple decision to check out a writing website at age 13 turned into some of the most wonderful connections that will soon accompany me all the way into my 20s!
It's also amazing to see how the website has evolved. I see some other people have already discussed the prevaling nature of CB culture — it's so interesting to consider how such small online communities build specific ways of interacting with each other that last for so long! We're all just middle school nerds turned autoethnographers, aren't we?
I see the same qualities that drew my 13 year old self to the CB reflected in the website today, and that makes me immeasurably happy. I hope everyone active now and in the future is able to gain the same meaningfulness that I found from this site! It safely connected me to other people at a time when I was first starting to explore the internet and nourished my introspection and curiousity about other people's lives in a pretty positive way.
I think I checked in either last year or the year before, so I'll make my update "quick". I'm a sophomore in college, studying geology with a geography minor. I work in a paleomagnetism lab now, running experiments on rock samples dated from the KPg extinction (the event that killed the dinosaurs!). I love my job so much and am super passionate about my chosen field of study. I've also added a Portuguese language minor and recently submitted my application for a summer study abroad in Brazil! (Speaking of summer plans, I'm terribly excited for mine! I'm planning a 2 week trip to Iceland, followed by some time spent with my aunt in Europe and a meetup with a penpal, and then Brazil if I get into the study abroad scholarship!)
Anyway, I've also picked up crocheting over the past year and I absolutely adore it so of course I had to mention it! I used to weave a lot as a kid, and it's comforting to get back into a similar hobby. I made a sage-colored mesh/flower vest a couple months ago and so far it's my magnum opus.
Happy late Valentine's day everyone!
Great to hear from you! Summer study abroad in Brazil sounds wonderful. – Admin

Outskirts of the GalaxyHi GreenMango! I don't think we were ever on the CB at the same time, but I remember seeing you in some old threads — it's nice to meet you! Your job sounds so awesome — I've always found geology fascinating, although I doubt I'll make a career out of it. Studying abroad in Brazil sounds really fun too! And it's really cool that you're into crocheting — that's something I've always wanted to try, but I've never really been able to get into. Maybe I will someday. Anyway, it's really nice to see you! 😀

PeregrineParticipantMany Moons
The AerieHi all! I totally forgot about Valentine's Day until today, when I checked CaC and was bowled over by 147 posts on the Reunion Thread. It is so wonderful to see familiar names come back, both old CBers who I know from previous Reunion Threads and from my reading of old threads, and CBers who were on when I first joined. I must say that the Chatterbox Valentine's Day Reunion tradition is one of my favorites. It is absolutely wonderful to catch up with everyone.
I am Peregrine, and I am among many other things a CB ghoster and much delayed poster (much to my regret and embarassment). I think I was most active in the year I first joined (the past 3 years blur together in my memory) and my third CBversary is coming up March 16! I play the violin, I read, I knit, I journal and correspond. I don't write stories as much as I use to, and I am slowly drifting away from the CB, though I am not ready to leave yet. I sometimes wonder if I ever will be. Regardless the Chatterbox is a special place to me and I think it always will be. I hope it will be here for many, many, many more generations.
Happy 50th to Cricket! I hope to see you all next year!

she/her, sunny side upPEREGRINE HELLO!
you are an epic human being and i'm so glad to see you 😀 how are you?
-
MorningParticipantshe/her, yonderPeregrine, hi!! Ghoster twins, unfortunately. I can't believe it's been three years, but I think my third CBversery just rolled around too. It's lovely to see you! I think I've said this before, but the first novel I ever finished was inspired by a story picturing I did of you, so you're kind of unforgettable for me, and NerdFace and I still have the printed version of the map you drew for our ski lodge (which was stunning, by the way). I hope you're doing well!
-
JaybellsParticipantLost, somewherepERiGriNe!!! I remember how skilled a writer you were from our Drawing+Writing duo in the partered contest! That was so fun! Glad to see you around some more! 🙂

FlamarestiiParticipantOh um hi. I'm slightly (actually, very) intimidated by the Great Wise and Seemingly All-Knowing Older CBers, but I want to say hello anyway (several days late, I know). I'm one of the newer CBers, like 1 year old and still learning! But sometimes I'm reading old threads and come across your names, and it's so cool to see the history of the CB and all the amazing people who are and were a part of it. Anyway, happy reunion! <3

Agent WinterParticipantClassified
lateI totally forgot about the valentine's day reunion! I hope I'm not too late. Anyway, I'm Agent Winter, I'm 15, and I use they/them pronouns! I'm an older CBer but I did briefly return to do picturings for awhile last year so i do recognize some of your names. It's made me quite emotional looking through the replies on this thread and seeing all the people from my generation of the chatterbox, haha. I wish I'd posted on this thread earlier so I could say hi to some of the oldies, but if there's anyone still here who recognizes me, hello! I've missed you!
Winter out!
It's good to hear from you, Winter. I actually think we decided the the reunion runs all of Valentine's week, because one day isn't long enough for all greetings and replies. You're definitely not too late.

she/her, sunny side upWOAH HELLO
i don't know if you remember me (hi! it's Lumi! i think we overlapped a bit) but you are, have been, and always will be a CB legend to me. i still imagine some CBers the way you drew them in picturings ahaha
it's good to see you!!

hereHi Luminescence!! I do remember you, actually, and I'm flattered that you think i'm a CB legend! It's good to see you too!

Luna-StarrParticipantthey/he
Existential PondermentWin!! It's Soren. I've missed you too!
it does feel kind of strange and sad to look through these comments- oldies who were around way before us, role models, friends, and never folks we don't even know all just happy to see each other- it's crazy how it works out!
What are you up to these days? I remember talking about all the hobbies and favorite movies and books we had, but I'm sure plenty of it's changed.
-
Win@Luna-StarrParticipantClassified
tiredLUNA-STARR!! Hi!! To answer your questions, lately i've been working on playing guitar and getting into songwriting. I played some of my songs at a local open mic recently, which was pretty scary but ended up being really fun. And of course I'm still making art– recently i've been taking a pottery class, which has been cool. I've been playing a lot of video games too, mainly Destiny 2 and Warframe. How have you been?
-
LS@WinParticipantthey/he
Existential PondermentThat's so cool! I've never been very good at guitar or songwriting; anyone who can do either is very impressive. I've tried composing things, but the music never translates from my head onto a computer or a music staff quite right. And I always loved your art, it was awesome to see it improve as time went on.
I've been way busy! I'm part of lots of clubs and such- book club, service club, scouts, choir, jazz choir, band, theater, scholastic bowl and academic challenge. I've been having lots of fun with it though- we have a new band teacher this year and I lover her, our pieces are so fun. Spring musical (Willy Wonka) is pretty good, but for fall drama we did Shakespeare's "A Comedy of Errors" and it was actually so much fun! I had a small part, but my character was very sassy and gossipy, which was so much fun to play.
-
Win@LSParticipantClassified
reclusiveoh that's awesome– i miss being in plays, i used to be somewhat of a theater kid when i was younger. i'm going to a different school this fall, so maybe i'll get back into theater then. and thank you for the compliments btw! im not great at guitar yet, but i'm getting better. and my art has definitely gotten better over the past year… hmm, maybe i'll post something on the art posting thread while i'm visiting.

VyoletteParticipantHELLO WINTER HI *hugs if that's ok* I definitely recognize you. It's so great to hear from you again! As the Admin said, you're not too late, and it's better late than never! How are you?

Win@VyoletteParticipantClassified
the infinite forestHiiiii i missed you!! *hugs* I've been doing well (although school has been kicking my butt lately), how are you?
-
VyoletteParticipantI missed you too! I'm doing pretty well myself, though I can relate to the school kicking your butt thing. I'm in college at the moment, and the homework can get to be a lot. I hope the rest of your school year goes well!

Winter break nowHi AW, it's so good to see you again!!! Yeah, sometimes I forget just how much I miss the old crew…
There are so many people I want to reply to on this thread that I'm overwhelmed by the prospect and mostly have to just read what everyone else is writing. *sigh*
and soon enough everyone will just disappear for another year or more or forever…
where is the time going? I want to go there too…
-
Win@JwynParticipantClassified
PiltoverJwyn!! How's it going? And yea, I feel the same way– it's crazy how time flies, right?? Since the pandemic, time has been so weird. I can't believe it's been so long since I was active here! Dang, now I'm getting sentimental…
-
-
SybillParticipantHe/himHey, Winter! I'm not sure we interacted all too often while I was on the CB, but I definitely remember you! I loved your picturings and artwork. I think you may have drawn a few characters of mine before; I believe I have them saved in a folder somewhere. Just gotta remember the file names, haha. Anyway, it's really good to hear from you again! I hope everything is going well for you.
-
Win@SybillParticipantClassified
battery cityHey Sybill! I remember you! It's cool to hear that there are people who really liked my picturings back in the day– when i was younger, i remember feeling like i was terrible at drawing compared to everyone else here, even though in retrospect I really wasn't that bad. So it's really sweet to hear that people liked my picturings, especially now that I'm more confident in my art skills, you know? Anyway, it's been great hearing from you and everyone else, and I hope everything is going well for you too!

HollyshockParticipantYou’ll Never KnowOh goodness, I completely forgot about the Valentine's day reunion! Gah, I wish I had remembered earlier so then I'd get to talk to some old friends. It's absolutely crazy to see both new CBers, and also familiar old CBers! I'm so glad to see that so many new CBers have joined and it's amazing to see both new and old names!
I'm Hollyshock, a CBer who joined on January 19, 2020. I was active for quite a bit, but life got a little more crazier than I expected, so I did kind of suddenly drop off of the face of the internet. I think it's been a year since I've actively been on? Anyways, I'm currently 14 years old and in high school! (Time flies by so fast! Crazy.) Life has gotten really hectic due to marching band (and regular concert band), school, and just life in general. It's been an absolute blast for as long as I've been on here, and the memories have been quite fond to look back on. I hope everyone can continue to have an amazing time on CB, and I hope everyone can also make amazing memories just like mine! <3
As always, thank you so much for your time, and to anyone who remembers who I am, hello hello!! I hope you've all been well! 😀
Hello Hollyshock! – Admin

JaybellsParticipantLost, somewhereHollyshock! It's so good to see youuuuuu! I miss your writing and commentary!
Cool to see you're also in MB! I never would have guessed. I hope life is treating you alright! 🙂
-
HollyshockParticipantYou’ll Never KnowAhhh, Jaybells, hello hello!! You're also in MB? That's so cool!! What instrument do you play? Or do you do guard? I currently march a bass clarinet! 😀
Your writing has always been so inspirational, and I absolutely adore your writing style! And oh my gosh, your art?? It's so beautiful!! Thank you so much for being so kind and nice to me, and I'm so glad that you've enjoyed my small little comments here and there! I hope life has been treating you well as well! <3

she/herBetter late than never! I've missed the CB, I'm so happy to be back for the reunion, even if I missed it by a few days. I see lots of familiar faces (hi guys!!!) and some new names!
If you don't know me, hi, I'm Quill! I'm 18, and my pronouns are she/her. I was active from 2017 to I think sometime in 2022. I had three AEs, Harper, Ace, and Bean, who don't get out much anymore, and my CAPTCHA, Basil. The CB has always meant so much to me, and I'm glad to see it hasn't changed much. 🙂 I'm a senior in high school now, which I still can't really believe. I haven't quite decided where I'm going to college yet, but I'm planning on majoring in Secondary English Education and minoring in Creative Writing, I want to be a high school English teacher. I'm pretty much the same as I was when I was here, just older and busier. I still love to read and write and perform. On top of AP Lit I'm taking two writing classes this year, Writer's Workshop and Poetry Workshop, which I've been really enjoying. I'm in my school's musical, Mamma Mia (one of my favorite shows), and I'm in my school's honors choir. And I have a really cool job now! I work at a bakery, it's cute and pink and woman-owned, I love it so much.
It's so great to see everyone, I hope you're all doing well! The CB is such a wonderful community and will always have a special place in my heart. I love you all! <3
~Quill
Welcome back, Quill. – Admin
-
SybillParticipantHe/himQuill!! I was really hoping you'd be here! Both of those writing classes sound like a lot of fun. Also Mamma Mia must be a blast to perform, haha. Your job sounds like a ton of fun, too. Bakeries have always felt like a weirdly magical place to me. Especially small, locally-owned ones with fun decor; they feel so full of life and cozy.
-
AzaleaParticipantHi Quill, it's great to see you! I always thought you were so cool and I remember your AEs for sure. (That rhymed, huh) Mamma Mia sounds like a super fun play to be in! And I'm sure you'll be a great English teacher; you're always so thoughtful and sweet.
-
Luna-StarrParticipantthey/he
Existential PondermentQuill! It's good to see you again.
It's awesome that you can take two English workshops! I'm hoping to take a journalism elective next year as a junior, but they're a bit selective as to who gets to do it for both junior and senior year, so I'm hoping it'll work out.
I remember your AEs! They were so fun. I remember Bean being in my ski lodges, and I think Ace was friends with one of my AEs- Estrella, maybe? I was the "constantly evolving AEs" type of CBer, haha.
What are you reading nowadays? I just finished Murder on the Orient Express- ski lodges really gave me a love for mystery, I'm a sucker for a good whodunnit.
-
LupineParticipant15
Quill! Heyo! Your writing classes sound so fun. I'd love to take a poetry class; my English class is doing a poetry unit right now and it made me realize for the first time how much I enjoy poetry (even when I don't understand it at all).

TealeafParticipant15
steepinga little late but heyyy!! I'm Tealeaf, a semi-active CBer. I joined august 2020 and I'm still around, just less often. Life has been great recently. I've joined my school's marching band and made it into the audition-only concert band, which has been fantastic. I've also gotten much more into art (painting specifically), and I'm planning to go to college for interior design and architecture. Gosh, it's so fun to see so many old CBers come back each year! This place is so special, and all the people here are incredible<3 Happy 50th, cricket!!
Thank you, Tealeaf. It's good to hear from you and all the others!

OMG, my captcha says "cbruk." Not sure what the last bit means, but CB!!!

Majestic MaryParticipant1 eternity
MajestopiaUm, hey guys!!
I forgot the reunion was a thing but it randomly popped into my mind just now. Sorry I'm four days late. I joined in february 2020, so I guess my 3 year cbversary just passed. I became a lot less active once high school started, but I still think about this place! It had such an effect on me as a person. I hope I get to see some familiar faces if I'm not too late 🙂
It's good to hear from you, Mary. Reunion lasts at least a week, so you're not really late. You can go back and read all the comments we've received from other Chatterbox alums.
Best wishes,
Admin
-
JaybellsParticipantLostHi Mary! It feels like it's been forever! I'm not sure we really talked much, but I still vividly remember your skill in poetry and general presence. You always seemed like one of those more mature CBers who had figured themselves out and knew what they were doing/where they were going. It's great to see you around; hope you're doing well 🙂

Mei (she/her)Participant18
FairylandHi!! My gosh, it's been forever. I'm Mei, and I was on the CB from 2015-2016. I'm now a freshman in college, which is crazy. It's so cool to see all the new faces and all the old faces I remember.
In high school I was doing a ton of climate activism, organized a couple protests locally and worked on some campaigns over the pandemic with kids around the world (which was so fun! having friends in countries like Thailand and the UAE was so cool). Also over the pandemic, I realized I was bi.
Working on different social issues led me to an interest in healthcare, and I'm now in my first year of college majoring in psychology and premed. Since I wasn't a STEM kid at all in high school, I've had to play some catchup while wishing I paid more attention in high school biology, lol. Other than studying, I spend my time messing around with my group of gays and working with my school's AASA (Asian-American students association). Right now we're prepping for Asian Pacific American Heritage Month and that's been really fun.
-
AzaleaParticipant16
EarthHi Mei! Our time on the CB didn't overlap, but I still see you as one of the CB Old Guard or whatever. That's really so awesome that you did a lot of climate activism. Doing something about climate change has been a main goal in my life for practically as long as I can remember, but I've struggled to find a way to do that that's truly impactful but also isn't something I'd totally hate. (I doubt I'd enjoy a career in, say, engineering renewable energy, or politics, and I'd like to avoid social media activism, but idk…) So if you have any advice/would like to just share more about your experiences with activism, I would appreciate that!!
Also hey, I realized I was bi over the pandemic too *fist bump*
-
th3mysticw0lfParticipantdude my time did not overlap w urs at all BUT IVE ALWYAS LOOKED UP TO YOU
like legitametally. i have seen u as such a pog person and all of that stuff (im going to skip it because otherwise im going to start crying)
BUT WIOETUOIWEUTOIUWTOIU first off its so cool that ur school has an AASA our school has like a GSA but thats about it
next bro. same ngl i cant pay attention in biology i end up drawing on my hand or something
and over the pandemic i realized i was bi/pan too
– hana
-
LupineParticipantLOL my IRL name is Hana and when I saw it at the end of your post I was very confused for a second
-
-
LupineParticipantalso asianHii! I don't think we ever overlapped but you seem so cool 😀 I'm so impressed with your activism projects! Those are things I've dreamed of doing but never had the initiative to actually do.
My school is like 60% Asian so it would be pretty ridiculous if we had an AASA, but I am really looking forward to AAPIHM this year (especially now that I have social media, so I can bombard people with Asian stuff for an entire 31 days whether they like it or not). What kinds of things are y'all planning for the holiday?

AvaraParticipantHi CBers, old and new!I think I'm too late, though…it's been more than a week since the 14th.I'm Avara, and my pronouns are she/her. I joined the CB in March 2022, so I'm pretty new here. I've been reading the thread, and I was so surprised to see so many old CBers! I'm really sorry I'm late. -
