AmethystGuestCaspian's castleHelloo!! I’ve been basically living up the ~last few days of vacation~ helppp – how’ve you been? Has your school started yet? I hope not *sends time machine* And if you count Bree as a Narnian horse, yes, they do; I don’t think it was ever cleared up whether other Narnian horses roll, though…
V2 C 13: Deep as in I was thinking of him as a good guy, but underneath he’s actually not nice at all – there’s more in him than meets the eye :/
V3 C 2: Haha probably because he was nice all along, he just didn’t choose to show it until now… I suppose they’re basically more interested in finding out about him and considering him as a part of their lives because they think Elizabeth likes him, though it does seem that they’re partly getting prejudiced in his favor. Maybe they’re also more likely to think well of him because they trust Elizabeth’s skill at reading people?
C 3: Yum yum
C 4: Yikes, I was completely wrong about Mr. Wickham :0 It turns out he’s the stereotypical bad guy instead of the stereotypical good guy (which might make him less stereotypical?) When I first read this chapter my reaction was “Well really, Darcy, what Elizabeth needs is for you to declare that you’re going to go and hElP”, and even though he did do that in the end, it would still have been nice for him to say so… I see why he didn’t, but still, I mean, come on, slight lack of dashing hero vibes??
C 5: Lydia’s personality is way worse than I’d thought.
C 6: Seriously Mr. Collins, is that really the letter to write? Throughout the whole book I’ve been struggling between irritation and amusement concerning him, which is a rather awkward state of things O_o
C 7: Whew
C 10: Very nice, Darcy, very nice *pats him approvingly on the head*
C 11: Mrs. Bennet is really too much :/
C 13: Finally!! Hurray!!! Fate (as in, Jane Austen being marginally fond of happy endings) has spoken:)
C 14: Go Elizabeth!! It’s so satisfying to have someone telling Lady Catherine what she needs to hear >:)
C 16: So Elizabeth did reform Darcy, by refusing him :0 It kind of surprises me how little triumph Jane Austen lends to this scene; it seems so matter-of-fact and like just another part of the story instead of the climax.
c 17: I love Mr. Bennet’s observation at the end of this chapter: “I admire all my three sons-in-law highly. Wickham, perhaps, is my favourite; but I think I shall like your husband quite as well as Jane’s.” XD
C 18-19: It’s nice to have a lot of happy wrapping-up-of-loose-ends after the proposal :DI think, all in all, I liked Volum III best; there’s actual action and suspense in it, and everything starts coming together. So the “Pride” in the title is Darcy, and the “Prejudice” is Elizabeth – it’s a clever way of titling it.
A couple of days ago I watched the 2005 movie, which is very good, though I feel like it’s even lighter and frillier than the novel. There’s one scene where Mr. Bingley is trying to practice proposing to Jane with Darcy, which is so nice:) P&P in itself is a fun read, and it was lovely writing my thoughts on it here! I suppose now we can go back to actual discussion of normal things, though :PWhat’s the favorite thing you’ve done this summer?

AmethystGuestDarn, one of my comments didn’t go through… maybe this will make it appear?

running in circles around the lampost, if that counts *smiles*Hi Amethyst! How are you doing?
Yep, school has begun, and I’m taking very hard classes so I really need to manage my time wisely and start writing and thinking and organizing thoughts 2-4 times faster than I usually do, which is overall a really good thing and something I need to learn sooner rather than later (so I have the time to write everything I yearn to write:D)
the P&P movie has been on my list of things to watch for a while:) Haven’t got to it yet, though. Yeah I agree! I really liked reading and discussing with you:D
My favorite thing I did this summer was write nonsense literature:D or maybe it’s just nonsensical fantasy…Idk. Whatever it is, it’s the improvised style of writing that comes most naturally to me besides poetry with ABCB rhyme schemes (I always gravitate to ABCB, unless I’m writing freeverse. I don’t know why). What was your favorite thing of this summer?
-
AmethystGuest*giggles*
in Mr. Tumnus' caveHellooo! :DI’m doing fine – I’m going to miss summer, partly because of vacation and partly because summer is just so niceee in multiple ways, but oh well. Yeah, I should also really get more practice with being organized… I’m glad you’re able to get it :)I’m so glad that you like your classes, too! I’m looking forward to some of mine – I’m going to be taking some design-related ones which look really interesting, and I’m going to be reading more Shakespeare (yay!!) and some other ~great classics~. What’s your favorite class so far?
It’s sure to be literature! I usually do free verse, but when I try to rhyme it almost never comes out neatly… it’s amazing that you can do it. I don’t think I could pick one favorite thing from this summer, but I managed to write a lot, which was wonderful, and spend some time with my family. We went to a park some way away from where we live, where we’ve gone every summer since I was about three years old, and it was so beautiful – it’s large and partly wooded, and there’s a very special quality to it. Or maybe it’s because I have so many happy memories attached to it:)

AmethystGuesttopping :)Don’t worry about answering soon – I just feel like this should be higher on TM :))

LyricGuestsomewhereHi Amethyst:)
How are you doing? Are you enjoying your design-related and classics classes (yay alliteration)? My favorite class this year is either dance (it makes me so happy) or a class that’s (basically) free time to write poetry (which-also-makes-me-happy-I-love-poetry-I-don’t-know-how-I’m-going-to-remember-how-to-write-prose-fiction-when-the-time-comes) 😀 I’m writing about two-three poems a week now and playing with meter and rhyme scheme and ambiguity and imagery:) also I conjectured there weren’t many poetry magazines to submit poems to, but I did some research yesterday and from the looks of it there are actually a LOT. so that’s cool
That park sounds just wonderful:D What do you do there?
Oh btw I watched a BBC show for Pride and Prejudice with Rora and my mom a while ago (eventually I’ll watch the movie too lol)! I don’t watch TV very often at all so it really disrupted my tight schoolwork schedule, but I think it was worth it. Very odd though–in my opinion the camera focused too much on Mr. Darcy doing and saying basically nothing of interest. I guess it just wasn’t something I thought about in the book. Oh, also Mr. Collins was very awkward and kept talking about Lady Catherine’s windows or fireplace or smth, and Lydia was somehow less irritating than on paper. Oh, and Mrs. Bennet had a very shrill voice and particular way of emphasizing her words which suited her very well.
And…now I have to return to my homework (pages and pages to dig through to find rhetorical strategies. I have to use verbs to express them, rather than just naming the rhetorical device. I can’t go on cruise control for that sigh):/ But before I do, just want to say–if I leave I’ll give notice months in advance if I get the chance which I most likely will. *tears up* I don’t like to think about leaving.

AmethystGuestMoor House :`)Hello :DD
I’m doing pretty well, and yes, I’m enjoying my classes – so far this year’s school has been interesting, which is lovely :DI finished the first part of my design class, which lived up to expectations (hurray); it was very practical and precise rather than vague and theoretical, thank goodness. And for my classics, I just finished reading Jane Eyre at last!!, so I can finally discuss it too. It was way darker and more dramatic than I thought it would be – I was expecting something more along the lines of Jane Austen and typical romance novels of that era – and I feel like it could have been much better, but the writing in itself was definitely superb. Ooh dance, that’s so nice!!! And poetry sounds wonderful too :DOddly enough, I sometimes feel like I’ve forgotten how to write poetry (though I never actually have to date, thank goodness); I should probably write more… Yes, there are tons of magazines that accept work! There’s a site called Newpages that has an amazing list of tons of magazines and contests, with a section for young writers, and it’s useful as a launching place from which one can do one’s own investigations.
It is :DWe usually do a sort of day trip thing there, so we eat a meal there and hike around. It has easily walkable (?) paths, so one can just wander around and enjoy the scenery (:
Huh… Maybe it was just to emphasize that he was indeed there, since he isn’t terribly talkative (in the book at least):P It sounds good, though! Maybe I should give it a try. I love the thought of Mr. Collins talking about Lady C’s windows XD
Yikes, good luck with homework – things do get more intense the older one gets, sadly :/ And oh dear I hate to think of you leaving too– you’re so amazing and I love having the chance to talk with you and be your friend, and the CB wouldn’t be the same at all without you :(( At least we do hopefully have at least a few months left? And hopefully many more… I hope things will sort themselves out and you’ll be happy with your decision either way, though <3
Aaand this has already been several days in the writing so I’d better just post it… I hope you keep enjoying your schoolwork and that it doesn’t get tOo heavy! Oh, and happy Halloween in advance – are you doing anything for it this year? I, alas, think I’m not really, aside from dispensing candy to others (and having a bit myself, I expect, purely in the ~spirit of the season~ because I might as well take advantage :P)

LyricGuestHi Amethyst, Happy early-ish Thanksgiving! How have you been lately?
Ooh that’s great when things are precise:) What did you learn in your design class so far?
I felt like the dialogue in Jane Eyre, and just the plot in general, was a lot more romantic (and yeah maybe dramatic too) than Pride and Prejudice (actually just watched the 2005 P&P movie last night, and it felt a little rushed compared to the BBC show but it was good).
Ooh cool thanks! I’ll check it out sometime.
Aw thank you, you’re amazing too! I’m not going to leave at the end of this year. I might keep disappearing from CB a lot though. I feel like I’ve been on an unannounced and permanent hiatus, but I’m losing track of time as always.
Thank you! schoolwork feels a lot more intimidating than it is right now and I’m working on it a lot over Thanksgiving break because otherwise I’ll have to do everything the week it’s due, late at night when I’m tired from the school day
I dressed up as a My Little Pony character:) what kind of candy do you like best? sweet, sour, or both?
The RP is no longer on the front page:(
-
AmethystGuestLikewise! I’ve been doing pretty well – a bit busy, and nothing special has been happening, but fine in other respects :)) How’ve you been?
So far, it’s mostly been about lovely things like color palettes and color contrasts and the steps of developing a project. There’s also a bit about typography and the things that make a typeface interesting, which is very nice :]
Yeah, it’s a lot more passionate and intense and ~romantic~ than Jane Austen’s novels; it’s amazing how many different styles were surfacing at that time.
YAYYYYYY *throws confetti* (…again – I should probably update the Confetti Count when I have time :P) Time is hard to keep track of… Don’t feel pressured to be on here a lot if that doesn’t work for you, but I’m super happy that we’ll at least be able to keep in touch :DDD
I’m also going to be working on schoolwork over Thanksgiving to keep up – it makes for less work later. Are you planning anything particular for Thanksgiving?
Ooh, fun! I’d probably be on the sweet side, since basically I’m a Chocolate Person~ It’s kind of irritating how candy is almost always milk chocolate instead of dark chocolate, though :/ What about you?
I know:| I just realized that a Moondrop post is in order… since Moon Wolf seems consistently interested and more people might join now that it’s had a bit of a break, it’s definitely worth reviving it. I’ll try to post soon:)

TopoisomeraseGuestappearing briefly
stem cellHi Amethyst, Happy Halloween!!
I dressed up today and went trick-or-treating w/ friends (key words: with friends. otherwise I’d feel very odd towering over all the little kids walking around):D it was fun
and then I told myself I’d do an hour of schoolwork tonight but I got sadly distracted organizing candy (choosing half to give away haha), and then took too long reading a source I need for an essay, so I barely got anything else done:/ it’s a good thing there’s the weekend for that
-
AmethystGuestkindled sunriseHelloo, and happy Halloween to you too!
Ooh nice! What did you dress up as (if you want to share – if not, it’s totally fine)? A couple of groups of kids claimed candy from me, and I’ve been starting to finish up the remains, which is nice :))
Distractions are terrible :/ But I agree, hooray for weekends! Hope you manage to advance on schoolwork <3

LyricGuesthm...how about always Christmas and never winter? doesn't quite make sense but I do sing carols all year round and was wearing a short sleeved shirt yesterdayMerry Christmas, Amethyst!
How are you doing? Are you feeling better? *hugs* I read your posts on RT/T, and I’m sad to hear that you feel lonely and depressed and uncertain about the future:(
For Thanksgiving I did schoolwork, albeit not enough of it (one of my classmates used albeit a few weeks ago and so I’m enthralled with albeit and it may become one of my favorite words now) and talked to most of my family members and surprised myself by singing impromptu karaoke and dancing. What are you doing for Christmas/winter break/the holidays in general? My family is hosting a Christmas family gathering and gift exchange, and I hope to be writing poetry and researching stuff.
I like sweet candy best:) Oh yes, it’s very annoying that chocolate is always milk chocolate, when actually the (ahem) best chocolate is dark chocolate. On a side note, my family discovered raw unfiltered honey the other day at a Grocery Outlet and it’s incredibly delicious so now I’m considering writing a poem about it and combining that with a verse from a Psalm talking about God’s laws and words being sweeter than honey. Also. Stars. The other day I saw the night sky without light pollution for the first time in ages and so that’s another thing I think I’ll write a poem about.
-
AmethystGuestwith Santa!
which is Narnian hahaha >:)Merry Christmas
:DAnd thank you so much! I am feeling better just at present; I think partly my feelings are probably due to this thing of Being A Teenager and therefore not being sure where I fit into the big scheme of things… I might be doing a high school internship over the summer, though, which would hopefully be fun! And the present has gotten merrier, it being Christmas and all, so I’ve been feeling much less adrift. The CB is also so good at making me feeling better <33Eee albeit is such a nice word, and it sounds so medieval <3 For Christmas and winter break we’ve been watching a ton of movies – we got around to watching Freakier Friday (twice, if the truth be told), and it was hilarious XD Have you watched it or the first one, Freaky Friday? I’d very much recommend them, if you haven’t – they’re very very good. I also got to see my grandparents, and of course there was present-opening :)I am, alas, the proprietor of more small, beautiful notebooks than I know what to do with at this point… I also got a very adorable bunny calendar for 2026, which ensures that I’ll be going “awww it has paws!! Pluff it’s so cute” for the whole year, lol. And I’ve been writing a bit more!!, which is so nice. How have your holidays been going?
Dark chocolate and honey and whee! Actually, honey is such an oddly good subject for a poem – how on earth did I never consider that before? Noooo don’t get me started on stars I love the stars so much and I’ll talk about them forever– Once I saw something which might have been the Orion constellation, and it looked so much like the actual outline of a person, but it was enormous because it was in the sky. And it was just like good hEAVENS imagine believing that it was actually someone immortalized in the stars, because it was so beautiful and celestial and it almost made sense that it would have been. In general, I write way too much poetry about the sky and think about it far too often :p
