CaseyParticipantCamp LumiDay 1, Part 3:
~~~
Aura led Lynx to the porch, chatting excitedly about what would happen tomorrow.
“So, after we eat breakfast, we’ll go to our cabins to have a run through on things to look out for, and then we’ll go back outside to have free-time and play games. After that, everyone will go to their different activities for the afternoon. Casey has figured it all out so that everyone will still be with their buddy all day. Anyways, that night after dinner, we will go to the Barn and have a special campfire-marshmallow-welcome thing that Casey, Patience, Laika, Nicholas, and me have all prepared.”
“Sounds interesting!” Lynx said, grinning.
“I loved to get it just right for you all!” It will seem… magical.” Aura whispered. A bush rustled to their right, and an orange something stuck out.
“Um,” Aura laughed nervously, “Maybe we should keep walking.” She pushed Lynx to the porch.
When they had been seated on the benches outside the Mess Hall’s doors, Lynx patted Aura’s arm. She had gotten nervous and alert.
“What’s wrong?” she whispered. Aura looked over at Lynx.
“Sometimes,” she sighed. “ I’m worried the magic will come too early.”
Lynx had just enough time to say “What?” when Casey burst out of the door and drummed her fingers on her clipboard. “I have an announcement,” Her nervous eyes glanced around. “Patience, Aura, Nicholas, and Laika will have to stay out here before they eat. Everyone else may go ahead in.” She opened the double doors to the Mess Hall and waved them in.
Aura had slightly blanched, Lynx noticed, but she smiled to her and beckoned for her to go inside. “Go and save me a spot. I’ll be in there soon.”
So, though against Lynx’s better judgement, she went inside with the other confused campers.
“What do you think is happening?”
This question was on every camper’s mind, but no one dared to say it. The counselors were all very on edge as they ate the spaghetti and meatballs the cooks had prepared. Hawkstar, who had been glancing around the Mess Hall and at the door for her buddy to return, sighed and listened in to the counselors conversation at her table.
“Ophelia told me she keeps seeing things. She says there are rumors about them coming early.” Tate Perdu said shoving an extra big bite of spaghetti in his mouth.
“That’s weird.” Emma Parks said thoughtfully. “Don’t they do it on the second day?”
“Maybe they sense something.” Tate noticed Hawkstar’s eyes widening slightly. “Your name is Hawkstar, right?” She nodded, and Tate went on. “You want to know something?” she nodded again. “Things are about to get interesting around here.” He winked and ate an especially big meatball. Emma smacked his arm playfully in mock protest.
“Don’t spill the beans just yet!”
“Speaking of beans, I overheard that the cooks are planning on making baked beans on the Friday…”
Hawkstar thought over what Tory had said. Who were ‘they’? Or what were they?
AmeliaParticipantWhere am I?I have a probably obvious question (the answer is obvious not the question). Where am I during these parts? Like I said, the answer is probably obvious, I just can't see it
Hopfully helpfulI am going to try to do every camper at some point, so to answer your question: you are currently with all the other campers in the Mess Hall eating spaghetti and meatballs, wondering what's happening with Patience, Aura, Nicholas, and Laika.
…
But to be more specific: if your do not see your name mentioned, you are most likely with the other campers, unless specified otherwise.
Casey @Moon WolfParticipantCamp LumiDay 1, Part 4:
~~~
Casey led the campers to the Covered Campfire, which looked like a large barn, and quickly got everyone’s attention.
“Tonight, we have for your entertainment a show that the counselors have collaborated!” Casey paused for the cheering and clapping. “The show will go on for about two to three hours and then we’ll head to the cabins for bedtime routine and lights out.” She smiled and gestured to a door on the far side of the barn-like building. “So, without further ado, let us welcome the counselors!”
The campers jumped up and cheered as the counselors entered the center around the campfire.
“Aren’t you guys excited?” Patience said when the cheering had died out. This roused yet another round clapping and cheering. “Alright,” she laughed. “Here's what I ask: if you are called during the show run down here and say something– anything! Now then, on with the show!"
Patience did a sudden backflip, and yodeled several notes, during which the rest of the counselors ran out in elaborate suit and dresses, cartwheeling, dancing, four of them even juggling, causing everyone to scream and laugh. Once everyone had calmed down, Natalie Torch stepped up on stage, who was dressed in a black jumpsuit with her dark hair hanging down, and began in a slow, wary, musical tone:
"Tonight, we warn you to witness
Things that can leave you breathless."
When she stopped, Natalie blew onto her fingertips little flames of fire, each burning with a different color from red to violet. In the hush of awe, she beckoned Penelope Treks over, dressed in an entire ballet leotard with an erect tutu, and gently tapped the ballet shoes on Penelope's feet. The shoes lit up as the flames spread out all over, slowly wrapping themselves up the ribbons around her ankles in a beautiful crackling tie-dye. Bowing as Natalie backed up off the stage, Penelope got up to en pointe and began to dance to exciting piano music being played vigorously from the direction of the stage. She did several leaps and spins until finally, as the music sped up, she just began to seem like a blur in the center. She seemed to leap out on the stage to a kneel and stopped with the music, causing everyone to jump out of their seats and cheer wildly. Quietly, Penelope raised her hand for silence. In the stillness, she called in a clear voice, "I call upon Moon Wolf to come over!"
Moon Wolf stepped carefully up to the stage. She slowly made their way beside Penelope who bent at the middle and whispered in her ear.
“Say something generous.” She said and patted her shoulder. Nervous, Moon Wolf took a deep breath and said loud and clear: (@Moon Wolf, you can choose what to say!)
