Hey all! So,

Chatterbox: Blab About Books

Book Recommendations!
Hey all! So,...

Hey all! So, summer is here and I have nothing to read! Oh, the cruel irony of life: I stay up 'til midnight reading on a school night, but now I have time to read and no new books! Ah, horror! Hopefully I'll get to the library soonish, so does anyone have any recommendations? I like fantasy and fiction best, but really I'll read pretty much anything. Thank you! :)

Here are all the recommendations already on here that I'm endorsing because I'm too lazy to think of stuff off the top of my head:

Out of My Mind, by Sharon M. Draper. I first read this book in 4th or 5th grade, and I've read it many times since. In fact, it was an assigned book this year, so I just recently reread it. It's very dear to my heart. It's about a girl with cerebal palsy so she can't communicate, but she's a genuis with photographic memory. She feels stifled...until something happens at school that gives her a life-changing opportunity.

I Am Princess X, by Cherie Priest. THIS IS A VERY GOOD BOOK. I've read it many times. Mystery, action, a bit of cyberthrill (which I'm not always a fan of but I love it!), and comedy too. And sentimental moments. No romance. But friendship stuff. It's really good! And did I mention suspenseful?

Heartless is good. If you like Marissa Meyer (like the Lunar Chronicles series), Alice and Wonderland, and romance, then this book is for you. It made me cry!

A Mango Shaped Space is pretty good too. I love Wendy Mass.

The Lunar Chronicles.

*deep breath*

AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA

THIS IS ONE OF MY FAVORITE SERIES OF ALL TIME I LOVE IT SO MUCH I JUST CAN'T EVEN. ACK!

I just ranted about it on another book reccommendation thread...when it posts I will copy and paste the rant here.

ITS SO GOOD READ IT READ IT READ IT READ IT

The Book Thief by Markus Zusak: AMAZING BOOK!!!!!!!!!! It is one of the best books of all time!! I don't really know if I can do a summary, but just read it. It will change your life.

Note: I wouldn't recommend it to younger kids cause there is a lot of swearing (mostly in German) and a tiny bit of content.

Counting by Sevens by Holly Goldberg Sloan: Oh my goodness you have to read this book. It's about a girl who is a genius and her parents die and she has to rebuild her life and IT IS SO AWESOME READ IT!!!!!

The Looking Glass Wars by Frank Beddor: This one's a bit weird. It's basically like the "true" story of Wonderland. It has murder, adventure, and romance. It wasn't the best book trilogy I've ever read, but it was still pretty good. Rather confusing.

Eragon by Christopher Paolini: You've probably already heard of this one, but it's still really good. Definitely need a lot of time to read it because the books are huge. Also, if violence isn't your thing, don't read it. The whole series is basically just a huge war. Still, I really enjoyed it. It can be super boring though.

Oh my Gandalf I LOVE Counting by Sevens and The Book Thief!! I could ramble on for hours, but I'm sure you guys have no interest in that :)

My rec:

The Lions of Little Rock/ Kristen Levin - This is a great book taking place in the 50s in Little Rock AK during teh Civil Rights Era. It's about a light black girl who fakes being white and is admitted to a white school and becomes friends with a white girl there. The white girl, Marlee, learns later on that she is black. It is such a good book!!

Ahhh yes, The Book Thief! I've read that one and loved it! I teared up, but I loved it. It's such a unique book, isn't it? I've read Eragon, but I ought to reread it. I barely remember what happens past the basic plot, to be honest. It's been so long! Thanks for the other recommendations, too! Are you new here? If so, welcome! If not... hello!

Have you ever noticed that Eragon is Star Wars A New Hope but with dragons.

A young farm boy named Eragon/Luke finds a dragon egg/some droids and takes them to an old hermit named Brom/Obi Wan who tells him about an order of knights called the Dragon Riders/Jedi. Eragon/Luke late finds that servants of the evil government called Ra'zac/Stormtroopers have killed his uncle and decides to leave with Brom/Obi Wan to rescue a princess called Arya/Leia who is imprisoned by the evil government. Along the way, Eragon/Luke begins to train as a Dragon Rider/Jedi and use their Magic/Force powers. Eragon/Luke manages to rescue Princess Ary/Leia but along the way, Brom/Obi Wan dies saving them. They than join up with the Varden/Rebel Allaince, a rebel faction trying to overthrow the evil government for a final battle.

It also borrows all the Lord of the Rings tropes. All of them. Aloof, superhuman elves, dwarves who live in mountains, humans, a psedo-medieval setting, magic.

Awesome! Hello and welcome to the CB! I hope you have a great time, and if you have any questions, just ask. You will get more than enough replies! Wow, how long has Kyngdom been here? I haven't really paid that much attention to it, but has it really been around for years? Cool!

SKULDUGGERY PLEASENT!!!

It's sooo good! The cover may look a bit creepy but the story is really funny. The character personalities are amazing and the plotline is really cool. The author is Derek Landy.
