Fablehaven
Fablehaven is a...

Fablehaven is a bizarre fantasy series written by Brandon Mull.  It's mostly about two kids, Kendra and Seth, whose grandfather runs a fairy preserve. Eventually, they discover a plot to free ancient demos from a prison and many characters try to stop them. There are 4 books now, and one coming soon. The four out now are Fablehaven, Rise of the Evening Star, Grip of the Shadow Plague, and Secrets of the Dragon Sanctuary. There are manymany characters and I'm going to post a breif cast list, with my awesomeness ratings 1 to 10 (1 is lowest). (Koffee reads these books, and can vouch for their awesomeness.)

I'd miss Wing, but it was a bit forced to keep him alive. And just for the record, I think that the suggested WingxShelby is as stupid as EragonxArya or PercyxRachel or FirepawxSpottedleaf. In other words, monumentally stupid. Did someone mention KendraxGavin. No, actually I said monumentally stupid. Easy mistake.

"The Ring chooses you..."

Thus, Bilbo and/or Frodo= CO. No?

I only read the first Ender book too, and I liked it, but Ender was kind of... weird. I preferred Peter. And Graff...

Really? You didn't like Bastian? I thought he was a good character.

Definitely more Kendra than Seth. She's waaay more annoying, too.

The series does make up for Otto's chosenness... though *technically*, we don't exactly know why he's the CO yet. They never actually *say*, they just talk about how Otto has been chosen for this purpose, or that... or whatever. Should memory serve, anyway...?

Oh yeah, Fablehaven. ...yeah. That's right... Believe it or not, there's no waiting list whatsoever at my library for the newest one. Of course, before getting any new books I should probably pay back my enormous fines... *cough*

Haha, Reuben. :) You're funny.

And yes, I 'gree about ShelbyxWing. What was with this scene?:

Shelby: "You know, you're kinda cute when you're angry."

Wing: "Then I can honestly say I have never been cuter."

>_> I mean, what was the point there?

LauraxOtto is stupid too. Buuut, NeroxRaven is not. :) NeroxRaven, though virtually nonexistent except in my mind, that is not stupid at all.

Ugh. I agree, also. I think that unless it's absolutely neccesary, fantsy/sci-fi books should not have romance in them. I'm completely goinb back on the whole "me liking Twilgiht" thing...

@ Mary: I'm still waiting for the last one... HUGE library waiting list, actually. I might just break down and make my mom get it on Ebay or Amazon. :I

@ MaryLiz: OttoxLaura? Why ruin a perfectly fine character (Laura) with such a horrible premise? Although come to think of it, Laura is a bit of a Sue. But she's still one of my favorites (way after Nero, of course). We should really start a new thread for HIVE discussion. I'll do so now, and we can switch back to Fablehaven here.

Getting back to FH now that there is a HIVE thread...

How would one respond to a little sister stating she doesn't want to read them because "they sound boring"? Reuben, Mathilda, any other wayward readers of this thread, any brilliant counterarguments?

"It has giant toad demons and poison dragons! How can it be boring?"

or if your situation is similar to mine...

"But it has sparkling fantasy critters! Your favorite!" :P

*grin* I'll try both.

*walks away to hunt down Maggie*

...in response to those two nuggets of wisdom, my pop-culturized lil' sister skipped away singing, "That's just weeee-ird!"

*headdesk*

She thinks toad-demons are weird? How dare she... tell her that it has an evil witch/hag thingy that lives in the forest, maybe? Or maybe that there are nice little fairies in it? ((You can purposely "forget" to mention that the faires are actually very self centered and turn into turantula-thingys when left inside overnight...)

When eight-year-old girls prefer Miley Cyrus over toad demons, I swear it makes you wonder what this world is coming to. ;)

She looked at the cover, you know, with Muriel on it 'n' all, and says, "Whoa, that's SCARY." She doesn't like the evil witch/hag thingies either...

What a strange sister I have...

Aww, don't feel to bad. After all, if you ever become an evil scientist, you can use her to do expirements on. *steals idea for self*

I'm half joking there.

Eh, I was leaning more towards evil Necromancer than evil scientist. *is maybe one quarter joking* ;)

How old's your sister?

She's soon to be 5.

*is honestely not joking there* Seriously.
