Chatterbox: Down to Earth

Hi, kids. I'm

Hi, kids. I'm bored, tired, and interested in seeing what you guys are up to.

Who is here? What are your interests? What are the things concerning you in this day and age?

Thanks for responding.

Captcha says omom. Ohhh mamaaaaaaa oooooooooh didn't mean to make you crrrryyyyy....

You started a war, Owl? I'm proud of you. I haven't met Feather. What's he like, besides the opposite of Devil Owl?

Gandalf is very Gandalf. If you get the chance, find an English copy online of The Last Ringbearer. It's sort of poorly written, but it has a very interesting concept of LotR being written by the victors. Gandalf is wonderfully evil in it. The Hobbit movies are terrible, so I don't blame your parents, but when you finish these books, do see the original trilogy. It's really, really fantastic. I would argue them to be Jackson's best films.

Oh wow. I bet you're awesome at baseball now, and you could kick my butt in soccer too. Defender is best position! In PE, I'm a fellow defender. *high fives*

Feather's... a grammar fanatic. She reads dictionaries and theosauruses for fun, is pretty cowardly, and not insane at all. Basically a much more nerdy version of me. But, well, she's an AE at heart.

Oh, I would like to see an evil Gandalf. Very formidable.

Ahh. Maybe, maybe not. I'm not so excellent really xD  Although I'm okay in soccer (if I do say so myself). *high fives back*

Oh, sorry for calling Feather a boy. She sounds very nice. I'm glad you enjoy her.

Hmm, he's not very formiddable yet, but I'm still in Part one because I haven't had a surfeit of free time with my computer recently, and it's not available in English in book format. Bleh. I look forward to the weekend. Do you have any weekend plans?

My grandparents are coming over, which is much more rare than it sounds-- to be honest, I'm still waiting for them to phone and say they've changed their mind. But besides that, not really. Watch some Sherlock, probably, and get started with And Then There Were None.

Ruben sandwich! Hello. I am well. The college film I told you about a while back was a success - it went to regionals, but we still don't know if it actually placed. Either way, I think it turned out nicely. I also recently made an "I'm back"/introductory thread on DtE, if you wanna hop on over and check it out. Here's the link: http://www.cricketmagkids.com/chatterbox/downtoearth/node/202275

So how are you doing as of late? Any unexpected happenings? UFO sightings? Nuclear explosions? Please feel free to share.

Nora .... s'mora....? I don't have a food name for you yet. Shame, that.

Excellent! Great job. When are you going to get the placement results?

What's this particular acting workshop about? I don't think you had started it the last time I saw you.

Nothing much has been happening. I'm on medication and doing okay. Over the past few months, there has been relatively little drama, which is good. It's nice not to have to rely on other people. I didn't see any UFOs, but I'll keep on the lookout for you.

Captcha says brrh. It's enjoying winter.

Hey Ruby, good to see you around here again. I was actually wondering just the other day how you are since I hadn't heard from you in awhile. I'm glad to hear from you.

The Ruby speaks! California snow has finally come for the first time in three years but yeahhhh that doesn't mean much. Icy and slushy at once doesn't exactly equal snow. And it doesn't count unless it plops down in your backyard! I live in hope though... ski season isn't quite over yet.

<jazz hands> Responding now! </jazz hands>

Hi, kids: Well, hello to you too.

You're bored: Want to share some of my homework? WWI is interesting in fiction but boring in USH.

You're tired: Oooh, that stinks. Consider us all sharing your pain, hopefully. And good luck.

You're interested: See below.

Who is here: Well, I am, for one. Hi again.

Interests: Reading WW1 fiction and complaining about school and Catholic high school applications.

Things concerning: Worrisome state of the world we're inheriting,  notable lack of genetically engineered puppy-sized elephants, need for Catholic high school application acceptances

My HTML is pretty whacked-out so apologies for incorrect synax. Blame the curriculum that only teaches Pascal.

Wait, it snowed? Seriously? I missed that. Where, up by Truckee?

Hello, hello, hello.

Yeah, sure. What's your homework? Share away. I'll give you fake answers.

What WWI fiction ahve you picked up? That's right, you're starting high school next year if I remember correctly. Good luck.

I'll say it's worrisome all right. Puppy-sized elephants might be an issue. If they became too small to defend from predators, they would either all die out or quickly evolve into a species far surpassing our own intelligence. Then they would inslave us to pull logs as we once did to them.

Have you watched Codegirl? It's a documentary about these teams that try to solve a problem in their community by creating an app, and then compete against each other and the winning team gets to have the app on the app store. The only reason I'm mentioning this is because one of the teams is named puppy-sized elephants. They try to make an app to help people with a condition that I forgot the name of... anyway, the condition prevents people from being able to count money or translate coins into numbers, which makes it hard for them to live independently. The app helps them count money and pay for items.

Oh, great, it happened again. Sorry, I have a tendancy to reccomend media, mostly books, to people without introducing myself or commenting in a cilivilized manner. And I'm continuing it my talking about this.

My name is Bibliophile, although my given name isn't Bibliophile, it's Olivia. Bibliophile is more accurate than an olive tree or a rich Shakespearen countess, though, and a lot more fun to say. Anyway, bibliophile is a peson with a great love of books. I found the word in the Letterbox, which is, if youv'e forgotten, the place in the Cricket magazine where the letters from the readers are. I love to read, obviously, and I like to sing, ice skate, swim, and act. I have a pretty boring life in general. I came on Cricket last year in early October.

Side notes:

1. Elephants are very kind, so I agree that if they were puppy-sized, they'd probably evolve into even more intelligent species, but hopefully they'd forgive our ancestors?

2. The previous comment was in no way meant to condone animal cruelty.

3. I also don't particularly enjoy being called a kid, but it's not really such a big deal. My only issue is it's somewhat condescending.

I love documentaries. I wish I had some free time, then I would watch it for sure. According to Google, it's dyscalculia- the mathematic version of dyslexia. Their app is a cool concept, for sure.

Heh. I do the same. Want to recommend me some good books?

What have you acted in? Do you sing for fun or sing in a choir?

1. To be honest, many elephants still pull logs today, so who knows. Neanderthals and other early hominids were also kind- they worked together to take care of young and honored the dead, much like elephants do. Who knows if vastly intelligent elephants could become cruel.

2. In many cases, it's not cruel. Elephant owners take very good care of their elephants and make sure the elephants wear padding under their harnesses to prevent burns. Although they have to do labor, they are usually rewarded well and taken care of humanely.

3. Oh, I'm sorry. I call everyone under 18 a kid (also I call young goats that), so I'll keep that you don't like it in mine. Everyone here is a Fellow Minor and Good Person, except for Savvy, who is a Good Goat Kid. The best goat.
