POLITICS

Anyone interested in any kind of political discussion?  Who do you want to win the election?  Who do you think will be McCain's VP choice?  What do you think of the candidates?

Sorry if you don't live in the US!!!

I think you were a little unfair to President Bush. I agree he hasn't always made the right decisions, but things could have gone a lot, LOT worse. I think he's done a good job keeping our country from major disasters, and that sometimes we look too much at the negative side of things.

Obomaobamaobamaobamaoboma.

I support Obama. He's something new, fresh. He wants to end the war. He wants good health care. He will take a stand against climate change. He will bring good education to our lives. A lot of McCain supporters say that the main reason they don't like Obama is because he is inexpierienced. But look at the vice president that the Republicans chose. It's time we let a new voice be heard.

Dearest Emily, I really disagreed with your letter about politics being a grownup thing. Kids are the future. We have every reason to discuss this race. We live here. This is our world.

Barack Obama is the scary one.
When John McCain talks about the war on terror, he's trying to protect
America from terrorist attacks. We shouldn't just let ourselves be
attacked by terrorists. That would be scary. Sarah Palin is a
good VP choice for John McCain. They are both pro-life. The unborn people in our
nation are just as important as the ones who are already born.

Let me quote an e-mail from MoveOn Political Action: "[Palin] was elected Alaska's governor a little over a year and a half ago. Her previous office was mayor of Wasilla, a small town outside Anchorage. She has no foreign policy experience....

"She supported right-wing extremist Pat Buchanan for president in 2000.
"Palin thinks creationism should be taught in public schools.
"She doesn't think humans are the cause of climate change.
"She's solidly in line with John McCain's 'Big Oil first' energy policy. She's pushed hard for more oil drilling and says renewables won't be ready for years. She also sued the Bush administration for listing polar bears as an endangered species—she was worried it would interfere with more oil drilling in Alaska.
"How closely did John McCain vet this choice? He met Sarah Palin once at a meeting. They spoke a second time, last Sunday, when he called her about being vice-president. Then he offered her the position."

Come on!!! Palin has NO foreign policy experience, and barely any political experience.  Is this who you want to lead the country??  McCain is 72, for goodness sake!

I'm not exactly against creationism, but I think that kids should be given a choice which side they want to support.  And please, don't start more creationism arguments.  Keep those on their page.

And, please don't start another global warming thing.  If you want to say something about that keep it on its page.

Hannah R., is there anything wrong with Pat Buchanan? And why shouldn't creationism be taught in public schools? Evolution, which is only a theory, is taught, so it only seems fair that both sides of the issue shoud be presented. Sarah Palin isn't the only one who thinks that humans don't cause climate change. Many scientists admit that although there is climate change, it isn't necessarily caused by humans, or that it could be a cycle. Renewable energy sources would be great, but the truth is they probably won't be ready for years. How well does Barack Obama really know Joe Biden? Most presidents and their VP choices aren't best friends for years before they run together. Sarah Palin won't lead the country. She will help John McCain, who is very experienced, lead the country. And if we're going to talk about experience, at least Sarah Palin has held two different types of leadership postions, mayor and govenor. On the other hand, Barack Obama has not held any leadership positions. John McCain served in the military and has plenty of foreign policy experience.

"Evolution, which is only a theory, is taught..." Only a theory? If you read the creation vs. evolution thread you will know that a theory is the highest level of science.

Hey,

I just want to say everyone up here in Alaska is celebrating about Palin!!! McCain is sure to get the vote up here. Also Palin is everything Clinton wasn't. She really worked her way up the chain from hockey mom to Macain's running mate. She was a good choice for MacCain mainly because she will help him gain support from the old Hillary fans.

I think it would be cool if Palin were to become our Vice President, but really I don't think she is ready.

She isn't.

And I don't think she'll be getting very many Hillary supporters.

Ahem... What about the Polar Bears?!?

The children who are born not wanted have a really hard childhood. I was a foster child (until I was adopted 5 years ago), and know what's it's like not being wanted. I was one of the lucky ones to be adopted by a great new mom and dad, and to be adopted by anybody. I still have lots of friends in the "system".

Anais, I'm very happy that you were adopted by a good family!

Polar bears are important, but I think that the president should focus more attention on humans than on animals.
