Chatterbox: Down to Earth

In the center

In the center of CB Square, two AEs sit side by side on a bench.

One of them is slumped over the railing, supported only by his hand. A gray dog ear sprouts from his head, flopping over his sleeping face. The other is sat bolt-upright on the bench, his polished black shoe tapping on the street as he looks out across CB Square, a slight scowl on his face. He waits a moment as the other AE snores quietly, then bursts out suddenly.

"Look at that!" he snaps, gesturing to the other AEs as they romp around.

"Huh? Whuzzat?" his brother snorts, jerking up with eyes still half-closed in sleep. He turns to the other AE, whose dark violet eyes are slitted in annoyance.

"All those... other AEs!"

His brother smiles in hesitant disbelief, not quite understanding what he's hearing. "...you gotta problem with them?" The purple AE shakes his head as if he's astounded by his brother's idiocy.

"Argh, no, but... I mean, there's just so many of them! With this new influx of CBers--"

"--influx, nice word," the dog-eared AE adds in.

"--I can't keep track of them all! And let's be real, 8, we haven't exactly been the best with meeting every AE that pops into existence. I really do need to know what some of them are up to." The other AE scratches his head, admitting the truth. "So you know what I have decided?"

"What is it, Mew?" 8-Piece asks, rolling his eyes. MewFour paused for a moment, building up the dramatic tension.

"We," he said. "Are holding an AE RP."

"Another?" 8-Piece groans, shifting his position on the bench. "Isn't there, like, one on Inkwell already?"

"Perhaps there's anoher school; I didn't see," MewFour said, waving the comment off. "What I mean," he grinned, turning to face 8-Piece. "Is that we hold an RP of the best kind. The most interesting kind. And we hold it at a manor."

"Eww--"

"That's by the sea."

8-Piece pauses for a moment, thinking. "...I'm listening. What are we doing there, though?"

"Oh, you know, the usual," MewFour says. "Socializing, eating, allowing those other AEs to get up to shenanigans, turning the eye to the haunted and venegful souls that roam the hallway and may cause a plot centerpiece sooner or later--I got a great deal for the mansion, really. And displaying that extraordinary library that came with it!"

"*Showing Quill, *alone," 8-Piece coughs. MewFour glares at him for a second, his cheeks coloring slightly, before moving on. "And guess what? I am the host! I will run it all. Anything the AEs want to do, any questions they have, will all be directed back to me. Telekinesis can come in so handy, don't you know." MewFour snapped his fingers. The next second, two violet-glowing hands appeared, appearing to made out of pure light. "Anytime an AE desires something, they simply need to shake a hand--I can create many, many more--and with my aid, they will fetch it."

"And what do I do?" 8-Piece asked, catching onto the idea.

"You," MewFour said, clearly enjoying the anticipation. "Will cook! You can bake and confectionize, and organized and assort anything you like." 8-Piece's eyes glowed, and he leapt off the bench, hopping from one foot to the other.

"Oh, oh, and here--" One of the hands darted away and returned with a pen and paper, and MewFour hastily scribbled something down on a sheet, then handed it to 8-Piece.

"Name, Age, Appearance, Personality, Crushes or relationships, and CBer," 8-Piece murmured, reading out the sheet. "Sounds good to me! And ah, let's call it... 8-Piece and MewFour's Really Cool Ocean Manor Trip RP!"

MewFour winced slightly. "Or just: AE Masion RP."

"That works too," 8-Piece said, shrugging. "Well, come on! Let's go!" MewFour stared after his brother as he dashed into the CB Square, already attracting a crowd of curious AEs. He sighed, a rare smiling gracing his face, then followed close behind.

SRIRACHA ANDROMEDA III:I know too, but she's gone now! SO THERE! THAT'LL SHOW YOU GOSSIPERS!

ROSARIO THE REDPANDABLOSSOM: You're quite gossipy yourself.

SRIRACHA: HOW DARE-- oh you're right.

ROSARIO: [matter-of-factly, without smugness, this is just what ROSARIO is like] Yes, I know I'm right.

SRIRACHA: I know you know.

ROSARIO: I know that you know I know.

SRIRACHA: I know that you know that I know that you know. (You know, this could apply to Jack, too)

ROSARIO: Please stop.

SRIRACHA: We've just had an entire conversation about almost nothing!

ROSARIO: Wonderful.

SRIRACHA: Sarcasm scares me.

I open the door to my bedroom after getting something to eat.  Before I go in, I check on my roomslip for my roomates names, which are Halia and Basil.  Hopefully they will be my new friends!  I walk in to find they've already met together.

"Hello," I say.

"Hi, I'm Halia," one of them says. She's looking at the beautiful ocean through the window.  She's a fawn, but I assume she can shapeshift to anything she wants.  Her wings are so majestic, they make me take a sharp breath in.  She seems like she's a very nice fawn.  I can't wait to talk to her more, but I'm intruiged at my other roomate, who must be Basil.

"Uhh Hi!  I'm Estella.  You must be Basil, right?"

He replies,"Yes, I'm Basil."

He's reading what looks like a textbook, and I see many books sprawled all over his bed.  He takes a break from his book to nod a little at me, and then he goes back to reading.  He seems quiet, but nice also.  I talk to Halia more, until it starts to get darker outside.  I look to Basil, who has been reading the whole time.  I reach for a book off his bed, and he nods at me as I do it.  I look to see when he will tell me to give it back, but he never does.  I picked a sort of textbook, but it looks like an interesting and fun read.  I settle into my bed, and look foward to reading the textbook, the good food, the fun days, and the new friends I will make.

Is this too OP?

Counter~

Jammira pulls out a sketchbook and I'm about to mention that I like drawing, too, when the entire house shakes.

"What was that?" I yelp, embarressingly squeaky.

"I don't know. Let's go check it out!" Jammira says, spreading her black wings and soaring out the door. Woah... I didn't know she could actually fly with those things! For a moment I wish Cockleburr was here. She would love to see someone flying. She draws winged people all the time, I bet she would love to draw Jammira. She'd probably like her hair, too. It's so curly, and the color is like a-

"Hey, you coming, Counter?" Jammira shouts from the bottom of the stairs, jolting me out of my reverie.

"Wha- yeah, wait up! I don't have wings, remember?" I say, thumping down the stairs after her. I don't think to check if I shut the door or not.

"Yeah, yeah, just hurry it up, slowpoke!" she teases, swooping ahead. I sprint after her, pretending to try and grab at her ankles.

"Ooh, gotta be quicker than that!" she shouts, darting out of my reach. People are turning away from their video games in the arcade and books to stare at us accusingly, but for once I actually don't care that practically every AE on the CB is glaring at me. At least, I don't care as much as usual. That's an improvement.

Jammira lands gracefully on the floor, smiling ear to ear. I can tell that my smile is just as large. I'm laughing and panting for breath at the same time. Jammira finally notices everyone staring.

"Hey, guys, does anyone know what that shaking thing was?" she asks. Murmurs of 'Nope' and 'Sorry, no clue' fill the room. She shrugs.

"Ah, well. I'm sure MewFour and 8-Piece will tell us when they find out. Hey, has anyone seen Basil?"

I've been reading in my room for a long time now.  I think Halia might be asleep because it is getting late.  I decide to explore the masion at dark, which might be cool or scary, or both.  Stepping out of the room, I close the door quietly, so I don't wake Halia up.  Walking through the masion, I hear echoes of my footsteps.  The masion at dark is kind of creepy, although I get scared too much.  I look at a map.  Finding a commonroom, I start to walk there.  I sit down on a chair, and start to read the book Basil lent me.  Hopefully, he won't be too mad at me for taking it out of the room.  When I'm in the middle of the book, I feel someone tapping on it.

"What're you reading?" he asks.

I reply,"Some sort of textbook,"

I look up to find a person I've never met.  He wears a jacket with a Jaws t-shirt.  Maybe we will be friends.

Then, I ask,"Whats your name?"

"Jamie," he answers.

"I'm Estella."

Suddenly, the whole masion shakes.  Our conversation is gone, and I lose my balance..  Covering my ears, Jamie and I look around to see what happened.  Then, we see a bookshelf with books falling down.  I stand up, and run towards it.

Jamie and I try holding up the books, and rearranging them to look neat again.  Suddenly, the masion shakes again, and a door opens up right through the wall.  I see someone walking in the distance.  I wonder who it is?  The rumbling resounds through the cave, and he looks back.  He stops walking, and stares at us.  We can see who he is, and that he's alone.  What do we do now?

Jammira~

Hanging out with Counter is so much fun I nearly forget about Basil. Counter's really funny... And cute... And I thought I saw a sketchbook in his room...

But we need to find Basil.

So we go around asking anyone we can find if they saw him, or why the house was shaking. Counter's really great, pushing people to try and get the most information he can. Granted, it's not a lot, but it's great he's trying to help me find my... Would he be an adopted brother? Adopted piece of personality? AE brother?

Finally, someone says they thought they saw Basil enter the study, but he never came out. So Counter and I go in. We investigate, Counter scanning the desk and fire while I take the bookshelves. I notice that one book is crooked, so I straighten it. And then the entire house shakes again, and the wall opens up.

"Hey Counter?" I say, "I think I found something."

Basil-

I've been trudging through these dark halls forever, without any luck of finding an exit. The house shakes again, and I'm tempted to shout a warning at whoever opened the passage to not come in here. The last thing we need to do is get more people trapped in this labrynth.

A violent quake jolts me from my nap. I wake with a start, wings pinwheeling. I regain my balance, taking to the air. I'm alone in the room, and I wonder where Estella and Basil went. I zip through the open door, looking anxiously for any sign of life. Still a starling, I eventually make my way towards the library.

Thank you so much for letting us in!

Arwen~

I dump my stuff in the Gold Room, leaving Rosalyn to unpack all her things neatly. She brought so much makeup! It's going to take her a long time to get it all out of her duffel bags. As for me, I just brought my clothes, a few books--but not many, because I expect to spend most of the time socializing--and a picture of Zeon. Silly of me, since he'll be here, but I've just grown accustomed to having a picture of him by my bed.

"Bye, Rosalyn! I'll catch up with you later for dinner, okay?" I call over my shoulder. She nods without looking up. "Mmhmm." She doesn't sound too happy. I think she ate too many KitKats while we were getting here.

I set off down the hallway, admiring the old-fashioned decorations in the hallway. Then I realize I don't know how to get around. We just followed a crowd of Æs to get to our rooms--and I wasn't paying attention.

Then I remember that I have a map in the back pocket of my jeans.

Maps. Handy things.

I pull it out. To my dismay, it's blank, except for some ink smudges and dots. "What the heck--" I turn it over. It's the same there, too.

This is not good.

I fold it back up--maybe a little too violently, because it rips in half--and toss it into a corner of the hallway.

Maps. Awful things.

I count it as a chance to explore the manor, and set off down the hallway.

Half an hour later, I'm still walking. I'm still on the same hallway.

Is something wrong with the architecture of this place? Buildings should not have hallways that take you more than half an hour to walk down.

I mean, seriously.

Then I walk straight into a wall.

It's just a wall, like all the other walls in the manor. This hallway is a dead end? I walked half an hour just to come to a dead end?

"SOMEONE'S GOING TO PAY FOR THI--" Then the wall shifts before my eyes, and opens up. I catch my breath.

Against my will, I curiously step through the 'wall'. It's just black space. I can't see a thing. And it's cold--I shiver in my short-sleeve t-shirt.

I try to walk back into the hallway, but something stops me. It's like there's an invisible barrier. Then the wall starts melting back into place, like it was before.

Except I'm on the other side.

It smooths over, and everything becomes completely black.

And no one can hear my screams.

*Me~*

I finish unpacking my things and stand back to look at the room. It's not called the Gold Room for nothing. The walls are painted gold, the bedspreads are gold patchwork quilts, and there's a gold rug on the floor.

I've put all my makeup on the bedstand, right where I can find it in the morning. It always takes me about half an hour to get it all on.

But enough about makeup! I want to explore this manor.

I smear on some extra lipstick, then run out the door, and down the hall. I don't even need a map. I pretty much memorized it all when we were coming up to the rooms.

I find the library, and I can't see Arwen anywhere. "I thought she was going to be here...?" I say quietly to myself.

Some Æs look up at me.

I dash out of the room, down several rooms, and then pause. Which way....

"Aha!" I can hear various beeps and sounds of Æs shouting, "Yes!" from behind a closed door to my left.

I turn the handle and step into a room full of Æs--mainly Devil Owl, Zeon, and a few others--playing arcade and video games.

I walk through the room, flashing smiles everywhere. Then I pull Zeon aside from a game of Assassin's Creed. "Do you know where Arwen is? I can't find her anywhere." I whisper to him. "Have you seen her?"

Zeon's face lights up at the mention of her name. How I wish I could have someone like that. Then his smile fades and he shakes his head. "No."

The wall shuts behind me, and I pund on it. MAybe JAmie will hear me. Oh! that's right he went off to find whats-her-name! Darn. Not good. I stop pouding and turn around. I glimpse a white blur, and then it dissapears. What the heck was that? Something sinister is going on here... I try a small call. "Is anyone here?" Nothing. I try louder. " IS ANYONE HERE?" The house shakes and I fall to the ground. I here an "Uff!" that soundlike someone getting winded, and I walk towards the sound. Man, I wish I had Jamie's ability to brighten up a room... What am I going to tell Squaishey? This is not good. At least I know that I'm not trapped alone.

Zeon ~

My bros and I are in the middle of an Assassin's Creed championship when Rosalyn comes crashing into the arcade room, sweat beading down her face. It takes me a minute to register this is fear. I pause the game as she stumbles forward.

"Have you seen Arwen?" She asks, expression serious and hard.

I smile at her name, then it fades as I realize the situation. We are in a new, strange place, and Arwen's missing. My love is not the kind of girl to go wandering off in new places without proper guidance, such as a map or me by her side...

"No," I say, standing up. "Guys, I've got to go, Arwen's missing."

The others look upset about my leaving, but nod in acceptance. They know how important Arwen is to me. I grab Rosalyn and pull her out into the hall, out of earshot.

"What do you mean, you cannot find her?" I ask. "She literally just got here."

"I don't know! She went to go explore or something, and hasn't come back in over an hour," Rosalyn whispers. "Please, please help me find her."

"Of course! I'll set off right now, she couldn't have gone far, maybe she was looking for me."

"So the beach then?" Rosalyn suggests.

"It's pouring outside, she knows I don't surf in the rain. And the maps aren't all that useful," I say, pulling out the blank map. "Maybe one of those weird energy hands can help us."

We rush off to the nearest hand around the corner, and I glance at Rosalyn. How exactly are you supposed to address a floating hand?

"Uhm... Excuse me, Mr. Hand," Rosalyn says, "my dear sister is missing, we cannot find her anywhere. Can you help us?"

"Who is this girl?" The hand asks, in a voice oddly like MewFour's.

"Arwen, she's small, with long blonde hair, and blue eyes," I describe, smiling again at the thought of her beauty.

"I can be of no help to find this "Arwen" that you speak of. Goodbye."

"Please, she's my sister!" Rosalyn shouts, angry now.

"Goodbye."

Feeling my own anger grow - and mind you, I am slow to anger - I step toward the hand and glare at him.

"Dude, tell me where my girlfriend is," I say.

"No response," the hand mocks, then disappears in a flash of green light.

"Oh no, no no no," Rosalyn mutters.

I place my hand on her shoulder and manage a faint smile.

"Rosalyn, do not worry, I promise we'll find Arwen if it's the last thing I do. And anyways, how serious could it be? She couldn't have gone far in this maze of a place," I say, trying to make the situation sound better.

I instantly start searching.

Quill ~

I wake up and look around... I am still in the library. The mysterious, cloaked figure I clearly identified as... No, no, too much to think about. He's gone. Not dead, in fact, in this building, but nowhere to be seen in this massive library. I push myself onto my knees and cringe. Looking down, I see my knees are bruised, having apparently fallen to the floor - passed out. How did that happen? The last I remember was... seeing his face, smiling, then everything went dark.

Standing up, I limp over to the door, leaning against the wall. Everything hurts - my head, my knees, my mind. Everything. Visions begin flashing across my eyes, memories, both good and bad - all of that one special AE. It makes me sick, the swirling images across my eyes. Zeon runs past the library door with Rosalyn following close behind. I call out, but no sound is made, they don't even see me. The black and white visions become stronger, so... so... strong.

I fall to the ground once again, feeling something - a powerful, invisible presence - digging into my thoughts, splitting my mind into the worse imaginable pain. I scream a soundless cry, and the world goes dark again, the tall, wooden library doors quietly closing by themselves, leaving me sealed in a dark room of secrets.

Help... Me...
