Chatterbox: Down to Earth

In the center

In the center of CB Square, two AEs sit side by side on a bench.

One of them is slumped over the railing, supported only by his hand. A gray dog ear sprouts from his head, flopping over his sleeping face. The other is sat bolt-upright on the bench, his polished black shoe tapping on the street as he looks out across CB Square, a slight scowl on his face. He waits a moment as the other AE snores quietly, then bursts out suddenly.

"Look at that!" he snaps, gesturing to the other AEs as they romp around.

"Huh? Whuzzat?" his brother snorts, jerking up with eyes still half-closed in sleep. He turns to the other AE, whose dark violet eyes are slitted in annoyance.

"All those... other AEs!"

His brother smiles in hesitant disbelief, not quite understanding what he's hearing. "...you gotta problem with them?" The purple AE shakes his head as if he's astounded by his brother's idiocy.

"Argh, no, but... I mean, there's just so many of them! With this new influx of CBers--"

"--influx, nice word," the dog-eared AE adds in.

"--I can't keep track of them all! And let's be real, 8, we haven't exactly been the best with meeting every AE that pops into existence. I really do need to know what some of them are up to." The other AE scratches his head, admitting the truth. "So you know what I have decided?"

"What is it, Mew?" 8-Piece asks, rolling his eyes. MewFour paused for a moment, building up the dramatic tension.

"We," he said. "Are holding an AE RP."

"Another?" 8-Piece groans, shifting his position on the bench. "Isn't there, like, one on Inkwell already?"

"Perhaps there's anoher school; I didn't see," MewFour said, waving the comment off. "What I mean," he grinned, turning to face 8-Piece. "Is that we hold an RP of the best kind. The most interesting kind. And we hold it at a manor."

"Eww--"

"That's by the sea."

8-Piece pauses for a moment, thinking. "...I'm listening. What are we doing there, though?"

"Oh, you know, the usual," MewFour says. "Socializing, eating, allowing those other AEs to get up to shenanigans, turning the eye to the haunted and venegful souls that roam the hallway and may cause a plot centerpiece sooner or later--I got a great deal for the mansion, really. And displaying that extraordinary library that came with it!"

"*Showing Quill, *alone," 8-Piece coughs. MewFour glares at him for a second, his cheeks coloring slightly, before moving on. "And guess what? I am the host! I will run it all. Anything the AEs want to do, any questions they have, will all be directed back to me. Telekinesis can come in so handy, don't you know." MewFour snapped his fingers. The next second, two violet-glowing hands appeared, appearing to made out of pure light. "Anytime an AE desires something, they simply need to shake a hand--I can create many, many more--and with my aid, they will fetch it."

"And what do I do?" 8-Piece asked, catching onto the idea.

"You," MewFour said, clearly enjoying the anticipation. "Will cook! You can bake and confectionize, and organized and assort anything you like." 8-Piece's eyes glowed, and he leapt off the bench, hopping from one foot to the other.

"Oh, oh, and here--" One of the hands darted away and returned with a pen and paper, and MewFour hastily scribbled something down on a sheet, then handed it to 8-Piece.

"Name, Age, Appearance, Personality, Crushes or relationships, and CBer," 8-Piece murmured, reading out the sheet. "Sounds good to me! And ah, let's call it... 8-Piece and MewFour's Really Cool Ocean Manor Trip RP!"

MewFour winced slightly. "Or just: AE Masion RP."

"That works too," 8-Piece said, shrugging. "Well, come on! Let's go!" MewFour stared after his brother as he dashed into the CB Square, already attracting a crowd of curious AEs. He sighed, a rare smiling gracing his face, then followed close behind.

Sriracha~

I'm still doing trig when I hear a commotion outside. Probably some drama that I'm late for,as usual. I spot a purple hand that seems to be smirking. "Take me to the action," I instruct it. It hurries off down a corridor, stopping me at a crying girl with black wings. Not what I had in mind, but I love helping crying people! (Except for the fact that they always get angry at me.) I sit quietly down next to Jammira, which is against my loud nature but which I know is the right thing to do. I wait for her to notice me.

So, should we go with Rosalyn saying something hurtful to Jammira, even if it wasn't necessarily about Bolton? If not, then please ignore this post. -Cockleburr

Counter~

I walk over to Zeon to ask if he checked the library, but he doesn't notice me standing behind him. I glance around for Jammira, then realize she isn't there. Huh. Where'd she go? I turn around in a circle, looking all around. Of course, that's when Zeon spots me. Naturally.

"What are you doing, bro?" he asks, half laughing, half confused. I spin back around to face him.

"Oh- me? I was, um, looking for Jammira," I say awkwardly. His eyes widen.

"Oh, great. Did we lose another one? Geez. This is getting worse and worse."

"Um, no. I-I hope not," I answer, then finally spot Jammira sitting on the floor. "Oh, there she is!" I say, relieved. But is she crying? Why? And who is that guy sitting next to her? I don't know him. New people. Fabulous. Maybe I shouldn't go over there, I think. I mean, I don't know why she's crying. And I definately don't know that person. No. I'm being a coward. Jammira's my friend, and she's upset. I need to get over there, now. She'd do the same for me, right?

I square my shoulders and walk up to her.

Rosalyn~

I see Counter walking over to Jammira, and Sriracha sitting by her. Why did I have to say that? I feel so bad now. Maybe I should go over...?

I make up my mind and hurry over to where they all are. Counter looks up at me curiously. I blush and smile at him.

Jammira shoots me a dirty look from beneath her tears. I sit down on the floor close to her and wait silently for someone else to do something.

Jamie~

I walk back to my room, in hopes to talk to Very about the shaking, but he's gone. I search the closets, hoping that he was just waiting in one to jumpscare me. No such luck. Then I notice the painting. There's a big painting swung open on a blank wall with four chilling words carved into the wall.

We Have Your Brother

Time to grab my vintage ghostbusters protopack (with working laser!). I bust through the wall. Behind the wall is dark. I step into the blackness.

This is giving me the distinct vibe of Stranger Things.

Jammira~

Great. Now I'm crying in public. I'm sure that they'll call me baby on top of sandwhich-girl now (oh, I hear things, friends. I hear things.) A boy, Sriracha, I think, has settled down next to me and Counter has his hand on my shoulder.

"It'll be alright," He says

"I-I know," I snuffle through my tears, "Who knew I'd miss the little bookworm so much? He's probably just walled up in some library, reading as we speak..."

Basil~

I'm actually beginning to get worried. I've been sitting in this dark hallway for hours, and still no help has come. So I decide to take matters into my own hands. I stand, running my hands along the wall, and just begin to walk forward. I walk and walk, until I see a glimmer of light. Coming from a half-open door.

I squint my eyes in an attempt to shield them from the glare that is coming from what must be a hidden room. I walk, hand on the wall, until I reach the door. And into the room I go.

It takes my eyes a little while to adjust, but soon they do, and I can actually make sense of my surroundings. The room is small, but the walls are covered with what seem to be maps of the house. I recognize the library, the kitchen, and the bedrooms. But There are also hallways and rooms outlined in red, one which leads from the study I found to what I'm guessing is the room I'm currently in.

I think there may be something rather suspicous going on at AE Mansion RP.

Great, Ashlee!

I can't RP with Arwen until tomorrow, but for now....

Rosalyn~

There doesn't seem to be anything for me to do here. Jammira's still sobbing, and Counter has his hand on her shoulder. She doesn't seem to mind.

Out of the corner of my eye, I see an Æ going into a wall.

Wait, going into a wall?

I jump up, nearly spraining my ankle on my high heels. I consider the benefits of sneakers.

"STOP!" I shriek. But it's too late. The Æ--I think his name is Jamie--has already gone into the wall. It's hanging open like a wall, with complete blackness inside. "Someone stop him!" Jammira has stopped sobbing as she looks up. Counter is looking at me. Zeon turns around from his group and sees the wall hanging open. His mouth opens slightly.

As if by a signal, all the other Æs in the room look up and around.

MewFour

~~

"...they're all gone," 8-Piece says worriedly, his gray ears flicking. "I don't know where they went, but no one turned up to dinner and they're all out of their rooms."

"Why?" I say in frustration, pressing my palm to my forehead. "Oh, bother--hey!" I snap my fingers and a hand appears, and I quickly tell it to go find out where on earth all the AEs have gone. As it disappears, 8-Piece turns to watch it go before looking back at me.

"A-also..." he says hesitantly. "I think I heard someone... yelling earlier."

"Yelling?" I lean in closer, intrigued. "Who was it?"

"Well, I dunno," 8-Piece says carefully, clearly choosing his words. "But maybe it has something to do with all the AEs going off on their own." Just then the hand floats back in, and with a curl of its finger it opens onto a flat palm and a psychic-energy hologram appears on it, showing a bunch of AEs clustered around a sobbing Jammira.

"What?..." I say, jumping up from my desk. Why is she crying? "Come on, let's go," I say, grabbing 8-Piece's wrist and dragging him along.

"Wait, where are we going?" he shouts as I race along the corridors. I don't bother to tell him--he'll find out soon enough anyways, no use wasting time with trivial information--but the truth is that I didn't see Quill there, and if she's not in her room like 8 said... I shudder, not wanting to consider it. No wonder I got this mansion at such a cheap price; it's definitely cursed.

Skidding around the corner with 8-Piece right behind me, and a few stray hands floating in the air, I come face-to-face with the sight I'd just seen portrayed to me. "So," I say, brushing my suit off and walking smartly up to the group of AEs. "What do we have here?"

Basil-

I've been in here for an hour, scouring the room, and it seems there aren't just maps in here. There are newspaper clippings, all neatly catalogued and ordered by most recent. At first, there doesn't seem to be much of a connection between them: then I see it. All of the articles are about an AE getting lost at a mansion party, or a warning to CBers to keep their AEs inside at night. In each picture, there's the same house. The mansion I'm standing in now.

I can only guess one thing from this.

This mansion seems to pop up every few years, the ideal place to host an AE-only party. And the AEs do. And at each party, exactly seven AEs go missing. They never come back.

The house feeds once every few years.

It gives them absolute paradise, tayloring dream rooms to each Ae's needs. I was drawn to a mysterious library/study.

And then it eats us.

I'm sitting in a carnivosours house.

(Yes, Mew and 8 are finally back! I was worried they would stop posting)

Quill ~

At the slowest imaginable pace due to Arwen's ankle and the narrow, dark walls, we continue walking. Walking... walking. It isn't long before the voices of our friends are lost out of sight. Finally, we have no choice but to rest.

Arwen and I sit down, knees bent against the walls. Naturally, we break into a discussion to avoid the darkness, the silence. Yet... it's all still a lonely world here in these walls.

"Arwen," I say, smiling in the darkness, "I never really got to acquaint myself with you. Even after you and Zeon got so close."

Arwen laughs, her sweet voice ringing out through the gloomy walls.

"Zeon's my life, Quill. I really wish you could experience something as wonderful as that."

"I... I have," I  say, biting my lip.

Was I ready to open myself up to Arwen, now that we were left with no choice but to get to know each other? After all, no one was coming for us. Who knows if I'd ever see another face again? See his face again.

"Ooh, please tell me more! But why do you sound so upset?" Arwen asks softly, noticing my silence.

"I find it to be a long story, but since we have time, I shall tell you. It all started last year, when I met him, the greatest person I've ever met."

Once I finish telling Arwen about MewFour, and what happened between us... she stays quiet. Quiet, respectful.

"I-I never knew," she said, putting her hand on my shoulder. "I knew you two had a past, but I never understood how much. Thank you for telling me, Quill. I feel we could really be friends one day."

"I agree. Now we should really get some rest, we have to go farther tomorrow I fear."

Within seconds, Arwen is asleep. I lie on my side, a tear rolling down my face. The thoughts of having no water or food do not bug me, I won't mind starving to death. It's this girl beside me, my brother's love, that makes me continue to fight on. I cannot let her die, no matter what.

Then, as I close my eyes, I keep his face in mind, and it puts everything at ease.

Zeon ~

The others and I quickly gather around the crying Jammira when MewFour comes, quickly picking up himself, head raised high. Although I'm no fool, I can see his face is full of worry.

"So, what do we have here?"

I run up to him, eyes wide, and spew out everything that has happened.

"Arwen and Quill are missing! And Basil just entered in that wall over there. Your useless hand things won't help us, and no one can find them. I think a few others are missing too," I say, and noticing Mew bite his lip, I add, "Yeah, I said Quill is missing, bro."

This sends a few chuckles out among the crowd until MewFour glares at them. He coughs into his fist, glancing at us.

"We'll find her- I mean, them," he says smoothly. "But we need a plan."

I beleive it was me who entered the wall.

Jamie~

You feel safer if you have a high powered laser attached to your back. I'm going to find my brother if it's the last thing I do. Then I hear voices. I wlk toward the voices and shout, "Very? Is that you?" The voices go silent. Then I hear footsteps. Two blurs come out of the darkness, one limping, and one supporting the other. As they come closer, I can see who they are. "Arwen? Quill? What are you doing here?"

"Who are you?" asks Arwen.

"Jamie, and I'm about to go and save my brother and anyone else who's stick in this horrid place." They glance at eachother warilly.

Quill speaks first, " We came here by total accident. Now we're trapped. What's that thing on your back? It looks like something from a sci-fi movie."

"It's a home-made high-powered laser in the form of a proto-pack from Ghostbusters. I love that movie." I turn it on to show them. It busts through the wall. Oops. Then I notice the room. We lean into the hole to see it. It's decorated with newspaper clippings. There's an AE inside. It's not Very, but they may still have answers. I step into the room.

"Who are you?" I ask the AE who has just entered the room

"I'm Jamie."

"No, really!" He says defensively

Arwen~

I stay silent as Quill tells me about her and MewFour. I never knew....

After a while, we lie down to sleep. I draw in my breath sharply as I hit my ankle against the wall, biting my lip to keep from crying out.

~ ~ ~

We walk along the dark tunnel, Quill supporting me slightly as I limp along, wincing with each step.

"Very? Is that you?"

I stop short, and I can feel Quill stiffen. An Æ that I've never seen before looms up out of the inky blackness.

"Who--who are you?" I say unsteadily.

"Jamie, and I'm about to go and save my brother and anyone else who's stuck in this horrid place."

I look at Quill anxiously. She lifts an eyebrow.  "We came here by total accident. Now we're trapped. What's that thing on your back? It looks like something from a sci-fi movie."

"It's a home-made high-powered laser in the form of a proto-pack from Ghostbusters. I love that movie."

He turns to show it to us, but bursts a hole through the black wall on our left. Forgetting my fear, I curiously lean through the splintered hole and see a room full of old, yellow newspaper clippings. An Æ is standing by one of the walls, examining them. He looks up with surprise as we climb through the hole.

"Who are you?" He asks. "I'm Jamie," the Æ with the home-made high-powered something or other says.

"I'm Arwen, and this is Quill." My voice sounds trembly from the pain in my ankle. I realize that I'm putting my weight on it and resume leaning on Quill.

The Æ gestures to the newspaper clippings. "Look at these."

Jammira~

After more people began to dssappear, we split off into multiple teams. Half of the teams are searching, half of them resting. We rotate. At the moment, I'm resting in my room on the couch. Even doodling isn't helping anymore. Counter went to his room awhile ago, probably for some well-earned sleep. I haven't attempted to go to bed yet, though. How could I sleep when Basil is out there, all alone, lost and probably-

No. I will not consider that. It's impossible. Basil is way to intelligent to have gotten himself killed.

Suddenly, I hear a loud scream from the hallway. I jump off the couch and run.

But no one is here. The hallway is empty.

But something is off. On the wall, someone has written in bright red blood- no it must be paint- words.
