I was thinking,

Chatterbox: Inkwell

I was thinking,

I was thinking, we could start a new story chain. You make up a new character, but they CAN'T be from the 21st century (they'll wind up there later). They have to be related to someone famous but NOT an actor, actress, singer, etc.

Mine is: Dehlia Ludington.

Related to a heroine of the American Revolution: Sybil Ludington.

Lives in Fredericksburg NY, 1777

Suddenly transported to the 21st century.

Age: Unkown

Short length blonde hair, blue-gray eyes, exactly 5 feet, rather pale.

Personality: Quiet most of the time, yet speaks out passionately when its something she cares about, strong, dependable, loving.

Hope ya'll like my idea!

Dehlia ~

Max still had a grip on me, I twisted and fought, all the while, the world was rapidly growing dark. The time tears were working. I wondered where I would end up, and if Max would get pulled along as well.

I awoke, lying spread eagle. The ground beneath me was hard, cold stone. All around me, building rose, nearly touching the sky, which was dark and filled with ominous black clouds. Wind blew stray pieces across the road, but other than that, the world was silent. I sat up and glanced around. Max lay unconcious nearby. So did Dora, though Errol and Felix were no where to be seen. I got unsteadily to my feet, and walked over to Dora. I knelt, gently shaking her. After a few moments, she opened her eyes, and stared up at me uncomprehendingly.

"Come on," I whispered, afraid I would awaken Max. "I don't know where we are, but we've got to get out of here, right now." Dora nodded. I helped her up, and together, we silently made our way into the seemingly deserted city.

~Dora~

The silence of this new street was eerie, coming closer and closer to you, like an invisible animal, waiting to pounce. The sky was a firey red where the horrible black clouds weren't looming around. The street was deserted, but the buildings stood firm. They were built of red brick.

"Where are we?" I asked, my own voice sounding to loud in the eerie quiet.

"I don't know," Deliha answered, softly, "I've never seen any place like it."

Suddenly a great roaring and shrieking filled the air, the screams nearly deafening me. The sky grew blcker, if that was possible, and duststarted  to whip around us.

"A dust storm!" Deliha said, but I knew it was more than that.

"Quick!" I yelled, "We need to get to cover."

The words were swept away by the wind, but Deliha didn't need to be told anything. She grabbed my hand, and ran to the nearest building.

"Help! Help!" she screamed, beating at the door, "Help us!"

I grabbed her arm. "Deliha, you are going to scream yourself hoarse!" I yelled, "We need to find shelter!"

But we were half way off the porch when  the door creaked open, and a voice was swept by us.

____________

So, what should we do next? It could be Elixah, or it could be Volt's group.

(July 22, 2013 - 5:54 pm)

Hmm. I'm thinking it should be Elexhiia since we need to find her anyway.

Dehlia ~

Panick clawed at me. I beat at the door, screaming my head off for someone to help us. Dora pulled me away. We ran, heading away from the building, when I heard a voice behind us. A figure stood in the doorway, madly waving us in. Dora and I ran forward, and tumbled inside. We lay in the foyer, panting, trying to calm our racing hearts. Once I was able to normally breathe again, I looked around. The floor was smooth with an intricate design. The walls were a light beige, leading down a long, poorly lit hall. Dora and I glanced at each other. It was then I noticed how filthy we were. A layer of grime covered our faces and arms, with dust coating our hair. Together we stood up, and slowly made our way down the hall. At the end, we passed through a doorway leading into what I guessed was the kitchen. A table stood at the center, with strange, box-like fixtures against the walls. The person who had waved us in stood with their back turned to us. They turned around, and with a huge jolt of shock and relief, I realized it was Elexhiia.

"Elexhiia!" Dora and I both cried, and rushed forward to embrace her.

She smiled at us, then became serious.

"You stand out too much in those clothes, and anyway, they need changing." She gestured us to two stacks of clothes on the table, the same as hers. A grey shirt, and long black pants of durable material. She waved us each into a room where we could change.

"That's better," she said as we came back in. I could still hear the scream of the wind outside, but something else too.

"What's going on, Elexhiia?" I asked as we sat at the table.

Elexhiia sighed, then answered: "You are in the future now, and we are in the middle of war."

*********************************************************************

We had decided the future was at war, right?

(July 23, 2013 - 8:09 pm)

Yup! So, are Errol and Fliex going to come, or have we bade them adieu?

~Dora~

"A war?" I asked, hesitantly, not beliving my ears. Wonderful. We've traveled to the future, not to our homes, then we find out we're in teh middle of a war?

Elexhiia nodded. "Yes. And this is even worse than any of the other wars that have happened in the past.

"Worse than any-" Deliha started to say, "- Worse than our war for liberty and freedom?" she cried.

"The Revolutionary War?" I asked. "Worse than that and the Civil War? That was the worst yet!"

Elexhiia shook her head. "This is the war of all wars," she said, "No other war could be worse." she looked up, "The time tears like those I gave you are part of this. But I'll explain later. You two need food, and then we'll explain what happened since we last met." she got a few bowls from the cabnets. "Three... Say, where's the other two? Fleix and- and the other one." sarcasm entered her voice suddenly. Then, just as suddenly, it left. "They shouldn't be out there right now," she said, looking out the window, "Good for them there's a wopper of a dust storm."

"We don't know where they are," Deliha said, "We used the time tesrs, and found ourselves here. When we awoke, Max, the one who..." she trailed off, confused by the words that she was about to say.

"The one who killed me," prompted Elexhiia, setting a bowl of soup in front of her. Seeing the look on her face, Elexhiia smiled, "I'm no gohst," she said, "Go on with your story."

"When we came to our senses, Max was sleeping, and the boys were nowhere in sight." I finished.

Elexhiia frowned, "This could be bad," she said.

Goody, goody! And yeah, maybe we should just leave Errol and Felix, at least for now, cause honestly, I don't know what the heck to do with 'em.

Dehlia ~

I was on edge already, especially when I found out that this war currently going on was worse then the one I had left. The thought terrified me. Elexhiia placed two bowls on the table, filled a warm, rich broth, then sat down.

We started eating, but I kept my eye on Elexhiia. I half expected her to fade away, like she did when Max stabbed her. She was staring off into space, her expression tired, and burdened, yet something else. A steady determination flowed steadily through her. It was strong, or overflowing, yet it was there all the same.

"The time tears," I pressed after a moment of silence. This brought Elexhiia back from her thoughts. She sighed, and started in.

"This whole war is over time tears, in fact. They're a rare substance here, and the tears I brought with me to the past are hard to come by. Five years ago, time tears were discovered to have another power than just time travel. In fact, many powers, ranging all over from alchemy to weapondry. Since then, the world's most predominant and power leaders have attempted to gain a substancial amount of time tears, each for his own personal gain. Each nation has attempted to stop the other from gaining time tears, while trying capture and harbor it themselves. This has led to a catastrophic, world wide, nuclear war. It's been raging for three years, with little to no sign of ending. People are dying daily, towns destroyed, and the world is a wreck. We, the common folk, would like to be rid of time tears all together. We thrived just fine before, and we can again."

At this, Elexhiia wouldn't meet our eyes, and I had a feeling we weren't just accidently here.

"So what can we do?" I asked, my voice hard.

Elexhiia sighed, and ran her hand through her hair.

"Not much," said, though I didn't believe it. I glanced at Dora, neither did she.

If we're going to get back home by dieing in a battle, then maybe we could meet them soon before. They should have a reasonable ending, or homecoming.

~Dora~

"So what can we do?" Deliha asked, her voice hard.

Elexhiia sighed, and ran her hand through her hair.

"Not much," she said, though I didn't believe it. I glanced at Deiha, and saw that she didn't either.

"What can we do?" I asked again, firmly.

"Nothing," Elexhiia repeted with just as much firmness.

I sighed. "Elexhiia, there is something. We know that. What aren't you telling us? Why are we here? And where are Errol and Fliex?"

Elexhiia set her jaw and thinned her lips. "I don't know where the boys are. Maybe the tears took them somewhere else. I don't know. They could be a few days from us, a few hours from us, a few years. Maybe thousands of years away. I don't know where they are."

She looked up. "But the rest of your questions, I can answer."

I leaned forward, eager to catch her words.

That's fine. I honestly don't know where this is going either. I'm just sort of winging it. But that's the beauty of this thread. We have no real ending goal, aside from us returning home by dying in battle, which really shouldn't be too hard to do.

Dehlia ~

I wasn't sure why Elexhiia was so hesitant to tell us why we were here. Or how she even knew we would be here. Or what our in this was.

"Well, the other questions?" I prompted when she fell silent. Again, she sighed running a hand through her hair.

"The government knew you were coming. I did and didn't know when I arrived at the past. I knew they expected someone, and once I met you, I had my own suspicions. Of course I couldn't say anything then, and I really shouldn't now. But you deserve the truth. And you can help end this pointless war."

I notched an eyebrow at this. How we could help, I had no idea. As far as I knew, America was still fighting a war just to win our independence. How we could be at war with other countries still confused me.

"With use of the time tears, comes... special side affects. Some good, some, eh, not so much." "But appearently, you two don't appear to be bothered by that," she quickly added, seeing our much horrified looks.

"One of the perks of time tears is not just time travel, but teleportation. Going anywhere, at anytime. For about forty-eight hours after the initial use of the time tears, you can continue going from place to place. Mind you, you can't time travel. At least not very far, and only if you try the first few minutes after using them. But what you need to know is, you two, plus Errol and Felix if we can find them, can go anywhere. But we have to act fast. The longer you wait, the harder it will be, and the more exertion it will require. Over exert yourself, you'll fade away. Got that?"

Dora and I both nodded. Strangely, I wasn't scared. I was ready. This was my chance, and what I was meant to do. I'd always wanted to do something important, like Sybil, and now I could. I just hadn't expected it to happen in another time.

All right! So, you have any idea what we should do?

~Dora~

"Fade away?" my voice cracked. "Fade away? What do you mean by fade away? Will we-" I stopped, unable to say the word.

Elexhiia nodded, a strange look in her eyes. "You'll die," she said, in an odd tone of voice.

Deliha and I shot each other worried glances. Die, after all of this work? But I was suspecting that something  was up. Did Elexhiia hate us? Or dislike us for some reason? How come she was so carefree about our dieing?

But I forgot about that in an instant, when a hard pounding came from the door. Suddenly, I noticed that the dust storm was over.

Elexhiia's face whitened. "The goverment. They must think you're here."

The pounding kept on. "Open this door at once!" a rough, harsh man's voice yelled.

(July 27, 2013 - 6:01 pm)

I'm thinking that we use our teleportation abilities to teleport to the places where the time tears are being held in country (for writing's sake, we'll act like there are currently four or five), take the time tears, and epic battle commences to retrieve them, we die (our epic deaths!), we go back to our times, each of us taking a bottle of time tears with us, and the war ends (there will no longer be any time tears.) Or some such thing. I don't know. We'll see as we go along. Elexhiia can help us figure out where the time tears are (though as to how she has this information, we'll never know.) So, onward!

Dehlia ~

I was on my feet in an instant. Panic rose in my chest.

"Another exit," I demanded, looking at Elexhiia. She glanced at the door, then back at us.

"This way," she said in a low tone after a moment. She led us down a narrow hall, and into a bedroom hardly any bigger than a pantry. Sunlight shone hazily, fight through dust from the previous storm. Elexhiia clasped her hands, giving me a foothold. I pried at the window, slamming against it with all my might. After several difficult minutes, continuous banging from the front door, many threats from both parties, and a few choice words from Elexhiia, we managed to get the window up. Well, more like we made the window come out entirely. I clambered onto the roof, then helped Dora up. I reached down to Elexhiia. She hesitated, then took it. We clambered down, just as we heard the front door crash in. We ran full out down a side street, sliding round corners. I was about to yell we'd lost them, when we crashed into something. Or someone. They grabbed me, and I very nearly took them out with an oncoming kick, when I realized it was Errol.

"Errol, Felix!" Dora shouted as Errol dodged my kick, and released me. I dropped to the ground, panting and trying to get figure out what was going on.

"We were wondering what happened to you," I said, as Felix helped me up.

"Same here," Felix replied. "Liz managed to hang onto Errol as we traveled, but we lost her."

"Same here," I replied, and told them about Max and Volt.

Errol had been watching Elexhiia all this time.

"You're here?" He asked.

Suddenly, there was a pounding of footsteps behind us.

"Later," I said, and shoved them into a run.

Like I said, no idea what we'll do exactly, we'll just see how it goes?

submitted by Blonde Heroines Rule
(July 27, 2013 - 8:56 pm)

All right, so the time tears we would have can turn to other things? Like, our own magical objects that can only stay with us? (That's to prevent more battles and stalkers.) 'Cause you said that there would be no more time tears...

And Elexhiia, would she die, too? I mean, if you're in the wrong time, then you don't die, but if you are in the correct time, then you die, right? Maybe she's traveling, too, and we naver know where she's from?

~Dora~

"Later!" Deliha cried, pushing us to a run. Fliex shot me a quizzical look as we raced though allys and streets, but I shook my head. "Later" I mouthed.

As we ran, I realized that the running semed quite familiar. We end up somewhere, we're tracked down, we're attackted, we run, we're chased, we run, we're caputered, we escape, we travel, we run, and we're chased.

Run I told myself, run for your life. You don't know what these people would do to you if you're captured. Run. I had never run for my life before, but now I knew that it was not fun and play like I used to play with my cousins at Aunt Clara's. Now, I was the retreating Confederate army, and no longer the triumfant Union as they drove the foe out and away.

We ran thorugh alleys and streets, ducking and dodging and cutting through sandy yards.

Was this Liz and Volt? I wondered with a shiver. How did they track us down?

We ran for our lives, running and running out into the deserted lands.

Dehlia ~

We ran, nonstop. The city disolved around us as we ran toward the woods about a quarter of a mile outside the city. In between the ground like a desert, with large cracks in between so we had to watch where we ran. We finally passed into the shelter of the woods and promptly collapsed, heaving. I lay there, listening, as we attempted to catch our breath. Nothing. Yet I still couldn't shake the feeling we were being watched. Finally, after some time, I managed to sit up without nearly passing out.

"So what now?" I asked Elexhiia.

She reached into a bag she'd grabbed just before we left her house and rummaged through it. She pulled out something that looked like a high tech gun and passed it to me. "You'll need this when you go to retrieve the time tears." She then strapped something to my wrist. "A communicator, to stay in touch with me," she said at my questioning look. She then passed a gun to Dora, Errol, and Felix.

"Wait, you want us to kill anyone who tries and stop us?" I demanded, looking over the gun.

"Not kill, stun," Elexhiia replied. "They don't need loading. Just pull the trigger."

"Okay," I said, still unsure. "Where do we go first?"

Elexhiia straightened. "Russia," she said.

*************************************************************

So, I couldn't resist. The guns and communicator are sort of a steampunk style. And you really can't charge into enemy territory without some sort of defense. And this way, I still get my weapons in! Wink
