Dystopian RP

I know I haven't been on here for a while; I really am going to try to post more often... Anyway, I thought it would be cool to do a dystopian RP. But we have to make up what the world is like before we start soooo any ideas? :)

I think whatever works best! We could wait for BHR and Bookbug to say what would be the best. Either way, we will find a way to put in Ebony.

And

@Katie

Zach's Wonderful Plot Summary:

- We all left the compound for various reasons. I don't think I really need to go into that part much.

- Julien and Jessica met up in the forest.

- Juliette came later, but she was kind of argumentative, and Julien kind of set her off, so she left.

- Three guards showed up. There was a fight. Juliette almost died. There were two conflicting posts following basically the same plot except in one of which Jessica shot the guard and in another Juliette did it.

- Julien got shot in the arm.

- Juliette ditched again. Jessica and Julien left to make camp.

- Juliette met up with Tristy.

- Everyone accidentally met up again.

- Juliette got knocked out.

- There were two conflicting posts. We have to decide which to use.

I'm pretty sure that's right.

I personally think that maybe we should go with Zach's (no offence AT. ALL. Bookbug!), just because I think it flowed a bit better with previous events, and we could easily meet up with Ebony in the woods or at the camp. But that's just me. I'll let y'all decide!

Cappie says ehug. I'm still convinced that Captchas are trying take over the world, so I'm not sure where to go with that.

Juilette also has a deceased older brother whose death is still needed to be discovered. As in I have no idea yet.

I think we should continue with Zach's version. Mine seems pretty lame compared to his. I think we should meet Ebony after we leave the forest.

So, I'll guess we'll be following Zach's story! Who wants to post their P.O.V. first? I would, but Juilette is knocked out, and there probably is more going on before she wakes up minutes or hours later.

Jessica ~

I struggled under the weight of Juliette on my back. I heard the gunshot and winced slightly. But it also helped spur me on.

How many more are out here? How many are looking for us? Why? How desparate are they to get rid of us?

These thoughts swirled around in my mind, forcing my aching legs to go faster.

"Tristy?" I called low, worried that more guards would hear. At first I heard nothing, then the crunching of leaves, and a girl slipped out of the woods. She glanced at Juliette, then me.

"Tristy?" I asked, panting, adjusting Juliette. She nodded.

"Jessica, but we've got to go. Julien should be coming behind us, but we've got to get away from this area."

"Of course," she said, and led the way.

Where to go, where to go, I thought madly, though I couldn't think straight.

Suddenly I heard pounding footsteps behind us, and Tristy and I froze.

"Keep moving," Julien said, coming out of some foliage. I sighed with relief, and followed after him. Juliette moaned and stired slightly, though didn't come fully round.

After half an hour of walking, each of us exhausted, we stopped. My whole body shook with exhaustion and I nearly collapsed to my knees as I allowed Tristy to help me lay Juliette on the ground.

"What now?" Julien asked after several minutes, taking a drink from one of the bottles.

"We go on defence," I said, having finally caught my breath. "We find shelter, a place to hide. We figure out how to survive, and where to go from there."

"Yeah, so simple," Julien scoffed.

"Well, we need shelter at least for now," Tristy said, looking back and forth between us.

"The cliffs," I said. "I saw them while searching for water. They probably have caves at the base. They're in... that direction," I pointed northwest.

"How do still know they're that way?" Julien demanded. "After all that running from guards, who knows where we are."

"I know," I sighed, "because of the location of the sun. I'd mentally cataloged which direction the cliffs were. They're not far from here. And by the way, the compound is southwest of here. You could probably see it from the top of the cliffs."

Julien looked at me skeptically, but he didn't argue. I looked at Tristy to see if she agreed. She nodded. I tore a piece off of my shirt, gently wet it, and applied it to Juliette's forhead. I could feel a decent size knot on the side of her head, but I was willing to bet she'd be alright.

Tristy~

"When should we
get going?" I asked.

"We should rest
and eat first," said Julien. "We need to build up our strength. Did
anyone bring food?"

All three of us had
brought some kind of sandwich.

"Juliette
must've dropped her bag in the forest," I said.

After we all ate,
Julien announced he would be look-out. "I'm not that tired, anyway,"
he said. None of us objected. I was so tired I could probably sleep
upside-down. I unwound my braid and shook my hair free. I used my pack as a
pillow. "Good night," I murmured sleepily. "Even though it's not
nighttime."

I woke to the sound
of rustling leaves. I bolted up. "What's that?" I asked Julien, who
was still sitting in the same spot. He looked at me. "What?"

"I heard some
leaves rustling," I said.

Julien shrugged.
"I didn't hear anything."

I hugged my knees
close to my body. I wasn't tired anymore. Why did my mom have to send me away?
I would rather be at the complex, with all my friends, not having to worry
about getting shot.

"Why did you
leave?" I asked Julien.

Julien stared at me
for a while. "I'd rather not tell," he finally said.

"I left because
my mom wanted me to. She said lots of people were disappearing, and I believe
that. Some of our neighbors have been moved to a different area, but we never
heard from them again. One of our neighbors was so grumpy all the time, if I ever
crossed paths with him, he would always say, 'Will you ever shut up?!' Do you
think I talk too much?"

Julien shrugged.
"Maybe a little."

I remembered what
happened back at the forest, and I was snapped back into reality. "Thanks
for saving me from the guard back there. It was really brave."

"It was
nothing," he said. I smiled. I had a tiny crush on Julien.

"Shouldn't we
be going, now?" I asked. Julien looked over at Jessica and Juliette.
"Yeah," he said. "It's been about an hour."

I walked over to
Jessica and shook her awake. She slowly got up. I heard Juliette groan.
"Juliette?" I walked over to her and laid a hand on her shoulder. Her
eyes slowly flicked open.

"Juliette!"
I turned to the others. "Juliette's awake!" Jessica and Julien ran
over to Juliette. "We should probably carry her," said Jessica.
"She's still weak."

Juliette was slowly
sitting up. She saw all three of us and glared. "I'm fine," she said.
"I can walk by myself." To prove her point, she slowly stood up. Her
legs were shaking. "Where are we going?" she asked.

"To the
cliffs," I said, hopping a little. "Jessica  thinks there'll be some caves there."

Juliette sighed.
"How did I get into this?" she asked.

Everyone picked up
their bag and headed into the direction Jessica had pointed earlier. I heard
another rustling in the leaves. Apparently, I was the only one who heard it.
Then, a tall girl with black hair blocked our way.

I'm back! And super sorry about not posting!

Ebony~

The day had passed in a blur, like all horrible things do. Your remember snippets of the conversation in your head, little glimpses of Mum crying, feel your body grow ice-cold, taste iron in your mouth. And it all builds into a horrid story that will change your life forever.

I remember my parents telling me I could be anything, as usual. Me telling them that if that's the case, then I want to be a criminal. Of course, I never had any intention of being a criminal. Actually, yes, I had big intentions of being a criminal. Just the Robin Hood kind. Then my parents said that they really meant it. I could be anything. A tear dripped down Mom's cheek, and then I know something was wrong. Very wrong. Mum cried, but not just for anything.

Then I heard a knock on the door. That knock... it just keeps resounding in my head. My dad hugged me and kissed my forehead. So did Mum. What's happening? I had asked. You'll be alright, Dad said. Just go to the swimming hole. What? I wondered.

Then the guards came in. They took Mommy and Daddy. They tried to take me too, but I ran. I ran like the wind. I was good at that.  Rebelling and running. Running so far, the thistles scratching my face and arms. To the "swimming hole" the code word for the forest that we ahd used when we played a game. That was so long ago.

Here I am, running through the forest, not knowing where I'm going.

"How did I get into this?" a girl's voice asked. It wasn't mine. I froze, looking around. There, through a gap. A boy and three girls. They headed my way. My face formed into my comfortable scowl and I crossed my arms.

***************

I know that I didn't advance the story at all, and I'm sorry. I was giving Ebony some backstory.

Thanks for posting your character Katie M! Now she can join our little group....if she chooses too.

Juilette--

A girl with long black hair stood in front of us, arms crossed, scowling.

"Who are you?" she asked, her voice cold.

"I'm Tristy! This is Jessica, Julien, and Juilette! What's your name?" Tristy asked cheerliy. I wonder how she stays so happy when our world is collapsing.

"Ebony. Now if you excuse me," she started walking away.

"Stay for a few minutes!" Tristy said. Ebony huffed, then walked towards us, a still glum look on her face. If she thinks she can take my spot from being the cold loner, she is so wrong.

I started feeling my back, not feeling my bag.

"Tristy. Jessica. Julien. Where did my bag go?" I asked frantically.

"It must've fallen off. It wasn't on you when I carried you away," Jessica replied.

My face fell.

"No. No no no, no. I need that bag."

"Gosh, it's just a bag. What do you need in it?" Julien asked, clearly tired of me in general.

I turned to face him, a tear falling down my face. "You don't understand," I said.

I took off running towards where I thought my bag was.

"Should we go after her?" asked Tristy and Jessica simultaneously far behind me. There was no reply, but I heard running footsteps behind me. I ran faster.

My head started throbbing. What was that they hit me with?

I finally made it to the tree where my bag was before. Looking around it, I found it lying on the ground. I quickly picked it up.

I went through it, found my book, flipped to the page my family picture was placed, and took it out.

My family and I were all in it, smiling happily, not knowing what was coming ahead.

- Julien -

While Juliette was freaking out about some packaged food and medical supplies, I had worries of my own.

How did the men keep finding us? I mean, we hadn't traveled a great distance, but it was a big forest, and we could have gone in any direction. Yet so far they'd found us twice, and both times managed to ambush us successfully. It was enough to have me thinking.

We caught up to Juliette in a small clearing, furiously tucking something---a book?---back into her back. I thought I might have caught a glimpse of something shining on her cheek, but she swiped furiously at her eyes and straightened up very quickly, as if in a hurry to keep moving.

"Did you get what you wanted?" chirped Tristy.

"Yeah," said Juliette, her voice low and carefully controlled.

"Are you going to leave again now that you have it?" I asked, semi-jokingly. She cast me a halfhearted glare and then walked over to us, which I took as a no.

"What about you?" I cast a glance around me, my eyes settling on the black-haired girl. "Ebony? Are you going to stay with us or leave?"

Noncommittal shrug. I could respect that.

"Why don't we just all hang together until we can get someplace safe," said Jessica.

We all murmured consent, except for Tristy, who gave an excessively cheerful affirmative.

How did she have so much energy? Maybe it should have annoyed me, but it was slightly infectious and made me want to grin. As it was I kept a stoically straight face. This situation was not suited for happiness. Happiness was not how you survived. You survived by keeping a serious, alert attitude of self-preservation.

What about when you saved Juliette? asked a snide voice in my head. Or Tristy? That wasn't very safe of you, was it?

"Shut up," I told myself. I couldn't risk affection. Not for anybody. We weren't safe in a computerized compound anymore, and I was responsible for my own fate---and only mine.

Jessica ~

After agreeing to stay together, at least for the time being, I led the way in the direction of the cliffs.

"Are you sure you know where we're going?" Ebony asked tartly. I sighed. I was about to lose it with these people.

"Yes, I'm sure. I read about how to track your location."

Thankfully, the cliffs soon appeared, rising at least four stories above us.

"Start scouting," Julien said, dropping his pack. We searched along the cliff's base, hoping to find the entrance to an at least semi decent size cave.

"Here," I shouted, standing before a cave that went back a good fifteen or twenty feet, and rose about eight or nine feet high. I deposited my things on the floor, looking around. This was to be our home, possibly forever. I wondered what exactly our intentions were. What were mine? Compared to the suddeness of the future, escape from the compound suddenly seemed simple. Ebony and Tristy left the cave to search the edge of the woods for kindling, while Julien and Juliette rested, still recovering from their injuries.

I sat staring off into space, calculating our chances of survival, pondering how the guards found us, and what our next move would be.

"Wait," I said suddenly, digging through my pack. I pulled out my small handheld tablet that held over a thousand different files, idea, projects, and books. It was solar powered, so I held it out into a small patch of sunlight, and turned it on. At first there was nothing, then the screen blinked to life.

"Awesome!" I said excitedly.

"That still works out here?" Juliette asked.

"Uh huh," I said half absently, focusing on attempting to get a signal.

"Nothing," I muttered. Suddenly an idea occured to me. I pulled a paper clip I'd been using as a bookmark out of one of my books, fixing it onto the tablet, and held it up. Three, then four bars appeared on the top right corner.

"It works!" I shrieked.

"What good does that do?" Julien asked.

"We can hack into the compound's computer server without limitations. I believe that the bars on what you could do with internet were only active for the apartments and classrooms. Outside of that, there's no bounds. We can finally find out what this is all about, and why we were basically prisoners."

**********************************************************************

Y'all can completely throw this out, but I thought we might need some other goal than just running aroudn the forest from guards. Again, this is just an idea. Discard this if you don't like it.

I like your idea of hacking into the compound's computer system, BHR.

Tristy~

After Ebony and I got the kindling, Julien started the fire inside the cave. It was starting to get dark. We all just sat there not saying anything.

"We need to start thinking about collecting food," said Jessica. "Our supply is running low. Ebony, did you bring anything?"

Ebony shook her head.

"Well, I guess we can finish off whatever we already have. Tomorrow, we'll figure out what to do."

Tristy~

It was hard to sleep that night. Even though I was pretty optimistic about our journey, I was also worried. I wondered if the black guys would come again. How did they find us anyway? I tossed and turned, but couldn't fall asleep. Finally, I finally drifted into sleep.

When I woke up, the sun was just coming up. I was the only one up.

"Wakey, wakey!" I chirped, jumping up. Everyone groaned. "Why do you get up so early?" groaned Juliette.

"Isn't it a beautiful day?" I said, standing at the mouth of the cave. "Listen to those bluebirds."

I sat down on the floor and began braiding my hair. When I was done, I jumped up and said, "I'm going to find some water."

"Tristy, you can't go alone." said Julien. "Don't worry," I said, shouldering my pack. "I won't go too far."

I walked until I could hear a bubbling, gurgling sound. A stream, I thought happily. I followed the noise until I came to a small brook. I jumped in and let the water wash all the dirt and grime off me. Then I got some dry clothes out of my pack and changed. I carried the wet clothes back to our cave.

"I found a brook," I said, laying out the clothes on a rock in the sun. "We can all take baths."

I led everyone to the small stream, and while everyone took their bath, I looked around for some food. Some berry bushes, maybe. I didn't like the idea of killing any animals. I couldn't find anything.

"Okay, guys," I said when everyone was done. "What should we do for food?"
