Genius RP

In this RP, we will all take on the difficult role of being geniuses. The first part of the RP will be about our everyday lives. Then,  we are all accepted to this school for gifted chldren. We live there for awhile and then we have to make it in the real world after about a year or 2 at the school. This RP doesn't really have a problem, it is more of a life in the perspective of RP.

Araxie sighed. Jocelyn's gaze fell on the vial in my hand.

"What's that? ARE YOU-"

"No, I'm not stealing it. It's mine. I've been studying for weeks to find out what it is, but I haven't had the materials. Sorry for being so secretive."

Jocelyn relaxed visibly. Suddenly they heard footsteps.

Araxie grabbed her hand and they ran like lightning up the back staircase.

"I still don't get it," I whisper.

"How do you know your way around this place?"

Please do not say you've been here before, Brooke.

Joyce had no idea where she was going. She had come to her first day super late, and was now trying to find her class. She suddenly stopped. Hearing a voice: "I still don't get it, how do you know your way around this place?" Joyce turned around the corner and nearly bumped into two girls in the lab. She screamed, and the other girls did too. Joyce saw that one of the girls was holding a vial. "Wait a minute, are you-?"

Joslyn-

I stop in my tracks. A girl is standing behind us, gaping. Even though she doesn't appear to pose a threat I step back nervously.

"No, we're not stealing," Araxie seems cheerily. It seeems she's the lucky one. Social and smart.

"I'm Joyce, um," she stutters.

Ebony~

The rest of the week had passed in a blur- working out the complications of Brooklyn Academy, the classes, and worst of all, saying goodbye.

I had hated the other school, but at least I had had Carder. Now I had nothing. Oh, sure, it was going to be great, where I would be finally challenged, but I would miss him terribly. It didn't help that it was a boarding school.

The alarm rang shrilly and I hopped out of bed and changed as quickly as I could. I wasn't about to be late to class.

It was the second day at this school, Brooklyn Academy. I hadn't made any friends. Not that I expected to, but it made me feel more lonely than ever, wihtout Carder to meet after school. But the classes were fun. I liked them, and they weren't super easy like everything else. But the schedule was strict. You had to do everything on time.

I rushed to painting class and was surprised to see a person already there. Usually I was the first one here. The girl sitting had blonde hair and grayish eyes and slightly younger than me.

I was horrible at making freinds, but I decided now or never. I sat down beside her.

"Hello," I said nervously. The girl didn't answer. She stared into space.

"Hello," I said a little louder. She snapped to attention and turned to me and looked surprised.

"Oh, hi," she said. "I was just thinking about my quantum physics class."

"I'm in that, too," I said, glad to have something in common. "What did you think of Mr. Yogi's theory?"

"I thought it was wrong."

"Me too!" I smiled.

-----

Change it if you like, as always. BHR, if I changed your character a little bit, please tell me!

@ Katie: I loved Maddie's reaction to Ebony's introduction! It fit in quite well with her character!

Maddie ~

I started slightly when a girl's voice caught and pulled me out of my thoughts. I turned to face a pleasant faced girl with brown hair and warm, brown gold eyes.

"Oh, hi," I said, which was the first thing to come to mind, then blurted out, "I was just thinking about my quantum physics class," which was the next thing to come to mind.

"I'm in that too," the girl said smiling. "What did you think of Mr. Yogi's theory?"

"I thought it was wrong," I replied bluntly.

"Me too!" she grinned.

I grinned back at the girl. I could be totally blunt, and she seemed to be the same way. I took an immediate liking to her.

I shifted around to face her, extending my hand. "Maddie Bront, age eleven."

"Ebony Snider, age thirteen," she said, shaking my hand. For the first time since I arrived, I felt at ease. And for the first time ever, talking to someone around my age felt... natural. Maybe it was the unfamiliar surroundings for both of us. Maybe it was the fact that we were both geniuses and we didn't have to hide it. Probably a mix of everything.

The class itself wasn't really was I was expecting. Our intructor, Miss Lidel, taught us forms of art and techniques like you would expect, but she also strongly encouraged our freedom of mind and imagination. I found myself painting the sky, fields of hazy gold in the distance, and the silhouette of a biplane. It came out far better than I first expected, though I'd painted this same scene time after time back home.

"A plane?" Ebony asked, looking over at my easel.

"Yeah, I love flying. Some day I'm going to be a pilot like my mom," I said seriously, looking intently at the picture in front of me. Staring at the picture made me homesick, but it also gave me an idea.

"Sorry I'm late!" Ataxia burst into painting and sat down next to a grey-eyed girl.

"Oh, hullo. Who're you?"

I walk into archeology and gasp. Huge skeleons litter the ground, wall, and hang from the ceiling.

Sorry, again, just busy!

Maddie ~

I was so focused on the painting in front of me, I didn't notice the latecomer till she startled me out of my thoughts.

"Sorry I'm late!" she cried, scurrying over to her seat next to me. "Oh hello, who are you?"

I blink at her for a moment, trying to collect my thoughts.

"Maddie," I reply, still attempting to think.

"Oh well I'm Araxie, nice to meet you. You must be one of the new students. I love painting, don't you?"

I nodded. This girl had such a boisterous, fast paced personality, I found it difficult to keep up with.

Araxie turned to her own painting, taking off with little instruction needed.

I kept Miss Lidel's tips in mind, shading the clouds the way she'd shown, mixing my blues for the sky, and trying my best to make my grass look like it was actually swaying. The more I painted, the more an idea formed in my head. After class, I stalled to ask Miss Lidel something, as well check the school's art supply room.

"Whatcha up to?" Ebony asked having waited for me in the hall.

"You'll see!" I whispered to her as we walked toward our next class.

A tallish girl walked into my room. Her eyes widened at it. But then she smiled.

"I suppose you're Joslyn?" she asked, smiling. I try to nod, but my head weighs a thousand pounds. She looks foreign. "I'm Ëlbáka. I run the school newspaper. Some rich old grandfather of one of '02's seniors donated 10,000 dollars for newspaper production. You like to write. So would you like to help? It's a paying job, of course. Photographers get 13 dollars per photo, and every story or article published in the newspaper is 20-60 dollars, depending on lenghth and stuff. Well, I guess I shoud call it a magazine. Anyway, you shoiuld come on," she mused. I'm still frozen.

"How-how do you know-"

"There is ink covering your hands all the time, and whenever I see you, you have a notebook labled IDEAS  in yor hand."

And so became my job at the magazine (and another friend).
