@Cloudy Dweller

Actually, the prophecy says: To child of nature is utmost woe. It comes right after the line: Living fire shall bebirth a foe.

It means the foe being bebirthed from the fire is most dangerous to the child of nature, not that the child of nature is dangerous.

Chris is in love with Ianthe and only Ianthe.

Nobody else be in serious love with Chris, please. I mean, you can admire him, but not CRUSH or go to desperate measures to have him like you.

I mean, if that's ok with you Hermione.

Ianthe~

I paced across my cabin, so many thoughts weighing on my mind, I couldn't even imagine trying to fall asleep. Tomorrow, we'd leave for the quest.

I snuck out of my cabin (there was no one else there to catch me) and sprinted through the forest, no twigs or leaves cracking benath my feet. I was silent.

I stopped until I came to a clearing with isolated trees. Or at least, that's what my friends see. I saw a great lake withhundreds of stars reflected in its looking-glass surface. you could hardly differenciate between it and the sky. I was sure that this lake only showed itself to me, for some reason I didn't know.

I was gazing out towards it when I heard a rustle behind me. I jerked around.

It was Chris.

I felt a little fluttering in my stomach like a thousand butterflies, but not the scared kind. A very un-tough girl like me kind.

He froze like a deer in headlights. He looked surprised as I did that we were both here.

"Uhh...hey," he said nervously.

"What are you doing here?" I retorted.

"Uhh...I come out here a lot. To think."

"Me too,"

A sudden thought occured to me: could Chris see the lake too?

"So..." I said, trying to sound casual and unsuspecting (I didn't do a very good job of it). "Nice field out there, huh?"

Chris looked at me curoiusly. "There's no field. Only a lake."

I sucked in my breath. "You see it too?"

"Yeah. I love how it always reflecs the starry sky, even in daylight."

"I've often noticed that."

"Nobpdy else I know sees it. Maybe we have some special sight?"

"Maybe."

I looked up at the Big Dipper, and I randomly thought of my dad.

"My dad was sad when I left for Camp Half-Blood. He wanted to keep me close, but he knew that wasn't the safest option for me. He knew about my mother. He loved me, and I reminded him of my mother. But I had to go. This is where I belong." I said.

"I thought Artemis was a maiden goddess," said Chris.

"She is. She vowed never to marry. She didn't marry my father. You know how Athena's kids are born by a meeting of minds, and Hestia's by a meeting of souls? Well, I was born by a meeting of spirits. I was born from..."

I took a deep breath. It was surpirsing how easy it was to talk to him. I had never told anyone else this before, not even Winters, though I intened to.

"I was born from stardust. From stars," I breathed.

I waited for him to laugh. He didn't.

"No wonder," He grinned. "You shine brighter than any of these." He gestured to the great night sky above us.

There was a silence. I wanted to break it.

"So what about your parents?" I asked.

Hermione, on to you.

Chris~

"If my dad had told my mom he was a god, she wouldn't have been able to take it. She was just a fragile kind of person. So Apollo didn't tell her. When he left, she thought it was forver. She was devestated. From there, she sort of fell apart. I used to catch her crying over my dad's old photos. And then she got cancer..." My voice cracked. I tried again.

"...and then she got cancer. Even if we had been able to afford the life-saving medicine she needed, it wouldn't have worked. She just lost the will to live. My dad, God of Healing, arrived too late. Mom died when I was ten."

I wanted to cry, yet I felt relieved. I wqas surprised at myself. I had never talked about my mom to anyone. I was just so comfortable around Ianthe.

Ianthe's lovely eyes filled with sympathy. She touched my hand.

"I'm so sorry," she said.

'It's okay, now, at least. I usually forget my sorrow here at camp. It is my home, really. I don't have anywhere else to go."

I gazed at Ianthe. She was so wonderful. I loved everything about her. For example, her laugh. It wasn't a rough, tomboy sort of laugh or a high tinkly, girly-girl laugh. It was warm and bright, and it made verything seem okay.

I loved her personality. I loved her eyes too...one green for earth, one blue for the sky. My world...

Erm, I'm stuck. You take it from here, Owlgirl.

Ok.

Ianthe~

Poor Chris! He lost his mother, and in a worst possible way!

He was such a good person. He was kind, funny, empathetic, smart skilled, modest, and in his own way...handsome.

I thought back to when Aubrianna, a girl from the Aphrodite cabin had once told me, "You'll have a crush sometime in your life..."

To which I had replied, "Ha! Never!"

Aubrianna had been right. I was wrong.

For once, I was fine with that.

Chris squeezed my hand gently.

"You make everything alright," he said.

"Oh, Chris..."

"I really like you, Ianthe."

"I-I really like you too."

He smiled. Or maybe I did. I took his other hand. Or maybe he took mine. I don't know. Nothing was clear; I was seeing double; the world was spinning out of focus...

We leaned in closer...I could see every detail of his face...

I knew what was going to happen a second before it did.

bleah.

I don't usually like romance in real life or media, and I dont like it when the kissing is too descriptive in books.

But romance makes for an interesting writing topic and really enhances the elements, so I'm ok with using it now.

"Oi, Jacob," I ask shyly, making sure no one else sees.

"Yeah?" he asks quietly.

"Do you have any idea who your god parent is?" I ask politely.

"No," he says. Suddenly I hear a hiss.

"Look out, Jacob!" I yell. But this is no ordinary snake. This is Oceanus's snake. It crawls to the stricken Jacob and sits in front of him.

So that's his godly parent... or should I say, titanly.

Strangely, my feelings haven't changed. I still like him.

His secret is safe with me.

Jacob~

Oooohh crud. My dad is the titan of the sea. I looked down at the serpent. Then I looked up at my friend.

"This whole half-blood thing just got a whole lt weirder," I said. She gaped at me.

"You-your the son of-"

"Oceanus, yeah. Well, at least I know who my parent is-" I said lamely.

"Jacob, this is serious. We can't tell anyone about this! Anyone, not even Chiron. Do you understand?"

I held out my hand and the baby sea serpent slithered up it onto  my shoulder.

"Yeah. I understand. Come on, we should catch up with the others. I'm sure they're wondering about us. We're headed on a quest and I need to collect my things."

"Jacob, wait! What's happening to your arm?!"

I looked down and almost passed out. A spot on my forearm was growing dark. It darkened until there was a black place on my arm, it looked almost like a tatoo. It the mark of Oceanus on it.

"Seriously? You've got to be joking."  looked out towards the sea. "Thanks a lot pops!" I yelled.

Just then, the sky went dark. Storm clouds began to roll tawards camp. Five dark objects were just visible in the distance.

"Dragons. With riders," my friend said. "They're on our side though. They're carrying the flag of truce. What are they doing here, though?"

"Beats me," I said. "Let's go meet them." We jumped off the porch and started running towards our visitors.

OK guys, here's the gist, cuz I think there's a little confusion about the plot and where it is in the Percy Jackson series. The answer is: it's not anywhere in the PJ series, no not even in Heroes of Olympus.

Why?

Because Gaia was defeated (or so I presume) in Heroes of Olympus, but here, it's not Gaia herself. She doesn't even realize what's going on. It's the heart of earth, the heart of Gaia. Get it? The heart is acting of its own accord.

There are really mysterious and never before known monsters (and a few familiar ones) because most of the Heart's monsters are not originated in Tartarus, but from the core, the heart of earth.

Now it's not a giant cackling heart like in Ianthe's dreams (because though most demigods dream literally, Ianthe does not).

I'm trying to figure out some way it can be defeated.

Maybe (if you're looking for a quest/search kind of adventure) there are seven (or more, or less, we can decide the # later) magical gems, or objects, or something that when brought together in some special way and in some special place can defeat the heart!

I don't think it should just be army vs army, and whoever wins the battle wins. No, that's too much like real life. I mean, battling will definitly play a large role, though.

There should be some special or magical we can win, and we will win, even people die.

If you like the quest for items idea, go ahead and say so. If you have any other ideas, do tell.
