The Eld-Bloods were

Chatterbox: Inkwell

The Eld-Bloods were

The Eld-Bloods were cherished.

And rare.

Sometimes they didn't know what they were, sometimes they did. But at some point, the Elders find them.

Rescue them.

Bring them to safety.

The Eld-Bloods are always in danger. Like Half-Bloods (read Percy Jackson), the monsters can catch their scent. Monsters, Eld-Bloods gone bad. No one knows how the first one was created. No one ever will. But they were there, they were always there, the ones who let the evil control them, the ones that mutated and became monstrous, inhuman.

Hunting the Eld-Bloods.

Hunting.

____

If you haven't guessed, Eld-Bloods are creatures. Mythical or not, whatever you want. Make something up if you'd like. The youngest Eld-Bloods are searched for and brought to a school hidden in the core of the Earth, where they are taught how to control and endure their powers, at the same time being kept safe. The Elders are their teachers, and the Eldest the leader of them all.

The Eldest is a dragon, a gigantic red dragon. He's a good creature, speaks and controls himself. But like all dragons, he needs to breathe. Most Eld-Bloods have special needs such as this, and the Eld Academy (although they just call it the Academy) takes care of them. It's not uncommon for children to vanish on the full moon, or eat only raw meat.

There are many types of students at the Academy, and they all approach this differently. Some will just tell what they are. Some will treat it as more of a secret and tell select people. Some will tell no one, absolutely no one and keep their secret as close to them as possible. And some prey on the ones who do not tell and try to get them to.

A new group of students has just come in. You can be one of them or an older student.

The rules:
-Be rational with your Eld-Blood, please. If there are already three werewolves, say, choose something else. And try to think about how rare certain creatures would be. For example, a harpy is probably a lot less known than a vampire, so there will probably be more vampires than there will be harpies.

-Again, diversity, with the secret-keeping. I'd prefer if there were more of the first two, a few of the last one, and a small number of the remaining. And if there are, say, three I-won't-keep-a-secrets, three tell-select-peoples, two tell-no-ones, and one tell-your-secret, try to be the latter.

-No OPs. I think this goes without saying. If you're a dragon, give it a weak spot. And, accordingly, let's not have any under-powers either. You may be a mouse animagus, but that doesn't mean you have to be a coward.

The charrie sheet:

Name:

Age: School age, remember. Although if you're immortal, just ignore that.

Appearance:

Personality: Be sure to at least imply what type of secret-keeper you are here.

Backstory:

My charrie:

Name: Aoife (Ee-fah)

Age: 10

Appearance: Screen Shot 2016 03 26 at 12 44 31 PM

Plus a white coat that she always, always wears. Small for her age.

Personality: Very, very shy. She rarely speaks, and when she does she tumbles over the words. She acts younger than she is. Her species, to her, is her deepest, darkest secret and only the Elders know about it. To herself, though, she describes her soul as a fireplace, and all it needs is some more gas.

Creature: Selkie. Selkies can't speak without their coats, which double as skins (see Powers). They're from Irish mythology and are always female.

Powers: Selkies have incredible singing voices, and for this some myths depict them a bit like the Greek's Sirens, luring sailors to their deaths. As long as they have their coat, which is their sealskin, they can turn into seals.

Backstory: A new student, Aoife grew up in Ireland, and English is not her first language (yes, I know they mostly speak English in Ireland, but Irish is a language, believe it or not). Her mother vanished shortly after she was born, and her father was killed by a monster hunting her.

Other: None

I don't know, maybe Shasta saw Panthea looking at her and came after him when Jack went to show him around? I guess I'll see what happens when you make your post!

Sorry that this is short. I've got writer's block.
~Ming-xin~
The Academy food is terrible! I pick at the food as I listen to the Elder speak.
I've always thought the center of the Earth would be hot. It's a normal temperature here, though.
My fox senses pick up everything around me. The people talking, the dragon droning on and on…
Western dragons are strange. I miss the dragons back in China, the big red dragons that DON'T breathe fire and control the element of water. I had this really good friend who was a rain dragon…

Flamma-

This year is starting out...interesting. A sphinx attacked a boy shouting something about monsters. I wish I was back at home where everything was simple. But here I can fit in. If I haven't learned that then I haven't learned anything. I sigh and fly off.

Sorry it's so short! Will someone please meet up with Flamma?

Fae ~ I gasp as I splash cold water on my face. I dry my face off, cleaning it all up. I want to know more about that strange girl with the big eyes, and if she has anything to do with my past. Maybe she's strong with magic, and that compels my memories to leak through?

Did someone cast a spell on me to forget most of my memories before coming to the school? And is the girl so powerful that her magic started melting the magic, letting my memories sweep through to engulf me?

The future is clouded, obscure from my vision. If only I could peek into the future, or make it as clear as the pool that I used to sit by when I was little. Wait ... what pool? I remember no such thing!

I let out a furious shriek, angry that my memories are playing such a game with me. No doubt the whole school heard that shriek. And I know now that I cannot leave the past alone no more ...

Shasta~

After making sure that the girl wasn't watching anymore, I look back again. This time, I see a tall boy with wings and scales looking at me. A Caoutl, I guess. I've heard about them, but never expected to meet one. Why is he staring at me? I ruffle my feathers and look away, resolving to find out.

~~~~~~~~~~~
Once Kiria shows us to our dorm, which has three more bunks in it besides from the one Saki and I share, I morph into a human and start getting accustomed. Putting clothes in my drawer, things like that. (I forgot to mention that Saki and Shasta each have a simple chain with a blue crystal at the end of it, carved out of the same crystal) I plop down onto the lower bunk, staring at how the light reflects off of the crystal I wear around my neck. What did that Caoutl want? I have to find out. I get out of bed and leave the room under the true pretense that I need food. "Suit yourself. I want some rest." Saki says, yawning. "Okay." I leave the room, closing the door softly behing me. After grabbing some food and eating, I morph into a griffin and follow the trail, soon finding the door where he went in. After a while, he comes out. "What's your name, and what do you want?" I ask, trying to tower over him. But that doesn't work. Of course he's taller than me! He's a Caoutl!
That is a Couatl, to you, miss Coco. Just saying, because you misspelled it every time. Tis alright, though.
Panthea~ I subconsciously shift into a Couatl as the Griffin approaches. She looks defiant, and I face her back with every little bit of pride and more. "What's your name and what do you want?" she almost snarls, trying to tower over me. Even though I'm about twice as tall as she is, she's still pretty intimidating. "I'd like to ask you the same thing myself," I growl. Fear touches her eyes for a split second, but then flicks away."I'm Shasta. And I came here to figure out what you were doing and why you were looking at me earlier." I nod. "Okay. I'm Panthea. I looked your way because you looked friendly." I offer a russet-feathered wing. "Truce?" She shakes my wing with her own. "Truce."
"We should probably get back to our dorms before the Elds get upset," Shasta points out.
"Alright. See you tomorrow, Shasta."
"Bye, Panthea."
Maybe life at Eld Academy won't be as bad as I first thought.
The new students have arrived. What fun.
Number One is a dragon, I think. It's pretty obvious because she has the reptilian wings, and some scales as well. She seems to be trying to hide them, but I saw a couple at the base of her wings when I walked past her at breakfast. She must be a hatchling. She's wearing some cast-off T-shirt with holes inexepertly cut in it. It flaps a bit at the base of the wings, which was how I could see them.
She's not prepared.
I, on the other hand, am very prepared. In addition to the normal clothes the Academy provides, free of charge, I have a hat. It's a very nice looking hat -- a straw hat with a feather tucked in it. It doesn't have any special meaning, but there's a nice tight strap around the chin and a metal plate just inside the lid. I could do a headstand, and the water still wouldn't come out. It's following the rules. It's playing smart.
I'm going to make friends with Number One.
I plop down next to her at lunch and grin with all the childish innocence I can muster. She's pretty big, as to be expected of a human who is part dragon.
"Hiya! I'm Tenshio. I'm your new friend. Pleased to meet you." I extend a webbed hand to shake. She looks at it uncertainly before accepting. We shake hands.
"I'm Flamma." My word. Do dragons really call themselves that? At least kappa are named after their proper rivers. My father was the Ishikari, but I'm not the Tenshio kappa. My mother named me wrong. Such is the fallacy of humans. They break rules when they don't even know it.
"What's on your schedule for today, Flamma?" I ask.
"Um, I don't know yet. We'd be getting classes in a few days, I thought..."
"That's fair. Watch out for the old Gryphon- if you get him going about his past for too long, he'll never shut up all lesson but assign homework anyway. And the Unicorn teacher has a temper like anything."
She smiles. I open my eyes wide and ask, "Hey, do you like to swim?"
Flamma looks taken aback. "Well- no. I don't, really."
"Oh, because of your wings, right? Some people with wings can swim underwater, but I guess it's not like you're a sea serpent or anything. Hey, would you be willing to take me for a ride sometime? It's always been my dream to fly up in the sky."
She seems annoyed. "No, I will not. I can't carry you, and I hardly know you anyway."
"Then we'll have to become better friends until you know me."
I smile impishly and then jump off the bench. "I have to go to class now. See you later, Flamma! I'll come hang out with you tonight!"
She must live in the aviary, where all the large flying creatures live. I'll get her room number from an older student. She'll be a great friend. It'll be a wonderful game.
