((Sorry for the delay))

Disguised as a human boy, Biblios wandered the bustling streets of Athens. His destination was the temple where sacrifices were made. Perhaps someone there could identify the briber. Approaching the temple, he saw three girls talking. One of them looked as though she was a beggar. Good, Thoght Biblios She might spend a lot of time outside the temple asking for donations. He waied for their conversation to end.

 ((I 'm back.

You probably were not exepecting any more of me.))

Xyflyx, the Greek general, walked out of his mansion. He was tired of sharpening his axe. Then he saw a strange man.

The man was wearing a traveling cloak. "HEY!" Xyflyx barked. "NO ONE WALKS ON MY PROPERTY!!!" Xyflyx drew his shiny axe.

"Drop your weapons, man." The man said. "I did not notice. I am sorry."

"You'd better be." Xflyx mumbled.

"I could not help noticing that...that...you are my...my brother."

Xyflyx recoiled in horror.

YOU ARE LYING!!! I HAVE NO BROTHERS!!" Xyflyx barked.

"Just remember."the man said."My name is Xlanlx."

((Don't worry. I met with Pirocks and he gave me permission to do this.))

"Xlanalx?!?! Your name can't be Xlanalx! He has taken over Persia, and is not wandering in the greek countryside! He was my brother..." His voice trailed off, and that's when Xlanalx realized this had to be his brother. Only his brother had such a strong affinity for greece. Only his brother had been a traitor to Ainodecam. Only his brother had risen to such a high status in the enemy of his homeland. Oly his brother made him want to kill. His brother is what he thought of every time he rushed into battle. Sometime, one of them would have to die.

The girl had walked quickly away, seemingly speechless with surprise. Belatedly, Ivryn realized someone might think she had stolen it if she tryed to buy something with it. He was about to run after her and warn her when she literally ran into another girl. Sensing an oncoming fight, he walked past the knot of three girls. Unfortunately, his escape was not to be: a pick-pocket, the less peaceful version of a begger, as he thought of them, dashed by him, almost magically transferring Ivryn's jingling purse from his belt to the thief's hand. "Stop!" Ivryn shouted, and broke into a run, cut short by the wincing body of a boy standing in the middle of the street. "Sorry, sorry," he began impatiently, but when he looked up the street again, there wasn't even a disturbance in the crowd. The thief and his money was gone.

"Fine. Go do your, hem, 'top secret' buisness. Like I care," Orna said."I'm not leaving until you tell me what you're doing here.""Me?! You haven't exactly told me what you're doing!"Aalishia raised her eyebrows threatingly, something she'd been practicing in the mirror at home. Orna fidgeted for a moment, before bursting out, "Okay, but then you have to leave me alone and not tell anyone. Deal?""Deal.""You sure?""Get on with it, Orna, unlike some people I actually have things to do!""Someone's impatient! Alright, I'm here.......I'm here in Greece to rescue my parents." Orna gave Aalishia a look, daring her to defy what she said.Aalishia asked in surprise, "But your parents are part of the Persian government! Why would they be in Greece, of all places?"

Orna explained, "That's the thing. Lord Xlanalx's army invaded our city and started burning houses and kidnapping people left and right. They came banging at the door - woke us all up, it wasn't even sunrise yet - and demanded my parents. When our servant - Cass - wouldn't let them come in, they - they - killed her. Then they just barged in...." Her voice trailed off, and she was looking not at Aalishia, but at the burly men smashing into her home. "Cass had bought me time, but not enough. They were into my parent's room before I could warn them. I was crouched behind the cupboard, and they just took them away.....they said they were taking them to Lord Xlanalx. I heard rumors he was in Greece, so I slipped onto a ship heading to a Greek port. And now I'm here."

((No, I haven't dissapeared, sorry if it seems that way. I can normally only check Chatterbox in small incriments of time, and I wanted to make this a decent length, so I typed it on Word first and now am just getting the chance to put it here.))

Aalishia stared in shock at Orna. Orna's parents had lived near the center of Persia. If the Greeks--no, the Ainoidecam had invaded that far, Persia would fall in a matter of weeks--if it hadn't fallen already. "Orna, it looks like we may have to..." she paused and took a deep breath, then continued. "We may have to work together on this. My house was stormed too, only...only they killed my parents." She lowered her voice. "I'm a spy for Persia. We have to kill Lord Xlanalx, so Persia can launch a counter attack. I have it all planned out. We can rescue your parents and kill Xlanalx in one mission!"

Orna glared at her, taking a step back. "No way! I can save my parents alone. I DON'T need your help!" Aalishia glared back for a moment, then turned on her heel and ran smack into a furiously sprinting beggar girl. A pickpocket ran off with someone's bag and there was chaos.

Aalishia stood, rage hiding her confusion. Had the girl heard? Was she running to tell the authorities? A scene in the crowded marketplace  could and would ruin Persia. Publicity was the last thing she needed at the moment. Luckily for Persia's sake, Aalishia wasn't a spy for nothing. She grabbed Orna and the beggar girl by the collars and jerked them into a dark alley. "Okay, girl. What's your name and what did you hear?"

The boy Ivryn had run into took a step back, looking shocked. If Ivryn had still had a purse, he would have given him a coin, too, just for running into him.

One of these days, he thought, I'm going to do away with this soft heart of mine. But for the time being, he made do for lack of money with an offer to get the boy (who himself was a little ragged) out of the hot sun and into the nearby temple of Biblios where he might be able to find a community cook-pot, even in these trying times. The boy remained silent, which Ivryn took to be assent, and he led him towards the welcoming shade of the temple. However, sharp movement caught his eye, down an alley. Three girls, one he recognized to be the beggar he'd given a coin to. It looked like they might be from some rival gang of street kids, in which case quick intervention of some kind might mean the continued life of the beggar-girl. Still unwittingly dragging the boy ((sorry Wizard: if you don't like this, you're welcome to change it)) he changed his course towards that of the alley.

"My...my name's Charla. I-I didn't h-hear anything. I was just begging, an-and  I got enough for d-dinner. I tr-tripped, and accidentally ran into you. I'm-I'm really sorry." Then she narrowed her eyes. The pieces didn't fit together. "Wait one moment. What didn't I hear? You aren't from here, are you? Who are you?" The girl was taken aback, and the shorter one tried wriggling away from her captor's death grip. With a guarded glance at the shorter one, the taller girl said, "Fine. I'm Aalish- hem, I'm Lorelei. I was, erm, going to steal from one of the vendors, and I was worried you'd found me out and were going to tell the the local authorities." ((Sorry if you think that 's controlling, you can change that, Annie. Allison P., too.)) Meanwhile, the other girl was straining and twisting and arguing until she finally pulled away with a muttered "Ouch!" Charla turned her attention to the other girl. "What about you?" she challenged. The girl drew herself up angrily and said, "I'm--" "--Her name is Cora." Charla snorted. If that was true, then she'd give a gold piece to every orphan on the street. Then the generous stranger came in dragging a young boy behind him. "Get away from her!"

Actually, I think we all abandoned this roleplay. (Though, if anyone wants to start it back up, I wouldn't mind.)

Okay, I'll come back, but I don't know if the others will come back.

The company of people in the alleyway froze for a moment, then every one turned to the tall girl. "Well?" "What's going on here?" and, above all, "Who are you?" The young boy seemed confused and oddly detatched. Finally, Charla couldn't stand it any longer. "Stop it!" she shouted. Much to her shock and surprise, the order was actually obeyed and silence fell over the inhabitants of the squalid alley. Charla swallowed nervously, aware that all eyes were upon her, and said, "Erm, I think we should all go around and say our names and why were here. And it would be better if we all told the truth." she added, with a shrewd glance at the tall girl and her friend. "I'm Charla, and I was begging for some dinner-coins, and I ran into those two. Then they dragged me into this alley and started asking bizzare questions. That's why I'm here." The generous stranger shrugged. "I'm Ivryn. I saw you, gave you a coin, and left, but then those two came along and I wanted to make sure you weren't in trouble." His face reddened. "I er, accidentally dragged this fellow behind me." The tall girl glared at Ivryn and Charla. "First of all, I'm Aalishia. She's Orna. We are not 'those two'. I don't even like her. And my business is my business for a reason- I don't wan't YOU sticking your nose in it." Orna glared, but said nothing. Then the boy spoke up. "I'm Biblios, god of literature."

Sorry, though that's not very good, it's something to get the story moving. I don't mean to control anyone's character, but you can change it.

Biblios froze. Why had he just said that? It would make everyone instantly suspicios of him. Although maybe telling the truth was a good way to gain allies.  He looked at the other people in the alley. They all looked confused. Did they believe him? At least he had their attention. He continued. "I think sombody is trying to bribe the gods. Have you seen anyone making a lot of temple sacrifices lately?"

Ivryn was getting more confused by the moment. "Biblios?" He repeated, running his hand through his hair. "But--Biblios is always portrayed as an old scholar. How can you prove that you're Biblios?" The boy--Biblios?--looked flustered. "Prove it?" He appeared to wrack his brain for a while, then he opened his mouth and began speaking quickly. The others seemed even more confused at this foreign language, but Ivryn, a traveler, recognized it, answering in the same tongue. "Well, that convinces me," he said in Greek again, "no street boy would know that language all the way over here." Biblios looked relieved and turned to face the others.

((How's that?))
