Chrome Loth RP!

The world of Chrome Loth: A world divided by six factions, by six species. The land is divided into thirds while the sky is halved, with the Aer-Loth Clan the messenger between them.

On the land there are three clans: the Uisce-Loth Clan of the seas, the Lasair-Loth Clan of the fire wastes, and the Cloch-Loth Clan of the mountains.

In the sky there are two clans: the Solas-Loth Clan of the angels and the Dorcha-Loth Clan of the demons.

Finally, the Aer-Loth Clan lives on the highest peaks and acts as a bridge between the earth and sky.

Once every thirteen thousand years, a child is born in each clan with the powers of the clan's element in them.

Uisce-Loth=Water

Lasair-Loth=Fire

Cloch-Loth=Earth

Aer-Loth=Air

Solas-Loth=Light

Dorcha-Loth=Shadow

The Uisce-Loth Clan's Child is named Lyata. (I am RPing as Lyata). She is held in high regard as a sign that the Uisce-Loth Clan is entering a new age of wisdom. She has been training in combat in secret for many years and wishes to become the High Scholar, the ruler of the Uisce-Loth Clan. The Uisce-Loth Clan can all breathe underwater and have webbed fingers, plus are bioluminescent in dark water. The Uisce-Loth Clan is highly intellectual and is a democracy-monarchy combo.

The Lasair-Loth Clan is surrounded my nothing but magma and flame; a flat wasteland of obsidian, where farmers who can find good land must defend it ferociously. The Lasair-Loth peoples are immune to very high heat. The Lasair-Loth Clan's Child may not even yet be aware of his or her abilities. The Lasair-Loth Clan is incredibly dangerous, with only one large city with a massive crime rate. The Lasair-Loth is an anarchy ruled by an underground mafia.

The Cloch-Loth Clan is in the mountains, where forests and climates of all types rule. Cloch-Loth Clan rituals are steeped in ancient tradition, and many believe that the Cloch-Loth Clan was the first Clan ever created. Cloch-Loth peoples are naturally strong. The Cloch-Loth Clan is merely a collection of tribes ruled by the largest, the Alpha Tribe.

The Aer-Loth Clan is held in high regard by all. All Aer-Loth Clan members have wings. These wings are the same color as their flesh and look somewhat batlike. Aer-Loth Clan members are incredibly pompous, and flaunt their wealth and power. Their Child is worshipped as a god or goddess. Many Aer-Loth Clan members get tattoos of ancient tribal symbols that glow in the light of the moon. The Aer-Loth Clan is a monarchy, and the ruling family is called the Vashya-Comra family.

The Solas-Loth Clan is rarely seen. They represent righteousness and goodness. All of them have white feathered wings, except the Child, who has black wings. The Solas-Loth hate the Dorcha-Loth with great passion. The Solas-Loth also do not age as long as they stay in their home of white cloud, which means that they are rarely seen. The Solas-Loth is a monarchy, and the ruling family is the Vola-Saa

The Dorcha-Loth Clan is known for its raids on other clans. They represent evil. All of them are varying shades of red with bat-like wings to match and horns the color of their hair. The only exception is their Child, whose skin is violet and has horns made of lapis lazuli. The Dorcha-Loth are a monarchy, with the ruling family known as the Krok-Shakar.

It wouldn't seem dry to anyone else, but she's speaking from a Uisce-Loth's perspective. They live in the water, so almost anywhere on land would seem dry to them.

Any way the TOP blows, doesn't really matter...

~Kaili~

Three days after the beginning of our stay with the Cloch-Loth, all Abyssos breaks loose.

The Cloch-Loth don't have magisters like the other clans. Instead, about half the population comes by the barest traces of magic naturally: enough to make plants grow slightly better, lift a slightly larger load, heal a minor scratch or bruise. Sianma and her friends, Ganado and Yushi, all have a little more magic than most, and they use it to make their healing herbs extra effective. My mental faculties have returned somewhat, the world no longer spins if I stand up too quickly, and the wound on the back of my head looks like it's been there two weeks instead of just three days.

The Children have been settling in, figuring out how to use their powers to the fullest extent. Remla has better control over her magical darkness, and can now calm herself enough to lift it at will three times out of four; Lyata can release a wall of water strong enough to bowl several opponents over backwards, though it takes a lot out of her; Piddle has been experimenting with his flames and Puck's wind, and last I checked the two of them working together could produce a tiny tornado and set it alight, creating...well, the epitome of a fire hazard.

The six of them, Phiri, and I have all just finished dinner. We're sitting around, conversing in low voices while the campfire burns down to cinders and dusk falls like a purple cloak around us. Nobody feels much like moving- Cloch-Loth food fills the stomach quickly, and despite our kaleidoscopic natures we've come to enjoy each other's company. Lyata grabs the emergency water bucket kept beside any fire and pours half of it over herself, activating her bioluminescent markings, to the delight of the other Children.

"Beautiful. I'll love to use your skin for a lantern."

Chalk it up to my concussion that I didn't notice the Cloch-Loth with the scythe sooner, and that my reflexes are too slow to get me across the circle before the scythe comes down. Lyata dodges, sending a blast of ice that narrowly misses her attacker's face. He snarls and swings again, eyes scarlet in the dimness, but by then I am at Lyata's side. His blade impacts my staff with a clang of metal. Lyata uses his focus on me to her advantage; another blast of ice catches him squarely in the chest. He staggers backward, dropping his weapon to claw at the front of his tunic, then crumples to the ground.

I look back at the others. They all stare back, in various degrees of shock.

First of all, TOP TOP TOP TOP TOP!!!!!!!!!

Puck~
I sighed. Things just kept getting worse and worse didn't they?
Everyone started screaming as the possesed Chrome Loth started to make his way over to the Dorcha-Loth child, otherwise known as Remla, while Lyata covered the child with her powers. Her powers could not protect Remla forever though.
I pulled out my sword swiftly, knowing that if I made any sound, my plan would be ruined and all would be lost. This child was special, and I was NOT going to allow her to be taken.
The possesed Chrome Loth hissed softly. "So. . . you are the one who seemed so. . . important."
"Leave her alone." Lyata spat out.
"A sassy one, aren't you?" The Chrome Loth hissed. Remla screamed as Lyata's shield of ice went off, and the Chrome Loth made a grab for the Dorcha-Loth child.
I lunged at the Chrome Loth, who turned around quickly, blocking my attack with his scythe.
"I will not let you take the girl." I growled as we began to fight. Dodging his blows was hard, and I fought fast, but neither of us refused to yield until the one of us was down.
My footing slipped, and the Chrome Loth pinned me down with his scythe. "Foolish girl." he hissed. "Did you really think you could defeat me? You're a fool. Now you see where becoming a hero can get you."
I gasped as my breathing became shallow. I would not allow this fiend to take my life in vain. I would continue to fight for Remla until both of us died, if neccessary. "Actually," I gasped "it is you who is the fool." Turning my body a certain way, both of us rolled over each other as we neared the edge of a cliff.
"Puck!" Lyata screamed as I tumbled off the cliff's edge.
I allowed my wings to open, bracing my fall, but not before I got gashed on one of my wings by the Chrome Loth's Scythe. Flying back up the cliff took all of the strength left in me.
The last thing I heard was Lyata yelling my name, before I collapsed behind some bushes.

Thanks for completely shaming my Clan, guys. I really appreciate it. Seriously: "barest traces of magic," "slightly, slightly, slightly?" And of course it's a Cloch-Loth that gets possessed and attempts to murder everyone.

I'm not going to write yet, I'm still thinking.

But can Xylo, at least, be a little more powerful? Could he raise forests from barren ground? Could he shift stone, the most ancient, solid material?

Please. The Cloch-Loth are not weak.

We are stronger than we seem.

Sorry if it seemed like I've been making your clan seem less powerful. The way I see it, in the other clans, magic is a very rare thing- to have any at all takes a lifetime of study. There are a small contingent of magisters who are indeed more powerful than the average Cloch-Loth, but they do magic as a profession, and the vast majority of the population has no magic whatsoever beyond clan-specific attributes. The Children's power, including Xylo's, far exceeds that of even the most venerable magister.

With the Cloch-Loth, magic is more spread out. There isn't any one group who does magic; the most minor of magics are fairly commonplace. So the average Cloch-Loth is less powerful than a magister, but more powerful than the average person from any other clan.

Again, sorry if it seemed like I've been insulting the Cloch-Loth. Any clan can have its members be Possessed (it would actually be a neat plot twist if the next Possessed is one of the Cadre, maybe even Kaili...), and I didn't mean to give the Cloch-Loth less magic, I just meant to have it distributed differently. And besides, the Cloch-Loth are so ancient, they probably have secrets hidden deep within the mountains that the other clans can only dream of.

Alright. It just seemed.... different. And you know that magisters are, or should I say were, a government position in Ancient Rome? So anyway I'm still blank of ideas. I'll write as soon as I can tie two pieces together.

@Scylla:

OK, seriously? For one thing, a Solas-Loth was Possessed, and they are BASICALLY ANGELS. Also, we're in Cloch-Loth territory. It's not like there are a ton of other Clan Members there, so it's only natural that the first thing that the villain would find to possess is a Cloch-Lothian.

And no, you can't raise an ENTIRE FOREST from the ground. Heck, Lyata has been training her abilities for years, and a fairly normal Cloch-Loth soldier beat down her ice shield! Is that not powerful for the Cloch-Loth?

Honestly, it sounds like you're whining. Everyone's Clan has strengths and weaknesses.

Also, I've been meaning to say that I like how you used Irish for the Clan names. I don't understand the "Loth" bit, though. Do the Clans hate each other?
