 CBERS AT CAMP

 CBERS AT CAMP HALF-BLOOD

Hello!

I just finished reading through Indigo's old Zombie Apocalypse, and I decided I wanted to write another single-writer story. Therefore, I present to you. . . us! At Camp Half-Blood.

A few rules before you skirt to the bottom of this post to sign up:

1. No AEs or CAPTCHAs, please. It's much more difficult to have them add to a plot, and their already-gifted abilities would be a hinderance rather than a help.

2. You may write journal entries, but please don't make any moves further on in the plot.

3. Once I start writing, I won't accept any more people. I'm going to draw the line at about eight, not including myself.

And some notes:

1. Please don't get cross if I portray you incorrectly. I'll do the best I can, but I can't guarantee you will be exactly your true self.

2. It is possible some of you may die, but not many.

3. I'm going to use a system similar to Brooke's:

MAIN CHARACTERS: Exactly what they sound like.

SECONDARIES: You will show up often, but are more likely to die and aren't going to be focused on as much.

TERTIARY: You will most likely show up later in the story, and perform a small but important deed. You are the most likely to die, but you might also join the quest.

4. No, we're not going to realize "Hey! You're from the CB!"

5. Yes, you can be Roman, as this is post-Percy.

Okay! Here's the sheet and some explinations:

CBER NAME:

AGE:

 GENDER:

CBER APPEARANCE: Make it realistic and highly detailed

PERSONALITY: Moderately detailed, so I have something to work off of

ANY FIGHTING EXPERIENCE:

PREFERRED WEAPON: If you already know how to use one, great! If not, what do you imagine yourself using and/or what's the most awesome?

GODLY PARENT: Can be minor-- If you aren't sure, think about preferred powers.

HOBBIES:

LOCATION: It can be a fake location, but preferably in the US (and not fantastical)

 MC, SECONDARY, OR TERTIARY?:

OTHER:

Don't worry, Cho, you'll be in there, just as a minor character.

By the way, as Hestia is a maiden goddess, would you mind if I made your godly parent Hecate instead?

Oh right. *smacks face* Why are all the amazing Greek goddesses maidens?!

Uhhhh ... sure. She'll be fine.

Again, I'll be gone until Tuesday, but I'll keep writing when I get back.

PART II

St.Owl tucked her dirty blond hair behind her ears in a habit she'd had for years. She was sitting on the steps of the Big House, ignoring Mr. D's eye and being generally impatient. Inside, three new kids were currently watching the video introducing them to camp.

When she heard the door to the Big House creak open, St.Owl got up and turned around, easily putting a smile on her face. In a jolt of nerves, she noticed one of the girls-- freckled, with brown hair-- must have been at least fifteen. A bit of panic welled up it her chest, but she pushed it down.

"Here are the new Athena kids," said Chiron, who was escorting them. "Leafpool"-- he indicated the brown-haired girl-- "Booksy Owly" --freckled as well, with big round glasses-- "and Mei-xue"-- an Asian girl with brown eyes and black hair. "Girls, this is St.Owl."

St.Owl grinned a little more broadly, but she was screaming inside. Booksy couldn't have been younger than thirteen herself! Over half of these girls were older than her, and the other girl-- May-shreh, it sounded like-- was probably about her age! St.Owl had signed up for ten-year-olds, not teenagers!

"Hi," she said, trying to sound confident. She'd read this over a million times. She knew what to do. "Welcome to Athena, cabin six! I'm here to show you around until Capture the Flag tonight."

The girl called Booksy Owly seemed to be chewing her lip. Nerves, St.Owl supposed. In an automatic gesture, she started tapping her hand on her thigh. One-two-three-four. One-two-three-four. "I was thinking we could go down to the strawberry fields first. The satyrs and nymphs mostly take care of them, but it's highly likely you'll find a friendly Demeter kid or two hanging around there as well."

She led them away from the Big House and crossed the bridge connecting the Big House, volleyball court, and arts and crafts with the strawberry fields, forge, armory, stables, cabins, and mess hall.

The fields were nice to look at and laze about in, but weren't very exciting when it came to a tour, so St.Owl just led her guests around them, pointing out the forge ("that's mostly used by the Hephaestus kids, look, there's Trill Woodhena waving at you now") as they went. She brought them in to the Pegasus stables, where only one other person resided.

"Hi!" said St.Owl, a little shyly. "This is Cockleburr, a daughter of Poseidon. Cockleburr, this is Booksy Owly, Leafpool, and Mei-xue."

Booksy smiled a little bit, Leafpool waved, and Mei and Cockleburr shook hands. Cockleburr herself looked slightly nervous, but was perfectly friendly as she introduced the new Athena kids to each pegasus, occassionally pausing to tell the horses off for language.

Saying good-bye to Cockleburr, St.Owl pointed out the armory ("you'll get to pick out weapons later") and eventually leading them towards the cabins. The two biggest, of Zeus and Hera, were empty.

"These are mostly for show," said St.Owl, indicating them. "Sometimes a Zeus kid will come along, but Hera doesn't have demigod children. We just don't want her getting mad that we haven't dedicated a cabin to her."

She turned towards the right, passing the Demeter cabin and stopping at Cabin Six. "Here we go, our home-away-from-home," she said. She ws starting to get into it, she thought.

The Athena cabin looked a little plain from the outside. It was a grey building with white courtains and a carving of an owl over the doorway. St.Owl pushed it open, leading the new kids inside.

Beds were shoved to the side with little desks next to each one, but generally looked like they were just keeping up space. A gigantic library filled up one corner, bookshelves hugging the walls, while desks and chairs were situated cleverly about it. There was a workshop at the other end, and a doorway leading outside labelled ARMORY.

The armory door opened at that very moment, and a girl with long brown hair entered the cabin, holding a few bent swords.

"Stupid Apollo kids," she muttered, "Bending swords on a dare and then just tossing them back in the armory without fixing them up first. . ."

Catching sight of St.Owl and co., she put the swords down on a handy bench and walked up.

"Hi!" she said brightly. "I'm Ashlee, but you can call me Ash. I'm the head of the Athena cabin."

"This is Booksy Owly, Mei-xue, and Leafpool," said St.Owl. She was getting rather tired of introducing them.

"Feel free to look around," said Ash with a grin, and then turned back to her swords, muttering, "I think I can fix these. . ."

Booksy immediately headed over to the library, her magnified hazel eyes scanning book titles. Leafpool went towards Ash and they were soon in a conversation. Mei-xue stayed with St.Owl.

"What are the beads on your necklace for?" she asked in curiousity.

"They're for every year I've been at camp," replied St.Owl, "In this case, five. I'm second-in-command because we all thought someone a bit older than me should be head counselor." She smiled a bit.

"Well that's not fair!" said Mei-xue. "You've been here a lot longer than her!"
St.Owl shrugged. "I wouldn't be very good at the leader position anyway. I've got just the amount of power I want, really."

Mei-xue seemed like she wanted to persue the topic, but instead said, "When can we get started with training?"

"Tomorrow," St.Owl replied. "I'm supposed to show you around today. You get to take part in Capture the Flag tonight, though. Maybe I can bring you to pick out some weapons?"

"Sure."

St.Owl called Booksy and Leafpool over, and led them inside.

"You can look for any weapon you want in here," she said. The Athena cabin's armory was about the size of a garden shed, but full of weapons of every size and deadliness. "Try to find something that feels right for you."

Mei-xue immedeately darted over to the daggers. Booksy, looking nervous, started picking up swords, staring at them like they would suddenly get a mind of their own and impale her. Leafpool, looking slightly uncertain, wandered over towards the bow and arrows.

Once they had each found something they liked (although Booksy still looked as though she'd rather not have this sharp pointy thing dangling from her hand), St.Owl brought them back inside to look at scabbards.

"The mess hall is behind the cabins," said St.Owl. "You can't miss it. When the conch shell blows, it's time to eat. You can find us under the grey banner with the owl once dinner is over."

Her tour guide duties done, St.Owl grabbed her own sword and headed out to train.

I know, I love it too! The story is going along so smoothly. And you did really good portraying my character. I can be nice, but if you get annoying or break things (like the Apollo kids) without fixing it, I won't be all that nice. So I'm loving it. And all the other characters are amazing, as well!

Oh, and I wanted to add something to my charrie sheet:

Other: Always determined to never give up a fight, unless absolutely neccessary. Never backs down on a challenge. Oblivious to pain, (by this I mean that I can feel it, I just don't show that I can feel it for a little while, until the pain becomes unbearable.)
